Hi ladies-thought I would be adventurous & set up the new thread for the final leg of our journey Grin

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
MissTFied · 01/02/2011 20:19

Same here 40. I too am so tired and have been watching DVDs in bed with DSs, so I feel very guilty. They are good boys though. I have also been overeating. I get really hungry, but have got to watch the heartburn (am on Ranitidine).

And I too have got some new PJs! Hooray hooray! Wild girls aren't we?

MissTFied · 01/02/2011 20:22

BTW, re the raspberry leaf tea/tablets, I am taking 2 x tablets per bay (they are the higher strength ones). They are only supposed to tone your uterus for a more efficient labour once it gets going, and not supposed to bring on labour.

They worked for me as I took them in all of my pregnancies and dilated really quickly.

ledkr · 01/02/2011 20:23

hi all, shocking in law story on chat now, feel better already xx

Dreya · 01/02/2011 20:26

Evening all. I haven't been able to catch up on all the posts, chatty bunch that we are!
LEDKR Congratulations! I love the maybe name Delilah, it's beautiful.
Needto Coongratulations to you too. He is gorgeous! Glad to hear you're both doing well. Benjamin is also a lovely name.
Well my due date has come (today) and almost gone. Woke up this morning to about 10 text messages and 15 emails and posts on my FB page asking if I'd had the baby/there was any progress etc.. I did have some period pain type cramps yesterday and the day before but they seem to have gone now. I have to see the midwife on Friday to discuss induction. I had planned to have a water birth. Does anyone know if induction will prevent that? I hope not. Sad
I have been drinking raspberry leaf tea for about a fortnight and bouncing on my gym ball.
Now I cannot remember who/what else I was going to mention! Grin

MissTFied · 01/02/2011 20:34

Hi Dreya. I don't believe you will be allowed a water birth with induction as they will need to monitor you. Perhaps someone else might know a bit more?

I have always tried not to be induced, and went over by 11 days with my DSs. I have also had two waterbirths, so I hope you get one too as I can't recommend them enough.

PDR · 01/02/2011 20:35

Hi all - lovely names ledkr and needto! I am so ready to have my baby now! I don't want to wait any more!

Taking of overeating I have just had 2 Mini Magnums Blush Am considering another one when Silent Witness starts Shock I am home alone as DM at choir and DH working late so I have become an unstoppable eating machine Wink

DS went to nursery this morning and then soft play this afternoon so he was suitably shattered by 6pm. How evil am I?!!

MizK · 01/02/2011 20:41

Hi everyone just checking in to congratulate the new mummies on their gorgeous babies! Honestly I've just played catch up with the thread and its so good to read how everyones getting on - although we're all in different situations etc I feel like its so supportive to have this lovely group - hmm hope that wasn't too gushy? Blame the pg hormones - I have just wept through an episode of Got to Dance, say no more.
Hope everybody is not too tired? Honestly cannot sleep much at all now, feel too big and achey to get comfortable and end up lying awake for ages - then getting up at 7 to get DCs to school, waaaa!
ledkr hang in there with your horrid PILs, and they will get the hint, sounds like your DH is manning up and sticking up for you which has to be a good thing x

Dreya · 01/02/2011 20:44

Miss that's what I thought Sad I really want a water birth too so I think I will hold off on being induced for a bit longer if I can. I don't feel uncomfortable or in any pain or anything. I got a bit excited when I got the cramps! I'm going to go for a long walk tomorrow and might pick up a dozen pineapples from the market! Grin

MissTFied · 01/02/2011 20:50

Hope the walk works Dreya. Perhaps your midwide will give you a sweep next week? My midwife said she will do one when I'm 40 + 7 if I want, and that she never books people in for an induction until 40 + 14, so maybe yours will be like-minded?

I am not even considering that my baby will come next Tues as they have never been on time before!

PDR · 01/02/2011 20:56

Dreya and MissTFied you can refuse induction if you are not too uncomfortable and they will offer you increased monitoring instead (daily?) disclaimer: I would be induced tomorrow given the chance Wink and I am only 37+4 Grin!

I am also thinking of going for a walk tomorrow Dreya :) Have been getting a lot of cramps these past few days whereas with DS I didn't feel anything at all until I was actually induced.

TMI but I have noticed that when I need a poo I get really bad period pains - and cannot hold it very long at all - I have to go to the toilet immediately if I feel the urge Blush Not had that before (apart from when on period). Wonder if it's a good/bad thing?!

ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 01/02/2011 21:05

Hello, hello, hello. I have been on a self-imposed MN ban because I really, really needed to get my tax return in on time this year (and, um, get last year's in as well... Blush) and the necessary documentation was scattered all over the flat (I wasn't sure where, but largely under piles of crap). I finally got it in last night with about an hour to go until the deadline. Hurrah!

And today I had an antenatal appointment and scored a flu jab (my GP has been out of stock for a couple of months, but the hospital just got a new allocation of 600 doses in for pregnant women and I got the very first one as they were literally sticking the "Do you need a flu jab?" posters up as I arrived).

Now I will go back and read and try to catch up with who has had their babies already...

PDR · 01/02/2011 21:07

Oh prof we thought we had deeply offended you or something Wink Welcome back! Bloody tax man - bain of my life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

wigglesrock · 01/02/2011 21:11

PDR I have the same "poo thing" Grin

smallblackflowers · 01/02/2011 21:15

same "poo thing" for me too Grin

MissTFied · 01/02/2011 21:35

I think I would do that - refuse induction - PDR, as I just tend to cook babies a little longer. It's never got to that stage though.

Sounds like something's moving for you though! Even if it is just poo!

Dreya · 01/02/2011 21:46

PDR Now you mention it I got the cramps right before I had a good erm..clear out! Sorry if TMI.BlushI am sure I have read/been told that this often happens just before you go into labour. I'd rather it happen before than during! I have been worried about that tbh. I'd hate for DH to see me poo meself! Shock
How overdue were you when you were induced with DS?

ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 01/02/2011 21:50

No, I had just deeply offended HMRC, judging by the letters they were sending me...

earlgreyismynectar · 01/02/2011 22:04

Hello Prof! Nice to see you back :)

I too have the same poo thing Grin

Congratulations Needto!!! What a completely brilliant birth story!! The G&A can do strange things to you!! Benjamin is absolutely gorgeous and I love his name! Shock at MW not taking any G&A for you!! I got one can delivered to the house which I was told was half an hours worth which she said is standard for a HB. I think she saw the look of panic cross my face and the next day I had a phonecall to offer to deliver another two - yes please! Anyway, you sound completely smitten, enjoy lots of lovely new born cuddles! You did brilliantly!

Looking forward to hearing of the others!

Good to hear you're home Ledkr and Delilah is feeding well! I love the name too, all of them! You seem to be such a natural mama!

When I went into labour with DD I'd spent the whole evening on my hands and knees painting the skirting board in her room! This followed a busy, active day, I'm convinced it helped bring it on! I sat down around 8pm & started to feel really uncomfortable with period like cramps and by 1.30am was 8cm dilated. I'm hoping for a quick one though I'm convinced I'll be late, I agree there probably isn't much you can do to make it happen but no harm in trying! Babies come when they're ready & external stresses of moving and looking for a new house are probably gonna cause this one to hang about where it is!

Hope you're all feeling fine! Looking forward to more stories x

PDR · 01/02/2011 22:26

Dreya I was almost 2 weeks overdue with DS but had spent a week of that on the ward basically on enforced bed rest due to high blood pressure. High enough for them to admit me but due to combination of lack of staff, lots of babies that month and a few emergency sections, I had to wait that long for a slot. My hosp is quite small though - only 6 delivery suites and 1 theatre so they can only induce 2 ppl per day. I think being induced once has resigned me to the fact that I will be induced again so rather sooner than later. My cousin refused induction though and has had 3 healthy (but big) babies at term +14, 15 and 10. She is small and they were all over 8lbs but just needed G&A and no stitches. She came home straight from the delivery suite each time as well I think (cow) Wink

Grannyapple · 01/02/2011 22:32

ledkr just read your pil post on chat-sorry had to put my 2p bit worth on there so apologies for the long post on there! Absolutely raging I am! Sounds like they behaved exactly as u thought they would originally..

I have been so bored today...must go for long walk tomorrow & thurs-have mw appt on fri & baby had better engage by that point!!

OP posts:
tadjennyp · 02/02/2011 02:03

Sorry about your PILs ledkr. So bloody selfish. Hope everyone is having a quiet, comfortable night.

PinkiePoo · 02/02/2011 06:35

Oh lordy lord, i turn my back for 5 mins, and now i cannot keep up with posts!!!

From the jist of it....dreya lets hope this is your time now! Excited for you!!

To all those who have been induced....hope all is well??!! Cannot wait to hear those updates!

Anyone heard from breastmilk? Things were happening for her a few days ago, hope everything is ok?

Another shocking night for me, thanks for all the sleeping on back advice ladies. Made sure i was propped up a little more, but as soon as it hits 4am, i get the back ache, bump pains and rib pain, so off i go relocating to sofa.
Had such a crap day yesterday....rung HMRC re. MA, and it had been disallowed as i have not paid enough NI!! So rung up NI people and paid even more, so gonna appeal it again today and HOPEFULLY they accept it. I completely lost it on the phone, and acted very unlady like, but never mess with a heavily pregnant lady right??!!

anyway hopefully today will be a better day...MW apt later. Hope i don't have to have the dreaded routine blood tests, can't bear them!!

ZeroMinusZero · 02/02/2011 06:45

Saw the new Pembury hospital last night, I know there are a couple of other Pembury-ers on here. It looks quite nice. Had an antenatal class but it wasn't very useful, sadly, and there was no opportunity for anyone to talk to each other so I couldn't make friends.

Can't believe ledkr's PILs, they are just incredible

suzym1984 · 02/02/2011 08:21

Congratulations on the new arrivals! I am so Envy at ppl who have their LOs already!!

Dreya I too am hoping for a waterbirth and I am considering acupuncture if I go overdue to try and avoid a medical induction. A few friends have had it when they went over and went into labour usually within the same day. Might be worth a try if we get desperate?!

Would someone please direct me to where I can read about ledkr's in laws? I have been dying to hear all about it!

Oh, and cant remember who mentioned it but I have that poo thing too Blush. Last night the pains were that bad I got worried about how I would cope when its a baby coming out instead of a poo!

Well, today I am going to the cinema to watch The King's Speech, and then off to Holland and Barratt's to get more raspberry leaf tea as my box is nearly empty now! oops!

snowangels1 · 02/02/2011 08:49

PDR they were only mini magnums - so only count as one when eaten together Wink

ledkr will pop over to chat in a min to see the incredible terrible PIL story.

Same poo thing here too. Thought that one was just me! I'm averaging at about 2 a day too Blush . I keep wondering if it's my body trying to give me practice at pushing baby out (OK, I know they are 2 completely different things but mw did say they will ask you to push like you're having a poo Wink )

Good to hear from prof - was only thinking of you last night and wondering if you'd ever pop back, and here you are! Glad you got the tax all sorted.

zero thanks for the pembury feedback. I had an appointment there last week and going again next week for scan. I thought it was nice, but not as good as they are bigging it up IYKWIM.

At the risk of everyone jumping on me in rage after all the rants of feeling rubbish, I've had this odd sort of contented calm feeling the past 3 days - it's like all of the aches and pains etc are annoying, but I feel more like myself than I have since getting pg (and have felt rubbish the entire time) and I feel an odd chilled happiness/complete contentness with everything. I just want to be in my own company/with DH and do relaxing things and enjoy feeling like this. Do you think this is hormones so labour is becoming closer? Maybe it's the angels1 version of nesting Hmm . Feel tired but have managed to do a bit more in the day, a bit like the energy spurts they talk of. And I may of course be back to my usual rubbishness later today and wish I'dnever mentioned it!.
