Hi ladies-thought I would be adventurous & set up the new thread for the final leg of our journey Grin

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
TallulahBelly14 · 04/02/2011 11:20

Hello all, have been trying to keep up with all your updates this week but failing miserably. Promise I'll have a proper read through later today.

My excuse? We got home last night with our little baby boy, who's been a little distracting, to say the least! He was born on Feb 1st in the end, by caesarean after the induction (three rounds) didn't take, and he started getting distressed by the contractions.

I know everyone says this about their own babies, but I still think he's absolutely beautiful! He wasn't so little after all the scans & worries (6lbs 12 oz), but he's perfectly formed. I've had a bit of trouble feeding him so he'll have lost some weight since. But we've nearly got it cracked now, I think! And we are very far from having any sort of routine so I'm just working around him - I'll be keeping strange hours for a while.

But that's it for now, will read through and get back properly in a bit, feeds and naps allowing...

EauRouge · 04/02/2011 11:23

Congratulations Tallulah! Glad you are both doing well and hope you're relaxing at home and having lots of lovely cuddles :) Don't worry about a routine, just lay around feeding him for now and make sure you get plenty of rest- routines can come later if you want!

PDR what fish are you getting? I'm a total fish geek Grin

wigglesrock · 04/02/2011 11:29

Brillant news Tallulah, working around a baby is a routine Grin Let us know the name, congrats again.

roundthehouses · 04/02/2011 11:42

great news tallulah! we needed some more baby news around here Grin i´m another with 2 weeks to go (really 2.5) and really impatient now. Makes it worse that i keep bumping into recent mums who tell me they were 10 days early, 2 weeks early, 1.5 weeks early. Not ONE person has told me they went over yet. wah. makes me think that person almost certainly has to be me.

Angels sorry to hear about the shower worries, really not a hassle you need right now!

No tanning for me - chalk white is my usual tone and anything else will just look dead suspicious and the last thing i need to do is distract attention from my new baby with my peculiar new colour Grin. I am getting a facial and pedicure next week just to keep my spirits up Grin I am not due a wax til the end of the month but if I was I would also be getting all of that tidied up. Less for benefit of anyone else than knowing it will be a while before i get round to going again after the birth!

EauRouge · 04/02/2011 11:46

roundthehouses I went 11 days over with DD, does that help? Grin

I've just been reading on another thread that if you stick an evening primrose oil capsule right up against your cervix before you go to bed then it can help bring on labour. I'm not sure how safe that is, has anyone heard of it before? Confused I doubt I could reach anyway!

roundthehouses · 04/02/2011 12:01

thank you for trying to cheer me up but NO that does not help [glare] Wink

ds was only 2 days over and from the very vague info out there it does seem i should expect similar this time. I need to just drum it into my head now and stop even remotely hoping that he might come earlier!!

No idea about the evening primrose, i did read on another thread someone did that but like you, really not sure if i could reach! I don´t even have raspberry leaf, no idea where to buy it here but I did take it last time and had a lot of very very painful but ineffective contractions in early labour (i.e. irritable uterus) and I´ve always wondered if the two were related.

Do need to ramp up the daily walks and even a bit of sex wouldn´t go amiss but really not sure if I can convince dh of the same Hmm.

EauRouge · 04/02/2011 12:06

Oh god, I hope I don't go 11 days over again, it'll mean I've got nearly 4 weeks to go! I'm going to ask to have a go on my neighbour's DD's trampoline, I think Grin

PinkiePoo · 04/02/2011 12:23

Congrats Tallulah Glad all is well and echoing this others forget routine for now and just enjoy x x x

wigglesrock · 04/02/2011 12:40

Look what we have Wine

Wine Wine Wine to all those who have had their babies already. Don't worry it'll be our turn soon Grin

Ps where's the brie?

Oneof4 · 04/02/2011 12:54

Congratulations Tallulah! Have you chosen a name?

I've just spoken to someone at work who happily informed me she resisted induction with her fourth and went 3 weeks and 3 days over! Why would you do that?!

So sorry to hear of the lack of action Debka. Hope the LO decides to move of their own accord over the w/e.

WaddlingSheep · 04/02/2011 13:25

Congratulations Tallulah! Take it easy and enjoy your lovely little boy Smile.

Right c'mon gals, who's next?

tadjennyp good luck for tomorrow! Hope you'll have that baby in your arms soon! Grin

Ooh, loving these Wine!

Cheers! Wine Wine

WaddlingSheep · 04/02/2011 13:29

Oh yeah, meant to echo what others have said and say: forget the routine, you'll fall into your own little one eventually! I'm the most disorganised person you could ever meet and never bothered with routine when DD was tiny but somehow we did actually fall into one, which is nice! Smile

40Weeks · 04/02/2011 13:34

Great news tallulah I was just looking at the stats to see who was due today! What's the little angels name? How are you feeling?

eau that really made me laugh about the waxing vs. pooing shame. I went on my dsis trampoline when I was overdue with ds2 and whether or not it helped, I did have him within 48 hours... Worth a shot I reckon!

debka how you doing? Hope things are ok with you.

Have out ds2 down for a nap, which be seems to be growing out of. Noooooooo am not ready for that! Ds1 is glued to Disney cinemagic so am sitting down to rest after a strenous spin class.

Off out with the girls for afternoon tea at a Mayfair hotel tm, can't wait. Last little treat for a while methinks

ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 04/02/2011 13:34

I'll volunteer to go over, if that will help. My brother's radiotherapy doesn't finish until I am 40w 4 d, and life will be far easier if she would hang on until then. But that would take me a week past where I've got to with either of the others so is probably unlikely.

40Weeks · 04/02/2011 13:35

Oh and breastmilk what part of n Wales you from? My dad lives nr Barmouth

PDR · 04/02/2011 13:57

Eau I'm only trusting DH with goldfish atm since he managed to kill 3 sets of expensive tropical fish! We got 2 more fantails (I think that's what they are called anyway). Sadly I made the grave error of leaving DH alone to browse around the shop while I popped to the farm shop next door... to cut a long story short I am now sitting opposite a massive, solid oak, fish tank cabinet type thing. We have 6 fish. It's about 5 feet tall. Need I say any more? Angry Don't feel so bad about buying my Bugaboo now though Grin!!!!!!!!!!!! Men!

EauRouge · 04/02/2011 14:22

PDR Grin I used to be like that with fish. I had to get rid of our big tank though to make room for the new baby so I don't have room for goldfish now. I used to have 5 tanks and now I've only got a little 60 litre one :(

40weeks, that tea sounds lovely!

Prof sending you 'late' vibes, hope your brother is OK.

americanexpat · 04/02/2011 14:36

Congrats to Tallulah!

Today is my due date and no noticeable action. I assumed I'd be late so I'm not too disappointed. I saw the midwife yesterday, baby is 1/5 engaged and she said she'd offer a sweep next week if I want. She told me to keep bouncing on my ball in the meantime. I've tried to press DH into service but apparently it would be "more convenient" for work if the baby is a week late Hmm so he's keeping his distance. I may have let loose a stream of profanity when he said that.

slowangels1 · 04/02/2011 14:55

Hurrah for tallulah Grin

PDR I sense you're not too happy with the massive fish tank taking up your room? Hope the fishes are enjoying all that space :)

40 you are still doing spin?????? I don't think I could maange to even get on a bike anymore let alone try and spin on it.

I haven't really done anything to try and bring labour on so I'm probably the most deserving to go late through sheer laziness.

PDR · 04/02/2011 15:10

angels I tried everything last time and nothing worked - not sure why I am bothering this time tbh - just bored maybe!

Just tried to book into our fav restaurant for Valentines night and it's bloody full already Angry Have had to go with second choice and hope for the best! Or even better hope we have a new baby and have to cancel Grin Anyone else going out on 14th?

40Weeks · 04/02/2011 15:46

I hope so pdr but am also being typical woman and hoping dh will organise something as it could be our last night out together for a while. On a scale of 1 to 10, how moody will I be if he doesn't plan anything...?

slowangels1 · 04/02/2011 16:11

PDR we are having an early valentines tomorrow (well, DH doesn't know this yet!) just incase baby makes early appearance. I've just cooked his fave - millionnaires shortbread and will do a big proper roast tomorrow for him. Hopefully my advanced planning will give him a few days until proper valentines day to get me something nice (he's not v good with these things but I live in hope).

We are really stuck on names for LO - anyone have any thoughts on our current 3 finalists: Bess/Bessie, Felicity or Alice.

EauRouge · 04/02/2011 16:14

I love Felicity, it would have been on my list but it sounds ridiculous with our surname. Alice is nice too, I like Bess as a nn- maybe Elizabeth as a given name and Bess/Bessie as a nn?

slowangels1 · 04/02/2011 16:28

eau we thought long and hard about using elizabeth then bess as nn but I just don't like elizabeth enough to use it, plus, MIL doesn't like bess so would prob use another nn for elizabeth which she preferred which would really annoy me. My ggma was bessie on birth cert. It's bess/bessie or something completely different afraid.

PDR · 04/02/2011 16:44

I like Felicity :)

We know an Alice and she is gorgeous - same age as DS and they are great pals!

40 fingers crossed DH is organising fab Valentines Day treat as we speak :) My DH is rubbish at such things so I usually take it upon myself to instigate things! He's pretty good with flowers/chocs etc though which is always good Grin

God, I am being so short-tempered with DS Blush He just dropped a cookie on the floor and I had to restrain myself from shouting at him! He is now eating said cookie off the floor Grin so all is well.
