Hello Daiso The kettle's over there, make yourself comfortable!

I see we have another one as well with somebeans! Must be something in the water this month!

Sorry to hear about everyone who's ill, I sympathise about not being able to take the "good" medicines, an old knee injury is giving me grief this week and I am very upset at the ban on Ibuprofen! OH keeps offering me his Diclofenacs to be "funny"

cherrycobbler · 22/03/2011 15:27

welcome daiso, congrats! I similarly had no symptoms (apart from obsessive knicker checking) till about 7 weeks - then the sickness and tiredness kicked in with a vengance! So enjoy the symptom free excitement as much as you can now :)

highheels don't feel you should be doing anything round the house, rest rest rest! Here's a pregnancy friendly super strength lempsip (if only they would invent one of those) for you and poor truff and mrsw too. I find that the saline nose spray (you can get from boots) helped a little with congestion and dryiness and its just salt water you squirt up your nose (not as gross as it sounds) so safe to use.

Just over three weeks to go at work! Annoyingly am still feeling pretty unsettled and on and off anxious about ridiculous things, not sure if finishing work a little earlier will help or will just mean I turn into more of a moaning myrtle stuck at home. Am sure its just hormones and normal first baby anxiety but I do wish I could get through a day without this horrid fog hitting every now and then. We have a free Sunday this week after loads of busy weekends so I thought maybe planning to do something lovely might be a nice pick me up. Any suggestions welcome! The sunshine is definitely helping - maybe we'll pack a picnic and head to a park - though will need to bring a huge assortment of cushions to get comfy on the grass!

Have a Lindor egg on my desk staring at me so best go and gobble that up get on with my work!

Just a quickie to say congrats on scan crazy

halo happy due date for 2 days ago! It feels bizarre when due date comes and goes doesn't it? Just like it's never going to happen...but don't worry, it will and hope you're still getting plenty of rest!

Daiso Congrats and welcome!

bunnygirl80 · 23/03/2011 02:10

halo happy due date+2 Smile I'm sure your body does know how to go into labour, but I remember being convinced mine didn't either. I didn't have any braxton hicks or a show, or any of the other pre-labour signs so was convinced I'd end up with a failed induction. As it was I was just very efficient, and just didn't bother with any of the warm up stuff and went straight for the real thing Grin Whatever happens you'll have your LO in your arms in less than 2 weeks anyway and you can celebrate with a massive glass of Wine

Actually the best thing about hospitals here (or at least the one I was in) is that they let you bring in booze, so I was able to sit and watch Will sleeping while sipping on champagne that had been chilled in a bedpan full of ice as my in room fridge wasn't working Grin

Hope all of you with colds feel better soon - it's rubbish not being able to resort to hard drugs....and it gets no better when you're BFing as most things say not to take them then either

Had a wee snoop on the March thread and noticed Superpenguin has had her baby too! Congrats if you're lurking Super Eeeee that means I'm third on the list!!

Updated the grads too, i know somebeans hasn't been in yet so hope she doesn't mind me putting her on the list!

Truffkin · 23/03/2011 10:20

Hope you don't mind, I've updated the list to add myself on! I am feeling slightly more human today and the runny nose seems to be subsiding as well so yippee! I am however, rueing the days recently when I have worried about having no symptoms. Nausea hit me yesterday and I have felt pretty sickly ever since! I've been eating small, healthy things as often as I can manage but DH was quick to remind me last night that I'd been moaning about having no symptoms and he bets I'm sorry now! I know it's a bit strange, but I kind of don't mind at the moment as it makes me 'feel' pregnant IYKWIM?

HighHeels glad you have managed to take a few days off and hopefully the rest will do you good. MrsW I did go home early on Monday and basically plastered my nose in vaseline as often as possible to counteract the soreness from constant blowing! I think last night wa the first night in over a week that DH hasn't had to put up with my snoring due to nose blockages Grin

Halo hope you are resting in preparation for the great escape! Can't wait to hear all about it soon when you are snuffling your newborn

Hope everyone is enjoying the sunshine today if you have it. It's absolutely gorgeous outside and I really enjoyed my walk from the tube this morning. Am hoping to get out for a stroll at lunchtime too.

In other news, I told my boss last week about being pregnant (but swore her to secrecy) as we have some volunteering days coming up that involve things I won't be able to do (scuba diving and abseiling anyone?!) and bless her, she bought me the Denise van Outen 'Bupalicious' book as a present. Some of it is a bit Hmm but I have really taken the healthy eating thing to heart and am now keeping a food diary to make sure I'm getting my 5 a day plus all of the other vitamins and minerals we should be eating. I've also switched to fortified cereal and decaffinated tea!

We're at a wedding on Friday so am hoping I can sneak enough small snacks in my handbag to keep me vomit free Grin

Right, I've warbled on for long enough. Hope all you ladies are enjoying your days and celebrating being half way through the week already!

loving the champagne chilling in bedpan image bunny!

truff v impressed re healthy eating resolution but sorry about the nausea. I was so going to be good as soon as I got my BFP but then basically only ate boiled sweets, M&S percy pigs, clementines, smoky bacon crisps and fizzy drinks for the first 17 weeks as they were the only thing I could keep down Blush. Totally gross but didn't have much choice. Have tried to compensate on the fruit and veg front after sickness eased off though (well, a bit at least).

OP posts:
MrsWajs · 23/03/2011 15:47

Oh sorry Truff didn't realise you weren't already on the list!! My morning sickness snuck up on me much the same as it has for you! One day I was fine, the next day I woke up and felt like I had a hangover and it continued on like that until about 14 weeks - it is absolutely pants but you'll get there and it's all so worth it in the end. Just do whatever you have to do to get through it. I tried sea-bands (which was a bit tricky at work) and they helped a little bit but not sure if it was just psychological or not! Other than that I just ate my way through it, probably why I put on so much weight at the beginning! I think MrWajs found it difficult to understand cus there was no physical illness for him to see (I never actually vomitted) just me moaning about feeling tired and nauseated all the time, so hopefully MrTruffkin is the sympathetic type!!

Have also resorted to the vaseline to nose, had been using my 8 hour cream but figured that just meant I had an expensively shiny nose, so back to the vaseline for me!! Speaking of creams, I also had the 8 hour hand cream (got a set in duty free last holiday, don't always go about splashing my cash on such frivolous things!!) and I only realised yesterday that I'd left it at work!!! Bearing in mind that I work in a hospital where there are people with dry hands in abundance, I slightly freaked out thinking it would be long gone, however I text one of the girls today and she confiscated from somebody last week thinking I would probably be wanting it back!! Thank god! I realise how shallow and vain this makes me sound but it really is a good hand cream and one of the few things I'm not sensitive to, that and the cost of it, means I would have been pretty gutted to lose it!!

Anyway enough waffle about bloody hand cream!! Going to get la bump re-measured tonight so fingers crossed it's had a growth spurt since last week!! My mum got her tape measure out yesterday and got a rather worrying 38cms!! Her estimates are normally pretty close to the actual measurements so it'll be interesting to see what's what tonight! Am also taking my 'rough copy' birth plan with me to discuss that too and see if MWs have anything else to add to it.

MrsWajs · 23/03/2011 15:50

She not it's, really need to get that in to my head!!

Baby is a girl, baby is a girl, baby is a girl . . . . . . . .

highheelsandequations · 23/03/2011 20:54

Well went back to work today and managed to survive, just 2 more to get through then it's the weekend!!

Truffkin very impressed with the food diary, I have to admit I've probably eaten less healthily since getting my BFP, too much freedom not having to watch the scales :) Decided that it's all fine though as I'm still getting all of my vitamins and healthy stuff plus extra vitamins and essential goodness that is provided by toast, butter, cheese, dairylea, chocolate, cake, .... Sorry about the nausea but I know exactly what you mean about the reassurance. I was lucky that I didn't feel too sick most of the time, but I did feel awful if I left it too long without eating so highly recommend lots of snacks. Still remember the awful exhaustion though, so glad to be over it.

MrsW hope the bump measures up good.

Bunny loving the idea of champagne in hospital, I've already told DP I expect him to sneak in my bottle of champagne that's been waiting for me since December if I have to stay in for any length of time :o He may need to decant it into a juice bottle though Wink

On my own this evening so thinking I might just head off upstairs and tuck myself up in bed with lots of pillows and a big glass of ginger beer and lime. Would love a bubble bath but we are still without a bath (and have been since beginning of January)!! DP originally said bathroom would be finished by end of March, now he says it may be done by end of April, going mad not being able to have a nice soak and relax, especially now the pregnancy aches are starting.

Pip seems to be more and more active, just now the favourite time for the frantic dancing in my tummy seems to be between 8-11pm in the eve, especially when I'm reading in bed, and then at about 4am when I've been waking up needing water for my throat, much quieter during the day. Maybe pip just dances all night and I manage to sleep through most of it, hoping these nocturnal habits will not continue after LO arrives!!

somebeans · 24/03/2011 13:06

Hello everyone,

Well I've finally had the nerve to tiptoe in (scared that my four BFP aren't actually real) and found I'm already on the list! Thanks, I feel at home already!

Well, I'm officially the earliest on (4 + 2) so Daiso, Lizzy and Truffkin you're almost seasoned veterans!

Apart from heartburn (which I never used to get) I don't feel PG at ALL and am all-consumed by anxiety. No-one knows except DH (who hasn't thought beyond the elation that his balls work) and two friends who guessed the moment I refused a glass of Wine (what does that say about my drinking habits?)

Have pretty much decided to have a private scan at 8 weeks but other than that any 'anti-anxiety' tips? Also, when should I phone the docs?

Hope you are all having a lovely sunny day :)

MrsWajs · 24/03/2011 14:39

Hi somebeans congrats on your 4 BFPs hehe!! Can't offer you any anti-anxiety tips as I think it's only natural to worry at such an early stage but try not to fret too much and just take each day as it comes. I went to my GP on the first day I got a positive test (mainly cus I didn't believe it) but it's really up to you when you want to call them, they will hopefully arrange a booking appt for you then. Also don't be too disheartened if they just kinda go 'yup looks like you're pg!' that's what they did with me and I was expecting so much more!!

Well last nights appointment went well and bump has grown 1.5cms in a week which is better news, still measuring small for gestation but they don't seem to be too worried at all. Have also put on a kilogram in the last 2 weeks so am happier with that! :) Went over birth plan and she basically said everything I had down was standard and all going well we should be hoping for a nice natural birth in about 4 weeks time!!

Halo I hope you're absent because you're labouring up a storm and LO is on it's way!! That will put me at 2nd on the list which is a teeny bit terrifying!! But exciting too Grin still think crazyd will beat me to it though!

Oh I'm in such a good mood today, cold seems to be finally shifting a bit and the sun is out - what could be better!

cherrycobbler · 24/03/2011 14:58

welcome somebeans! I went to docs at 6 weeks and they didn't do much but give me some leaflets and inform the midwife about my booking in appt. Enjoy having no symptoms for the moment and as hard as it is try to relax! The first few weeks is like the worst, longest 2ww ever - perfectly normal to feel completely terrified and obsessively symptom spot etc.

haloflo how did your mw appt go (was it today)? did they discuss how long they would let you go over/ offer you a sweep?

Yay for weight and bump gain mrsw. Keep eating those biscuits!

highheelsandequations · 24/03/2011 16:39

Hi somebeans, congratulations and welcome. Think I did more than 20 tests (although in my defense, I had lots of internet cheapies in my drawer!) so know the disbelieving feeling all too well. Also know what it's like to be utterly terrified and anxious. Try setting yourself little goals rather than looking ahead to the 12 week mark, as it just seems so far away at the beginning. If you're needing to try and switch off and relax I have the zita west pregnancy relaxation CD and will happily copy and post to you if you PM me your details. I listened to it daily in the early weeks and found it helped me de-stress and switch off the worry for a little while. Do try and enjoy your pregnancy though. I was so terrified in the first 14 weeks that I didn't really enjoy it at all and now I'll never get that time back. I went to GP at 6 weeks with loads of questions and feeling soooo anxious for reassurance. GP was rubbish, referred me to midwives (or said he had, actually had to ring up surgery and chase up a couple of weeks later) told me to save questions till I saw them and spouted a lot of rubbish about not eating too much and getting fit (I was size 8 and exercised 4+ times every week). I didn't tell anyone until my parents at about 7 weeks, then 1 friend guessed around 11 weeks, did do some pretend drinking though! Also had no symptoms at first, although with current DD I got my BFP at 3+3 so not surprising, but soon got the agonisingly painful boobs and sheer exhaustion, everyone's symptoms are different and it's quite normal to develop symptoms later on or not at all.

MrsW yay for bump growth and glad they don't seem worried and yay for the weight gain. Also very glad you're recovering from the horrible cold and you're right, sunshine makes everything seem much better.

Truffkin hope everything goes well at your scan tomorrow, will be keeping an eye in here to see how you get on.

Still feeling a bit grotty and voice has been sounding very interesting at various points today, still only 6 more classes till the weekend, and 30 classes till the holidays :o Feeling a bit guilty that I haven't managed to do any exercise at all this week and wondering if I should start checking that I'm not putting on too much weight, but at the same time don't want to start obsessing. Anyway, can't do any exercise just now as off to get my hair cut in a few minutes, although really wish I was sat outside somewhere with a nice Wine instead. Is it just me or does the sunshine make not being able to have alcohol even worse?

haloflo · 24/03/2011 16:49

Hello, still here i'm afraid. MW appointment was today thanks for remembering cherry. They are happy things are fine in there and are coming to my house to do a sweep on Sunday when I will be 41 weeks. (I thought this was weird at first but aparently normal in my area.) I have already decided that although I want DP there for the birth of my LO, there is NO WAY he is watching the sweep!
Induction would happen at 12 days over (Friday 1st April) & I would get a second sweep before then. C'mon on baby!

Quick catch up as off to my mums for tea shortly. Smile

mrswajs Good news about growing bump & that you are feeling better. Have you only 4 weeks to go now?! I best get a move on then before you get to 37 weeks!

truffkin All the best for the early scan tomorrow. I found that I had to keep eating when I felt sick. White toast, crisps, bascially naughty carbs! I found I couldn't leave the house without knowing I had a snack handy.

Congratulations to somebeans - its really early for symptoms. Try not to worry (I know how hard it is) & take each day at a time. In the early days I tried not to think of the 12 week wait or even the 40 week wait but just thought to the weekend, then to 6 weeks, then 8 weeks. Small milestones make it easier I found. With contacting medical people it varies between areas but I didn't need to see a GP, just made an appointment with the community MW at my local surgery at 8 weeks.

somebeans · 24/03/2011 21:53

Thanks all for your tips. Nice to know that everyone feels anxious! Will just take things on a day to day basis and stop looking for symptoms! Have only one POAS left and hoping that I won't cave in and use it :)

MrsWajs · 25/03/2011 09:29

Had an interesting trip round tesco last night! Bumped into DPs brother in law who told us that he and DPs sister were expecting baby number 3 and that she was 20 weeks gone!! Apparently they'd been keeping it quiet cus they didn't want to steal the limelight from us! I was practically welling up! Bless them!
Anyway during this conversation i started getting period like pains and back ache, not overly painful but noticeable and a bit uncomfortable and my first thought was 'how annoying that my period is about to start right in the middle of tesco!' what a dork! I obviously then remembered that i was bloody pregnant and got ridiculously excited thinking this was the start but no...the feeling subsided after about 10 minutes, re-appeared again less so about an hour later and nothing since. Had fully hoped to get woken during the night with something but think that was just wishful thinking!! Phoned my mum when we got home and she dutifully informed that it probably was the start of something but that it could very well go on for the next 4 weeks until EDD!

haloflo · 25/03/2011 10:01

mrswajs or even after your EDD... fingers crossed feeling that at 36 weeks is a good sign though. I get BH with period pain sometimes and have done since 38 weeks. I asked the MW yesterday (who the more I think about it was pretty rubbish - not my usual one) & she didn't know why I got pains but assumed my body was warming up.

No signs here but I seem to have developed PUPPPs - a horrible itchy rash on my stretchmarks on my bump and hips. Wiki page here & it is horrible. The MW yesterday didn't know what it was - other than it wasn't anything to worry about as my hands and feet were unaffected & advised me to go to my GP if it got worse. Since then I feel it has and I am constantly itching. ARGH. Aparently it usually goes after delivery so fingers crossed baby arrives soon. I have made an appointment at 4.20 pm with the GP. I hope they know what it is and can prescribe, something, anything to give me some relief.

Hello and welcome somebeans! The anxiety is SO normal. Like haloflo, I had to take it one week at a time, and then I found after 8 weeks the time started passing really quickly. I did bucketloads of tests as well, although I had loads of internet cheapies (still do!). Can?t remember when I stopped ? around 8 weeks maybe? I realised that I was STILL worrying about whether the line was fainter or took longer to come up than the last ? that way madness lies.

halo - don?t think I?d want an audience for a sweep either! Hope things kick off for you soon.

Mrswajs - unfortunately I think your mum is right Grin

Don?t worry about exercising highheels, you haven?t been well! I?m paranoid about turning into a blimp too, but I don?t have scales at home so it?s going to be difficult to keep track. I?ve only just started to force myself to walk the mile home from the station in the evening, and that?s only because the weather?s so nice. Still catch the bus in the morning though!

I am also very impressed with Truff?s healthy eating. Don?t worry too much if the nausea gets a little worse and all you want is carbs carbs carbs. Hope your scan goes well.

Well I was 15 weeks yesterday (seriously, where is the time going?) and my bump is starting to look big. Bigger than I was expecting at this stage tbh! Honestly, I can?t win. One minute I really want to look properly pregnant, and the next I?m worrying that I?ll get too big too quickly and be a Weeble come 30 weeks.

Halo Fingers crossed that your LO puts in an appearance very soon!
MrsW How exciting - sounds like you might beat the twins to it after all! The consultant says they will definitely be here by 29th April as they won't let twins go past 38 +0.
Congrats on the BFP soembeans
Highheels was it you asking whether the symptoms sounded like SPD? Yes they do - mine started with pain in my pubic symphasis and has since spread to my hips - ask your midwife for a physio referral, try not to go for long walks, keep legs together Grin esp when turning over in bed etc.

Well I've had a 48h stay in hospital this week due to elevated BP but all seems well now - very scary at the time though as had convinced myself that they would have to deliver the twins and was only 32+4 when admitted. Now 33 weeks and hoping they can stay in until at leat 35!

Big wave to all I've missed! Where's CrazyB - if you are lurking then post to let us know you're ok.

highheelsandequations · 25/03/2011 17:50

crazyd yes it was me asking about SPD symptoms, luckily things seem a lot less painful this week, but have not been to any of my usual exercise classes, maybe the rest has helped. Will see how I'm getting on over the next few weeks and try to remember to ask the midwife at the next appointment. Glad everything's okay after your hospital stay.

truffkin how was the scan?

I think pip had a growth spurt overnight, bump seemed huge this morning! have posted new bump picture on profile to see the difference 8 weeks makes :o

Happy weekend all :)

cherrycobbler · 25/03/2011 18:17

ouch re rash flo - hope your doc managed to give you something for it (other than "ah yes, common in pregnancy... it'll pass"). Sweep in the comfort of your own home - that's service! Gosh - will it be a March or April baby?! Exciting!

crazyd - eek re hosp stay, hope you keep that BP down and things keep on an even keel for you for the next few days. Stories like that make me feel a bit panicked about not having bought a thing for my hospital bag even though I am only 33+3!

truff thought of you today - hope the scan went well and you enjoy the wedding

can't believe they managed to keep pregnancy quiet for 20 weeks mrsw and wow what an eventful tesco trip! all settled down now?

hope everyone has lovely weekends. Have had a much happier Friday than rest of the week so all good here too - must be the sunshine :)

Ooh halo your PUPPP doesn't look like much fun! Poor you. You'd think pregnancy would be a bit less traumatic! It's bad enough that you have the labour at the end without all the nasty things that accompany the 9 months before hand!!
I appear to have been really lucky on the skin front so far as I still have no stretch marks (maybe on account of bump not growing too big and struggling to put on weight?) but now that I've said that I'm sure I'll wake up tomrrow with a road map on my belly!!

Hope scan went well Truff :)

Cherry I was similarly amazed that they'd kept it quiet for 20 weeks!! But maybe as it's their 3rd, the excitement isn't quite the same as when it's your first?? No more period pains since Tesco's tho! Which is just as well really as DP leaves for work for a week on Monday and I really DO NOT want him to miss the birth!!!!

CrazyD I totally mis-read your post and thought you'd said you'd been in hospital for your 48th stay!!! Wondered how I'd missed the other 47! Brain is mush! Glad everything is ok now tho!

Well a friend of mine called last night to say she had a MMC last week :( so sad for her - she was worried about telling me incase I got upset about it! Told her not to be so bloody silly and that I was only upset for her! Was meant to be visitng her on Monday but told her I didn't have to if it would be too difficult but she has insisted I still go, so hoping it's ok. We live about 100 miles apart so don't see each other often and it's the only chance we'll see each other probably before LO arrives.

highheelsandequations · 27/03/2011 14:07

Quiet in here this weekend. Was seeing if there was any news from Halo, hope the sweep went/goes okay and things start moving for you very soon.

haloflo · 27/03/2011 14:59

No news highheels i'm afraid. Sweep was horrid. I don't want to scare anyone as but it hurt Sad. She said cervix was very posterior & she could only just touch it. Guessing this is why it hurt. At that point I had to ask her to stop. Feel disappointed. First that labour doesn't seem imminent and second that I didn't try to grin and bear it through the pain as now I feel i've made no progress.

They are going to try again Tuesday before induction Friday.

Went to GP a couple of days ago & I now have some hydrocortisone cream for the rash but that doesn't seem to be helping. I am using calamine lotion & e45 by the bucketload to try and stop myself stratching it.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend and sorry to be so me, me, me. I will try and catch up properly tomorrow.
