MrsWajs · 13/04/2011 18:15

Awww Halo thanks for sharing! It's a great story, despite not being exactly how you'd planned. You sound so content as a mummy!! Can't wait to join you! :)

Hopefully won't be long til I'm seeing you on the other side!

No news to report here, still inpatiently waiting for babyWajs arrival, which I've now decided is going to be on the 28th! Don't ask why cus I don't know!!

cherrycobbler · 14/04/2011 13:51

Wow halo thank you for sharing your birth story, I love reading them, and very glad it all turned out ok even though not how you had imagined/ planned. Hannah sounds like a complete cutie and so glad you are enjoying newborn snuggles - I can't wait to meet our LO!

First day of maternity leave today - its AMAZING! Have done very little but laze around, watch some TV and eat. Yay! Should really get going with my long list of things to do (first of which is: get together stuff for hospital bag) but am sure that can wait till next week. Very odd not knowing if I have two weeks or six weeks to go.

Hope you're not too uncomfy mrsw - am liking the 28th prediction!

ToriaPumpkinHead · 14/04/2011 19:04

Wow halo thank you for sharing. Very glad Hannah and you are well even if things weren't as planned for a while.

MrsW 28th is as good a date as any, and my mum decided when I was going to be born (two weeks before Drs said) and she was right!

Cherry Woo for mat leave! Enjoy being off and having some time to yourself :)

I think I'm in need of a bit of hand holding. Nothing has changed or happened to make me think this but since hitting 12 weeks I'm just absolutely convinced something is wrong or is just about to go wrong. Still having all my symptoms (heartburn, tiredness, constipation etc) and I now have a cold which I think is making me miserable and overthink. My scan's on Tuesday so only a few more days to keep sane but please reassure me this is normal and I'll laugh at myself next week! I remember CrazyAlien going through this a few weeks ago but I just can't seem to shake it. It's probably not helped by the dream I had the other night where I borrowed my mum's doppler but couldn't find a HB. Given that I have never used a doppler before and in the dream appeared to be using a makeup brush instead of the doppler wand probably has something to do with that though...

cherrycobbler · 15/04/2011 11:40

boo for feeling wobbly toria - but remember its completely par for the course and there is NO REASON why you should be feeling like this. I felt really nervous and convinced something was going to go wrong before all my scans (have ended up having multiple) and only last night was panicking about less movement (baby since been kicking up a storm). I think you just don't stop worrying after the BFP - right up to when your LO is 18 years old and hasn't come home before their curfew. You're right that being overtired and feeling ill won't help. Can you just chill out and do some lovely things on the weekend to try and take your mind off it till Tuesday? Hugs and stern words for you xxx

highheelsandequations · 15/04/2011 19:00

Toria I second everything cherry just said, worrying is natural about absolutely everything but you will be fine. Not long till you see your little pumpkin wriggling around :)

ToriaPumpkinHead · 15/04/2011 19:34

Thanks ladies.

This weekend I'm actually not working so will be at a loose end but as OH is around I think I'm going to pin him down and try to get the garden and garage sorted out for summer. Then planning to go out tomorrow night with someone from work to see Your Highness and then for a couple of drinks. Sunday OH is off to scout camp so I can watch all the rubbish films I love that he hates Grin Then I'm working Monday and have to do all the cashing up etc by myself for the first time so that'll keep me busy. That all sounds like quite a lot actually, my life is usually very quiet!

On the bright side my cold seems to be passing quickly. Had eleven hours sleep last night which I think helped! Though last night's dream involved me giving birth to a field mouse...

bunnygirl80 · 16/04/2011 04:20

mrsw I had a "feeling" about the date William would arrive and I was only out by 24hrs. I was utterly convinced I'd have him on 12th November and he arrived on the 11th, so your intuition might be right.

highheelsandequations · 16/04/2011 12:47

Back home and missing my baths already! Was so nice to just lie back in warm water with lots of bubbles and watch pip dance about in my tummy. Really not looking forward to back to work Monday, and loads to do before then. Am currently trying to repair the winter damage to the garden by replanting my pots. Then I have washing and ironing to sort. Then we've people coming to stay as we're off to a reunion ball tonight so have to try and make myself into a glamorous blob for the night. Hoping our guests won't be around too long tomorrow so I can get myself organised for Monday (in the nicest possible way of course). Also have my B and SIL coming to stay in a couple of weeks so starting to think I should really get organised for them. Bathroom is still nowhere near finished, along with the rest of the house. And we still have nothing for pip yet, although have narrowed down pram/travel system things to two.... Someone tell me I'll feel ready for this baby at some point before it arrives!!

Sorry, rant over, hope everyone's well and enoying their weekends.

MrsWajs · 16/04/2011 14:10

Bunny It seems the most sensible date in my head, she's not going to come early (as far as I can tell) so I reckon that the sweep I have booked for the 27th might just be the thing to start things off and she'll hopefully arrive the next day! My little brother isn't too impressed as that's his birthday and he isn't up for sharing!!

Toria Hope you're feeling a bit better today, echo what everyone else says and it's totally normal to feel that way.

Highheels I don't think any of us will ever feel ready! If it's not physical things you're worrying about then it's money, that's how it was/is for me anyway!

Not too uncomfortable yet and still a week and a day to go, back ache is starting to become a problem at night time tho, although to be fair I've had it lucky up until now!! Strangely always seem to get crampy/achey feelings whenever I'm sat down or lying down?? Don't suppose big walks are gonna be the thing to get me going then!

Missyraines · 17/04/2011 14:31

Hello all

Halo your birth doesn't sound as you'd have planned it but a good result in the end!

I've a weird question. Did any of you or are any of you suffering with sneezing a lot or runny noses? I seem to be sneezing a lot and my nose is running but I don't have hayfever or a cold. Just another weird thing my body is doing now it has a visitor on board.

Lovely weather today so am enjoying (well doing) gardening. Hubby away so keep coming in for a sit down on the sofa and did just have a power nap as I'm still exhausted most of the time. I'll be 9 weeks tomorrow.

ToriaPumpkinHead · 17/04/2011 21:49

Highheels I feel you on the bath front! As for being ready, I made a joke tonight to OH about telling one of his friends as Tuesday is their birthday and he told me that he's still not ready to tell people. Well they're going to start noticing soon!

MrsW A friend of mine had BH almost constantly for the last six weeks, no matter what she was doing and swears that walking up and down the track at her IL's house did the trick!

Missy I didn't have a running nose but I did have a lot more snot than normal. Apparently this, along with all the other seemingly random occurences, is perfectly normal!

Not much on up here, didn't make it to the pictures as cold is at the blowing nose every half hour stage so doubt I'd have been popular in the cinema. Luckily this presumably means that cold is on the way out so I wont complain too much. About to go to bed and get some proper sleep as OH is away so I have the bed to myself then need to actually get up in the morning as I need to open up! Then just one more day to go insane. One more day...

CrazyAlien06 · 18/04/2011 08:24

Hey Toria as you mentioned yup
I was going through exactly the same feelings as you 4 weeks ago now!
You will be fine im sure :-) Good luck for tomorrow x

I have my 16 wk mw appt tomoz. Nervous as still no sign of bump! Hopefully she ll check that baby is ok in there then I might relax a bit until another 4 wks and my 20 wk scan lol. I have told myself that if all ok at 20 wk scan I shall get a positive attitude and start trying to organise myself for baby actually arriving into the world instead of living like it may not happen!

On a lighter note I am now on my 2nd week of school Easter hols:-) I have soooo much school work to do it's crazy! Must get it done soon...........

X

haloflo · 18/04/2011 10:00

Just in case I don't get another chance - toria I will be thinking of you tomorrow. Its very normal to worry but its so much likely everything will be ok. Let us know how you get on.

goodegg · 18/04/2011 14:18

Hello all, phooey here from the FTF thread, I've graduated with a BFP on Friday! Woohoo!

Good to see Daiso , Truff , Lizzy and somebeans from the thread, I made it so I forgive you Daiso for being so quick off the mark! I was second month lucky after feeling really demoralised after not managing it first time lucky Hmm

I've just been staying at a friend's all weekend who has a 6mo, it was some eyeopener the cuteness and the total lack of sleep my friend is having. It killed me not being able to tell her about my BFP but we found out on the day we left to see her. I asked loads of questions though and drank rank non-alcoholic beer, it is so disgusting!

Right going back to read the whole thread now to see what I can expect from the next 8 months or so, arghhh!

goodegg · 18/04/2011 16:18

Ok I just spent 2 hrs reading the whole thread Blush

Truff your nausea sounds awful, have you found anything that helps?

Highheels I'm very envious of your lovely bump! I'm a teacher too, loving finding out I'm pg in the Easter hols and pampering myself before having to go back!

So helpful reading the birth plans. It seems to be that the earlier you think about these things, the better. I have an appt with my GP tomoz, I'm generally pretty healthy so haven't been in yonks! Any tips for questions I should ask or info they should give me? Will they have a poke around or anything?

highheelsandequations · 18/04/2011 17:56

Very stressful weekend here after DP's dad being rushed back into surgery yesterday after an operation on Friday. We were told yesterday afternoon that if the surgery was unsuccessful they would need to amputate his leg and were still waiting for news at 10.30pm last night resulting in DP ending up driving to the hospital to see if he could find out what was going on. All seems fine now and no amputation necessary thankfully but was not a good day and needless to say we didn't get much sleep last night. Back to work today and I am exhausted already. So glad it's a 4 day week this week or don't know if I would cope. Didn't even make it swimming tonight, just home to collapse on the couch.

10 weeks of work left :) and only have to see my nightmare class another 16 times :)

MrsW glad you're not feeling too uncomfortable.

Missy I've had a more runny nose than usual, plus the overnight blocked noses and the frequent nose bleeds (although usuall only on blowing!)

Toria I found it really strange that after waiting so long to be able to make a pg announcement I was actually really reluctant to do so once past the 12 week mark. We told a lot of friends at new year, most of my colleagues and friends at work I didn't tell till around 15 weeks. Will be thinking of you for your scan tomorrow and checking in to see how you get on.

Alien don't worry about lack of bump, loads of people have told me they didn't show until 20 weeks or later, baby will be fine in there. I told myself exactly the same thing about getting organised after the 20 week scan, 28 weeks now and still nothing's organised.

goodegg welcome and congratulations. Have you tried Becks blue? I've found it's quite nice whereas other non-alcoholic lager is fairly disgusting. Thanks for the bump compliment, although I now feel huge. Been asked a number of times if I'm sure there's only one in there! I wouldn't worry about thinking about things too early, I stil have no idea about birth plans or anything. Appointments seem to vary wildly from place to place but your GP will probably not do an awful lot to be honest. Ask when your last period was and give you a rough idea of your DD and refer you to the midwives. Check you're taking folic acid and remind you about healthy eating. If you have more than one option for where you could give birth you'll be asked which place, but you can change your mind later. They are very unlikely to do any poking around, I had my belly prodded and examined for the first time at 24 weeks. Apart from scans and booking the NHS seem pretty hands off for the first 16-20 weeks (although I know some ladies have seen midwives at 8 or 16 weeks). Some GPs give information and ask questions, mine told me to wait till I saw the midwife! Hope all goes well for you.

Waves to everyone else.

Daiso · 18/04/2011 19:24

Hey phooey/goodegg you're here!!!! I have been popping back every now and then to see if anything has happened with you but couldn't find anything (lots of posts to read tho)

I had my first mw appt at 5 weeks - pretty non eventful really, asked where I wanted to giv birth, checked my pee and sent off my referral! Had a bit of a scare myself 2 weeks ago - had clotting etc so taken into hospital, saw beanies heart beat on a scan at 7 + 1 - very cool. And kept in overnight in the end due to suspected appendicitis! But touch wood all ok now. Having the most awful nausea and vomited twice last week - once in tesco toilets!! Again this morning too. Am hating the feeling sick but its a good thing
I suppose.

Hope everyone else is ok - sorry for the me me me post. Will try and read through the posts. Hope everyone is ok.

goodegg · 18/04/2011 21:13

Highheels thanks for the beer recommendation - it was Kaliber I was drinking, it was totally disgusting, tasted nothing like beer - maybe a bit like cider - if you'd never tasted cider Hmm will give Becks Blue a go. It did fool everyone else who was on beers though, with pizza an football (while I cooed over the baby)

Daiso it's good to be here! Def doesn't feel real yet, but quite a few of my friends know we were ttc so will be hard to hide it. Sorry to hear you're being sick too, if they thought you had appendicitis it must've been pretty bad! Bleurgh re Tesco toilets!

Hmm I need to look into where I want to give birth I suppose - didn't realise they'd ask that, thought they'd give me all the options and I could choose later. Hmmm...

I'm due on 22nd Dec according to the NHS calculator thingy - Christmas baby yay!

Love and health to all (and chocolate)

bunnygirl80 · 19/04/2011 02:31

alien don't worry about the lack of bump - check out my profile for a pic of my "bump" at 21 weeks Smile Supposedly a small bump that's late to show means you're having a boy-I just took it to mean I had such fantastic abs I had a flat tummy even with a baby on board

hh hope your DP's dad makes a speedy recovery

goodegg I don't think we've met but congrats on the bfp

Have put some new pics of my little cutie pie on my profile - you'll see he has quite a collection of stuid hats Grin

CrazyAlien06 · 19/04/2011 08:38

bunnygirl just checked out your photo, feel very reassured now! Am so nervous about the appt today, will mw check for heartbeat? I am not really keen on the mw so never look forward to the appts anyway x

highheelsandequations · 19/04/2011 09:14

alien I think mw will check for heartbeat at 16 weeks although I didn't have a 16 week app so not 100% certain. Hope you feel better after you've seen them.

bunny loving the new pics and the hats, thanks for the well wishes for DPs dad.

goodegg kaliber is vile, DP bought me some before I found becks, I had 1 and threw the rest away it was so awful!!

I have mw app this morning so have had a lovely relaxing time getting ready instead of the usual rush to be out of the door by 7.15. Feeling nervous for some reason, no need to be as pip has been dancing round all morning, suppose it's only natural. Have a good day all.

MrsWajs · 19/04/2011 09:16

CrazyA MW may or may not check for heartbeat today, I didn't get mine checked at 16 weeks but I heard of others who did. Maybe you could ask her to just to reassure yourself? Good luck!

Aww bunny will is so cute! How old is he now?

Welcome and congratulations to goodegg

Highheels What a nightmare about FIL. Glad everything is ok though. Is he at the same hospital where you had your scan? If so I know what they can be like for not keeping you informed!! Kids have all gone back to school here too, which I'm glad about, get a bit of peace and quiet during the days!! Better make the most of it!

Daiso Boo, for puking in tesco toilets, I'm sure that was an enjoyable experience!! But like you say, keeps you reassured that everything is doing as it should be!!

Toria I am trying the walking thing now, did one with DP yesterday and doing another with my mum today, doesn't seem to be making any difference though, I really do think babies will just come when they want to and no amount of old wives tales are going to change that!!

ToriaPumpkinHead · 19/04/2011 11:54

Welcome to the madhouse Goodegg!

HH Hope your DP's dad is doing better.

Daiso Sorry you're feeling so rough.

Alien Try not to worry about the lack of bump, my manager keeps looking at me in disbelief as my tummy's already making itself known whereas she didn't show until about 20 weeks and even then it was hardly anything.

Bunny Loving all the hats Grin

Had my scan first thing, all is well and pumpkin was bouncing about all over the place. They struggled to get measurements taken as the child is clearly going to take after it's father and refused to lie normally. Heartbeat all present and correct as are the limbs and a massive head! Will put the pic up in a second.

cherrycobbler · 19/04/2011 12:19

yay toria v glad all good at the scan was thinking of you this morning. Uh oh re massive head - don't worry, NCT lady told us the skull platelets don't fuse together till after birth so doesn't necessarily mean that birth will be too ouchy... Grin

hh hope mw appt goes well and sorry you've been having such a stressful time. Hope DP's dad continues to recover well. Your nerves are probably because its been such an emotional few days for you!

alien my bump was pretty small at 20 weeks but is now ginormous at 36 weeks. Enjoy not having to waddle around feeling like you've smuggled a beach ball up your clothes. I think some mw's will check for HB at 16 weeks but only if you promise not to panic if they can't find it (it is still a bit early to def find it every time, I was told).

congrats and welcome goodegg!

mrsw hope you haven't gone mad with the waiting! Am only 37 weeks today but suddenly realised I could be here for the next five weeks getting bigger without baby and it feels like an eternity. Have been lucky enough to avoid stretch marks so far but lots of people say they pop up in the last few weeks so am avidly checking my tummy every evening. Have quite a few bits and bobs to do over the next couple of weeks, but after that would be very happy with an early May arrival! Think I may start on the rasberry leaf tea - but like you I think that baby will come when she's ready and there's very little I can do about it...

OP posts:
cherrycobbler · 19/04/2011 12:24

ps bunny just peeked at your pics - Will is SUCH a cutie!! I love the last one, can't believe how big he is, no longer scrunched up newborn.

missy, forgot to say, I have had constantly running or blocked nose off and on from my BFP to now - not that uncommon apparently. It has made me a bit obsessed with my saline nasal spray and have recently been having whiffs of Vicks every now and then before going to bed.
