Hi ladies-thought I would be adventurous & set up the new thread for the final leg of our journey Grin

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
roundthehouses · 03/02/2011 18:17

re. leakages - just to say with ds I woke up with my pj bottoms wet, but only down one leg so not like I was lying in a pool of water or anything. I went to the hospital and they checked and it was my waters, apparently what often happens is waters can break and baby can slip right down and act as a plug on top of the cervix. As it was i didn´t have any more leakage until many many hours later at the hospital they said a bit of the sac was blocking the exit as it were so they removed it and then - WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOSH. and THEN things really started happening.

So it just might be worth getting it checked out, they don´t always leak constantly or gush..

x

TheBreastmilksOnMe · 03/02/2011 19:36

Hello all! Just here to update the stats! Amelia Rose arrived via VBAC at 9.32am sunday morning! Congratulations to all the other newborn arrivals I havn't had a chance to catch up yet! Birth story will be posted in due course!

EauRouge · 03/02/2011 19:38

Congratulations! Grin Hope you are enjoying a nice cuddle and that you're both doing well, looking forward to the birth story.

PinkiePoo · 03/02/2011 19:53

WaddlingSheep · 03/02/2011 20:41

Congratulations Breastmilk! Welcome to little Amelia Smile. Glad you got your VBAC!

roundthehouses · 03/02/2011 20:45

those with dcs already, can i ask did you prepare your older children for what might happen when you go into labour? Ds is 3.5 and a bit of a worrier, he was very worried for a long time that I will go to hospital to have the baby and was worried the doctors might hurt me and the baby. We took him to a couple of appts and he now seems ok with the idea that the doctors are there to help and they didn´t hurt me.

Our plan of action is that if he is at school his best friend´s mum will pick him and his bf up from school and keep him til his uncle can pick him up and bring him home. Plan is 100% for him to spend the night in our own home, with uncle and his gf. So if we have to dash off and he is sleeping uncle and gf will come here and he´ll wake up to them.

We haven´t actually mentioned this plan to him because I worry it will worry him... what do you guys do?

He has never stayed away from home without me or dh except for with my parents but they no longer live near us so thats unfortunately not an option.

40Weeks · 03/02/2011 21:31

Oh congrats breastmilk hope you are feeling well, Amelia is a lovely name.

roundthehouses it's a tricky one, I would talk to him about how his uncle might come for a sleepover if the baby decides to come at nightime, and how baby's like to surprise us when they arrive, that's what makes them so fun etc etc. Make it out to be a big adventure - I know he might still worry but then he might worry more if he isnt expecting it and then wakes up and you arent there. Might be better for him to deal with the anxiety iyswim ? That's just my opinion though... Be good to hear what others think. LAst time my ds went to his gps but it was a quick home birth and he was home after his tea to meet his baby bro. God I am getting weepy thinking about it!

40Weeks · 03/02/2011 21:36

Meant to add, we don't really have a plan this time as it depends on when baby arrives. Hoping for a hb again so they will probably go to gps again as nearest, but if it's night time then will just leave them in bed!

Also, just had reflexology...bliss. Booked again for next week when she is going to go for it in terms of getting baby into action. Only just 37wks today so bit early! And am also going to have it again a few days after birth to help hormones get back to normal.

Sorry, not very exciting news...

knittakid · 03/02/2011 22:38

breastmilk congratulations and welcome to Amelia!!! sooo glad you got your vbac! looking forward to the story, but enjoy your little one.

Yes I second mentioning to mw if you've had some leakeage, for all it's worth as a newby to all this.

I also find myself in a terrible mood, the poor children that i teach (until next Tuesday, wohooo!!!) are terrified of me now...
I have def. felt things move along this past week, find myself really tired and today I panicked that if I went into labour I'd too tired to actually go through it. I still don't know what BH feel like for sure, but have been having period-like pains and pressure 'down there' both front and back.
Sorry, just off-loading...

tadjennyp · 03/02/2011 22:39

Had acupuncture this morning but pre-school rang because ds was feeling poorly. I've felt rough ever since and the OB has booked me into hospital on Saturday at 9am to break my waters! He thinks that will be enough to start me off as my cervix is almost completely thinned. Hopefully on Saturday tadbaby will be here! Must sort out some childcare for the dcs!

janedoe25 · 04/02/2011 07:28

Morning ladies! Congratulations breastmilk Amelia Rose is a beautiful name, hope u are both doing well!

OOhh exciting news tadjennyp hope baby arrives on sat!

well that is me officially on maternity leave god im sooooo happy not to be dealing with other peoples kids just now, i too am soooo grumpy with them!
Had BH almost all day yesterday, started drinking Raspberry leaf tea so think it may be that! Hope my girl decides to stay tucked up in my tummy for at least a week as i need a good rest!

wigglesrock · 04/02/2011 08:29

breastmilk congratulations, lovely name

debka oops, baby must be too comfy, try and get some rest, although I know its hard with others dcs.

tadjennyp exciting news, baby might be here tomorrow Grin

Nothing much to report here - had hair all cut, grey has mysteriously disappeared and lovely and smooth style, am sure that will last for another hour or so!!!!

suzym1984 · 04/02/2011 08:44

Congratulations breastmilk gorgeous name and I cant wait to hear your birth story!

Its my due date today and I am praying that baba makes an appearance!

Is anyone else considering getting fake tanned for the occasion? I am dreading all the non-make up shots and think a subtle tan would make all the difference!

PinkElephant73 · 04/02/2011 09:27

Happy due date to me, SuzyM and everyone else who is due today!

Congratulations to Breastmilk

Still no signs of anything happening here, just occasional period type cramps. Have been sleeping in the spare room all week so feeling much better rested. DH on the other hand is exhausted and grumpy because he has been trying to clear the decks at work before paternity leave. He got home at 10pm yesterday and went to work again at 7.30am. Really hoping the baby comes this weekend!

EauRouge · 04/02/2011 09:38

suzym, nope, the 'new mum glow' does wonders and is cheaper than a fake tan!

One of my friends that's expecting her first has been given a gift card for a bikini wax by her sister Shock I don't think she was too pleased by me pointing out that she wouldn't care what her pubes looked like when she was pooing herself during the pushing stage Grin

I keep having dreams about being in labour, I am getting so impatient now and I've still got 2 weeks to go. I can't wait any longer!! Angry

Good luck to all those due today and over the weekend, hope things start happening for you soon.

snowangels1 · 04/02/2011 09:43

tad I think I've got worse before better after accupuncture, so, hopefully you'll be feeling a bit better soon.

breastmilk congrats - have been thinking about how you were doing.

suzy to be honest the thought of fake tan had not even crossed my mind Hmm . I'm sure mws have seen it all before. I'm just hoping my legs arn't in too much of a hairy state when I go into labour! It's hard to reach everywhere and feel I can only ask DH to help out so much Confused.

Feeling very stressed again today (where did that contentment go?!) as just found out the work on our new shower has buggered up the water tank and now it's leaking and needs replaced ASAP so trying to find someone that can do it quickly as apparently 'it could crack any second' which would mean flooding the bathroom and kitchen and a ceiling coming down Confused . Have spent the last 5 minutes crying to myself about all this building work and getting I think some BHs Shock. To anyone out there - please don't move house and/or get works done on your home so close to due date if you go on to have more children - it is NOT a good idea.

linz17xxx · 04/02/2011 09:43

Hi suzy iv been spray tanned for the impending birth, also had my hair and nails done just to make me feel a bit better about the way I look. Congratulations to all you yummy mummies, i'm so jealous as i'm desperate for baby to come. Had visit of hospital on tues and definitely want a water birth so I hope the pool is free. X

cookingfat · 04/02/2011 09:51

Congratulations breastmilk.
I'm due today (looks like a few of us are) - have told bump we need tiger this party started!

knittakid · 04/02/2011 09:55

Morning.
That's good advice angels, sorry you've had to go through that!

debka, how are you? I meant to write yesterday but forgot. It surprised me that they let you wait three days, I'd thought that if it didn't work they'd move on to the next intervention, so in a way is good that they didn't? hope you are able to relax after those days in hospital, it must have been horrid! Hows your DH?

smallblackflowers · 04/02/2011 10:27

hello all Smile

Congrats to breastmilk!

Debka hope you are feeling a little more rested now that you are home again.

Tadjen good luck for tomorrow!

I saw my mw yesterday, all is fine, baby is 1/5 engaged and back to back. Needless to say, I spent the rest of the day yesterday in positions to get him to turn. No success yet though.

PDR · 04/02/2011 10:27

Congrats breastmilk :) Lovely name too!

debka any news? I wonder if they are hoping you might start by yourself before the next "round"? You poor thing though - how disappointing!

2 weeks to go for me now! Also feeling very fed up and want to baby to come now! Have another reflexology session booked for next week but kind of hoping I don't make it that far! Seeing the consultant on Wednesday morning - I wonder if I can ask him to check my cervix to see if there is anything going on? I'll only be 38+5 so I am thinking probably not...

We are going to the garden centre in a minute to buy some new fish for our tank :)
