OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
PinkiePoo · 28/01/2011 07:45

BIG FAT CONGRATS TO LEDKR wonderful news, and laughed so much when you soaked everyone, Titanic stylee!

needto really really hope this is it for you honey. And if so, make it a speedy one!!

Hope the rest of us still left in the waiting room are all ok this morning?! I have a feeling i will be one of the last ones left, twiddling my thumbs!!

Feel crap yet again this morning, just cannot shift this cold and sore throat has come back. DUVET DAY TODAY!!!! Grin

roundthehouses · 28/01/2011 07:47

congrats LEDKR!! have i said that yet?! sorry if repeating myself, did lurk a bit last night and meant to post but internet probs and then ended up going to bed super early. Had quite a lot of pelvic pain yesterday felt like baby was burrowing right down but fine so far today.

Exciting news Needtosleep - good luck and keep us posted!!

snowangels1 · 28/01/2011 08:00

tad fingers crossed everything moves quickly for you now

40 thanks for PRUH update - interesting to hear. I went to all singing all dancing new pembury hospital yesterday for apt (only been open 2 days!) and was very clean and bright. Had to check in on a touch screen computer and then wait for my name to come up on a massive tv screen to be called for appointment. But, other than that, just a nice new but nothing too special looking hospital from what I saw.

ledkr so glad DH is getting priorities right now re: PIL and hope you're OK.

oohhhhhh needto am so excited for you - keep us updated as I will with great excitement be assuming no news is good news :)

DH told me yesterday that I've been snoring so loudly I wake him up alot (and he's sleeping next door - no room for him with all these pillows Wink ) and I discovered I'm now a bit incontinant (sp?). I feel so glam Grin

earlgreyismynectar · 28/01/2011 08:01

Exciting news Needto!! Hope this is it!! Maybe all of that dedicated bouncing has paid off!! Grin

DP just left for 7-10 days which means his return will be around my due date so I'll hold off bouncing till then!!

I've got a really bad head cold too PinkiePoo :( had a sore throat for over a week! Another good reason not to go into labour yet...

Would love a duvet day but first need to summon the energy to take DD to pre-school.

Have a great day everyone left in the waiting room & those in the early stages of labour, push! Grin

byronicheroine · 28/01/2011 08:05

Congratulations varicose and thanks for the story, I hope all of you are doing well.
And well done ledkr for updating us from the hospital - a real MN trouper! There should be some sort of award.
good luck needto and keep us updated, thinking of you. It does sound like all the classic 'symptoms' are there, so shouldn't be long now.
wiggles I've had the same thing this week, so I sympathise and hope that you're feeling much better. My midwife said that in some cases UTIs in late pregnancy can trigger labour so I just got some antibiotics (I wasn't so keen on taking them at first, but realised that feeling well during labour is probably quite important!!). Anyway, as soon as I decided to take the damn pills there was a three day pharmacy strike announced in Greece - cue my doctor trying to get some on the black market, telling my that maybe the in-laws had some stockpiled as apparently Greeks do that (!!) and then phoning round pharmacies to find one that was breaking the picket line! Then I had to trek across town begging the use of a toilet along the way (hotels = very accommodating) to find the one open pharmacy.
I feel much much better today!
the doctor said that you can't have nice weather AND an efficient social system but the irony is that it's howling wind and lashing rain today....
Hope everyone is keeping well.... looking forward to more news :)

Oneof4 · 28/01/2011 08:11

Byron LOL at "you can't have nice weather AND an efficient social system". :)

I'm so pleased I discovered Mumsnet during this pregnancy as it's been so great to share this experience (and realise that absolutely none of what's happening to me is as abnormal as I had thought!). And Angels - I think I'm a new snorer too...though it's actually payback for years of putting up with DH's nocturnal rumblings. :)

Is anyone else still working? I've got two weeks left (due in three) and having to take it pretty easy.

americanexpat · 28/01/2011 08:33

Oneof4 - I'm 39 weeks today and working until Monday. I have a desk job though so not strenuous at all.

ledkr - congrats. Does baby no-name have a name yet? Happy to hear your DH is finally putting you and the baby first.

I've still not finished packing my hospital bag. The list from Baby Centre suggests packing a snowsuit for the trip home but I remember reading elsewhere on Mumsnet that the bulk can make the carseat less safe (or something like that). It's a 5 minute drive home - do I really need a snowsuit or can I tuck a blanket around him?

EauRouge · 28/01/2011 09:17

americanexpat, don't think you will need a snowsuit for the car, blankets and a hat will do. We've got a car seat cover like this, think they are hard to find in the UK though.

needto, good luck and hope this is the start!

tadjenny, hope things speed up a bit!

Deliaskis · 28/01/2011 09:33

Needto, exciting, hope this is the start for you! It sounds like it, but then what do I know, I'm a complete novice!

angels I woke myself up snoring a few times this week, I too am feeling very glamorous!

Ledkr delighted to hear that DH has put his foot down with the MIL. At last!

All the best for Monday Debka .

I am feeling particularly proud of myself as I slept a whole night in bed last night [ginr]. I still got up four times, but went back to bed and slept in between, which is pretty good for me!

Had lots of BH and also period type pains yesterday evening as well. I guess this is just things heading in the right direction although I've got a bit to go yet! Started Raspberry Leaf stuff earlier this week so don't know if that has anything to do with it or if it's just a hippy myth, but I guess we'll never know!

After today, 5 days left at work, yippeeeee!

D

wigglesrock · 28/01/2011 09:35

Ledkr Really pleased for you re dh and in-laws, well done him and hopefully this is the start of the way forward Grin

Need to Hope things are moving along and baby is on their way.

After my bit of a kerfuffle at hospital on Wed, decided to finally finish off packing hospital bag last night, so all done. Am not going to complain any more but God that Floradix is minging, right all done, no more complaints, especially since last night was the best sleep I've probably had in about 2 months Grin

We are heading out to dinner tonight, the best bit being my mum and dad are having the girls for a "sleepover", Mr Wiggles and I are really trying hard to resist the tempatation of ordering a Chinese and putting Pjs on at 7pm!! But dinner is where I work and its a post Christmas freebie, so may go out early, eat quickly and still make it home for 9.30pm, oh how the mighty have fallen Grin

PDR · 28/01/2011 09:36

needto crossing my fingers you won't have long to go now!

ledkr thought of a name yet? better get in there quick before the in-laws decide for you Wink

debka no baby news here - reflexology as nice and did feel a few cramps last night but nothing of note. I am going back every week till I pop :)

debka · 28/01/2011 09:50

tadjenny I am jealous of your 3 1/2cm- I had a sweep on Weds and everything was firmly closed- and I'm meant to be giving birth on Monday!

No word from needtosleep this morning- lets hope she's holding her baby now!!

americanexpat · 28/01/2011 09:55

EauRouge - that looks cosy, I wonder if they make them in adult sizes. Grin

Surely Needto would check in if she's not in labour? She must know we're all waiting anxiously for an update. I can only conclude baby is making his/her appearance as I type this.

NeedToSleepZZZ · 28/01/2011 09:59

Hello everyone,

Still getting cramps but they're flippin further apart (just under 1 hour) now, good because it meant I got a couple of hours sleep but back on the ball and going to go for a walk to help things along. I have mw appt later so will find out if this is IT I suppose? I just know this is going to go on and on..... Sad

pinkie get to bed and sleep, horrible having a cold on top of everything else!

EauRouge · 28/01/2011 10:04

Oh, that's a pain, I hope things speed up. Have you got any clary sage?

Just got my TENs machine in the post, this afternoon I will go to Tesco to get all the bits on my shopping list and then I can go into labour any time. Sooner rather than later I hope!

snowangels1 · 28/01/2011 10:04

I feel so shameful - I wanted to check I don't look too much of a state so instead of getting up and looking in a mirror (which is up the stairs) I took a picture of myself on my phone to see Blush. I can't believe I am resorting to such measures! (oh, and I have washed etc this morning and used a mirror btw earlier - I just had that 'I feel like I look terrible' momments).

I caved and just sent needtosleep a text. I will assume that no word by lunch will most likely mean something is going on at needto towers :) [hope I'm not getting unduly excited emoticon]

snowangels1 · 28/01/2011 10:06

argh, x posted. Glad for the update needto. My mw was telling me someone in a similar situation to you had her mw apt and mw told her she was most likely in v early labour but was hours, possibly days away. Long story short, she gave birth the same afternoon, so don't give up hope yet.

knittakid · 28/01/2011 10:26

ledkr glad your DH has jolted out of his previous state. Your waking up with a fart made me laugh, at least you won't have that pain they say due to trapped wind...Grin
How's baby no name?

needto hope it all moves along today, how exciting!

oneof4 am still working too, a week and two days left and can't wait, have to do everything really slowly and clumsily... would do anything for a duvet day!

TMI alert, started to get piles... even just weeing makes them flare up, now am really scared of the pushing stage, but surely once am there I won't mind, I just want to get there! results of my wee sample should be known soon, I really hope it's nothing that stops me from trying for a homebirth.

PDR · 28/01/2011 10:56

needto thanks for the update! hope your walk gets things moving! So excited for you!

Well it's 10.52 and I have just finished my lunch Blush Am having compelling cravings for Mcdonalds chicken nuggets but I have to wait in for a Sainsbury's delivery so can't go and get any! Maybe not such a bad thing Grin

I am going to finish my labour bag today - I have packed 3 small-ish bags - 1 for baby, 1 for the delivery suite and then one for up on the ward. Anyone else done this? Last time I took one massive bag and it got all messed up and by the time I was on the ward I couldn't find/didn't need half of it!

Have to take DS to the hospital for his BGC jab this afternoon (DH is in high rish group) and really dreading it as the appt is right in the middle of his nap time. Although he walks at lot now I think I am going to go with the pushchair as if things go up the creek I can strap him in and run! DH is working this avo and DM is on a conference so noone to help. Gosh I can't cope with 1 small child how on earth am I going to cope with 2??! Hmm

Deliaskis · 28/01/2011 10:59

Oneof4 I'm still working, although taking a bit of hol so only working three days next week, and two the week after, then one whole week off before D-day, assuming baby doesn't arrive early. I don't mind working in a way, but it sometimes feels like the days I have off as holiday make going to work harder, as I lose my mojo for getting up and getting out the door! Also, I've done my handover already, in case of early arrival, so I'm not really that busy which makes the days go slowly, and makes me feel like I might as well be at home with my feet up!

D

Deliaskis · 28/01/2011 11:01

PDR I have a small hostess size case for me, a change size bag for baby, and also DH has a small bag for him, and also including things like music/books etc. for me. SO yes, 3 smallish bags here too.

D

NeedToSleepZZZ · 28/01/2011 11:01

Woo hoo, we have trickling waters.... Grin

wigglesrock · 28/01/2011 11:08

PDR I packed a ward bag and a delivery room bag, just to keep everything handy. Good luck with BCG, I remember getting mine at school, years ago, I only realised when dd1 started school that they don't give them out universally anymore. You'll be fine with two, bribery that's the way forward Wink

knittakid I'm the girl to talk to re piles Hmm Have got them in all pregnancies, same place, same time etc, this time couldn't get relief from over the counter medication (lot more feckin' sore uncomfortable this time) Got prescription last week, the relief/ difference is brillant.

Ps I know there are a few of us waiting/ relying on Maternity Allowance, my work pay has now stopped and gave social security dept a quick ring today, my MA payments have been authorised and are due to begin next week Grin Not quite counting my millions yet but its better than nothing!!

wigglesrock · 28/01/2011 11:09

NeedtoSleep Good luck, here's hoping xx

PDR · 28/01/2011 11:19

Wiggles you just reminded me to call and chase my Maternity Allowance so thank you :) They say I have been awarded the maximum amount and payment was issued today so should be winging its way into my account as we speak!

Is anyone thinking about not going back to work? Obviously I don't know how I will feel a year from now bored? but it's unlikely that I will go back...
