Gosh you ladies like to talk! Its taken me half an hour to wade through all your news! Lovely to hear of all your scans, mines on Monday Grin

Yukana My DH is going through a very anxious time at the moment so I know a bit of what its like Sad He is in tears a lot and very very stressed at work. I am struggling to enjoy this pregnancy and am so worried that he will end up on long term sick with depression. Does anyone have any experience of this? I am at a loss of what to do.... I have even began to wish that little fluff wasn't here as the timing is so bad Sad then I hate myself for thinking it....Just hope it gets better soon.

Will update when have scan on Mon x

Hersetta · 27/01/2011 23:02

Littlebeaut- I don't think you need first morning wee or anything. All they do is dip your urine to check for proteins etc. Get one when you're at the hospital (they are in a box in the ladies at my maternity hospital) and produce a sample there and then!

I've never bothered to do anything else. Didn't want to be carrying sample in my handbag - scared it would leak and I'd have to throw my Mulberry away!!

OP posts:
nickstermum · 28/01/2011 08:00

LB ask them at the hosp to give you a sample bottle to take away this time... so you have something to use.

Good luck for all the pending scans this next few days FX for sticky wriggling ones!

tractor sorry your DH is having problems. Im sorry its causing you to think that about your bean. I hope bean adds joy not pressure. Have never had experience of stress or depression, but redundancy yes. Its terribly hard to deal with when they are low. Bean is here though.....:( even though the timing is off.

Yukana · 28/01/2011 08:02

aStar: I do hope it'll be a pleasant day, I'll be back mid-late afternoon to share what happened at the scan! I don't smoke, and I haven't drunk alcohol in almost three years. However, I did, and still have to some degree - (It never really goes away, you just try to push it into the back of your mind to the best of your ability) - an eating disorder. Right now though, I'm trying to beat it for the sake of the baby. It's going well so far, and funnily enough, it doesn't feel as bad as I thought it would. Thank you though, it's reassuring in a sense that I'm not the only one with health issues.

Thank you Firaw. :)

Rugby:
I'm also breaking out in spots, I've heard it's just something women have during pregnancy, but it can get a little frustrating at times!

wmtractor: I have experience of long term depression, and anxiety. My mother has depression and bipolar, and my grandfather also has depression. You are definitely not alone and please, please feel free to talk to me anytime if you need to.
Trying to support those with depression is very difficult, especially as often when it gets bad for the person who has it - they feel low and as if there is no escape from that 'rock bottom' feeling. I may be able to offer some advice even if I think I'm not great at it, and I'm sure the little one will be able to lift his spirits. Do not worry too much, just gently support him where you can and try to get him to talk about his feelings or things he is stressed/worried about when he's okay with it.

KTisPG · 28/01/2011 08:45

Kate I also dislike being pregnant. Please don't feel guilty, you can't help how you feel. I swore after DS I wouldn't have any more, but it will pass and it will all be worth it in the end.

MrsS I would be Shock if you make it to 27 August - twins very rarely go full term, besides 27th is a good EDD Wink- I'm hoping to get mine into September and the new school year Grin

KTisPG · 28/01/2011 08:46

Oh, and good luck to everyone with scans, 1 week to go until mine.

LifeOfKate · 28/01/2011 08:52

Thanks all, I knew I could rely on you all to give some reassuring words :) WRT the scan, I read on the leaflet from the hospital about the early scan that kids are not allowed in :( Guess we will see when we get there. It's just soooo frustrating as ILs are practically always free (both retired and willing and able!), and are only going to SIL for a couple of days, it's just that one of those days is the scan date, grr!!

MrsStevo, I know what you mean about being at the end of the month, with DS I was due on 25th November and ended up not giving birth until 9th December!! Was very frustrating! Am quite happy to be the middle of the month now, I feel like I'm in the middle of the action :o

Firawla, yes, this pregnancy is going a lot quicker so far, so hopefully the baby will be here before I know it and the miserable pregnancy days will be behind me :o Last time, the first 12 weeks were the longest of my life, but it has whizzed by this time and I'm only a few days away from 12 weeks now :) I think it will help when we can tell the whole world too, keeping it a secret seems to make it harder somehow.

Yukana - best of luck for your scan, FWIW it is totally normal to worry about the first scan and doubt that there will actually be something in there. With my first scan with DS, I had such a shocked look on my face that DH asked me what I thought was going to be in there Blush

Firawla · 28/01/2011 09:12

KT you never know, me and my sis are twins and were due on i think the 19th aug (or might even been 17th) and born on 15th so hardly early at all! atleast have never heard of twins going overdue tho

and no i am not blooming either i never seem to bloom in pregnancy :(

FeralGirlCambs · 28/01/2011 09:15

bellamysbride try bottle green ginger and lemongrass cordial hot. It's fab!

Got my blood test results yesterday - chance 'less than one in 10,000' which sounds pretty good. Good luck everyone still waiting, and of course those who have chosen not to find out.

Hersetta, I thought everyone at Rosie looked about 15 when I went; one lady who I thought was a mum turned out to be granny! Must depend on the day!

Yukana · 28/01/2011 09:48

Kate:
I'm worried but I've got this comforting feeling that it'll be all right. Perhaps it's the extra support that gave me that, not sure, I just hope my instincts are correct! No stress thankfully this morning, DP stole my headphones however so I have to rush around trying to find another pair so I can listen to Bjork on the way up. Blush

I don't know whether anyone likes music recommendations, but I would highly suggest 'It's in our hands' by Bjork. The video could be considered odd, but I find it beautiful that in the video she's about seven months pregnant and singing softly. Maybe it's because of her being pregnant that I feel so connnected to it?

wishwales · 28/01/2011 11:32

Yukana thanks for the recommendation - just watched the video. Maybe that we are pregnant adds to the amazingness of it but Bjork is just very talented and captivating no matter what.

I have my nuchal tests (scan and bloods) today and have been quite nervous. I, too, suffer from bipolar and anxiety disorder (among a few physical ailments as well) and this has been rough!!

For those of you that mentioned not blooming, thank you so much for being honest. I have not been happy about being pregnant almost from the start. I feel blessed that I finally have a chance to be a mother but it has been so hard dealing with the all day sickness and lack of connection to the baby. I do think it is important that those of us that feel this way have a place to vent. Everyone who knows we are pregnant expects sheer joy and bliss and I am hardly capable of a smile.

daisysair · 28/01/2011 11:50

good luck this afternoon yukana!!

wishwales i was chatting to my mum this morning about not feeling connected to the bean growing inside me and she (a HV) reckons that it's a self defense mechanism-in case anything should happen. Makes sense. I like you feel so blessed to have this chance, but it def doesn't feel real yet. g'luck with your tests today

LifeOfKate · 28/01/2011 11:51

Yes, Wishwales, your last sentence summed up exactly how I feel. I do feel worse mentally this time round though, I suspect it's because last time I was blissfully unaware of the 'bad' bits of having a baby so am feeling a tad deflated at the thought of more sleepless nights/horrid nappies, etc. It certainly did NOT help when I confided in that particular feeling to a good friend of mine and she said 'oh, I know I won't feel like that next time, as my DS has been such a joy to take care of' Hmm Think she just spectacularly missed the point, as I can't believe anyone does not have any low points at all when having a baby!! Mind you, she was the one whose newborn only woke once in the night from birth and has been a fantastic sleeper ever since Envy

LifeOfKate · 28/01/2011 11:53

Sorry, meant to add on the bottom, I do think a great part of my feeling low is due to tiredness, I have always been a bit sensitive to not having had a good nights sleep and I'm definitely not having those at the moment.

SelinaDoula · 28/01/2011 11:56

MrsS I was a doula for twins last year and she went to 40+4 also had the babies in the midwife led unit and used the pool for pain relief (See Kat's story here www.magicalbirth.co.uk/6.html)
S x

MrsVidic · 28/01/2011 12:04

hello ladies, just back from my scan. I'm now due on the 4th and have one less week to go, yeah :) it was really nice seeing the baby and my dd got a little worried about me when i was having blood taken as she probably thought i was having injections and she hates those. My scan came out low risk and i was really happy with it. However the bean was upside down so i had to have a wee so he would move.

wishwales · 28/01/2011 12:25

daisysair That makes so much sense about the defense mechanism. Perhaps I am trying to protect myself without even realizing it. The mind can be so powerful, huh? I hope your Mom is right so I can relax a bit and start feeling connected after today's tests.

lifeofkate I have already asked my husband if one child would be enough for him because of how bad the first trimester was - just starting the 2nd tri today so fingers crossed. And about sleeping, I have finally slept through the night (except for 1 or 2 pees) for the past three nights! What a flipping relief. It takes a huge toll on you when you are awake most of the night worrying. My SIL was exactly the way you describe your friend - until she had her second!

KLou111 · 28/01/2011 13:19

Wow, you lot were busy chatting last night lol!

Re the spots, have bought a Tea Tree Oil set from the Body Shop, which has face wash, toner, tea tree oil, spot stick and blemish fader in it, God send!! Been using the face wash for over a year anyway, but the rest is great too.
As for greasy hair, tell me about it. Greasy roots, dry ends???

Got our scan at 2:45pm, can't bloody wait!!!!!!!! Meant to go for bloods at the same time, but MW couldn't do them when she was here for booking in due to it being a Friday, and what is it today........?
Will never get them done at this rate!

nickstermum · 28/01/2011 15:41

Greasy roots, ends like straw!

Gah i was blooming last pg..not a care in the world.. this time just totally different! Feel shattered all through the day, but not sleepign great nor tired in the evening when its time for bed... skin not been great since MC and last pg my hair was lovely and soft and silky!!

i am not complaining, i am sooooo grateful to be given a second chance that i will put up with anything... Grin but i do feel rough as a bag of spanners!

littlemissw · 28/01/2011 16:12

LittleBeaut, I've been laughed at for taking my urine sample in a spice/herb bottle - perfect size!

Really pleased for both you & Selena that your blood tests came back low risk. I'm getting really impatient now waiting for my 12w scan ... it's not until the 7 Feb! (I'll be 13 weeks) I'm so glad I had a private one last week. It seems like such a long wait.

Thank you for posting your Graze code MrsVidic Their flapjacs are soooo yummy!

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend ladies!

spilttheteaagain · 28/01/2011 16:35

Hope it's good news KLou

Yukana · 28/01/2011 17:28

Just came back from my scan. :) I'm 12 weeks and 2 days, meaning my due date is now August 10th. I'll update the list later.

DM and DP came in the scan with me, the baby was moving it's limbs, and when the nurse touched a certain spot, the baby actually jumped! It was such a pleasant surprise I was left with a sort of 'head in the clouds' smile for ages. Took three pictures home and have scanned them, so I shall upload them to my profile very soon. I was worried there would be something wrong but there wasn't, and now I'm left feeling slightly in awe of what's happened today.

On another note, I found the most gorgeous bunny for the baby on the John Lewis site, I'd really recommend taking a look at some of their cuddly/fluffy toys.

littlemisslozza · 28/01/2011 18:07

That's great yukana, pleased for you. Are they jellycat bunnies on John Lewis's website? If so they make gorgeous soft toys, my DS's have a few different ones (all received as gifts when they were born so I wouldn't go overboard....) and they are sold in loads of places.

wishwales · 28/01/2011 18:09

My nuchal measurement was 1.17 today (at 13 wks). I won't know the results of the bloods until Thursday though. The sonographer said she thinks there was a nasal bone but she wasn't looking for it. I think that is a good measurement but I also think that it doesn't mean much until the bloods, right??
