Hi ladies-thought I would be adventurous & set up the new thread for the final leg of our journey Grin

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Oh breastmilk am thinking of you. If you want to get Ito the water then get in the water. Tell her you don't care what their policy is, you have agreed it with consultant and thats that - threaten to leave, be as unreasonable as you like. This is YOUR labour/birth experience and who are they to stress you out, which potentially will slow everything down and be counter productive. And yes, get dh to do it for you as lost suggests.

What's their reason for no water when you are a vbac anyway? Does anyone know? Obv don't expect breastmilk to answer! I know there is always concern about scars splitting but to the best of my knowledge, that only happened in the days when c sections were top to bottom incisions, as opposed to horizontal ones they do now.

knittakid · 29/01/2011 14:49

breastmilk I hope this gets sorted out! and as others said, let DH do the talking and use the 'she's mad' strategy. I've seen it work in films...Wink

I am so behind everybody in here that I have to read a few pages back for it to be understandable, like only now I've washed the baby bag and planning on packing the hospital bags... still have lots to buy for me, like pads, and the plastic sheeting for the house, and towels, but them i still have 6 days of work left...Sad
Seeing you all is so exciting and makes me very very Envy

lostfromoz · 29/01/2011 15:27

knitta I'm working one more week too, it sucks, doesn't it! Just want to be at home nesting and chilling out and gathering strength and just enjoying the excitement

knittakid · 29/01/2011 16:31

It does suck! feel exactly the same lost...

smallblackflowers · 29/01/2011 17:21

Ooh, just checking in for the day, and what an exciting day it seems to have been!

thebreastmilksonme and needtosleep yay, it looks like you'll be seeing your babies fairly soon. breastmilk really hope you manage to get your waterbirth.

semper well done on your driving test pass!

Nothing to report from me - cramps have completely eased off and I'm feeling fairly normal again. Boo.

TheBreastmilksOnMe · 29/01/2011 18:08

Thanks for the tips everyone. My contractions are coming every 7mins and lasting between 20-45 secs. Hows needto I wonder? sbf it may well kick off again tonight for you- sending you some of my labour vibes Grin

roundthehouses · 29/01/2011 19:12

good luck breastmilk! hope things keep moving along for you too needto! i´m not even 37 weeks til tuesday so v. jealous at all this activity Wink

Oneof4 · 29/01/2011 19:38

Exciting times ladies...and we're not even in Feb yet!

Have had SUCH a frustrating day with the oldest DSD, who's quite self-centred. Normally we make it work okay, but I think that being in an advanced stage of pg has robbed me of all my patience and she can sense weakness :). Somehow I managed not to shout, but I feel rotten and bad for DH who feels the undercurrants. Or should that be currents? I obviously mean the non-raisin one. :)

Sorry - just needed to vent gently before re-joining the fray downstairs.

Let us know when there's news Needto and Breastmilk!

NeedToSleepZZZ · 29/01/2011 19:40

Aaaargghhhh....!
Mad grumpy rant warning......
When is it going to start properly????? I'm so tired and fed up with these stop start contractions, has anyone else had this? They're strong enough to make me stop and breath slowly but not strong enough to make me think this is established labour. I've been out for 2 walks today and contracted all over the place then watched a dvd loudly (thanks for the tip wiggles Grin) but they started going away again then coming back, at one point they were every 8 mins then went back to every 20. So tired, sorry everyone Sad

breastmilk please make sure your DH is strong with the mws, the one I saw yesterday wasn't very nice at all and I wish I'd said something now. How are you feeling, I know what you mean about sitting down, I have to stand and rock my hips through them. Can I ask if you've had a show/ lost plug?

debka · 29/01/2011 19:55

Thanks angels I think since this is my second induction no-one is bothering to tell me anything, although the cons. did say only water in labour. Shame I already bought EIGHT bottles of lucozade! Ah well, DH will be happy! Don't like the thought of being injected with insulin, but last time I couldn't eat a thing, which I imagine keeps sugar levels pretty low. Wink

needto when I was in hospital last time being induced and was getting on/off pains bt not proper labour I was given co codamol and a sleeping pill and had about 6-7 hours sleep. Do you think you could try that? Getting some rest would prob be the best thing for you.

PDR · 29/01/2011 20:05

needto I think I am having sympathy pains! No pattern at all just feel very crampy so going to have a bath and see if that helps. I'm sure it's not the start of anything exciting though. Have you taken any painkillers? Really hope you can get some rest - thinking of you x

NeedToSleepZZZ · 29/01/2011 20:23

I've taken paracetamol but it doesn't touch it unfortunately. Thinking about trying the TENS when OH gets home from work and seeing what happens. Just looked up stop start labour and it seem quite common, also heard (please let it be true) that it makes for a quicker proper labour as your body has been practising.

debka hope you're enjoying your last weekend before b-day!

EauRouge · 29/01/2011 20:29

needto, I had a really long latent phase with DD but then went from 2cm to 10cm within about 45 mins, the MWs nearly fell over in shock Grin

Then I think the second stage was about an hour but I don't know if that's long or not. Mind you, I was off my face on G&A so it only felt like about 5 minutes!

Good luck, try and get as much rest as you can x

PDR · 29/01/2011 20:44

needto excellent idea to try the TENS :) I found it really helpful in my 1st labour. Will also give you something to think about other than the pain.

earlgreyismynectar · 29/01/2011 20:47

Just checking in to see progress! TWO now in labour! All the very best Needto & Breastmilk! I hope things pick up for you Needto, I can imagine it's frustrating not to mention tiring. Here's to a fast dilation & second stage! I agree, try to get as much r&r as you can now before things hot up! Good luck with getting your water birth Breastmilk, I for one would create a bit in a calm but firm manner as you have been told by your consultant you can have this and this has been your expectation all along. As for running out of liners, that's unbelievable. There must be something that can be done. There is only one birthing pool at the local hospital here & if it's taken (or they've run out of liners presumably) then it's tough. I asked for it with DD but was told it was taken which was unfortunate. Anyway, I hope you get it & if you're beyond making your point then perhaps your DH can be your advocate?
Babies soon!!! Tad (if I remember correctly?!) and Debka, sounds like you'll be next!

Nothing happening here though I am making no concerted effort to encourage it with DP currently away! I'm quite happy to wait a little longer! Baby has been very quiet and not it's usual wriggly self. Assuming it's having a rest day but missing that movement already!

Great news about passing your driving test Sempr! Good for you, it's a proud moment!

Enjoy your Sat night everyone!

debka · 29/01/2011 20:51

needto can you BELIEVE that guy on the childbirth thread? I have never got so angry at anyone on MN before. Had to leave before I pelted him with Biscuit s.

NeedToSleepZZZ · 29/01/2011 20:59

I know!!!!! He's awful, I got so cross because I couldn't word my reply properly and ended up resorting to the Biscuit! I'm awaiting a response from him as I'm in a foul mood and he seems the perfect candidate to be on the receiving end of my Angry

debka · 29/01/2011 21:05

He's ignoring us because we are RIGHT and HAVE A POINT and above all were POLITE. OOoo he's really got my back up. So unnecessarily rude and aggressive.

WanderingSheep · 29/01/2011 22:09

Just read that thread! The OP is just scaremongering not helping at all! He just thinks he's right and no amount of telling him otherwise will change his opinion.

How's it going Needto and breastmilk? I hope Breastmilk gets her water birth!

40Weeks · 29/01/2011 22:11

Is that the hv moaner?

wigglesrock · 29/01/2011 22:14

What a wanker silly man on that thread. What was the point in the post to begin with, just a general warning Hmm I've met some dippy easily distracted HVs but there's no malice/threat with them and some have been really decent.

NeedToSleepZZZ · 29/01/2011 22:17

Yes, not sure if he's for real to be honest.

Just started a thread in childbirth asking for tips on long latent phase labour as it's now been 44 hours of contractions and not getting anywhere, ggrrrr.

breastmilk how are you feeling? hope you're feeling well Smile

knittakid · 29/01/2011 22:30

wow that's some thread! what's up with him? it seems to me he's got an agenda that is not exactly what he's saying in the post. Perhaps the 'big society' has gone to his head, so instead of trainned HV we should just fend for ourselves. needto you should not be reading those things and getting all angry!!!

40Weeks · 29/01/2011 22:52

Oh feel for you needtosleep did you manage to get any Rose or Jasmine oil? Or getting dh to rub 2 fingers width below the ankle bone, this was a tip from my reflexogist. You can maybe google other suggestions? I know it's prob the last thing on your mind but sex might work? The stuff in dh's 'love jam' contains prostaglandin which is what they use in the pessary to induce labour.

Otherwise try reading and resting while you still can or you will be even more exhausted than you probably are now. Big hugs

EauRouge · 29/01/2011 22:53

I think he's right, I'm pretty sure I can see my HV in the bushes over the road, wearing night vision goggles. I'll have to wave now or she'll think I'm being rude.
