highheelsandequations · 27/03/2011 16:18

Halo poor you, things don't seem to be going your way at all just now. Sending lots of hugs your way.

ToriaPumpkinHead · 27/03/2011 16:55

Afternoon ladies!

Sorry to hear things aren't going your way Flo Fingers crossed baby gets a move on and surprises you soon!

Glad things settled down Crazyd hospital trip sounds scary!

MrsW I can't believe they kept it a secret for 20 weeks! How are your BH coming? Had any more since the other day?

Truff Hope the scan went well and has given you some reassurnce and that the wedding was lovely :)

Not much going on here, had my second midwife appt, she took four bloody phials of blood from me! There were glucose and leukocytes in my urine so I'm getting checked for everything under the sun. I'm also being referred to a consultant due to both my BMI and a genetic condition my BIL has that no one really understands, covering all bases and all that. I should meet my consultant at my first scan and that should be within three weeks! All I can do now is wait for the letter with the date Grin

kurlyvoice · 27/03/2011 17:04

halo, just wanted to reassure you quickly that I also found my sweep very painful and cried when the doctor performed it. And I was on a ward with other people listening, so I had the added embarrassment of knowing that it wasn't private, dammit! It didn't help that the doctor didn't tell me that he was doing a sweep before he did it... I was quite upset with him, to say the least. So don't beat yourself up - they are awful things, particularly when one is not exactly dilated.

Have a Brew and a Biscuit.

bunnygirl80 · 27/03/2011 23:08

halo sorry you didn't get better news at your sweep Sad I think if she could barely reach your cervix then there was little chance of it working anyway, so I doubt you've lost out by not being able to continue. I imagine someone rummaging around an undilated cervix is pretty painful. And no matter what happens this time next week you will have your baby in your arms Smile

Just to reassure the rest of you reading, I had a sweep when I was already dilating and it didn't hurt at all, so they're not always bad. The same with VEs during labour-the more dilated you are the less you notice them

Missyraines · 28/03/2011 09:56

Knock knock

Can I come in and have a cup of tea and a chat with you lovely ladies?

Let me introduce myself. I'm Missyraines and had been TTC for just shy of 2 years. I was in the clear blue fertility members room but am now proudly a graduate. I got my BFP 19/3/11 so am now 6 weeks.
I like the idea of chatting, getting support and advice from other first timers.

My worries and concerns are that I'm a bit older (was 34 in Feb) so that plays on my mind. Also I've no actual signs of being pregnant yet. My boobs feel slightly bigger and I seem to be producing a bit more saliva but other than that I keep having to remind myself that it's finally happened. Should I be worried do you think?

I'm so concerned that something is wrong that I've booked in for a dating scan, privately. It's £97 but I figure peace of mind is worth it. Just so I know my bean is where it should be and actually doing the right things.

I know patients is important but it's playing on my mind. A viscous circle I know as it can't help but we've wanted this for so long.....

Anyway, hello to you all and hope to chat and get to know you all during our venture into the unknown.

bunnygirl80 · 28/03/2011 10:20

You're more than welcome to join missy - the more the merrier. I should have left the thread back in November when I had my DS but they still let me hang around like a bad smell Grin

Congrats on your BFP. I think everyone here will agree that you will spend the first few weeks of pg worrying that you don't feel pg, then slip seamlessly into wishing that the nausea/sore boobs/extreme exhaustion will end.....then it does and you worry that you don't feel pg any more Smile Hopefully you'll get some reassurance at your scan that your bean is happy and healthy.

MrsWajs · 28/03/2011 11:41

Oh Halo sorry sweep didn't go as well as you'd liked but I agree with bunny think it's far easier if your cervix is 'favourable' not that I obviously have any experience of this but have heard it mentioned on other threads.
Fingers crossed something will start happening for you soon. Are you choosing to be induced on Friday or is that what has been suggested to you?

Toria No more twinges here, although I thought I was having it again on saturday night but now I'm not sure if it was a bit of trapped wind/constipation Blush how embarrassing would that be phoning up hospital thinking I'm in labour when I'm just constipated haha!! Have MW appt thsa afternn s wll ask her abut t then and see what she thnks!

Also been a bit worried about reduced movements again, baby was very active during the early part of last week - which I had put down to me not being very well but now that the worst of my cold has gone she's a lot quieter again!

haloflo · 28/03/2011 12:05

Erm, my waters have broke (or most accuratly are breaking at the moment - it feels so gross) Just been sent home from delivery suite hoping my body will go into labour soon. If no baby by tomorrow lunch I will be induced. Another VE confirms that my cervix is still closed (ouch) but I am hopeful now that my body can do this on its own. C'mon cervix and c'mon baby.

mrsw Don't hesitate to get your reduced movements checked out. Glad your cold is getting better.

missy Welcome - those first week nerves are horrible but remember its much more likely everything is fine and everyone has different symptoms. At 6 weeks your hormones are still rising so its normal not to feel that different. Take each day at a time otherwise pregnancy can seem very long and scary. I would write more but i'm a little distracted, sorry. Best of luck.

luckyseven · 28/03/2011 12:20

halo great news that things are starting to happen, fingers crossed you progress yourself. I second what bunny said about the sweep first time I had a similar experience to you and second time in early labour it was totally different and worked a treat as nine hours later I had a baby! Can't wait to hear your news, good luck!

slowshow · 28/03/2011 12:22

Ooh halo! Do you have a birth ball? Get bouncing Grin

crazybutterflylady · 28/03/2011 12:28

Hi everyone!
Just been trying to catch up but there's such a lot. Sorry I havent been in much, I have been working hard towards my last week at work - THIS WEEK WAHOOOO - trying not to focus on the whole pregnancy bit Confused and knuckle down instead so I can go without any stress.

Haven't got much time so sorry I can't do individual posts... hopefully next week I will be able to be a bit less rude Grin

Glad to hear you're all well and welcome/congrats to all the newbies, lovely to see some new faces around!

PS Halo sory to hear about your rotten sweep :( but wahoooo, the waters have gone, well done!!! Good luck for the next bit, I hope it's quick, easy and painless Wink

MrsWajs · 28/03/2011 13:10

Yay for broken waters!!! Grin Will be keeping closer tabs on MN from now on!!

Roll on next week for you crazyb

Truffkin · 28/03/2011 13:56

Oh how exciting to come back to an imminent new frolicker arrival - go Halo hope it all goes really well for you!

Hope your last week at work flies by CrazyB and you have lots of lovely things planned for your maternity leave!

Thanks to everyone who thought of me on Friday, the scan was brilliant! We had a lovely sonographer, saw the heartbeat, DH asked loads of questions and we got 3 pictures plus a DVD to come home with. We told DH's parents and his brother before going to the wedding and they are all very happy (and a bit shocked!) and there were lots of tears. The wedding was lovely too, I danced all night and stayed up until 2am! I was very impressed with myself.

We told my Mom yesterday (after a failed attempt on Saturday when she had a house full of people!) and she was absolutely gobsmacked. Couldn't believe we'd been TTC as long as we had without anyone knowing and very excited about having yet another grandchild (2 at the moment, my brother's girlfriend is due in July and then there's us so she'll have gone from 2 to 4 in one year!)

Just a lovely weekend all round really and I now cannot wait for the 12 week scan! I need to get my referral form filled in and book in with a midwife too, lots to do for me this week.

cherrycobbler · 28/03/2011 14:01

ooooh flo popped waters!! sorry to hear that the sweep was seriously unfun. Whatever happens sounds like you will soon be snuggling with your LO by midweek. Gosh - seems like yesterday that you got your BFP! Fingers crossed for you, hope things start to kick off today and you are keeping zen. Is your lovely DP at home or at work?

mrsw my LO has wriggly days and quiet days too, but don't hesitate to go to the labour ward to get it checked out. I did a few weeks ago and its just v reassuring to hear that heartbeat on the trace for a good half an hour or so. Or have a can of ice cold full fat coke to see if you can provoke some hyper womb aerobics! Are you going to be giving birth at the hospital that you work at?!

welcome missy! As others have said the first few weeks are always nerve wracking as you don't have any symptoms but a positive test (or 20) - 6 weeks is really early to feel anything. Good idea on your private scan, how far along will you be then?

crazyb YAY for impending ML! Good luck with this week.

mumnerves · 28/03/2011 15:24

Good luck flo!!!!! Can't wait to hear all about the birth x

somebeans · 28/03/2011 15:24

Hi all, wow what a lot of new info. Truffkin, great to hear about your scan, it has inspired me to book an early one for 8 weeks (3 weeks today!). I'm still anxious but now only on occasions (usually the middle of the night, humph).

Still no real pregnancy symptoms apart from being SOOOO tired but no change there really. Can't believe I actually WANT symptoms but only 5 weeks - I might have a different story to tell in a week or so!

Hi to Lizzie and Daiso if you are still watching this thread, how are you getting on? I need some people to measure myself by :)

somebeans · 28/03/2011 15:27

Sorry Missy meant to say hi to you as well - I TOTALLY get the anxiety. When's your scan? I booked in at 8 weeks but I could have had one at 6, now wondering if I made the right decision.....

Daiso · 28/03/2011 16:13

somebeans I am having NO symptoms whatsoever. In fact i did another test last week just to double check as i feel completely normal and just like i did this time last month!

I am 5+4 and had my first appt with midwife last week. She has sent of my referral letter to chosen hospital and i should get my appt for booking in in next few days and hopefully that will be for in 3 ish weeks time. I'm sooo paranoid and am constantly knicker checking. When i wiped today i had a small amount of brown blood and then again the mucas was tinged with red blood but a very small amount ( please keep fingers crossed it stays like that) Not worried really as apparently it's all quite normal and is small amount?

Have skimmed over posts but hope that the birth all goes well to those in labour/waters broke and truffkin was also thinking about you over weekend and glad to hear scan went well.

Hope all the other ladies are well. Sorry i'm not name checking but there's so much to read through and my memory is crap!

MrsWajs · 28/03/2011 17:31

No cherry I won't be giving birth at the hospital I currently work at (thank goodness), although the hospital I am going to, I did work at about 10 years ago!! It's a teeny place and a midwife led unit so very relaxed and easy-osy!

Well MW appt was far more succesful today, bump is measuring 36cms as it should be and urine was fine! Baby is head down with legs all sprawled out to the right hand side (very uncomfortable!!) and no mention of any engagedness :( MW said the period type pains are normal and nothing to worry about and also thought it strange that baby had been more active when I was ill as normally they are quieter when mother not well!? Obviously I don't have a sympathetic child!! Heartbeat all fine though so no worries as long as I'm getting 10 movements per day.

ToriaPumpkinHead · 28/03/2011 17:56

Blimey! I go to work for one day!

Flo Very glad to hear your waters have gone, very exciting! Hope you're holding your LO very soon Grin

Truff Glad the scan went well for you and that everyone has been supportive and happy.

MrsW Glad baby is fine, if a bit awkward!

Daiso I've had bright red blood three times so far, tiny amounts though and my midwife is thoroughly unconcerned by it so try not to let it stress you out too much and just put your feet up with a Brew

Welcome Missy There are a few of us in the first trimester atm so plenty of handholding going on!

For all those with no symptoms, so far I had one week with horrific heartburn and nausea about five-six weeks, and other than that I've just been exhausted and had a dry mouth! Oh, and constipated beyond all measure. That has been fun. So don't worry if you're not running to the loo to be sick every five minutes, it's far more likely that you're one of the lucky ones who isn't ill than anything bad, and being stressed is bad for you both! (says she who is still regularly knicker checking at nearly ten weeks and rejoices everytime she feels the tiniest bit sick)

crazydayz · 28/03/2011 19:15

Halo Hurrah for waters going and good luck! Hopefully next time we hear from you it will be to tell us about the arrival of your LO!

MrsW Glad all well with MW - I still think that your pains etc mean you'll beat me to the finish!

Missy Welcome and try not to worry too much.

Truff Glad the scan went well.

CrazyB Good to hear from you and glad you're ok. Yay for ML - I found leaving work really strange though!

Big wave to all I haven't mentioned!

I had a MW appointment today and BP was fine so very pleased I've escaped hospital again until my next appointment Grin!

highheelsandequations · 28/03/2011 21:50

Truff so glad the scan went well.

Halo yay for waters breaking, good luck!

Crazyd good news about the BP.

Daiso I had brown and pink spotting from 8 weeks right through to 14 weeks, terrified me and I ended up at the EPAC twice for reasurance scans but all was fine.

Waves to everyone else, will catch up properly tomorrow.

I'm not long home from work as had dance festival this evening, so was on my feet till 8.30pm and am now very sore and exhausted, do not plan on standing up for that length of time again any time soon! Plus got told today that one of the kids in one of my classes has chicke pox, so need to try and phone the MW and check all okay.
