Hi ladies-thought I would be adventurous & set up the new thread for the final leg of our journey Grin

OP posts:

40Weeks: I do live near Bluewater, though on the wrong side of the river so can take 30 mins or 90 mins to get there! Definitely the shopping centre of choice... :)

NeedToSleepZZZ · 25/01/2011 21:32

debka That's completely unacceptable!!!! Do you think there's a gaviscon withdrawal programme or gaviscon addicts anonymous group for new mums? Although in my case it would be one for extra strong mints addicts Wink, I can't get enough of them.

So fed up tonight, got all excited earlier as i started ,mentally listing all the things i'll be able to do when not pg.... walking and sleeping being high on the list!

ledkr · 25/01/2011 21:59

Gaviscon is crap anyway so dh was right to smash it Grin.need toill second that, add breathing and drinking to my list.In fact i have a bottle of champagne chilling as we speak and will be enjoying a glass on Sat when im home.BTW i have my i phone going so hoping to give you a blow by blow account when im in hospital, may even be able to do a picture of big bertha for you.Have packed a denim dress and leggings to wear home hope it fits, its quite big.

tadjennyp · 25/01/2011 22:23

So exciting, ledkr - really not long now! Going out for dinner with two other pregnant ladies tonight and might suggest a trip to the pictures with someone before the end of the week. Got to get it all done now! Had acupuncture this morning and feel so much more relaxed!

WanderingSheep · 25/01/2011 22:27

Ooh, I can't wait to go for a really long walk! Or just jump up from sitting down, with one attempt, rather than shuffling and it taking about four attempts to get to my feet like a 90 year old.

Gaviscon is my best friend! [glug glug glug]

WanderingSheep · 25/01/2011 22:30

tadjennyp enjoy your evening out! (feels weird thinking of you going out to dinner when it's half ten here and I'm tucked up in my bobos bed).

tadjennyp · 25/01/2011 22:37

Haha sheep - know what you mean about the manoeuvre required to get up! I feel like the Titanic trying and failing to avoid the iceberg! [bgrin] Tis only half two here at the moment. Had tried to persuade the dcs to play outside but they are watching the fairy rescue now instead. Oh well, more time to MN relax! Hope you all get a good night's sleep!

ZeroMinusZero · 26/01/2011 06:38

Thanks for advice on money everyone, we definitely qualify for tax credits which will help. Will ask work about nursery vouchers and will investigate cheaper childcare options. Just want baby to hurry up and come now so I can stop being pregnant. Fingers crossed we all pop two weeks early!

debka · 26/01/2011 07:38

So, sent DH out to get more Gaviscon and guess what? First night for about 3 weeks that I haven't needed it!! Shall I tell him??

ledkr looking forward to your blow by blow account and photos too! Whoop!

snowangels1 · 26/01/2011 08:48

Top of my list for what to do when not pg is to be able to lie flat on my back or tummy in bed (just to feel like I have the option if I wanted would be enough to cheer me up!) and that putting shoes and socks on won't be quite so much hard work, and I second the being able to walk/get up from the sofa. I also can't wait to actually sit down and really enjoy a nice meal without the whole heartburn etc.

Yes 40 I'm quite near bluewater. Infact, I really need to go there to get some nursing bras but can't build up the energy to be able to walk from the car park to th bra store Blush [hurts when walks emoticon].

Scan today to see how big this whopper is :)

debka I would similarly be annoyed with DH re: gavsicon. I'm on the gaviscon advance now and find it works alot better. Hope it sees me through to the end Hmm

40Weeks · 26/01/2011 09:42

Oh just a quickie girls, granny my mw just called and there are open eves every Thursday at 7 at the PRUH for the birthing unit.

Gaviscon double strength is my friend!! Off to spin class now, I wonder how many more I will manage

roundthehouses · 26/01/2011 09:54

omg 40 wks are you STILL doing spin classes? i cannot even fathom how you can do that!! respect Wink

Ledkr am thinking about you, does it seem real yet?!

Congrats to Julez! Baby news is so motivating right now, don´t you all think?!

sorry to hear about childcare worries, it is so stressful. we waited until ds1 was in full time school (they start at 3 here - 9am-2pm mon-fri) because there was no way we could have afforded two in childcare although it is much cheaper here than the UK. My sis is in london and what they pay has me Shock Shock Shock. We were so lucky with ds1 that my parents lived nearby and looked after him til he was a year but they´ve moved away now Sad we are now thinking dh might give up work as I have to go back in august when bubba is prob only 5 months old and I can´t bear him going into nursery so small (ratios for baby class here is 1:8!!!!).

Am unofficially starting maternity leave - aka skiving - so far had a lovely long bath and a wee morning nap but am going to try and do something useful today i.e. pack labour bag and wash baby clothes.

better get to it...

Grannyapple · 26/01/2011 10:02

Ooh thx 40 will rope hubby & perhaps a few nct girls into attending-meeting them for coffee tomorrow.

Wish I had some gaviscon last night, had the worst heartburn ever-guess that's what I get for having sine haggis last night for burns' night!

OP posts:
JustOneMorePlease · 26/01/2011 10:29

Just a quickie as am busy for the few days with things on at school and hospital appts for ds1.

Wanted to wish ledkr all the best for tomorrow and anyone else who is due imminently. I still have three and a half weeks. Which feels like forever!

angels I too want to lie on my tum! Problem is for a while it feels so odd and squashy and then when your milk comes in it isn't very comfy laid on the old boobs! Sorry to disappoint. But turning over in bed is sooooo much easier!

knittakid · 26/01/2011 11:06

am with you angels lying on my back will be heaven, I also miss cycling, can't wait to do it again. A bit later on it would be nice to have sex again... although DH agreed that if needed because am overdue he'd do it, how good is he...

Had the home mw appointment today. Really nice as she's completely on the same wavelength as us. Everything was great except a bit of protein in urine, but have no other symptoms of either infection or pre-eclampsia so have to send off a sample to GP.

Have a nice day ladies!

EauRouge · 26/01/2011 11:07

my supplies are running low!

I'm looking forward to being able to turn over in bed and put my shoes and socks on without having to contort into weird positions, and also being able to play my bass again, it's really hard with a bump in the way!

I need to get some new nursing bras, the ones I had with DD have had it. DD is currently flicking through the Bravissimo catalogue saying 'look, lots of boobies!' Grin and she said one of the models was me which has cheered me up no end.

WanderingSheep · 26/01/2011 11:09

Morning all!

I had a good full 6 hours sleep last night, without waking, the only problem was that I had been in one position all night so this morning my hips, leg and tummy were really aching!

DD took ages to get to sleep as she had earache. She said it was better this morning but have taken her to the doctor who said she's got an infection! I've finally got a prescription for Gaviscon Advanced, yippee!

justonemore hope your DS goes on ok at his hospital appointments!

Zero I agree that childcare is a nightmare! I registered as a childminder after I had DD so that I didn't have to go to work (childcare would be more than any wage I could earn) but it's such a faff re Ofsted regulations and TBH we've run out of space (you need to be able to have continuous provision for the children eg. Paints and glue etc accessible to them all the time) that I don't think I'll be going back to it. I don't know what kind of job I could get though - probably evenings in a supermarket!

cookingfat · 26/01/2011 11:13

Can I rant please?

So, on Sunday I had what felt like period pain every ten mins, then every 5 mins. Not painful, but uncomfortable. Phoned hospital for advice - they said try paracetomol and a bath as this would either stop things or speed things up. It worked and everything stopped.
Nothing Monday.
Tuesday - every 10 mins, then every 5, got the same, but much more painful (not agony - just like bad period pain). I knew it wasn't really labour, but phoned hospital again, and they said to go in to check what was happening (given what had happened sunday).
Anyway, conclusion is nothing happening apart from cervix starting to shorten (they think). But this can happen repeatedly before my body just decides to go for it. So am cross with self for wasting their time and DH's time with nothing (he is great, I just feel bad). Also cross with body for thinking it needs some trial runs rather than just going into labour!! bring it on, or pack in the period pains at regular intervals!! (No pains today btw, but bad enough in the night to wake me up).
Due next Fri, and the good news is it's unlikely to happen many times, and she did get my hopes up by saying 'this baby won't want to stay in there until 4 feb'.

Will read other messages now, but thanks for letting me get it out of my system. Feel better for it!

WanderingSheep · 26/01/2011 11:27

Oh cookingfat it's frustrating isn't it? Hopefully it means that things are going to get going soon though!

wigglesrock · 26/01/2011 11:59

cookingfat I feel your pain - I have had stop and start pains for past couple of days, but deffo not labour pains, so annoying.

knittakid I'd like a return to sex too, even if its just to kill the time because the TV is so shite Grin.

I had a midwife appt on Fri and there was trace of protein in my urine, ringing up today to chase up lab results. I was actually going to post last night for bit of advice - I have felt terrible for past few days, throwing up violently from weekend, haven't really held any meals down, I am so used to this that I wasn't going to ring midwife, but actually feel quite ill, had good nights sleep last night and felt a little better this morning but am starting to feel ill again, think I might ring?

Deliaskis · 26/01/2011 12:04

Hello ladies,

Had MW last night and she is now unsure whether baby is head down or not, so going for presentation scan this afternoon at 3pm. Keep your fingers crossed for me. I am pretty confident it is head down, as all the other MWs have been in no doubt, and the bit that I am sure is baby's bum sticking out above my belly button, really seems to be a bottom and not a head. I am sure it is because it's not very moveable or wobbly and I am sure a head would be more so?

But anyway, going for scan to make sure, whatever the outcome (and I'm not going to be traumatised either way), I would prefer no surprises so scan is the way to go!

Ledkr your post re baby moving to the music made me a little emotional Smile. It's really amazing isn't it? Mine moves a lot when I sing, or when other people at my choir are singing. It seems to move more when it is 'real live' voices, rather than on the TV/stereo though.

Anyway, stay happy and healthy ladies.

D

Grannyapple · 26/01/2011 12:30

Delia good luck for scan-I had same thing. 2 different mw's unsure as to position. Then sil was visiting at w/e (also a mw)- said baby was head down, doc on
Monday said head down also-scan said head down too! Just shows the difference between them all! Then got annoyed as had just got my head around having a section & then everything was fine. Which reminds me...best write up that birth plan!!

ledkr good luck for tomorrow!

ledkr · 26/01/2011 12:42

hi all, just marking time today,i am looking forward to breathing again in 24hrs and reclining in bed and yes maybe even a little sleep.i am very moody/nervous and dd has been a bit annoying which upsets me cos wiil be in hosp for few days and dont want to leave on bad note.dh and i are watching the wire at mo and have had a big fry up.getting some convenience food later whilst dd at ballet and then for dinner.she is at mums tonight until we give the nod tomorrow then will meet her baby sis.im looking forward to snuggling up in bed with baby on my own,god i think ive earned it.thanks for all your wishes, ill post tomorrow when waiting.
i am also looking forward to sex again but know babies restrict that and yes cycling but cant do that much with a new born.
have a good day girls, may pop in later when dh has cut my toe nails an assisted with immac duties Grin

PinkiePoo · 26/01/2011 12:59

Hello girlies Grin

cookingfat how annoying but must be some comfort to know it really isn't long for you. If I were you, I would really try and take FULL advantage of this time otherwise you will kick yourself. Fingers crossed you really don't have to wait to long though!!

ledkr I am so so excited for you. I will checking this constantly now for your news. Please do not worry too much, you will be in fab hands and have a beautiful baby as a result!! Forget whats not important ie. PILS and focus on what will be placed in your arms in 24 hours....thats what important!!

I am so so pleased that today i have a FULL day off....whoopee. I have one eve to teach left then from then on all i will be teaching is sat afternoon and sunday morning until due date. I am so bloody happy!! So i have whacked on Rhianna and am doing washing, hoovering, dusting, nursery sorting....apart from my 5 min breaks, wich i tend to have every 5 minutes.

I have my relaxation and breathing class tonight....quite looking forward to it. Did anyone go to it?

smallblackflowers · 26/01/2011 13:08

Hi all,

ledkr can't believe tomorrow is the big day for you - where has the last 9 months gone! Will be thinking of you and looking forward to seeing the pics. Smile

delia good luck for a head down baby at your scan today.

cookingfat understand your frustration, but at least you know something is happening....I'm due 2 days after you and am not really feeling any different to how I have for the last few weeks, although saying that I may have just had a slightly period painy type sensation.

I've just had a really rewarding morning. Went to the local breastfeeding group where I attended with DD1, and then worked as a peer supporter whilst off on mat leave, and ended up helping a lady who had a tiny DS, due on 29th Jan but born 3 weeks ago, who was struggling with her feeding. At the end of the session she told me that it had 'been like an angel had come down and sat next to her', and that she was feeling so much better about everything. Was so nice to be able to help someone again....someone remind me why I work in the banking sector please Hmm
