Fingerscrossed1 · 21/06/2011 10:11

I got my BFP last week Grin. I followed a link that PumpkinHead posted on First Time Frolikers so just wondering if I was in the right place and if I can join in? Smile

kurlyvoice · 21/06/2011 10:48

Yep, you're in the right place, fingerscrossed. Feel free to ask questions and share any worries with us - we've all been through it. Here's hoping that you have a very smooth and enjoyable next 9 months! Have you told your doctor and got a booking in appointment with the midwife yet?

Ozzie, it's lovely to "see" you here again. I know exactly what you mean by the overwhelming love that our little boys can make us feel. A is at the smiling-at-mummy phase and it's so wonderful to go to his crib when he is whimpering to be fed, and for that to be instantly converted into the biggest grin! This really is the best thing that DH and I have ever done.

HH, I hope your colleague's wife is doing ok, and your colleague himself as well. Tragedies like this just have to make us appreciate our little miracles all the more - I really understand why some cards say "Congratulations on a Safe Delivery" now. Enjoy your last week of work (if you can) and don't do too much! I can hardly believe that you've only got 3 weeks left until your EDD - it doesn't seem that long ago since you got your BFP!

Fingerscrossed1 · 21/06/2011 15:58

Thanks Kurly It still doesn't seem quite real yet. This is all I've ever wanted and so I'm excited but also a bit terrified at the same time!

I've made an appointment to see the docs on Monday. Have no real symptoms other than a total lack of appetite. I have to force myself to eat which believe me is not like me at all! Grin

highheelsandequations · 22/06/2011 15:02

Welcome fingerscrossed, it still doesn't seem real to me and I'm due in 3 weeks :o Feel free to share all your worries and ask anything you want and hoping you have a fab 9 months.

Kurly I can't believe where the time has gone either. Although time seemed to be going so slowly, looking back it was only 5 minutes ago that I got the BFP.

Well we had our final antenatal class today and yet another mix up. So forgetting the fact that I wasn't told about the set of classes I was meant to be in, first I was told the wrong dates, then the wrong time for one of the classes. Today we sat waiting for 30 minutes to then be told that the health visitor who was supposed to be taking the class was unavailable and so a different health visitor came and spoke to us for half an hour, completely unprepared, and then had to go. I had thought that we'd be given information about after the baby was born, hints and tips, told what we really needed to know etc. but basically we were told nothing. Have not been impressed at all, and wishing now that I'd booked into the classes at the hospital. Also have been given no information about breastfeeding, except that there are support groups available, so now have to try and see if there is a workshop available at the hospital before pip arrives! Oh well, 2 days of work to go and can't wait. I am so tired just now. Also fairly sure pip has dropped as my bump is lower, I can breathe a little more and yesterday walking around caused my pelvis to be extremely painful. Luckily it's not been so painful today so I've managed to walk around work without wincing and making involuntary squeaks!

How's everyone else doing?

ToriaPumpkin · 22/06/2011 15:13

Welcome fingerscrossed! Hope you have an as uneventful as possible nine months with us :)

I had my 22 week check up about an hour ago and FINALLY heard Pumpkin's heartbeat. All is measuring well in there and s/he had the hiccups which the doppler also picked up Grin

It was a different MW than normal which I was worried would mean I would have to start again with my discussion about my hips but she read my notes and immediately asked me if they were still causing me pain, took one look at my face and when I said I was waking regularly during the night gave me a leaflet on PGP and the number for the obstetric physio who I see for the first time next week Grin I'll also be measured for a sexy support belt! When she heard my hips popping when I got up on the bench she looked genuinely sorry for me and said "You need this class" which made me feel less like a drama queen :)

HH I can't believe the problems you've had with your ante natal classes! Were they NCT or NHS? I'm booked into the NHS ones up here (because we don't have NCT, we're too remote ) and as no one I know bothered to do them around here I'm getting a bit worried.

haloflo · 22/06/2011 19:48

HH I went to a BF workshop but it probably wasn't an essential as bf is so different with a RL baby. (Much heavier and wrigglier than a doll aiming for plastic boob!) Best thing is probably to read up what to expect in the early days at kellymom, browse the BF/FF boards and if you are feeling brave go to a BF group whilst you are still pregnant. I didn't do this but it means you already know how to get there, who goes, what the supoort is like so if you need support you know where to go.

highheelsandequations · 23/06/2011 20:21

Toria they were NHS classes. Didn't sign up for the ones at the hospital as I thought the more local ones would help me meet more mums to be near me, and decided not to spend money on NCT as we'll need to start saving soon! Wish now that I'd signed up for either the hospital ones or the NCT. Think it's just our health centre that's rubbish though. Lovely hearing Pumpkin's heartbeat and glad all's measuring well. Glad you're getting some help with your hips too.

Halo glad to hear the BF workshops aren't essential. I do have the phone number for our BF support person and there is a BF support clinic weekly at my health centre so at least I know where I can get support after pip arrives. Will check out your link, thanks, and try not to worry too much about not managing to get to a workshop!

LateToTheTTCParty · 23/06/2011 20:28

Hello ladies! Can't quite believe I've 'graduated'! Good to see some familiar First Time Frolickers from the last thead & catch up with how you all are Smile

I got my BFP on 18 June and went to see the GP yesterday - apparently I'm due on 17 Feb which is freaking me out a bit as, apart from some nausea, I don't feel any different at all... This is going to be some journey, isn't it!

highheelsandequations · 23/06/2011 21:23

LateToTheTTCParty · 25/06/2011 17:42

Hello Fingers! Smile
How are you doing?

ToriaPumpkin · 28/06/2011 15:21

Welcome to the new grads, how's the first trimester treating you?

We've been busy little bees here of late, we decided once the 20 week scan was done with we'd start buying the big items and so far have a car seat and the pram should be getting delivered today! We've also got the cot mattress (OH is making the cot as we speak) and my sling arrived this morning Grin

We're really lucky in that a few friends of ours have decided they're not having any more so we're inheriting a load of cloth nappies, a steriliser, a bumbo and a widgey pillow and one of my bridesmaids has already told me she wants to buy us a baby gym, so we've only got a few more big items left to go (travel cot, carrier, monitor) and then clothes and bedding.

I've also painted and decorated the nursery and we're in the process of moving everything we had stored in there into their new homes (in the converted wardrobes in the other spare room) and getting rid of the excess furniture!

So how's everybody else doing? HH You're top of the list! Are you enjoying your mat leave?

highheelsandequations · 29/06/2011 09:13

Wow Toria you're more organised than me! We built the cot bed on Saturday night and still haven't cleared out the nursery :o

highheelsandequations · 29/06/2011 09:14

PS: Yep enjoying the ML although not had much chance yet, parents been visiting so busy busy.

bunnygirl80 · 29/06/2011 09:20

hh you're still more organised than I was - William was 4 months old when we bought his cot Grin

highheelsandequations · 01/07/2011 10:36

gosh it's quiet in here just now, hope that means everyone's busy enjoying their bumps and babies. Can't believe I finished work a week ago. I have got nothing done yet and had so much planned for these few weeks. Also still feeling exhausted, not like I'm off work at all! Next week I must make sure I make better use of my time I think.

ToriaPumpkin · 01/07/2011 11:44

Morning. HH I'm being made redundant in August so we wanted to get as much done before the money ran out as we could. Plus I'm generally very organised anyway (have all my birthday cards done two months in advance and lined up in the kitchen Blush

Just back from my physio appt with a very sexy support belt Grin Worth it though as I can suddenly sit down and stand up without creaking and groaning! Amazing. Pumpkin not too sure about it, being kicked mightily in the bt it covers!

highheelsandequations · 04/07/2011 12:01

Toria I am impressed by your super organised birthday cards! Makes sense to get everything sorted before August, I've been saying similar to DP about making sure we buy things now whilst I'm still getting wages before I'm on SMP, even if we don't technically need them yet. Glad you got your support belt and it's helping.

Well I am now just about permanently uncomfy, my back is sore every coupld of hours and I cannot find a position that helps. Only thing that seems to help is to keep moving, and then I have sore feet and am exhausted after 30 mins or so!! Not fed up of being pg though despite that, I think that after waiting so long for it I'm a bit reluctant for it to end to be honest. Fully expecting pip o keep us waiting a while anyway. Am loving the scared looks people are giving when they ask when baby's due and I tell them "next week" :o

Right, have been to aqua aerobics this morning and booked myself a manicure and pedicure for Thursday (although I really shouldn't be spending the money after having to pay my car insurance this month). Now I need to clean the fridge and then I can go and sit in the garden with a nice cold alcohol free shandy!

ToriaPumpkin · 05/07/2011 10:00

Oh yes, I put wipes and muslins in the Tesco basket the other day, may as well take advantsage of the offers! Luckily for me OH is of the same opinion so most of the big things are out of the way, and my mother has gone away this weekend with the list from the back of the Mothercare catalogue as she's decided I must have a baby shower and all my aunts want to buy me things!

Sorry to hear you're uncomfortable, have no advice unfortunately so fingers crossed Pip is punctual and you can soon have your lovely little baby instead of aches and pains!

You've just reminded me actually, I must book into our local aqua natal classes, met a woman in my physio class who said they're wonderful!

highheelsandequations · 05/07/2011 21:54

Needing everyone to send contraction vibes my way.

My waters went at about 5.30 this morning (and have been gushing out regularly ever since, yuck!!!). Had an app with MW at 9.30 anyway so went along, she was concerned about pip's heartrate (too high) and so sent me up to hospital to be monitored. All was fine and monitors showed I was starting to have contractions, although they were more uncomfortable than painful. Was sent home and told to go to midwife unit at about 6pm to check me as it would be 12 hours from waters going. Went there and was monitored again but contractions were not strong or regular enough to be classed as established labour so back home again. Now I need labour to establish before 6am as if it's more than 24 hours from waters going I have to go to labour ward and am not allowed on midwife led unit.

Since coming home the contractions have started to be painful (getting a bit bloody sore actually) so fingers crossed things are getting going properly... I never thought I would be wishing to be in more pain!!

Althoug I'm still not ready for pip to arrive, I have loads of stuff on my lists that I was supposed to do first :)

ToriaPumpkin · 05/07/2011 22:07

Ooooh! Have everything crossed that things get moving for you soon HH!

slowshow · 06/07/2011 10:13

Oh my goodness! I decide to (sheepishly) show my face after a loooong time of not posting, and HH is in labour!

Hope things got going overnight and you're snuggling your baby Grin

Daiso · 06/07/2011 11:35

Hi ALL

Not been on for a while - just don't know where the time goes!

HH - how exciting!! Hope all goes well for you.

Hope everyone else is ok, I'm 21 weeks and all going well so far - it's flown by! Will try and catch up with everything soon.

CaveMum · 06/07/2011 21:07

Good luck HH! Hope you have a lovely snuffly baby soon!
