Just adding self into list - had scan last week as had rather alarming if benign bleed on wednesday night. scan didn't show anything other than normal healthy everything, and there's only 1 in there - a great relief as am now in my maternity trousers at a mere 12 weeks! Blush

PrettyVacant1 · 30/01/2011 15:04

Dundeemarmalade I'm 10 weeks today and have been walking around with my work trousers undone so finally succombed to a bump band, they are a god send!
New Look 3 for a £10 black, white and a grey one.
Stuffing my face probably isn't helping too Blush
Can't wait till I don't have to hold my stomach in anymore!

Does anyone know where I can get fatMat pants/jeans from?
I'm a short arse 5'3 14/16 with a big bum and good childbearing hips. Grin
It's the short bit that seems to be a problem.

dundeemarmalade · 30/01/2011 15:38

glad it's not just me! bump bands were good this time, but don't seem to work this time. my jeans just slid down, which is potentially even more embarrassing than wearing maternity trousers!

nickstermum · 30/01/2011 16:24

Hola, not caught up, been busy all weekend Grin

saw backache though... i have terrible backache :( filling me with horror actually thinking bad thoughts!! Had backache horribly when i was MCing - even though im sure its all ok (FX) i still will be very reassured when i get to hear the hb

PrettyVacant1 · 30/01/2011 16:25

Ah, I grew my bum and hips to fit so loose jeans are not an issue for me Grin

MrsVidic · 30/01/2011 18:06

another food confession. A mcd filet of fish and medium fries. Mmm :-)

littlemisslozza · 30/01/2011 18:19

tokyotwist if your baby measures less than 45mm from crown to rump they can't do the nuchal. Mine was just 45mm at 11+1 (they put me back a few days) so it could be done, but the sonographer said she would have just rearranged the scan for the following week so no need to worry IMO.

sisterT · 30/01/2011 20:25

Hi guys - what a lot to catch up on!!
Latest food confession? Sherbert Lemons! Great to keep in the car if you are getting a bit travel sick!!!

I had my private nuchal scan yesterday - the bloods are done prior to the scan so that you get your 'odds' straight away. As it stands, I have odds of 1:544 which, being truly ancient (43!) is better than i thought and still considered low risk. The problem is apparently that the abdominal wall around the umbilical cord hasnt closed over yet. This usually happens between 11&12 weeks. As I was 11+6 yesterday, I have to go back next week for another scan to see that everything has closed up. The consultant is 99% sure that it will but if it hasnt, my odds drop to 1:3, despite there being a nasal bone present. Sad. I of course am being a total worrywort about this and have delayed my big news day today for another week Sad.

The plus side is that I now know that my tummy is not just all wind...........

MrsStevo · 30/01/2011 20:59

Helllo all! Congratulations to all of you who have had happy scans in the last few days! Exciting!

I've just got home from a romantic mini-break with my DH (it's our 1st wedding anniversary today). Had a lovely time but have found it nice to be home, think being away is a bit of a faff in a way as I couldn't eat what I fancied when I fancied it and couldn't nap on the sofa when I needed to!

Am now in full on fret mode about our next scan - tomorrow at 11:15am. I just don't feel at all pregnant so I can't see how I can be. Plus I feel like I should at least have a teensy bump or something given that there's supposed to be TWO of them in there! Anyway, FX for tomorrow, I'll be absolutely over the moon happy if everything is ok. Am dreading what will happen if it isn't :(

Hope you're all well and enjoying eating for 2 / 3! I've found a new love - dandelion and burdock! Mmmm.

PrettyVacant1 · 30/01/2011 21:35

I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for you MrsStevo
It's normal to be in fret mode, self preservation and all.

Happy Anniversary too. Smile

CappuccinoCarrie · 30/01/2011 22:37

Oh dear this fell off my 'threads i'm on' list...must do better!

Welcome to the newbies, and congrats on all those scans! Only one more week and I'm allowed to phone and book a scan Hmm. I'm feeling rather tubby and have started telling people (I'm 11+2 now) but I'm still worried I'm making it all up, as most people seem to be until they've actually seen proof of there being something in there!! I have no idea where my bump bands from last time have gone, thanks for the gucci New Look recommendation PV1

Happy Anniversary mrsS! We can't wait to hear news of your scan tomorrow :)

bryher I'm afraid I'm still in the drinking several pints (of water) a day brigade, I have a raging thirst all the time it seems. Unfortunately I've been finding it hard to get back to sleep after my 4am wee lately so I've been shattered. DH is away on business but my mum's come up to help for a few days, so I could have a nap today.

PV1 have you tried ebay? I have the opposite problem of very long legs, but there's usually a reasonable selection of things to bid on, and new stuff is being added all the time.

My latest thing is I'm going to need maternity pjs. I honestly don't know what I wore the last two times...but my normal pjs really dig in and are hurting, and its too cold to go trouserless in bed just yet!

LittleBeaut · 30/01/2011 23:21

Can I ask a silly question?? How do the bump bands works?? What exactly do you do with them??

I had all the good intentions of getting more cleaning done to day... but it never got done. I got the bathroom, living room and kitchen done today and honestly did mean to do more when I was home from lunch at mums but it never got done. I'm just too tired, but then cant sleep Angry its doing my head in!!

CappuccinoCarrie · 30/01/2011 23:37

bump bands basically bridge the gap between the top of your bottoms and the bottom of your tops iyswim. So it looks like you're wearing layered tops, but actually the under layer is the bump band. They cover up trousers that don't entirely do up Blush and bridge the gap when your tops start riding up a bit. They also keep you warm/preserve your modesty when bf as they cover your tummy when you lift your top. HTH!

SelinaDoula · 30/01/2011 23:55

Congratulations to all the newcomers and those that have had their scans. I uploaded mine to my profile finally. Also announced all on facebook!
I am also trying to drink more (and not just weak cups of coffee).
I lost a couple of stone this year so trying to stay relativey fit, but it was mostly by cutting carbs, and carbs are the only things that seem to stop me feeling nauseous! Oh well, at least I know it can be done!
I'm cycling 20 mins to work 4 days a week (although worried I wont be very steady soon) and trying to do weights 1/2 a week.
I don't seem to have much of a bump, but finding belly bands very useful as all my work trusers wont do up!
S xx

Cadmum · 31/01/2011 01:16

Thinking of you Mrs. stevo... I've been there...

mrsred · 31/01/2011 08:39

Capp carrie, have you tried gap for maternity jeans? I found them very long?

KTisPG · 31/01/2011 08:41

Hello all, and welcome newbies. I've not been on since Friday as we've had a laptop disaster involving a glass of milk and a 2yo, and I think it is fatally injured Sad.

I'm another fan of bump belts, but I prefer the Topshop ones. They are a little bit more (£5 each) but are more elasticated, so I find keep my trousers up better. I also wear them over maternity trousers that are still loose. 5 days to my scan and counting...

Yukana · 31/01/2011 08:42

Dundee and PrettyVacant: I'm also in large or maternity trousers. Blush I'm wearing my baggy tshirts (XL) and such too. So you aren't the only ones!

And best of luck and hugs for your scan today, MrsStevo. I hope it'll be okay and do tell us how it went when you get back

Lovely to hear all the good news this morning!

Got into an argument with DP last night, apologised but he wasn't all talkative despite that, so hopefully this morning he'll feel better. Worried me sick when he went out for a long walk immediately after it happened.

RugbyWidow7 · 31/01/2011 08:42

Cappucino I'm completely with you on the thirst front - it's constant I just can't drink enough! Saying that though hot bovril has become my new thing to crave adding to the ever growing list - sweets are still top!

I'm 11weeks today and have 1wk1day countdown to my scan -can't wait. Though I didn't particularly enjoy being weighed by mw last week, already up over 2kg! It's great reading all your experiences, esp as we've decided to opt for the nuchal, so it helps to read all your experiences if it.

MrsChemist · 31/01/2011 08:46

PV1 I'm 5ft and really struggled to find maternity jeans. I got some from New Look, Mothercare and Mamas and Papas. The mothercare ones are a bit naff and not great quality considering the price. I got a great pair in the sale at Mamas and Papas for a tenner.

Firawla · 31/01/2011 08:59

good luck mrs stevo for scan and happy anniversary. good luck whoever else is having a scan today if anyone is? i didnt spot anyone else mention but if you are hope it goes well

i am soo tired ive got both my boys ill now, just as little one starting to improve a bit, 2 yr old came down with it and hes hardly even keeping water down, i feel so sorry for them :( and also bit sorry for myself cos i hate being stuck at home. and thinking its gonna be difficult with three small ones if they all get ill at the same time, hardly enough room on your lap for everyone

i need to get some maternity clothes too, dont seem to have any jeans or trousers left from my other 2, dont know when i will get chance to go shops but i wanted to go and try stuff on than ordering online. normal clothes not feeling comfy tho jeans digging in etc, so feel like wearing joggers all the time to be comfy, but also makes u feel like uve made no effort which doesnt feel nice. although saying that probably just gonna stay in pjs today as we wont go out and will be spending my day mopping up sick - lucky me! Hmm

LittleBeaut · 31/01/2011 10:00

I'm living in leggings through the week and joggers on a weekend. I'm finding the place clothes are doing my head in most is the crotch... I'm finding everything very short there - ouch!! Blush

littlemisslozza · 31/01/2011 10:13

Hope the scan goes well mrsstevo.

I've got a stinking cold Sad. Anyone got any tips on how to feel a bit better? I'm taking paracetamol and drinking hot orange squash (you never know my body might be fooled into thinking it's really lemsip....!). Any ideas gratefully received, thanks.

MrsChemist · 31/01/2011 10:21

littlemisslozza you can use vicks and saline nasal sprays as well. Ask your dr. first, but I think buttercup syrup is ok.

I put the vicks in a bowl of hot water and leaned over it for 5-10 minutes. It helped clear my nose.

MrsChemist · 31/01/2011 10:22

Oh and hope everything goes well with your scan mrsstevo
