wishwales yes, I think that's right. The sonographer at my scan said that the presence of a nasal bone is good but not enough on its own, also the measurement is arbitrary until it is combined with the bloods, age, weight and other factors. I don't understand the weight thing though as how can they tell if you are overweight unless they incorporate your height too??? Anyone know more about this?

Had my scan today :) It's amazing seeing a little baby wriggling about on the screen.
It seems that I am 11+6 today, so an EDD of 13/08 now. Apparently I concieved twins, but one didn't make it past 5/6 weeks, the other baby is very healthy and extremely active tho to make up for it!
Won't get bloods back til next Weds, but everything looked ok on scan so fingers X'ed for a low risk result.

Great news about everyone else's scans aswell :0

I know what people are saying about not 'blooming'. With my DS I was sick for the first 20+ weeks, and then got so fat so fast I was miserable. This time around I am spotty, hungry, tired and rapidly becoming fat too, and I have DS to run around after into the bargain Hmm

For those 1st timers out there, I can only say to try and enjoy this experience as much as possible, as you'll never get the chance to embrace being pregnant in quite the same way again, and I wish I'd moaned less last time and saved up the moaning for this time as I think I'm, gonna need it Wink

Yay, my first scan is on Monday. Boo, that's a whole weekend away.

I agree with the blooming thing also. My first pregnancy wasn't very nice. I went from being sick for what seemed like ages to swelling up and being monitored for pre-eclampsia. It was just not what I expected.

So far this time has been pretty bad. 10 weeks now and I've been sick from the beginning, had a cold and a tummy bug which lasted a week.

I am determined though to enjoy it this time and I am beginning to feel a bit better. This may sound silly, but I do think the nausea is a bit better when I'm busy and don't have time to think too much about how I feel.

Bring on the Bloom Grin

Lovely to hear about the scans and your pictures are great, Yukana!

Definitely agree with Leilandri about enjoying your pregnancy, especially when you go on maternity leave before the baby arrives!! I really wish I'd appreciated that more, this time I am NOT looking forward to those last few weeks with an energetic 20 month old in tow!

I agree lifeofkate! I found it a lot easier when DS2 was newborn than those last few weeks of pregnancy! I was so heavy and slow at the end but busy with DS1 who was 23 months.

Congrats on the active, healthy baby Leil! :) Good luck with the blood results.

Is anyone else getting really bad back pain? Doesn't happen all the time, but often I get some pain. Today however, sharp, very nasty pain in my lower back, and it's not going away. Does anyone recommend anything for this?

Hi all, had my scan today, totally in love with my little one!
Scam piccie on my profile (think you just click my name above). Got 3 picture, but more or less the same. Have been dated 12 weeks 1 day, instead of 11w3d so now due earlier on 11th August.
Little one did a little backflip and waved at us, so wish we could have got a video, it was hilarious!! Grin

Congratulations on everyones' scans Smile
I bloomed last time, but was too miserable in my horrid job to really enjoy it. I had loads of holiday before mat leave so left at 32 weeks. DS was 2 weeks early, so I got six weeks of being fat and sweaty (was a very hot summer) sat on my sofa.

This time I'll be stressed running around after DS. I feel tired just thinking about it.

i know the feeling mrschemist i am just hoping i can potty train dd 18 months old before july! Its a lot harder being this tired and not resting but it does make the time go quicker. I'm having to hide to snack from my dd or else she'll end up eating all the time too

Actually have had an incredibly stressful week. I'm a teacher and a child in my class went off with chicken pox.

As far as I know I've never had it (although I've been doing this job long enough to have been exposed many, many times). So this week I have had urgent blood tests to see if I have antibodies or not. Finally got the results last night and apparently I have immunity. HUGE sigh of relief.

Now I've got to have the standard pregnancy blood tests early next week and have got my scan date for 8th February. Still worrying about all of that but it's so good not to have the chicken pox worry on top of it all.

How early can you feel baby move?

Last night I felt a flutter across my lower belly. It felt very much like something moving but as I'm only 10wks I'm not sure. Anyone else experienced this?

sleepyowl glad you've had your mind put at rest about the chickenpox.

Tokyotwist I'm sure I can feel the occasional movement now at only 13 weeks, but with DS I didn't feel anything till about 24wks. That said, I did feel what I later realised were movements, but didn't know that's what they were at the time. Iyswim. So you might be feeling something now, or it might be just wind Grin

Have had loads of stretching pains lately as well. I wonder if this baby will be a big one? DS was a round 8lb but is a very chunky 2yo now.

I would also advise all first-timers to make the very most of their pregnancies, non-blooming permitting of course. Last time I had such fun dossing around on maternity leave, napping whenever I liked, lying on the sofa MNing and watching tv. This time I anticipate much hot, sweaty crossness as I chase after DS.

I've not read all the posts from yesterday yet and didnt have a chance to log on much yesterday. But wanted to let you all know that I went to the hospital complete with wee in an old coke bottle (small one not a 2lt one ha) and got there, sat for ages waiting finally got called in. Nurse took my blood pressure and tested my wee (she also gave me a few sample bottles after laughing at me, but did say at least I'd brought one). I then had to wait for a Doctor to come and see me... when he got there he sat down said about me having gestational diabetes in my youngests pregnancy what treatment did I have blah blah blah. Then told me to book an apt for a GTT doing at 16 weeks. Told him I had an apt booked because my midwife had booked one and he said "Right lovely... good luck with everything then". I was bloody livid!! I rushed across town in rush hour trafic to get there sat about for a bit and was sent home with nowt... NOWT!! I was told that I'd be there at least two hours... I was not even there an hour. What a complete waste of time eh??
