OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
ledkr · 08/02/2011 23:11

gosh so much is happening, best of luck to all of you.

Please dont be scared of c section anyone who needs it,i am 12 days on from mine and despite all the unusual running about i have been doing i am not even using pain killers. The op is very calm and serene and recovery really is fast,i was up in chair a couple of hrs later and in shower the next day, home after 2 days.Top tip is to take arnica tabs and to move your legs and bum about the bed before you try to get up.
Also in total support of epidural if pain is strong during normal delivery, after what we have all been thru with our baby i would say take no chances cos your heart will break if anything goes even slightly wrong.

Ella was the most excited she has ever been, she cried with happpiness and hugged little D as if her life depended on it,we had a lovely meal and some nice wine and we were all in bed for big fat gypsy weddings, all in our room we are like right old hippie haha.
Cant wait for news tomorrow xxxxx

knittakid · 09/02/2011 04:35

Oooooh ledkr, that sounds amazing, well done to you and little D!

ZeroMinusZero · 09/02/2011 06:57

Just touching base to say congrats to everyone who has popped. At the mw on monday she said I could pop at any minute (the fortnight before this she admitted what I had been thinking for months, that my 6th March due date was probably wrong and I was probably due earlier... see, I always knew I belonged on the February thread!)

I have some backache and period pains but nothing else concrete yet. Went to second and final NHS antenatal class last night, they've been a bit of a waste of time. Just a 90 lecture about stuff I already knew, because I've read tons and tons of baby books, and no opportunity to make friends. And the woman last night was very anti routines/gina ford. Oh well.

May the popping continue!

ZeroMinusZero · 09/02/2011 06:57

BTW has anyone ever heard before of the idea of having your due date changed this late? I've never heard of it happening before.

slowangels1 · 09/02/2011 09:17

hubbard I hope everything is well this morning and things move along quicker than the 2 weeks stay.

pinkie good luck - very exciting. If you can get through the pain being a fellow pain wimp then maybe I can too Hmm

ledkr now that sounds like the type of homecoming baby d should have had in the beginning (not the PIL prob), and I'm glad the csec recovery is going well. I wonder if csec recovery is as quick if you have an ecs Hmm

zero I think needto had her due date changed closer relatively late on. Must be quite frustrating not really knwoing at all when LO will come. And btw zero - have you had a tour of pembury mat ward? I've been told they arn't allowing them but yet heard of someone who had one last week

Growth scan tomorrow - am a bit Confused as to how big baby will be now as tummy definately feels like it continues to grow and grow and even my massive maternity joggers are getting tight (leaving me nothing whatsoever to wear except pjs).

slowangels1 · 09/02/2011 09:18

and by ecs I mean emergency, not elected.

ZeroMinusZero · 09/02/2011 09:49

Angels my two lecturers classes have been in the new hospital so obviously I've seen a bit of it from that but no official tour. They said there is still a message from on high about how they won't be doing tours but its still being debated so it night happen at some point. Last night they took phone numbers and said they would ring if they ever managed to arrange one. But I expect to have popped by then and anyway I don't really mind about not getting a tour. A hospital's a hospital from my point of view, all the corridors look the same. Must be pretty frustrating for those who do want the tour. I have a friend due soon who really wants to see it and its a shame that incompetent bureaucrats are spoiling it for her.

slowangels1 · 09/02/2011 09:53

thaks zero. I am a little lucky in that a friend of mine did actually get a tour around maternity/post natal unit before it opened (not sure how...think she works something to do with it somehow) and emailed me some piccies so I sort of have a vague picture in my head but I'm one of those who likes to know what I'm doing and where I'm going (ie a complete control freak!). If you want to see the piccies message me an email and I'll send them to you.

Deliaskis · 09/02/2011 09:56

Morning ladies,

Lots of exciting news, I can't believe how many babies are imminently on their way or already arrived by now.

Congrats to new arrivals and also Ledkr for bringing baby D home!

I have finally finished work...YAY! After a couple of weeks of not having much to do, I had a really hectic day yesterday and lunch out etc. so a very busy day.

Saw MW last night and BP is up a bit and have slightly puffy feet and hands so have been told to take it easy, put my feet up and relax...so I am doing exactly that!

10 days to go for me, although MW booked me in for Monday for a check and said 'unless you've had it by then, which you might have you know'...so who knows!

Anyway, stay happy and healthy ladies, so happy to hear of exciting baby news and looking forward to more.

Dx

EauRouge · 09/02/2011 10:03

Morning all, I got bog all sleep again :( Can't wait for this baby to come out! Only 9 days to go.

DD is being really grizzly this morning Hmm and my cat is hanging around like a bad smell, he's got himself an admirer who is sat on the patio and he won't go outside now PMSL Grin

My hands have gone a bit puffy too Delia, I had to take off my wedding ring yesterday. I thought I'd get away with it this time, I had to take it off a couple of months before DD was born but it was quite warm then.

Deliaskis · 09/02/2011 10:24

Eaurouge I ditched my wedding rings a couple of days ago in the middle of the night and I thought it was just cos I was hot but my feet are a bit fat now too. Not as bad as they have sometimes been when on hols in a hot country though (pre preg) so not that big a deal.

Anyway, have just taken BP myself at home and it's fine this morning so am not worried, yesterday was a bit manic plus I had eaten loads of bad stuff as was last day at work so lunch out, cakes etc.! And I rushed into the Drs/MW and she put the BP cuff on my straight away so not surprising it was a bit high.

D

slowangels1 · 09/02/2011 10:54

My wedding ring has been off for months Shock Wink . Think I only made it until 20 something weeks before it came off, but I've been super puffy for ages - my watch hasn't done up for ages and I've outgrown my shoes for a good couple of months Confused.

Challenge for today is to make some labour playlists for my ipod Grin

Just heard from a friend whose daughter is pg and due in a few days and she has only put on 20lbs in the whole pg ShockEnvy . Made me feel completely inadequate as I must've put on 3/4 times that. Guess I'm going to be living in the gym for the rest of the year.

Oh, and keep meaning to ask 40 if she's still doing spin? I can see no way it's still possible to do spin at this point - I could barely walk shuffle the 5 mins to the hairdresser yeaterday.

Deliaskis · 09/02/2011 11:10

Forgot to mention earlier, MW said baby is partially engaged now (didn't say it in 'fifths' or anything, just 'partially') which I had been wondering about as my SPD pain suddenly dramatically improved a few days ago and I found myself suddenly able to walk at a reasonable speed and relatively pain free again. A few people had said it might get better when baby was engaged but I didn't know if it might be wishful thinking on my part.

So anyway, full marks for Babyskis for locating the exit, just needs a little more encouragement to use it!

angels I had been doing OK weight wise until around Christmas and then it's all gone to pot and I daren't weigh myself now! I will wait until after giving birth and then do the cleansing 'this is the worst it ever has to be' weigh in, and hopefully see it start to go down [naive icon]...

Off home now (have been at Mum's with feet up as cleaner is at my house and I don't have it in me to sit there while she cleans around me!) to make casserole for dinner and lunch for DH, like a real Stepford Wife LOL.

D

EauRouge · 09/02/2011 11:13

Only 20lbs?! Shock How is that even possible? I've put on twice that and I thought I'd been very lucky (also running around after a 2 yo that is BF like a newborn helps!).

Angels, I wouldn't worry too much, it does come off. Has anyone told you yet that BF can burn up to 500 calories a day? Wink

I think all those celebs must get lipo at the same time as their C sections, it's not normal to be back to normal that soon after birth. I was told it takes 9 months to get that big and it takes 9 months again to get back to normal, that's a much more realistic (and less depressing!) time frame.

slowangels1 · 09/02/2011 11:26

eau we got told at our NHS antenatal class that losing weight through BFing was all a myth and not to expect to lose weight that way.....

ZeroMinusZero · 09/02/2011 12:03

How interesting my class last night said that you do lose weight through feeding but I can easily believe that she was wrong. Just goes to show how many myths there are out there

EauRouge · 09/02/2011 12:03

It's not a myth but it doesn't work for everyone. The calories in breastmilk have to come from somewhere!

There's lots of good info here on dieting and BF- www.kellymom.com/nutrition/mom/index.html

EauRouge · 09/02/2011 12:04

Sorry, forgot to do the proper link thing- www.kellymom.com/nutrition/mom/index.html

That's a great site for BF info in general btw, I've found the NHS is very hit-and-miss when it comes to accurate BF info.

WaddlingSheep · 09/02/2011 12:31

I don't understand how celebs don't end up with saggy skin Confused.

I lost my baby weight within 2 weeks last time (not on purpose) but ended up with a horrible saggy pouch of empty skin Sad. I hope it won't get worse this time! Although my tummy is now like a road map, oh well I have to accept that my bikini days are well and truely over!

WaddlingSheep · 09/02/2011 12:35

I think that BF helps your uterus go back to it's original size so your tummy will go down a little quicker (?) I'm happy to be corrected if I'm wrong! Grin Also, it uses calories but you have to make sure that you're taking calories in to keep your supply up (I think).

americanexpat · 09/02/2011 12:36

My mother insists she only put on about 20 lbs with both pregnancies. I've put on a bit over 2 st. I think you just gain what you're meant to gain, regardless of the guidelines. angels - you've had an extremely rough pregnancy so don't beat yourself up over the weight gain.

I was having contractions during the night but they seem to have stopped. More uncomfortable than painful and not enough to keep me awake long. Now I feel a lot of stretching and pressure in my pelvis, hopefully a sign things are going to kick off soon (though the thought is making me panic!).

EauRouge · 09/02/2011 12:38

Yep, it does help shrink your uterus back to its normal size. You don't need to take in extra calories to help your supply, your body will prioritise milk production for your baby- clever, innit Grin. You do have to make sure you eat healthily though, you need to have a decent diet to help recover from birth and deal with the sleep deprivation. So any kind of crash diets, low carb diets etc are generally a bad idea but eating healthy, low fat stuff is fine.

knittakid · 09/02/2011 12:59

amer it could be the beginning! fingers crossed for you.

Have just been back from mw, no protein and low bp so very happy about that as spent whole night worrying about it. Babykid not yet engaged but in position, now I worry he's not going to be able to engage (apparently that's what I did, never engaged)...

I've also put on a bit over 2 stones, I think those guides of how much you are supposed to put on are a lie, there is no way i could have put on any less without undernourishment, and everyone is built differently and has different levels of activity. Amer is right in saying that you should not beat yourself up about that angels.

wigglesrock · 09/02/2011 13:03

Pinkie Poo so exciting - good luck

waddlingsheep I think my bikini days were over about 10 years ago Grin Glad you all had lovely evening ledkr.

Saw my friend this morning for a bit of a catch up, strange to think the next time I'll see her, the baby will be here (hopefully!!). She lives 2 mins away from the hospital so she's already on takeaway food fruit and veg duty for hospital stay.

I will not tell you how much weight I've put on this pregnancy as I like you all and feel that you may push me out of our lovely group or talk about me in AIBU Grin Although I hasten to add I was not a skinny minny to start with!!!

WaddlingSheep · 09/02/2011 13:13

Ooh, meant to say Good Luck Pinkie!

This baby has moved in a weird way and now my tummy is really hurting! My bump has really dropped Hmm.
