cherrycobbler · 11/06/2011 07:43

oh tomboy just saw this, am so so sorry. Please be good to yourself and take time off work etc if you need too. Agree with others re being checked out, often they will want to do a scan to check everything has been passed, to rule out risk of later in infection. Will be thinking of you this weekend and next week xxxx

Really lovely to hear from you oneof8 and bellaby, and congrats on your little girl bella.

OP posts:
TomboyWife · 11/06/2011 10:08

I spoke to an out of hours doctor this morning. Based on what I told him, he thought it was a complete miscarriage and that nothing was left, though he suggested I phone my regular GP on Monday and see if they want to refer me for a scan.

Physically, I feel surprisingly good. Emotionally, I'm rather down as would be expected, but I still think the anxiety and uncertainty in the run-up were harder. In retrospect, the wait and see approach to the bleeding was the wrong choice. I know an early scan wouldn't have prevented the miscarriage, but at least I would've known rather than having to wonder.

kurlyvoice · 11/06/2011 20:18

Tomboy, I'm so sorry to hear about your miscarriage. As everyone has said, please get yourself checked out and give yourself a bit of time off work for your body to recover. Thinking of you lots and hoping that you get the fertile bump that seems to happen and that you're back with us quickly and safely.

highheelsandequations · 12/06/2011 20:58

Tomboy I am so very sorry to read your news. Agree with all the advice from others, make sure you do get yourself checked out and try to do whatever your need to help your recovery. Thinking of you.

highheelsandequations · 12/06/2011 21:26

Oh and bella congratulations to you on your little girl.

OneOf8 · 13/06/2011 09:37

Tomboy thinking of you xx

TomboyWife · 13/06/2011 19:44

Gawd, who knew that having a complete miscarriage would result in so many medical appointments? I spoke to my regular GP this morning, then went to the local EPU. They did a urine test which was negative, then a blood test that showed a little bit of pg hormone still hanging around. They're pretty sure everything has come out, but I have to go back tomorrow morning for a scan to confirm.

I'm trying to avoid telling work exactly what's going on, but if tomorrow morning isn't the end of it, I may have to.

CrazyAlien06 · 13/06/2011 22:28

I'm so sorry Tomboy x

haloflo · 14/06/2011 11:57

tomboy Really sorry this is dragging on - hopefully tomorrow will be the end of it and you can focus on looking after yourself. Remember it was nothing you did. xx

highheelsandequations · 14/06/2011 20:09

Tomboy sorry you're having to go through so many appointments, I'm sure you just want it to be over, although I know it won't really be 'over'. Fairly certain that the scan should be the end of things. If there's anything left you'll probably be given the option of letting nature take it's course or else having a D&C. I understand you not wanting to tell work but do make sure you give yourself some time off if you need it. Thinking of you. xx

TomboyWife · 14/06/2011 22:22

Right, after spending another morning in the EPU, I've been officially discharged. After an internal scan, they're sure there's nothing left in my uterus and nothing hanging around outside it (I think that was their biggest concern -- to rule out ectopic definitively).

The silver lining is that they've had a good look at all my internal bits and pronounced everything to be in good nick and working as it should. No fibroids or ovarian cysts or anything else that might make it difficult to conceive again (not that I had any reason to think there would be).

DH and I are on our second bottle of wine this evening. I'm making the most of being able to drink, in hopes it won't be for long. Grin We're both still pretty down, but we've been reassured by several people that there's nothing obviously wrong beyond being unlucky and there's every reason to think it'll be fine next time.

ToriaPumpkin · 15/06/2011 16:55

Glad everything is over with now Tomboy and you and DH can get back to normal. I hope we see you back here soon xxx

haloflo · 15/06/2011 19:50

tomboy Glad its all over for you now. I like a few other frolickers aly and Spireal to name a couple (hope you both don't mind) suffered early mc's. We all were lucky enough to conceive quickly again (2 cycles for me) and carried healthy babies to term. It is likely that you will too as having 1 mc doesn't increase your chances of another. Hope to see you again soon in this thread, look after yourself.

highheelsandequations · 15/06/2011 20:45

Tomboy glad it's over for you and all your bits look good. As halo says, many people conceive again quickly after a mc, it can sometimes seem to give you a bit of a fertile boost. I also had a mc with my first pg. Hope you're back over here soon and in the meantime enjoy ttc again with a vengeance and lots of good wine and forbidden foods. xx

Flickstar · 17/06/2011 08:09

Hello lovelies, it's been some time since I've visited here and what a lot I've missed!

Huge congratulations to all of the lovely frolickers who have has their babies flo, crazyb, cherry and bellaby I'm so happy for you all!

Good luck next month HH- it's come around so quickly!

congrats to toria!

Sorry to see your news tomboy xxx

Lots of love, flick xx

haloflo · 17/06/2011 10:11

Hello Flick! Thank you very much. Smile

I hope things are good with you? Still out in HK?

ToriaPumpkin · 17/06/2011 17:58

Hey Flick! How's things?

Have had my 20 week scan and all is A-OK. Pumpkin is wriggly (which I'd figured out!) and apparently shy as s/he spent the entire time with their head buried my pelvis and wouldn't come out to be measured, I ended up going for a walk then lying with my arse up on a wedge to literally tip baby out! Got there in the end though and everything is measuring spot on for my dates which is nice. Am 21+1 now so over halfway there Shock

highheelsandequations · 19/06/2011 10:10

Flick good to hear from you :) Hope you're well and enjoying life.

Toria glad to hear everything went well with your scan, cannot believe you're past 20 weeks already.

Hope everyone else is okay, it's very quiet in here at the moment.

Well I heard some sad news on Friday that has left me a bit down all weekend. A colleague's wife (who was a colleague before leaving to be a SAHM) is currently pregnant and they found out at the 20 week scan last week that their little boy's kidneys are covered in cysts and not functioning. This means that there is not enough fluid and so it's likely that his lungs will not develop properly. They were told that he will die within minutes or days of being born. Has left my emotions a bit topsy turvy, alternating betwen feeling so lucky that our pip is okay and guilty that I'm going to have my LO soon and they won't. Don't know whether to send her a message or not, haven't seen her for ages but do occassionally message on fb. And feeling really awkward about seeing him at work on Monday. Sorry for sharing a sad story but the news has really got to me. Was nearly in tears at work on Friday when I read the news. :(

CrazyAlien06 · 19/06/2011 16:49

Awww highheels thats so sad. I would send a message just to let her know u are thinking of her.

I'm doing ok, baby been very quiet today so been worried but I've figured out it's in a weird position as getting little kicks really low down instead of usually high! Crazy little thing. Ive bought quite a few bits now- baby carrier, clothes, and got a couple of cute toy things for his/her pram and car seat :) fell in love with them in John Lewis:-)

What is everyone putting their baby on/in when they are awake ? Friend told me baby bouncer? Or is a play mat better?

Hope u are all well x
15 weeks to go for me!

ToriaPumpkin · 19/06/2011 17:06

Ooooh, there have been a couple of BFPs on the conception thread!

kurlyvoice · 19/06/2011 20:27

highheels, I have unfortunately had a bit of experience in this, with a close friend losing her baby at 22 weeks (from a defect picked up at her scan) when I was pregnant. She has said many times that the worst thing is when people don't say anything, so you should definitely try to say something, however little. But it is absolutely horrible - I spent days just bursting into tears.

crazyalien, I have a playmat and a bouncy chair (a babybjorn one) and DS also likes to kick around in his cot under his mobile too - he sleeps in a crib in our room still. He also likes a beanbag sometimes, but only under close supervision! They like variety... :)

flick, it's lovely to see you back Grin and I hope that you can join us here permanently soon.

And tomboy, I'm pleased to hear that you've been discharged. Hope you're doing ok and that your "WTF" cycle isn't too bonkers (and is super fertile).

Ozziegirly · 20/06/2011 05:08

Hello!

Just thought I would come on and say hello, as an original Frolicker. My DS is now nearly 10 months old and is so wonderful. He's pulling up, cruising, saying "mama" and "dada", and is such a jolly little fantastic baby. I can't believe how quickly the time is going though, it seems like no time since I was first pregnant and now he is more like a boy than a baby.

I can't get over every day how lucky I am to have such a lovely little sweet boy in my life, and the love I feel for him is quite overwhelming sometimes! I went out on Saturday and my DH looked after him, and when I came in the door he let out a shriek of joy which honestly just took my breath away.

I know I am enthusing and there are some really hard bits and he can be quite a handful, but I just feel so lucky and blessed.

highheelsandequations · 20/06/2011 20:43

crazya you might even be more organised than me having bought your bits and pieces! I panic every time pip has a quiet spell but think that's normal. Sometimes I think that because the kicks/movements are quite gentle at times I don't register them and so think there's been no movement when actually there has. I have been given a bouncy/vibrating/rocking chair thing and am hoping to also get a playmat plus a bouncer to go in the doorframe. Hoping that will keep pip amused!

kurly I remember your friend losing her baby. I think everything is just magnified when you're pg yourself and all the emotions just get a bit overwhelming. Sent a very short message yesterday just to say my thoughts are with them.

Ozzie what a lovely post, makes me very excited to meet my little pip.

4 days left till ML, can you tell I'm looking forward to it?!?

bunnygirl80 · 21/06/2011 04:34

ozzie lovely to see you back here. Our postnatal thread is here if you want to join in.

Did you end up moving to Sydney? If so we're having a meet up in a couple of weeks if you're interested Smile

hh so sorry about your friend Sad Enjoy your ML
