Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I'm really pleased for those of you who had your scans over the last couple of days & loving your scan pics. YOu've inspired me to put one of mine up too.

With DD1 I had to be checked for immunity against chickenpox too sleepyowl. Neither me or my my mum could remember if I had it or not. If was a scary few days, so I can sympathize with you.

Tokyotwist I've felt my baby move since just over 8 weeks and asked my midwife about it - apparently it is entirely possible to feel them so early. I could feel both my girls really early too (11/12 weeks & 16/17 weeks). Most don't feel thier baby until around 20 weeks though.

I totally agree with trying to make the most of your 1st pregnancy. It certainly is much more challenging 2nd time around. I remember towards the end of my pregnancy that DD1 used to copy me & make groaning noises whenever she bent down to pick things up off the floor! haha Hmm

Firawla · 29/01/2011 16:06

aww lovely to see everyone's scan pics

sleepyowl must be a relief to find you have immunity! otherwise its so worrying. when i was already overdue with my ds2 my mum started saying "oh i think ds1 has chicken pox" he didnt!! but really scared me because i didnt want to end up bringing baby home into a chicken pox infested house. thinking of vaccinating mine for it actually they both still never had it

agree about enjoying first pregnancies, i remember how i used to go for a little nap in the afternoons, would never be able to get away with that now!
luckily am starting to feel quite a bit better though i think nausea has pretty much gone! yay! although still not blooming i look like crap, but not suffering half as much as my previous two, thank God cos that would have been hard!!

my poor ds2 is not feeling well @ the moment, getting sick a lot :( but luckily that i dont feel too ill myself to clean it all up etc, otherwise could have been difficult

Yukana · 29/01/2011 18:44

Going to have a pathetic mumble in this post.

I have an eating disorder, or rather, it's a little better now but still bothers me to a certain degree. After being obsessed with my size, weight, food, etc for years, I'm feeling slightly miserable right now, feeling sorry for myself I suppose.
I love to wear baggy clothing because if I don't, I just don't feel comfortable. But I feel as if I don't feel okay in anything but pajamas anymore. Moving around is uncomfortable and going outside generally makes me upset. I was a big child but then slimmed down significantly due to said disorder, but have put on a lot of weight (2 stone or so) and am feeling it in just about every area of my body. I just don't know how to make myself happy when wearing something other than pajamas. (Due to my 'tree trunk' thighs, although I know it sounds silly) I realise this is a bit weird, but hmm.

Sorry, needed to have a silly rant about how bad I feel at the moment. Was supposed to go to a quiz night tonight but won't do so as I don't feel comfortable in any of my clothes.

LadyGoneGaga · 29/01/2011 19:10

Hugs Yukana - you sound really fed up. You are pregnant though and so your body shape will change. I know it can be hard to come to terms with but you are growing a beautiful bump for your beautiful baby to live in. I have put weight on all over too but it will go afterwards. I live in leggings, boots and long tops/dresses - they are comfy and hide a multitude of sins.

Please don't let feeling like this stop you from doing stuff...pregnant women always look beautiful Grin - honestly.

aStarWithHerOwnWays · 29/01/2011 19:25

Yukana might it be worth starting a thread asking for advice on this specific issue? You're certainly not the only woman to have to deal with the ramifications of pregnancy and eating disorders, and there might be other MNers who have found useful strategies for tackling them. You can always namechange if you don't want the thread attached to you.

FWIW I think most of us would happily stay in pyjamas during pregnancy if we could! They're just so much more comfy than actual clothes Blush

MrsChemist · 29/01/2011 19:40

yukana Sorry to hear you're having a rough time of it. Perhaps start a thread in mental health. There will be plenty of lovely MNetters there who will know how you feel and will be able to offer help and sympathy.

Not at all saying you aren't welcome to post here, but there might be more people able to offer advice from first hand experience.

Yukana · 29/01/2011 19:47

Thank you, LadyGoneGaga, aStar and MrsC.

I feel slightly better having got it out to be honest. Blush I'm terribly sorry to have put such a pathetic grumble on here. I'm so happy to be pregnant sometimes I wish the bump would grow lots so I can see and feel it better! Dresses and long tops are saints, I couldn't live without them.
I've been told I'm beautiful an awful lot but it's only since I've become pregnant that I've become more comfortable with the compliments and myself. A few people have said perhaps the pregnancy was some kind of sign, and I like to think it was. :) Hah, I got all teary typing the last part.

I find listening to music and singing along helps me when I'm feeling miserable, so from doing that I feel slightly better too. I'm sat here watching television and eating Mrs Crimbles Coconut Macaroons. Blush

aStarWithHerOwnWays · 29/01/2011 20:00

Glad you're feeling better. And remember that antenatal threads are the natural home of pregnancy grumbles big and small :) There is no such thing as TMI and no such thing as an unwarranted moan Grin

KLou111 · 29/01/2011 20:23

Yukana if you can't rant here, where can you?? I'm expecting to get huge, and actually in a strange kinda way, am looking forward to it, as it's my baby, and would do anything, even if it means getting fat lol!

LittleBeaut · 29/01/2011 20:37

Finally caught up on everything... I think ha

Yukana I've never had an eating disorder and I'm in a panic about getting a bump. I have been through it twice before too so I know exactly what to expect, but have spent 18 months at slimming world loosing weight and feel a little like its all been a waste of time. I assume that will all change when the baby gets here. And you have to think that like someone said you body is doing an absolutely amazing, beautiful thing Smile

I'm proper bored tonight!! Another Saturday night home alone Sad. My kids have gone to their dads and there is bugger all on tele. I couldnt be bothered making any proper tea so just had a tuna sarnie and a bag of crisps... did enjoy it mind Grin

LittleBeaut · 29/01/2011 20:38

KLou I like your style gal!! ha

Bryher · 29/01/2011 22:13

wheresmytractor Sorry to hear about your DH :( I do have experience with this, my DH has bipolar disorder, and I know how difficult it can be to try and be supportive while worrying about jobs/money etc. Thankfully, his medication seems to be controlling it a lot better at the moment. My best advice would be - encourage him to seek medical advice - anti depressants can and do help if they get the dosage / type right which can take a while; they might also be able to offer talking therapies which can help. Also keep talking to him and keep an eye out for warning signs that things may be getting worse - when my DH had a bad patch it was sleeping badly and getting down all the time rather than just sometimes. If his work are at all supportive, occupational health can sometimes help, it's not in their interests if he goes off work sick either. I've also found it can help my DH to remind him that his depression comes and goes, although it feels really bad right now, he won't always feel that way. Also, he likes to get a hug when he's feeling down, even though it always felt to me that he withdrew from me and didn't want affection when he was down. I have found it hard sometimes not to get impatient with him when he is constantly miserable, but it helps to talk to him and know how he is feeling.

hugs to you, it sounds a really difficult situation with your little one on the way as well. PM me if you'd like to talk about it any time, it can help to vent. xxx

Bryher · 29/01/2011 22:20

Agreed with all who are not blooming, it is comforting to know it is not just me! I have not enjoyed the first trimester, feeling tired and/or sick all the time. I also don't feel it's real yet, have scan next Tuesday (only 11 weeks so not sure why they're not waiting to 12), maybe I will let myself believe it then. Agreed it is prob defence mechanism.

One thing that's worrying me is I don't think i'm drinking enough, e.g. not waking up overnight to pee - but I just don't feel that thirsty. Is anyone else forcing themselves to drink more or are you just doing it naturally?

My DH and I have decided to have the Nuchal test, but won't have amnio/CVS even if high risk. I did wonder if it was worth doing it if we wouldn't have further tests, but DH suggested that if we were high risk it would be nice to have warning so we could wrap our heads round the idea and prepare ourselves before the little one is born - rather than be shocked when he/she is born - it made sense to me.

Take care all xx

stepjo · 29/01/2011 23:10

Hi all
Wow I'm late finding you :) I'm StepJo, DD 16.08.11, first baby, already put on tonnes of weight, grumpy and sick, had scan this week all fine and baby very active, been able to feel 'butterflies' since 8 weeks and really pleased that some of you say you've felt movement this early as my midwife was pretty disparaging when I told her. She also said I was getting fat too quickly which I really appreciated and referred me to Rosemary Conley...

Tokyotwist · 30/01/2011 08:16

Bryher I'm also not drinking enough. I can tell because my pee is very dark and I don't go that often. I am trying very hard to force myself to drink more but when you're feeling sick, a glass of water or juice just makes things worse. And there's only so much coke I can drink.

One thing which helps slightly to get the water down is a slice of lemon. I keep a lemon cut up in the fridge under cling film so it seems like less faff if I need a drink.

Ultimately though, I'm just not thirsty.

I'm having my scan tomorrow. I'll be 10wks, the MW thinks I'm 12wks as they calculate based on a regular 28 day cycle. But my cycles are 38-42 days. I've heard this may mean I need to repeat the scan at 12 wks or it will mess up the Downs tests. Has anyone else been in this position. Did you actually have to repeat or was 10wks ok?

MrsVidic · 30/01/2011 08:27

hi guys, yukana i have had previous eating disorders and find it hard during preg. However i suprised myself last time and it went fine after the first 14 weeks. It took that long for me to get my head round things. I don.t know your personal history but i was pretty bad and in hospital for a year at 15. Yet it really has made me a better person. My first piece of advice would be to talk to people but not perhaps the people most affected last time as they may just jump the gun, i know my mum would. Secondly, have a maximum weigh in total for the week like mine is 1 i'll only weigh myself once. Eat when your hungry, as if you don.t you may binge and start a horrific cycle. See the baby being born as a new start. Focus on that being the time to get in a sustainable shape. Ie i was shocked how fast the breast feeding shifted weight. Keep active through preg, one walk a day or what ever your into. But please talk, vent your fears. Dp's are great for this mine is a rock. X

LittleBeaut · 30/01/2011 09:39

Bryher I also have a feeling I'm not drinking enough, but I have never been a big drinker - my granny used to say it from me being a very young age. I have gone completely off coffee so that there is a problem in itself because thats what I used to drink most Hmm I'm not waking through the night to go to the loo, but if I'm woken by one of the kids coming in etc then I will go.

Did someone mention backache earlier?? Sorry cant remember who it was Confused I to and getting backache, only if I'm sitting down - get a shooting pain in my right side and I get it when I stand to and the first few steps I take Sad. I have even thought that if it gets much worse I'll have to take paracetamol for it x

konatsu · 30/01/2011 09:40

I am a new entry and hope you don't mind me saying "hello". Smile This is my first pregnancy and my EDD is 14 August. I am having my nuchal scan next week ? fingers crossed!

Tokyo They should date you properly on your scan and go from there.
I was adamant that I was due a week later than they said as my first cycle was 35 days, second 28 days, then got preggo, but didn't get a positive til 39 days, so I thought I would have had a long cycle for it to show that late.

I had an early scan due to a bleed and was meant to be 9w3d according to them, and was dated as 8w3d, so I was right.....so I thought. I have just had my dating scan Friday and was meant to be 11w3d, but dated back up to 12w1d, so until you have your scan, you can never be 100% lol! I am not sure if you are over 10 weeks whether you will get another one until your 18-20 week one, but it would be worth asking :)
Hope this makes sense!!!

Hello,
Hope it's ok if I pop back in again and put myself back on the list.
I'm feeling a little more confident today Hmm
Grin
I have my third scan on Tue when FX we will see a wriggly bean.
I've never got this far before so to say I'm shitting it is an understatement.
