Hi ladies-thought I would be adventurous & set up the new thread for the final leg of our journey Grin

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Bensmum76 · 26/01/2011 13:11

Hi all
Just wanted to say Ledkr - lots of luck for tomorrow and big hugs. Can't wait to come on here and read your news!

snowangels1 · 26/01/2011 13:12

Haven't had time to read this mornings updates yet, sorry, but just got back from growth scan and am completely Shock Shock Shock Shock Shock Shock Shock Shock Shock Shock Shock Shock Shock Shock (can you see how Shock I am?!). Baby is measuring massive. Top of 95th percentil foR everything but completely off the chart for tummy circumferance and estimated weight today was 8lbs13 (gulp). The sonographer ent me straight to see a mw it was so huge and they are urgently booking me into consultants to discuss early induction as she's so big (maybe I should call her big bertha2 ledkr?!). Anyone reassure me or have I just got a massive baby in there?!

snowangels1 · 26/01/2011 13:15

oh, and when I say off the chart in hugeness I don't mean just a little bit either - it is way way way off Confused

smallblackflowers · 26/01/2011 13:22

Goodness angels, at least it has been discovered now and not on your due date when she's likely to be a lot bigger...also, have seen a lot of people say that weight estimations from scans can be really wrong too. When are you seeing the consultant?

I was induced with DD, and it wasn't bad at all, only had G&A and no interventions, with a 4.5 hr active labour, and DD was perfectly fine.

[hugs]

Deliaskis · 26/01/2011 13:23

Oooh angels I can see why you might be Shock (x many times!), you're about 36+ weeks like me aren't you? I know there is nothing I can say to help at this point, but there are a couple of things to consider:

  • At least it's been spotted in time to do something about it
  • My baby had a massive growth spurt a few weeks ago but has 'evened out' to about right now, so maybe yours isn't going to grow that much more?
  • Head is still the toughest bit to birth yes, so big tummy might not be that big a deal in reality (I have no idea if this is true or not!)

Hmmm...I can see that my 'helpful' points above are probably not that helpful, so I'm going to stop now, but the first one stands - they're on the case now so either way you will get the best advice on how to proceed. You might even get to meet your baby early and be not-pregnant sooner than you thought [cheer]!

smallblackflowers if I struggle with BF, I hope for a similar angel!

D

EauRouge · 26/01/2011 13:35

ledkr, best of luck for tomorrow, hope all goes smoothly!

angels, what a shock! They could be wrong though. Delia is right, the head size between a 6lb baby and an 8lb baby isn't much and that's the trickiest bit to push out.

Good luck to all those getting twinges, let's hope it's the start of something.

snowangels1 · 26/01/2011 13:36

Thanks sbf and d. I know weight estimate can be off but can't see how the actual measurements can be that off - and, believe me, they are reading big (even mw who looked at them looked a little Shock ). They are going to ring me with consultant apointment and it's only just dawning on me I'll prob have this baby quite soon now - you're right d I'm only 36 weeks - I haven't even sorted out my hospital bag, or the nursery, or brought my ipod speakers for the delivery room (can't wear headphones - ear problems), or read my how to look after a baby books, etc etc. All I can say is it's no wonder I've been in so much discomfort with such a massive one in there Wink . Am going for a sit down and try and recover from the shock!

Deliaskis · 26/01/2011 13:49

angels order speakers online for next day delivery, one job done, tick!

People had babies before books so whether you get a chance to read up or not, you will be fine!

D

snowangels1 · 26/01/2011 13:53

does anyone have any travel/portable ipod speakers that they would recommend to me then? I'm totally confused about what to get. Just want a pair with decent volume (apparently the birthing rooms are BIG and don't want sound to get lost) and not very expensive.

debka · 26/01/2011 13:55

angels we are in the same boat. My LO was measuring the same- off the chart on abdomen at 36wk scan, although weight was only 7.11. Apparently a large ab. measurement is a sign of gestational diabetes. I got sent for another GTT which I found out today that I failed. But because they diagnosed it so late and LO is so big (9lb at 38wk scan yesterday), they are inducing me on MONDAY at 39+1. I imagine they'll want to induce you early too.

Try not to fret, you are in good hands and induction isn't all bad. At least you know when it'll be arriving, plus you get to hold your baby sooner and you'll be comfortable (ish) again. Good luck!!

ledkr if I manage to resist coming on again before tomorrow- GOOD LUCK- I'll be thinking of you :)

smallblackflowers · 26/01/2011 14:15

angels I got a perfectly respectable set of Ipod speakers from Tesco for about a tenner. They are made by Technika.

debka my due date buddy....good luck for Monday! Half of me is jealous that you'll be meeting your LO so soon, the other half still has loads to do! How exciting for you!

ledkr · 26/01/2011 14:43

angels stop worrying my friend had 5 and smallest was 10.5 lb all vaginal. They did say ella was big but she was 6.11.They will do whats best for you love.
debka i was origionally booked for monday how exciting,we can compare pain and exhaustion next week haha.I am hoping to be back on sat so will be back on before you go to boss you all around-im the mummy of the group haha.I feel so on edge, cant relax at all, going to have a glass of wine with dinner later to chill. The scariest thing is nil by mouth from midnight-are they mad?Id already had toast and biccys by 6am this am,and the thought of no tea fills me with horror.especially as ill probably be up with the lark,we will get more flipping sleep with a newborn me thinks.

NeedToSleepZZZ · 26/01/2011 15:00

Oooh, so much happening today!

angels I know you must be worrying but try to stay calm and remember that scans can be out by quite a bit, plus you might get to meet your dd sooner than you thought! Don't worry about reading up about looking after babies as you'll be fine and get lots of support both in RL and on here I'm sure! Sending you a big hug! Smile

ledkr enjoy your last day of being uncomfortable and breathless Wink and wishing you lots of luck for tomorrow, where has the time gone? Can't wait to see pics!!!

debka another WOW! Best of luck for Monday, hope you have a lovely weekend, do whatever takes your fancy and enjoy it!

I've had twinges all morning but am resigned to the fact that my body needs to warm up a lot for labour so is putting me though it with false alarms. All I do now is bounce on the ball and crawl on all fours in a vain attempt to get things moving....

snowangels1 · 26/01/2011 15:00

ledkr I shall be thinking of you tomorrow and all best wishes for everything going as smoothly as possible - can't wait to hear all about it

debka not long to go now Grin . Hope all is perfect for you too.

I think it seems they will defo induce me from what I can think - if they think baby is nearly 9 lbs at 36 weeks I can't see them letting me get to 40 weeks. Will just be glad know to see this consultant whenever they ring me with an appointment so I know what's going on and how long it will be (bets are currently in 10 - 14 days time).

Thanks sbf for the ipod recommendation - am off to have a peek.

snowangels1 · 26/01/2011 15:03

debka btw do you mind me asking out of interest what your LOs tummy measurement was (to see how likely they are going to only give me a few days notice for induction like you've had). At 36 weeks my LO was measuring today 371mm.

janedoe25 · 26/01/2011 16:04

Wow , loads going on today!
Ledkr good luck for 2mrw i shall be thinking about you. This time 2mrw you will be snuggled up with your baby girl!

Debka Good luck for Monday!

Angels please dont worry, at least they are monitoring things now and u may get to have ur little baby sooner rather than later!

Im sooooo excited for all you ladies and cant wait to hear of the births. Hope all goes well for you all.

lostfromoz · 26/01/2011 16:39

Best of luck for tomorrow ledkr....big sympathies for the food restrictions, I'm also hungry all the time at the moment.
And angels you'll be absolutely fine. Reading the baby books doesn't make a great deal of sense without a baby to practice it on, in my opinion, anyway. It just clutters your head! Can't wait to hear about the lovely girl's arrival.

tadjennyp · 26/01/2011 17:03

Best of luck for tomorrow ledkr! And for Monday debka! Try not to worry angels - they will do what's best for you and baby. Who is it still spinning? Wow, hats off. Hope you are feeling a bit calmer cookingfat. I barely slept last night as it felt like the baby was trying to headbutt its way out of my vagina! Can't wait to meet him now!

Deliaskis · 26/01/2011 18:22

Back from presentation scan and baby is fine, head down, headed in the right direction, which is great news. Got home to many frantic messages from Mum & MIL, as they were both fretting on my behalf, whereas I wasn't at all, as I was so convinced it was all fine anyway!

Ledkr all the very best for tomorrow, will be thinking of you.

Debka all the best for Monday, another exciting arrival on the way!

angels keep us updated re consultant and induction day, sounds like you might be leapfrogging your way up the list!

Take care ladies
Dx

wigglesrock · 26/01/2011 18:46

Ledkr Hope you come back after Immacing Grin to check all your good luck messages, try and get some rest tonight, although I know that's impossible. Good luck hun (I'm throwing Mumsnet convention to the wind and sending you lots of hugs and kisses)

Debka How exciting, only the weekend to go!

Have spent all afternoon being monitored etc at hospital, have to ring in to double check blood results etc. Will fill you in later on when I know more.

MizK · 26/01/2011 19:16

Wow so much news since yesterday!

Debka how exciting that you have a date, bet you have major butterflies, hope time doesn't drag too much for you til then!

angels good luck with it all hope you find out what's happening re possible induction. Plus I have always been told that big babies are better sleepers so hopefully that will be true and make up for the worry you feel now!

ledkr best of luck for tomorrow am v excited for you and can't believe the babies are all starting to arrive, its lovely.

wiggles hope you are OK and that results are good. Make sure you put your feet up and take it easy.

Hope everyone else is good apart from the inevitable niggles. I am married to my hot water bottle at the min as have horrid pulling pain down my back which gets really annoying at night time but other than that can't complain too much!

40Weeks · 26/01/2011 20:01

Oh girls busy busy busy!

Good luck ledkr very excited for you and also a little bit jealous that you get to meet her tomorrow

angels am only repeating what everyone else says - that bubba has to come out at some point and as someone else said, the baby's weight won't affect head size too much. And that's the hardest part, the rest is just yummy chubbiness and you will be so proud of yourself once it's over, just try to focus on that bit

debka very excited for you, how are you feeling about it?

Fingers crossed for you wiggles re blood results. Was everything else ok?

I actually slept well last night for first time in ages, NO wee breaks, made my day when I woke up.

Dh text to say he was going out after work. I know iabu but it's with a mate he will see all weekend at the stag do this weekend, and am feeling resentful at the spontenaiety (sp?) of being able to just decide he is going out on a whim. I can't remember the last time I did that, or that he was spontaneous with me. I know he had a shite day at work and needs to relax but I just can't help feeling resentful and sulky. Boo Sad

40Weeks · 26/01/2011 20:03

Oh, so have made angel delight for my dinner

smallblackflowers · 26/01/2011 20:07

40Weeks Sad Men can be so thoughtless sometimes - he probably doesn't realise about how you are feeling about it all. Sad. Angel delight - yum - what flavour have you gone for? I may have a dig in the back of my cupboard to see if I have any in stock now.

smallblackflowers · 26/01/2011 20:07
