Hi sara only rule - no mentioning ironing as we don't like that word - and feel free to tell us all the naughty things you've been eating so we can all become obsessed by them!!!! Grin

Oh - and copy and paste your details to the list on the first page....

I'm due 30th Jan too - although I keep telling baby he's not coming until 1st Feb.

Just watching pointless (which we skyplussed) and am pretty gutted that they've just said it's the last in the series...! Aaargh - talk about ruining mine and my parent's afternoon TV schedule - what will we watch now after Doc Martin??? Shock

gallicgirl · 12/01/2011 17:06

Hello Sara and welcome. Sounds like you're all ready to go :)

Cupcakes Hope I haven't scared you with my tale of panic last night? I think I only got stuck cos my tummy muscles contracted and it hurt to move.

Crystylline · 12/01/2011 17:17

Hi Sara

we're all gathering speed here by the looks of things.

hope all is well zippy and the TENS is soothing.

wish i'd been clothes shopping instead of searching for cheap car parts! mind you, i've found the part and for £40.00 less than the first two quotes I had through. so, it's expensive, but a little less so. who'd have thunked that I could apply my bargain hunting skills to mechanics??!

been badly off food today due to constant, hideous heartburn and earlier sickness.

will try and convince my body to accept some beans on toast soon, as i think i need to eat, despite my stomach's protestations to the contrary.

aw and i had pressies arrive today form my folks. it's so nice to get little baby parcels arriving.

RunningKatie · 12/01/2011 17:19

Welcome Sara - congrats on having a baby due on the 30th, as it's my birthday I'm very honoured you're all trying to have babies on that day. Grin Oh, and we need to know how far you live from a Krispy Kreme's outlet.

Zippy, sounds very exciting, keep us posted. One of the NCT girls has been in labour since 3am yesterday so we're hoping for an announcement soon.

I'm quite fancying a bath but DP has gone to the cinema to see that film about the bloke who saws his own arm off. I said I'd rather stay in and drink raspberry leaf tea and bounce on my birthing ball but I don't want to get stuck so I'll save the bath till tomorrow night!

Has anyone else noticed a change in movements since they've been on mat leave? I'm not sure whether it's because I'm sitting around more that I don't notice being kicked as much. Might monitor them a bit more closely tomorrow just to check.

CupcakesHay · 12/01/2011 18:45

Aah crystylline poor you being off food - i'm constantly starving lately - i'm having gammon and veggies and potatoes tonight -yum! And crappy about car parts! I accidently drove into car space too fast earlier and kind of cracked my number plate Blush oops!

And poor you rock with the whole walking thing - my hip is geting better- but still limping and know what you mean about being painful - to sit still in same place, lie down, etc. Poor you - hopefully will feel better afetr the birth for you though?

Running love the idea of the birthing ball and raspberry leaf tea! Maybe a curry for good measure?

And don't worry gallic I was scared to get stuck in bath before your story as didn't fancy having to call my mum to get me out Blush

My baby's sitting VERY awkwardly today - and i have painful (be warned TMI) constipation! Ugh.

On the plus side - repacked my hospital bag - and so panicked i've gone OTT I posted on childbirth topic to ask MNers opinions.. Blush

What can i expect at my antenatal class tomorrow?

CupcakesHay · 12/01/2011 18:47

Oh - and i agree crystylline lovely to get baby parcels - my friend sent me some of her old baby stuff - nothing major, but all adorable and lovely and really good quality!

And i was naughty and bought pyjamas today - but for age 12-18 months! But in my defence, they were cowboy pyjamas, and i have a thing about cowboys! Well.. and dinosaurs and space type things. That's all the baby will wear until he grows up enough to yell NO at me Grin!

gallicgirl · 12/01/2011 19:00

have you not had any antenatal classes yet?

We did NCT classes which were really comprehensive. I guess you'll go through the different stages of labour and what to expect and talk about pain relief as a minimum.

I love sleepsuits cupcakes and think all children should wear them to bed until they're at least 2 years old :)

Crystylline · 12/01/2011 19:11

tee hee... cupcakes bump has both a penguin and a lion sleep suit with ears. poor child!

gallic my first ante natal class is tomorrow... no space until then. and no NCT classes within 30 miles/1 hour of here, so wasn't going to pay to have to travel that far.

bump has been quiet all day and now fidgetting like a good 'un! blimey, he's a busy lad.

NoLadyButManyBubbasAndBumps · 12/01/2011 19:12

Welcome sara - we're a nice bunch, don't be scared off by all the TMI conversation topics though. You sure you're not 37+3 though, rather than 38+3 if due on 30th?

cupcakes enjoy Hmm the antenatal class - they'll probably go through the whole shove-an-orange-through-a-pelvis-model thing to freak you out, and go through different pain relief. How come it's so late on in your pregnancy?

I'm with you on sleepsuits gallic - love them, love them, love them. Mine stayed in them for yonks even when other babies from my nct/antenatal groups were in 'real' clothes.

NoLadyButManyBubbasAndBumps · 12/01/2011 19:17

Grrrr Angry just phoned my mum to see how her day was (she was going to an exhibition with friends) and she was really childish, saying to my dad who answered the phone "why is she ringing me? does she want to talk to me?" then when she talked to me she was really off as if she was expecting an apology. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

And vent over. thank you for listening :)

CupcakesHay · 12/01/2011 19:45

Angry for you bubba about your mum! really - you have other things to worry about don't you - and you were being nice and calling to see how her day was!

I might live to regret the PJs and wish they were a sleepsuit - but it was the cowboys - i couldn't resist Smile - and yeah crysty my boy'll be dressed in emabarrassing outfits like dinosaurs and lions at any occassion possible!

As for the antenatal - couldn't get any in Sept when I was here and they stopped them for the whole of Dec - so this is the first one available.... and was the same with crysty - nearest NCT was miles away and seemed so expensive. If I lived here, i'd consider it for the "making friends" bit - but not really worth it. plus I have 2 friends who live nearby now - rock and crysty Grin plus my friend gave me her NCT folder so i have all the colours of poo pictures i need!!! Hmm

The only thing i really want to know about is the breathing....

zippy any news?

mimou · 12/01/2011 20:01

Hi AmI. Sorry about the Strep B. I have it too so will also be going for the intravenous antibiotics :( .

As far as I can tell it's one of those things that once you've had it, you've always got it, though it may or may not be active (a bit like coldsores). 1 in 10 of the population has it anyway, and they don't worry about it if they don't know you've got it, but if they do know they advise you to have prophylactic antibiotics to prevent you from passing it to the baby during labour, which happens relatively infrequently, but can be really dangerous if it does happen.

I got it after having DS1 when I had a badly sewn up episiotomy which didn't heal for 5 months Shock. Am a bit annoyed about having to go to the hospital this time, as if it wasn't for that I'd have opted for the midwife led unit, but I reckon better safe than sorry.

Last thing I heard the water was at the end of my sister's garden but not yet in the house. They were hoping to get away with it. Fingers crossed - am waiting for an update when they get up.

I ventured into town to buy fabric this afternoon and feel as though I climbed a mountain. Ridiculously knackered given all I did was drive for 20 minutes and then walk about half a mile!

While I remember here's the list with my update:

I think with the strep B - it's better to be safe than sorry - and even if the IV antibiotics are not nice, better than the alternative. I knew a girl who had a homebirth, didn't realise she had strep B and her little girl died Sad very very sad and I know it's only something like 70 babies a year that die, much better to be safe.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that your poor sister doesn't have to worry abotu the house being flooded too mimou. And don't feel bad about being knackered - apart from running who's still madly active and swimming and stuff (heh heh) most of us are knackeredd at the tiniest walk or drive and have to recuperate by drinking tea and eating chocolate!

NoLadyButManyBubbasAndBumps · 12/01/2011 20:12

bizarre - sent a msg but it's disappeared! hey ho, try again;

excited that we've not heard from zippy for a few hours now! also wondering how florapost is getting on with her little boy!

it's knackering having another child to look after as well as being pregnant, and we're a very sympathetic bunch mimou

CupcakesHay · 12/01/2011 20:17

I still don't know how any of you girls did it with working and children. I am very very very impressed with all of your energy levels - literally running to work or running afetr kids! I got knacked at 6 months giving my cats a cuddle or doing the washing up - and now - well.... i get knackered walking to the car! Grin

saltnvinigarcrips · 12/01/2011 20:18

OMG! Stop what you are doing! 'Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom' is on NOW. So excited - one of my favourite films. Going to enjoy this now and catch up on mn later.
Zippy good luck. Here's hoping it is quick and painless (?)

CupcakesHay · 12/01/2011 20:22

Ha ha salt surfing and watching my lovely! Love this one too - especially shortstuff!

SaraL77 · 12/01/2011 21:03

Oh God, noladybutmanybubbasandbumps you're right, I'm only 37+3! lol! I'm wishing my pregnancy away so much I'm convincing myself I'm further on than I am- sigh- 38+3 sounded much better Grin

thanks for all the welcomes! I have a DS1 who is 22 months, don't know what I'm having this time- here's my update of the list:

talking of being active- I've been crap this time round- was pretty good with DS1 and went swimming once a week plus some pregnancy exercises, with this one I'm knackered (prob something to do with running around after a toddler) and get puffed out just walking up the stairs!

I have also done the strep B test- waiting for results...

CupcakesHay · 12/01/2011 21:24

No wondered you're knackered sara with a 22 month old. Yeah thanks bubba i was thinking the same about the 37/38 thingy - cos i'm due the same date as sara but couldn't be botehred to work it out....

I've just been very active - went for a wee and then made tea for me, coffee for parents and got choocie biscuits... Grin

RockLover · 12/01/2011 21:28

Still in pain with my pubic bone and hobbling about as can't walk very well. However, I have near enough finished packing my hospital bag at last! Just have to i**n my coming home top tomorrow and shove it in the bag. Ooh and my snacks, can't forget to throw them in tomorrow as well.

I have packed some anti-bacterial surface wipes and some hand sanitizer gel that was listed as must haves by some Mums. Although, not keen on the idea of having to clean up bloody baths/showers, but I guess it happens.

I MUST remember to pack some heartburn stuff, because I'm pretty sure that'll last until baby is out. Hmmmm I hope I haven't forgotten anything.

CupcakesHay · 12/01/2011 21:53

Hi rock - sorry about your pain - sounds like it could be SPD... hope it's not for your sake Sad.

I've packed both dettol and sanitiser too. And a sharpie marker - just in case i feel the need to write baby's name on his foot Grin

Just been rowing with my mum about bloody vests for the baby - she's convinced that envelope vests are it... and i have too much stuff. and i hate not being able to buy anything else for baby.... grrr - and it's not her fault - it's my MIL for fostering loads of crap on me that i didn't want - so i can't go out and buy more! grrrr Angry

This is one of those days i wish we were going to have baby and go back to flat with just me, DH and baby - rather than mum and dad's place - nd then having MIL visit and ugh - all of that really.

saltnvinigarcrips · 12/01/2011 22:12

hmm, I know what you mean cupcakes. My mil is flying over to visit us from Feb 4 - which is fine if baby is on time but if I go 2 weeks over it means she'll be here when baby comes home or even when i'm in labour. I wasn't consulted about this so was pretty upset when I found out. Doesn't help that she is supermum and idolised by all so hopefully I won't feel too inadequate. Anyway, I'm sure i'm probably being unreasonable...
On the upside, just had some christmas cake :)

saltnvinigarcrips · 12/01/2011 22:14

oh and katie my bump has been very quiet today which is making me a bit paranoid. I've got into an annoying habit of waking up early and then going back to sleep for 2-3 hours. I'm hoping lo was awake then as it's been unusually quiet but figure it's because i've been horizontal most of the day. It was moving in the bath earlier so i'm sure he/she is fine but how often should it be moving now as I thought as it got bigger and there was less room it did move less anyway ?

CupcakesHay · 12/01/2011 22:15

And Indie was on salt! Grin But yeah - i don't know. Just a bit frustrated. i want to make my own mistakes - IYSWIM. I want to dress baby stupidly and then think - god - won't do that again.... ho hum!

mimou · 12/01/2011 22:20

Phew - just heard from my sister: water is going down and it only got as far as next -door. Thank goodness for that!
