Thank you all for your kind thoughts........

sweetkitty · 26/10/2005 17:36

horseshoe - so lovely to hear from you, glad your little girl is doing well, will keep everything crossed for you to get to 34 weeks.

Jaysfirst - will check out the photos in a bit, unfortunately I have lost the USB for my camera to the PC in the move so can't upload any new photos right now.

Have had horrendous day with SI pain, feel so sore and uncomfortable, haven't done anything different so puzzled as to why it's so sore today.

iris66 · 26/10/2005 17:47

Wahey Horseshoe! great to see you back on line!! and really pleased that your little totty is doing well too!! Puppy vs rest might be tough but what lovely prezzies (you must have been a very good girl this year! lol)

Elly - sorry for being rude & not saying hi earlier (welcome to our world!)- it was a bit of a rushed post. look forward to chatting to you over the coming months
Have you put your details on our stats thread yet?

Hi all - nice to see so many posts - lovely idea Jaysfirst with the photobucket, and great to see you back horseshoe & that little one is doing fine

Been for a scan myself today - 30 wks. It was to check his kidneys, but it was all normal. I've never had one with the baby so big before - it's weird that you don't get a picture of the whole baby any more - just all the bits in turn! He's sitting head up (I had no idea, even tho he does spend a lot of time kicking me in the bladder!) Hope he doesn't get too comfortable that way up, as I have decided I would like to have a home birth this time... Strangely, my babies seem to be getting smaller each time - this one is predicted as smallest yet, so should be like a bar of soap to pop out

Iris - on the camera software - can you not just download Adobe Photoshop Album Starter Edition (free)? We use it, it's great and it seems to recognise any camera we plug in (my mum's, ILs etc) without the need to download any other specific software. Maybe give it a try? Adobe is very reliable, I'm sure it won't crash everything.

Rachey your house sounds like it will be gorgeous - we will probably be doing this place up in a couple of years. Can't risk it til the business is off the ground, so just bought some extra lamps today to cheer the place up a bit!

Sweetkitty I hope you sleep ok tonight & that SI pain is better tomorrow - could the damp weather make you stiff, or is it mainly a ligament thing?

A nice warm bath beckons, so I will stop wittering for now

Jaysfirst · 26/10/2005 21:30

Ta Tickle, its become a bit of a success but a few people have concerns about posting on a site, so i have set up a yahoo group ( more secure) if anyone wishes to join then please do so.

health.groups.yahoo.com/group/mumsnetpix/

I will delete the other account tomorrow, just leave it up long enough for others to know the situation!

Hiya

Just got back from a day out in Blackpool, not my idea of fun to tell you the truth. Seeing the illuminations was fun and being with my mum, kids and dh was good, but the rest was tacky and very wet (why was that a surprise?). Also, while dd, my mum and me were having our lunch (dh and ds wanted to do fast things on rollercoasters), I noticed a louse (of the nit variety) in dd's parting, and of course had to forcibly restrain myself from picking over her head throughout the meal. I've just finished nit combing her, she has almost waist length blonde hair, so it took a while.... We haven't had nits in the house for years, I put it down to her helping in the nursery every day at school lately. She didn't have many anyway, but it means lots of nit combing to come, in case they've laid eggs. Lovely.

Iris, the soup was a concoction, boiled up chicken carcass for base, picked off rest of nice meat, gave the grotty meat to the dog and cat, soaked broth mix overnight (i.e. barley, lentils, peas etc.), sweated shallots, celery, courgette, carrots, added stock, broth mix, boiled up for half an hour, then finally added chopped watercress, chicken meat, pepper and marigold powder to taste - yummo. It's a bit time consuming, but worth it. (Hope you wanted the recipe!)

Elly

Re. the birthing ball thing, my sacro-iliac pain has been a lot better since I've started sitting on my birthing ball. (SWEETKITTY, have you got one?) Argos or Decathlon are the cheapest places to buy them, they're called exercise balls, but they're the same as the NCT ones, but from 3.99 - 12.99.

Horseshoe,

so glad to have you back, and to know that all's well with your honey pie. I have to admit my imagination had run away with me and I was worrying about lots more amniotic bands doing horrible things to her.

Tickle, glad your baby's kidneys have returned to normal and that the scan went well. Did you manage to get any shopping done whilst you were on the mainland?

Good sleep to everyone, I'll probably be dreaming about nits or other insects of some sort!

Tickle · 27/10/2005 07:24

ooh lyra, even at 8am that soup recipe is making me hungry Off to get chicken out of freezer for roasting to start the process...

Just got dd1 clear of nits after what seemes like about 6 mths of combing... just hope winter here kills them off and she doesn't come home reinfested.

Think I might get my mum to post me one of those balls from Argos - from what a few people have said it might encourage bub to get his head down nice & early (hopeful emoticon).

Off to clean up the house - only shopping yesterday amounted to lighting - had a long list including a long cardi, but only just made the ferry home after surfacing from Ikea and Ilva (not sure if it's in UK, but sim to ikea, bit more designer-ey).

Have a good day everyone

sweetkitty · 27/10/2005 09:04

Morning

Tickle - thats great news about the babies kidneys

Lyra - am definately getting one of those exercise balls tomorrow from Argos. How do you pump them up do you need a bicycle pump or do they supply something to pump it up?

I have a bum under my right hand side rib cage right now I have to sit up properly to make myself long (not easy) or it gets really uncomfy, remember this with DD as well. I think my womb must be comfier spp? on the right hand side.

Hope everyone else is doing OK today as well.

lyra41 · 27/10/2005 09:18

Sweetkitty

You can use a bicycle pump or foot pump or electric pump (that attaches to the car if you have one) to pump the ball up. It does take a while, but it's worth it. A job for dp / dh methinks. I got a big one (75cms) as I'm quite tall, the 65cm one is probably fine for anyone 5' 5" or less. If you decide to get Argos own one, for £3.99, check the box before you leave the shop to make sure it has a stopper in it. Mine didn't and neither did my friend's, so save yourself the trouble of taking it back.

The sun is actually shining here today. Wayhey!

Off for toaast and marmalade now. See you soon xx

sweetkitty · 27/10/2005 09:22

Thanks lyra I think the shorter one will do me then (I'm only 5'3") will get DP to pump it up on Saturday for me then using the car pump!

Think DD will love it also.

Jaysfirst · 27/10/2005 10:19

morning yoou January lovlies! Just for your infor....

some people showed concerns about posting pics up on a non password protected site, so i thought id change it and set up the more traditional yahoo site which i can password protect should we have any problems..... was just thinking of all you guys really.
Its dead simple all you have to do is go to this link;

health.groups.yahoo.com/group/mumsnetpix/

and join the group, then you can access and add pics til your hearts content, some links there too.

Sorry again if this is bother to anyone i should have just done it first off but i got so excited about it i didnt think properly...or is that just becasue i am pg...

i will periodically post the site during today so that everyone gets to hear and i will be removing the photobucket site ( as it has my email detials on it) at some point today)

Should be starting a new thread entitled mumsnetpix, will let you all know when!

J

Jaysfirst · 27/10/2005 11:58

Rachey1969 · 27/10/2005 14:33

Phew... Have 7 kids (from 5-11) in the house today! I am doing favours for friends who work (its half term) so hopefully they will do favours back for me when I need them! Of course I am supposed to be working but on very flexible time!

Jaysfirst - will investigate the photos, prefer the idea of a secure site, I have a networked work laptop and it is really locked down in terms of installing software/opening files/internet use etc so I'll see what I can do.

Horseshoe - glad all is ok - we do worry about each other! Take it easy with that pup, ours is 6months now and really good practice for a baby!

Tickle - glad your scan went went, I was scanned in labour with dd which was very weird! like a little floating skeleton, all in pieces!

Lyra - Nanny McPhee was really enjoyable, dd loved the ending. Sorry to hear about the nits, dd has only had them once despite having long hair, thank goodness and it is certainly no fun combing the little critters out.

Rachey1969 · 27/10/2005 14:59

Well I have been brave and added a couple of photos - one of my scan and one of me and the kids two years ago (I happen to have it scanned in) but we are two years older obviously now (and I am a couple of stone fatter and less blonde!) Will try and find one of me n dp and maybe a more up to date one of me - I have only those stored on my hard drive or on disks though.

Come on! don't leave me on my own!

Jaysfirst · 27/10/2005 15:06

Beautiful piccies Rach, its an awesome pic of you and the little ones, how are they feeling abuot having another addition to the family? Keep on pluggng away at all the Jan ladies, makes it all the more real when we have pics up, and at least its somewhere to post new bubs pics when they arrive!!

J

Rachey1969 · 27/10/2005 15:24

Aw thanks! They are thrilled. It is a flattering studio pic and it's amazing how more grown up they are in two years. Lovely ones of you too! Just a word of warning - do you know who the member Greg Evian (51) of New Jersey is? He looks a little like Barry Gibb... I think for all our peace of mind we need to be able to weed out weirdos!

Bewitched · 27/10/2005 16:08

Rachey - great photos. I see the years haven't been kind to you though . No need to ask who the kids get their hair colour from eh?

Jaysfirst · 27/10/2005 16:35

hiya, Rach, yes i know gregevian, its an alias that someone is using, i promise you that its NOT something to be woried about!! But thanks for pointing it out, there are a cpl of others i am not sure of but i havent been on mumsnet hat long so i will email them to check. If there are any other suss ones anyones not sure of lt me know, i can email or kick off!

J

Tickle · 28/10/2005 08:08

woah Rachey - not sure I'm going to post any pics now... got some professional shots to live up to Lovely ones. Where were you & dp in that pic - it looks lovely & warm!

Overslept this morning . Let dd1 stay up a bit late cos ds was away at a sleepover, so she didn't wake... dd2 woke us at 07:50 shouting "Mummy!" dd1 is supposed to be out of the door at 08:00 to cycle to school with her cousin. Relieved to say we made it, and she even downed a bowl of cereal, but head still spinning

lyra41 · 28/10/2005 08:48

Lock your back doors girls. Last nite someone pinched my handbag out of the kitchen. The dog did tell us, but of course, we just said "shut up Bella" and carried on watching telly. Hrrumph!

Tickle · 28/10/2005 09:23

No! the cheek of it! Oh Lyra, poor you How horrible.

Have to admit to never locking the house... but we do live at the back end of nowhere. Also I have the added security trap of large piles of dirty washing just inside the back door to trap the unwary

Good luck with all the hassle that goes with this... hope there wasn't anything too sentimental in there. Check over neighbours' fences - the cheeky bu**er might have just removed wallet/cash/cards & thrown the rest over a hedge [hopeful emoticon].

loomer · 28/10/2005 09:39

Hi all, gosh lots been going on... I haven't been able to post for a while, as my Mac at home seems to spaz out whenever a thread gets over about 150 posts, so I've been waiting to access on the PC at work.

Anyhow, good to catch up with all the news and activities. Had a look at the yahoo group pics: Rachey I never pictured you as a blonde - probably purely because the only Rachel's I know are all brunettes - how silly! But your studio photo is lovely, what a super bunch of kids they look. Jaysfirst, what a sweet pic of you and DP together... was it taken outside Hampton Court by any chance?? The background looks really familiar!

I will try to post a silly photo of me and DH taken at a friends wedding a few weeks ago, although he does look (in his own words) like "a middle-aged college professor"... largely in part I think to the bow-tie that he insists on wearing to all formal occassions!

Lyra, that's such a bu**er about your handbag... was it full of precious sentimental things that are of no value to anyone else? Or are you quite good at keeping yours for just tampons and tissues?! Thankfully our neighbourhood is disinterested in the contents of our house - we know this because over the past four years we have gone out to work all day leaving the back door wide open, a set of keys in the front door, and several variations on this theme (in fact last night I had to 'break in' myself through the back door, which wasn't closed properly yet again), and no-one has ever attempted to enter the property. I think it may be due to the fact that the house has looked like a building site/junk shop the entire time! passers-by have probably just assumed that we're squatters!!

Great to hear from Horseshoe, and amazed at the continuing adventures of Chuffed!

Nothing much to report from me - going up to see parents this weekend, and go pram shopping (joy)... last hypnobirthing session on Sunday (Iris, have you started yours yet?!)... saw midwife for 28wk appt on Wednesday, and everything is tickety-boo, phew.

Loomer x

lyra41 · 28/10/2005 10:54

AND someone sideswiped my car on Weds and didn't leave a note! Grrr. What's next.

sweetkitty · 28/10/2005 11:57

lyra - what a nightmare about your handbag, will go lock our sidedoor just now, have to admit I keep the front door locked but not the side door which is the one I use to get in and out.

Will have to check out all the pics in a bit.

Went and bought an exercise ball this morning, will get DP to pump it up at the weekend and I'll look forward to sitting on it
