Bucketing down here too.

Just left dd2 at the childminder - leaving her there for her nap too today (have been chicken up to now & only did a few hrs each morning last week, then ILs had her while I was working). Dd2 collapsed in tears when I said goodbye, and I know it only lasted a minute when I was out of the door, but it breaks your heart, doesn't it?

Actually fell asleep in the bath last night - bit of a rarity - and had an awful dream about catching dh being rather intimate with a young brunette ! Think I must be feeling a bit old & lumpy!! Anyway, lucky enough to be sure that dh doesn't have the inclination, and even if he did, he never gets the opportunity

Finally going to get the house cleaned up a bit today - never my favourite task, but will feel better when it's done. Anyone else making strange involuntary grunts when they reach to pick things up off the floor??

Tickle · 25/10/2005 08:57

p.s. as a recent arrival to the thread, never really got to know Horseshoe, but am with you hoping that everything is OK...

iris66 · 25/10/2005 09:15

Prepare for better weather girls! - we had rain all yesterday/last night until about 7 this morning & now the clouds are shifting & I can see blue sky between the grey. Shouldn't be long until it reaches you lot further north Not quite so sure about Albania though Chuffed!

Lyra - ds has been sideways or breech premanently until now (clearly too much room to move around!). He moved head down a few days ago & I only know because he tends to scrape/flap with his hands & boot with his feet & he keeps kicking me in the ribs! Am hoping he'll stay that way from here on in (12 weeks to go - wish it was less but, blimey, where has the time gone?!!)
Chuffed - glad you're still having a ball on your travels - we're just sitting on them here!

Oh Tickle I do feel for you with dd at the childminder's. I remember it well even though it was so long ago - give her a couple of weeks & she'll be crying 'cos she's having too much fun to leave!! I just rang the vets btw & got them to put a diffuser by for me (their last one - how lucky is that!) so I'm going off to collect it now. have a good one all x

Morning all, it's actually sunny here today after yesterdays torrential rain.

Had a mad dream about the baby last night I was cuddling her and she was all gooey and newborn but she was identical to DD! I am beginning to think they are twins separated by 18 months as this pregnancy is so identical to DDs. They are even lying in the same position, head down to the right, back along my belly button and bum under my right hand side rib cage, reckon thats why I'm getting all the pain on the right. Left hand side of the bump looks very empty.

DDs MMR went ok she had a little cry but then the toys they gave her distracted her.

lyra41 · 25/10/2005 09:46

Sweetkitty

Glad dd's MMR went well. Hope she stays well.

What a perfect position dd2 is in for you. Lucky you! Glad the rain has gone for you too. You having a quiet day today so you can keep an eye on dd? Maybe your new dd will look identical to dd1. That's the case for a friend of mine, but they are developing very differently now.

Must go and finish tidying now, clean my teeth and prepare work for speech therapy client arriving at 10:30.

sweetkitty · 25/10/2005 09:49

Don't know if she will stay in that position though lyra, I'll probably topple over on the right soon!

I actually hope DD2 will be dark like her Dad as DD1 is fair and blue eyed like me (although has her Dads smile and nose and everything else even feet!) But I'm sure she will be stunning as they all are!

lyra41 · 25/10/2005 11:28

Anyone else's dog very afraid of their birthing ball? Bella seems to find mine very sinister and can't bear to be near it for some reason. I think it's because it rolls by itself sometimes and she can't work out whether it's alive or not.

Just having a quick coffee break before embarking on the cinema. Have packed a cheapskate packed lunch so we don't have to waste money on overpriced crap at the cinema. Even made popcorn myself (with a little help from the microwave). What is it with screens and eating, somehow we feel we have to fill our faces whilst watching don't we?

Rachey1969 · 25/10/2005 11:39

Hi all, rain cleared here at last, am running 2 dehumidifiers day and night to try and dry the plaster as well as a couple of omnious damp patches. Am still feeling poo though. I can't work out how baby is lying, I'm mostly feeling him low down and to both sides but not at the top, I think my placenta is anterior (behind belly button I think, cos bump a bit flat there) which might indicate a posterior baby (again) worst luck.

I think Billy (our lab) would probably just try to hump the ball! He has already destroyed two of our 'indestructible' IKEA bean bags by trying to make babies with them. Must make that vets appointment... We are going to a halloween party on saturday night and taking fireworks with us - hopefully when nov 5th comes, there won't be too many round here.

Well done Chuffed, you should be well proud of yourself!

And hi to Horseshoe whereever you are, we are all thinking of you

iris66 · 25/10/2005 12:15

Ooh I love it when there's lots of us posting

Got the DAP thing from the vets - 25 quid though!!!! hope it works. Was thinking I might also use it for when the baby's born too as apparently it's good for calming them in any new or unnerving situation.
Picked up some egg custard tarts on the way home (know I shouldn't have but am sooo craving and they've certainly added to my jolly mood today) Stuffed 2 with a cup of tea and now feel really guilty - I am eating so much sugar at the mo I'm amazed I've not got thrush!

Sweetkitty - glad dd ok after her MMR . It's such a hard decision to make these days isn't it with all the conflicting reports that have been thrown about.
Funny how you secretly hope for specific genes too. I'm hoping for a dark haired blue eyed one like me(obviously I don't actually mind!) as DH has 2 blonde boys (spit of him) & dd is mid brown with lots of blonde streaks (spit of exDH). I'm the only dark haired one here & I want to see my genes too!! In reality though DS looked the spit of DH in the scan so chances are he'll be blonde (there's always a next time though?! lol)

Millie loves my ball but I think it's because when I'm not on it she squishes between it and the sofa so it makes a nice hidey hole.

DD going to see Wallace & Gromit with BF in a mo so I'm going to tackle my ironing everest. Nanny McPhee looks really good Lyra - let us know what it's like!

OP posts:
sweetkitty · 25/10/2005 14:25

That DAP thing sounds mad, the fireworks never bother the cats much I'm glad to say.

Haven't managed to get a birthing ball yet must put it on the list!

iris66 · 25/10/2005 15:29

I'm just hoping it doesn't add to the slightly less than aromatic pong our darling doggie has already!!

OP posts:
Rachey1969 · 25/10/2005 15:55

Iris - I saw that DAP diffuser on 'This Morning' -the pets priory slot! I wonder if it will help attachment to the new baby? We already have portable air fresheners everywhere to oust eau de Bill.

I would love an egg custard right now! Have to make do with a toffee options (only 40 cals!).

Hoping baby will have dp's 6'5'' physique and my brains! He is dark with hazel eyes but was a blond child. I reckon if we were having a girl we could have made a beautiful supermodel! My dd is the absolute spit of me (as all my family tell me) and ds2 is virtually her twin (same size, same big brown eyes). DS1 is a mini version of his father right down to his mannerisms which unnerve me sometimes! At nearly 12 he has white hair and bright blue eyes (actually my brother's colouring more than his dad but the effect is still spooky).

iris66 · 25/10/2005 16:05

Rachey your DS1 sounds really striking (watch out girls in a few years time eh!!)
When d'you hope to get decorating? can't be long now if you're drying out the plaster - have you decided on colours etc yet?

OP posts:
iris66 · 25/10/2005 16:11

sorry that was a really stupid question - of course you've decided on colours!
(I'll start again) Sooooo what colours are you going to have Rachey?

Nanny McP was great, a real feel good movie, rather mary poppins without the singing and amazing costumes and sets. We went at 11:30am though and it was wierd coming out, always feels like it must be night time when you come out of the cinema.

Spent the afternoon doing v.healthy shopping at the wholefood organic supermarket with my friend and kids, then napping.

Rain continues unabated here. The lawn is sinking.

Cooking homemade chicken soup with lentils and watercress for tea. What about you?

lyra41 · 25/10/2005 18:11

I mean Nanny McP did have amazing costumes and sets.

iris66 · 25/10/2005 18:24

Will have to get Dh to take me to see it now - sounds really good. Have been a lazy bag today (apart from ironing Everest down to Ben Nevis)so having nice easy pasta with a tin of artichokes bunged in (I luuurve artichokes - but then I luurve all food today). It's bubbling gently as I type. (not having take out really Lyra )

OP posts:
iris66 · 25/10/2005 18:25

ps the soup sounds lovely. Is it a Lyra concoction or from a recipe?

Rachey1969 · 25/10/2005 18:25

Ds1 is gorgeous of course, but it is ds2 who is really cute, small for his age (9) with blond hair, enormous brown eyes and a wide mouth - looks like a cartoon character! think he will fill out very nicely when older, all women are in love with him.

I am a little anti-colour with this house, gagging to just put some white paint on virgin smooth plaster.... My last house had a red dining room, terracotta and yellow elsewhere but this one is an old dark house and I like the neutral look with lots of different textures, leather, metal, wood etc. Think we will go for an ivory/antique white mostly. Dd can have one lilac wall I think in the loft. Her old box room is all lilac/purple and as the carpet is too new to change, think new baby will have to put up with it with some light blue walls (as inspired by toy donkey I've bought).

I think we will go for Nanny McP with that recommendation - I feel like some feelgood fantasy!

I'm on my own for tea (sob) having leek n potato soup and a watercress sandwich - natch!

sweetkitty · 26/10/2005 09:38

Morning all, very overcast here expect the rain is on it's way, our lawn is getting into a bit of a state but not going to worry about it until the Spring.

Had bit of a nightmare night with DD last night so very tired today, will try and get some sleep when she goes down for her nap.

iris66 · 26/10/2005 09:48

Hi there - also v tired today. I've been up since 5 mooching around the internet because I couldn't settle & trying to avoid cyberscraps resulting from the loss of my ability to function lucidly! lol
I'm working all this afternoon so I really need to get some rest in. I'm finding that I get all teary & emotional when I'm tired now (it's very frustrating!!) Off to find more toast then back to bed for a bit. Catch u later.

Hi there,

Can anyone enlighten me as to the benefits of birthing balls from their experience? Have seen them in the NCT catalogue and wondered if they're any use or just a gimmic?

Also, what's the deal with storage? Do they deflate for that?

Elly

Jaysfirst · 26/10/2005 14:55

Hi all

just popping in from Dec thread ( although i may well be a Jan Mum, 31 December my due date) I have created a site where we can share pictures of us or babies details below. If when you log in you go to the folder which is your due month you can add any pics. Have only created four sub folders at the mo, but mre can be added. Feel free to pass the details on to other mumsnet users any probs CAT me. Oh and the exercise ball is just very comfy to sit on when you get bigger, it can also help with posture and therefore back ache and i have heard that it aids in turning the baby so its correct way for birth! I have one, they are great, and yes you can delflate then afters!
Take care

Jaysfirst xx

Hi ladies....IM so sorry I have not been in contact for ages...internet has been down....

Well all is great....had more and more scans and baby is fine. I had another scan yesterday and baby so beautiful...Signed off sick permanetly now and so just enjoying the quiet!!! Consultant says that if I'm careful I could go to 34 weeks but they say baby is about 2 and a half pounds now so fairly healthy even though at one point they said she was too small!!!!

They all know me at the hospital now and I had a lovely lady yesterday who said she had heard all about me and that she had been told I had a wonderful attitude to this baby. That was really nice to be told.

Had some early christmas pressies from DP.....He brought me a car and a darling cocker spaniel puppy......

Anyway just logged oon so Im gonna catch up with all the posts and then write back cause i dont want to miss out on what everyone has been doing!!!!!
