Arrrgghhh - lost some of my post.

Not much happening here - lazy day yesterday - didn't leave the house, slept in the middle of the day as exhausted. Much fewer cramps and BH yesterday, but they are back with a vengeance this morning. The periody cramps are now spreading round to my back. Seeing the MW later so will see what she thinks. I am quite uncomfortable though - not sure I can take weeks and weeks of this [hmmm].

House is a pit - must try and do something about it today.

coraltoes · 17/02/2011 08:39

yay Muser! well done. Sounds like a positive labour! Nothing new here, still same dull period pains. Come on baby- we want to meet you!!! Grin

TooImmature2BMum · 17/02/2011 11:38

Muser, your story sounds great - not too scary! I hope I can be as brave as you. Hope the breastfeeding continues to go well and you have plenty of support.

Not much to report here - starting to get definite BH, but they always seem to be in the middle of the night and wake me up, grr! I also have a bit of backache for the first time in months, but I think that's because I heard a distinct pop in my lower back when rolling over in bed this morning - goodness knows what it was, but it frightened the life out of me for about 30 seconds before I realised that nothing else had happened Blush.

I am determined not to go into labour today because it is Dad's birthday [irrational emoticon]. I shall pack my hospital bag, finally, and I must pick yesterday's roast chicken and make stock with the bones. Domestic goddess, me? Grin

Clucky31 · 17/02/2011 12:12

Wow - not been on here for ages, but big congratulations to Muser and Jeffily on the birth of your baby girls Smile Smile

KPidgeon · 17/02/2011 12:19

Muser that was a reassuring post, thank you.

Do you have a name for your little girl yet?

Can't wait to be in your position- back at home and breastfeeding my little man (all being well!)

Just had a terrible start to the day- cc'd in a work colleague into an email when I didn't mean too- and called him aloof. Tried to recall but didn't manage it. Had to apologise and blame it on my hormones. I am mortified. Thank GOD I finish work tomorrow. I'm wreaking havoc in my last 2 days!

Catherine hope your BH ease off. I haven't hhad any yet. Sounds like I don't want them. IAs I'm fairly enormous now I keep waking up and I'm on my back. Not good but as I'm doing it whilst asleep I can't really avoid it.

Oh- and the vanilla icecream was heaven for my heartburn- good tip!

1Catherine1 · 17/02/2011 14:40

BH aren't that bad to be honest KPidgeon, chances are you have had them and just not noticed. I know I didn't notice till someone explained what they felt like and I realized I had had them. This morning was the exception where they were really causing me a problem. I got a bit worried and googled them and scared myself more so phoned my mum who told me baby was probably just turning and since it had stopped I shouldn't worry. Seeing the midwife tomorrow anyway.

I wouldn't be concerned about waking on your back - if you or the baby needed oxygen then your body would make you move in your sleep or wake you up. I know my body wakes me.

I bet nobody believes that you sent that CCed accidently - trouble causing on your last 2 days because you can get away with it Grin

Half term starts in 30 minutes - can't wait. Missing INSET Day tomorrow for antenatal class and MW appointment, nice way to end the term. Was planning on doing the last of my baby shopping over half term but OH decided that he wanted to buy a new camera for baby's arrival so we can have lots of special beautiful pictures of the LO and us to remember the special time of our life. Which ofc can only be achieved on a camera costing £200. Hmm I sometimes wonder if he should go into sales. I'll have to finish the shopping the week after instead. :)

Hello all,

Really wonderful news from Jeffily and Muser - thanks so much for positive birth story. Need it.

Had scan on tuesday - all is fine - little fibriod moved out of baby's head's way now so all is fine - but... my blood pressure was a bit high & today had it checked again and it was still a bit high although it started coming down when the nurse told me to breathe deeply so it could be from worrying about it!

37 weeks on saturday so... getting there.

For those of you who ordered stuff from mothercare - they had to come yesterday and they didn't they called me at 5 to say that: after spending the day waiting! Then they came this morning -but the young man was nice enough and he even carried the furniture packs upstairs for me. all's well that ends well as they say.

Hoping for more baby announcements :)

rain1014 · 17/02/2011 17:12

Ok so today Ive done EVERYTHING [BLUSH]] to try and get myself into labour so far NOTHING!

Ive put on my brand new (very expensive) bedding in the hope that my waters will break tonight!

All Ive got for all my efforts today is one sore back, and I have a feeling thats all Im going to get!

sam26oscar · 17/02/2011 17:57

Big congratulations Jeffily and Muser on safe arrival of you daughters Grin

Sorry but nothing to report here!! I am scheduled next thurs for c-section. Saw m/w today and she thinks baby packing its bags and getting ready to leave... I am rather hoping she meant that i am getting close to my due date not that she thinks its going to come before next thurs!! What could she tell just from feeling around??!!

Although i do have really horrible stabbing pains in cervical area as it were, but i'm sure its just baby moving around not actually trying to nudge itself out!!

Looking forward to hearing more birth stories over next few weeks Grin

Purplefan · 17/02/2011 19:33

Hi again all,

I had clinic apt today and am now booked in for c-section on the 15th March - this is only 3 days b4 due date so I think that they are hoping that things will start naturally Hmm The Consultant was really nice but I'm sure he was trying to get me to agree to a VBAC... he kept talking about the risks etc.. I know that he was only doing his job.. but already been through this with several different consultants!! Would be so much easier if I had seen the same person each time at Clinic!! Confused

Hope the new arrivals are both doing well. Fingers crossed for more good news stories. Take care all x

Jupiter118 · 17/02/2011 19:39

saw MW today - apparently in NICE clinical guidelines it says you can ask for a sweep at 38 weeks if you want one. Might check it out for interest.

MW thought I might be in very slow labour, but said that it might happen quite quickly or it could take weeks - no way of knowing. Will just carry on waiting then.

kpidgeon email nightmare - I can feel the cold sweat = oooohh. At least you are finishing work.

Hattie05 · 17/02/2011 21:20

I didn't know that Jupiter? Interesting - does anyone know if there is any benefit doing it that early? - i'll go google too! And mad is the way i'd describe myself having 4 not brave! Grin

Muser congrats and glad all went smoothly.

am988 good news for you

Not much to report here except, still trying to organising rooms - think tomorrow will start washing moses basket and baby clothes! Less BH's than i was getting a last week. going to be 38 weeks on Saturday! nearly there................

EvianBaby · 17/02/2011 21:21

Muser what a lovely post, you sound very happy! Congratulations again! Looking forward to hearing further details from you and Jeffily

kpidgeon - you poor thing, what a nightmare! It just sounds like something I would do!It will all be forgotten by the time you return after your Maternity leave at least!

KPidgeon · 18/02/2011 09:39

Thanks everyone. The guy was really gracious in his response to me- and not aloof at all- which made me feel even worse! Arghh- that will learn me!

But yes, at least it's right at the end of my time before mat leave. I hope it will be all forgotten in a year's time!

My last day today- yipppeee! going out for dinner tonight with husband to celebrate, and as a belated Valentine's celebration- that's if I can summon up the energy by tonight!

Wishing you all well and nice, relaxing weekends- I wonder if we'll have any other exciting news over the weekend!

K x

ckny1 · 18/02/2011 11:01

Congratulations on your last day of work, KPidgeon! It sounds like your colleague wasn't bothered by the email, and will have definitely forgotten about it when he sees your LO! :)

Muser, very nice of you to share your experience, thanks, and send our best wishes to your cutie!

Catherine, lots going on with your bump, which in some ways may be nice and reassuring that your body is preparing (this morning I woke wondering why I wasn't feeling ANYTHING yet, knocking on my bump to wake my little bugger up)...hope you are more comfie now.

We are 37 weeks today! Can't wait to meet our little gentleman, though will miss him being so close!

am988 · 18/02/2011 13:59

I'm 37wks tomorrow! Can't believe it. It is good yet... little bit anxious.

Hubby put flat pack furniture together - so I feel that baby can come now - it could be ages waiting, or not? I wish it is sooner rather than later.

Beware now Shock: a not so nice question coming up especially if you're eating:

Could I ask ladies with experience - i.e. not first time mums to be like me a very gory.. a bit disgusting question please: how does the muchus plug look like and how much of it?

I noticed something.. not a lot it is whiteish though and v thick - not much - but still not nice. Sorry once again for this Blush question.

1Catherine1 · 18/02/2011 14:17

Had a busy baby day today. Breastfeeding class this morning with my NCT class which was a nice relaxing 2 hours. I really do feel like I'll be able to do it and think the session was really useful - nice to know there is so much support around for woman who want to breastfeed.

Then I had my MW appointment who had a student MW with her. The student was really nice but as I had come prepared with questions and worries I was a little uncomfortable at first. I had worried myself that I might be heading towards pre-eclampsia (DAM GOOGLE) with my severe headaches and my vision problems yesterday (could be related to pre-pregnancy thing) but she assured me that there were no other signs of it so it was probably just a migraine. My bump is measuring fine still so the small bump worry has gone :) She also thought that my mum might be right when she suggested that the pain I had yesterday morning was possibly just the baby turning. LO is now head down and not at all engaged so I'm enjoying the constant breathlessness and fitting into my pre-pregnancy jeans.

Plans for the rest of the day include sorting out the pile of stuff I have in the cot and re-packing my hospital bag and taking it out to the car - 36 weeks this Sunday.

Kpidgeon - enjoy your last day at work! I also have a belated valentines day meal - was lovely to go on a less busy day, I think I enjoyed it more than I would have otherwise. I'm sure you'll have a lovely time - remember, probably the last time you'll get to in a while.

Goldenbear · 18/02/2011 22:05

Congratulations Jeffily andMuser, lovely to hear the news of two arrivals!

Jupiter 'slow labour' sounds like a bit of a trial, no wonder you're exhausted. I read your updates recently and half expected to read of the arrival of your DD. Yes we have same due date and I have 3.8 year old DS, do you have similar aged son?

am988 I have a DS but don't have any experience of the mucus plug as I was induced and don't recall anything about it. However,o according to friends' experiences it is meant to be red streaked, jelly like, sorry if tmi.

I am in full nesting mode but don't think I will ever feel ready- as in everything being in place for the babies arrival, therefore I sort of wish she would arrive soonish!

We are meant to be moving out of our current flat on the 2nd April so currently looking for somewhere to buy as we should be exchanging on our own place next week. Needless to say I am finding the house search with my 3 year old very exhausting although obviously exciting.

Hattie05 · 18/02/2011 23:10

Gosh its got quiet on here! is everyone quietly labouring? Wink

Am988 as goldenbear says the mucus plug is normally blood streaked. I have been losing tons of discharge (white) for the last couple of weeks and remember checking this was normal with my mw previously. It seems to get heavier if i do more walking or strenous activity - gross but sadly don't think its a sign of baby coming.

Seriously thought i was going into labour tonight, but all stopped now, so think i just overdid it with trip to park on the way to collect dd1 from school. Got home and felt so uncomfortable with stretching pains and stabbing in the cervix, baby fidgeting non-stop. All quiet now so will go get to bed!

Take care all,

Honeymoonmummy · 18/02/2011 23:32

Hi all, congratulations Muser and Jeffily! Nothing much to report here, my BP has gone up a bit but no signs of protein. I am enjoying my time off but haven't stopped yet trying to get the house sorted before the birth and looking after my 2yo. 36 + 2 eek!

StrangewaysHereICome · 19/02/2011 08:46

I wish Hattie I really do!!! No labouring here just yet. I have had two bad night of being woken in the early hours by period type cramps, BH's and baby headbutting my nether regions! Enough to stop me sleeping but not enough to get baby moving Hmm.

The mw is coming today so it will be interesting to see what she says. I feel it has to be close now as I am very uncomfortable, but still a week til due date! - and it's half term next week, so no chance for daytime naps - oh help Confused.

Larty74 · 19/02/2011 10:06

Hi ladies -

I wish as well Hattie! have been having same as you re: discharge - whoopee hey? Smile I don't think much else is happening except the odd stretch/pain, tightening. I'm 38wks on Monday and seeing GP so curious to see if he's engaged or not. I'm hoping as his kicks are not in my ribs anymore but a bit lower.

Congrats to those finishing work and Purple on your CS date!

Enjoy your weekends everyone. Mine is filled with preparations for both baby and parents arrival Confused

pettyprudence · 19/02/2011 10:39

i still have 3 weeks til maternity leave starts so i am very jealous of all you ladies on leave already! I have just reduced my hours though because after poor/lack of sleep at night work's becoming a struggle.

I'm ready for baby now (emotionally, physically and materially) but would like them to stay tucked up for a bit longer as i am only 34+3. Sometimes it sucks at the back of the class! Midwife isnt even sure what position baby is in so no hope of me identifying a foot or hand if midwife cant even make out a head lol. I'm hoping the movement under my ribs are feet though! I have a sneaky suspicion though that baby is chilling out sideways Hmm

I can't believe we have out first babies already! Congratulations to Muser and Jeffily.

Good luck to those due over the next week - Feb half term is an excellent time to have a baby! I am biased of course as its my birthday next week but i love that i have never been to school or work on my birthday Grin

DH has booked me a pregnancy massage for my birthday - has anyone else had one? not sure what to expect.....

Right, mammoth post over Blush

TooImmature2BMum · 19/02/2011 12:12

No baby here yet either. I keep pointing out to myself that she's not due for 13 more days, but it is having very little effect. I sort of want her to come now, but part of me is going so not ready, so not ready! Half my hospital bag stuff is still in the washing machine (all the newborn baby clothes - doesn't it feel odd to wash them? I didn't want to put any actual dirty clothes in with them to contaminate them - had to tell self sternly to get a grip!). I still haven't got a nursing bra either.

I don't really have any indicators of labour yet - the occasional BH, pain in the cervix every now and then when walking, but nothing sustained. I'm going to the cinema tonight to see Black Swan - hopefully nothing will happen during that, because DH isn't coming and he'll be stuck at home without the car!

Best wishes to you all - have a lovely weekend!

TooImmature2BMum · 19/02/2011 15:12

Is it nesting to have just arranged all the baby clothes I've been given/bought by age into different drawers?
