Hello bumpy ladies!

Gosh, everyone's still so busy, and dealing with some tricky situations - makes my life seem very simple.

I'm working from home today - it's really nice not to have the 25 mile commute into work, but I do miss the office banter - I'm feeling rather lonely, with only radio 4 to keep me company! Only 13 more days at work left for me... I can't quite get my head around that one, but am slowly trying to extracate myself from office politics. Don't think my boss quite understands what maternity leave is all about - she has made several comments about me being available "at the end of the phone" next year!! I must remember to get caller display set up on my home phone .

I've also developed a real sore spot on the top of my bump today - I think perhaps the baby has turned, as I keep getting sharp pains at the top (feels like under my ribs), which I have not had before. Presumably that could be a bottom or some feet pushing on my organs? Certainly not braxton hicks anyhow (had a panic and visions of early labour this morning, then pulled myself together!!). Don't really want this LO appearing before christmas, thanks very much!

Our tiny house is now full of baby equipment, having brought a car load back from my cousin's at the weekend. Great to have got it all for free, but slightly scary seeing the sheer quantity of STUFF that we now have to accommodate. I may have to throw all my clothes away, that'll make some room!

Anyone got any nice plans for the weekend?

Evening all.

Eshay - funny you should say that about Rennie's. They do actually make me sick. Will try and cut down on Gaviscon as well and control via diet and glasses of milk!

2nd NCT class v. good. Diff midwife and physio this week. Both lovely. Missed out on all this stuff in USA because was on bed rest.

DH did accuse me of being class swot this week though . Sheesh, what's a girl to do!

Physio last week said we shouldn't bathe babies in sink as they could be burnt on taps, plus chain could get super heated or they could be burnt on plug..... had to chew on tongue not to point out that if you did this then you'd be pretty daft!

We're taking DD to Santaland on Saturday at Earls Court. Am more excited than she is .

OK, sounds as if all hell breaking loose upstairs, better go and rescue DH from DD.

Oh anyone going to watch River Cottage on Channel 4 at 8pm?

Hiya girls - wow this week is flying! DD & DH both hogging the computer of late so have had difficulty posting.

Sorry to hear about the acid problems. I've nothing useful to add I'm afraid (agree with Lyra about the fizzy drinks though - Dandelion & burdock is my remedy of choice)

We've borrowed a playpen to put the baby in out of Millies way and I've got DD's old baby bucket all scrubbed and ready to use as an early bath.

Had a fab birthday yesterday. A girlfriend had invited me round for a coffee & it turned out to be a surprise lunch for me, with 6 other mates there too, quaffing bucks fizz (I just had the bucks) and eating loads of non sugary stuff (they'd even bought diabetic chox!) I felt so special and kept coming over all unnecessary having to scrabble around with tissues & hankies.
To top it all DH had booked me a surprise pedicure in the afternoon so I went to bed on a real high - with pretty toes to boot!

Saw consultants & had a growth scan today because of the diabetes. Was really chuffed as I don't have to go back for 3 weeks unless my sugar creeps higher across the board & the baby is around 4.5lbs and has finally turned head down (think he did it last night as I've felt decidedly John Waynish today & bursting for the loo constantly!). The MW was fab & said everything was so good she didn't think I'd have to go onto insulin if things carried on as they are. All in all an excellent week!! I may even keep the birthing pool until after Christmas just in case they say I can have a home birth.

Glad to see everyone is on their countdown to finish work! (only 2 weeks for me now too!)
Take care all. x

Iris - aww your day sounds great I know what you mean though, I was very emotional my whole last week at work felt like I was leaving old me behind and becoming a new mummy me.

Haven't bathed DD in kitchen sink but we went straight onto the big bath with one of the those blue baby bath things.

Georgie - thanks for asking pelvic pain is really bad TBH worse at night when I sit down or go to bed. Still on the home stretch girls.

Feeling loads of pressure downstairs, think she's headbutting my bladder. Go to the loo then 5 mins I need to go again desperately but when I get there it's a dribble.

Hope everyone has a good night

Feeling really knackered now. Just wrapped some more xmas pressies, and that seems to be enough to wipe me out! Drinking a horlicks in the hope of a good night's sleep (can barely remember one of those!).

Iris

Glad you had a good birthday. Belated birthday wishes from me too. Also really glad to hear your babe is not growing too big despite the diabetes, you must be controlling your sugar really well.

Last day at work for me tomorrow - yippee! Really looking forward to lots of afternoon naps and taking things slowly.

Loomer

glad to hear your baby's turned, hope s/he stays that way - you'll get used to the kicks in the ribs, I have! I know what you mean about the tons of baby equipment, we are trying to keep it to a minimum, but there still seems to be lots.

off to bed now
