New thread here for those final few weeks (fingers crossed!)

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

hmm i'm a bit sceptical about how good all these creams are for stretch marks. I think your body type is either prone to them or not and while you can do stuff to help it won't prevent you getting them. I don't know. I have 2 little ones on each hip but think I will get more post birth. Will just have to wait and see.

Right, going to sort out the living room/kitchen today. Need to get out of my dressing gown and up.

My mum phoned this morning and said she has a week off work next week, do I want her to come down? I'm thinking not... but feel mean. Have mil arriving on Feb 4 and that is stressing me out. At this rate me and DH won't have any private time with baby in initial days :( Feel like people are trying to take over and my worst character trait is coming out: possessiveness. I'm awful for it! Don't want to be one of those controlling mums that won't let anyone else hold the baby but isn't it natural to feel like that in at least the first couple of days??

Fuzzywood · 20/01/2011 13:01

Well still here, thought something might have been starting yesterday evening but think it was just twinges from cleaning the hob and having to lug a sleepy toddler about. Getting fed up now come on baby Fuzzy (and all the others hanging about).
I too am doing the nightly waddle to the loo on numerous occasions.
Crystylline my stomach muscles severely parted company with each other last time but surprisingly it didn't really hurt. I had to wear a tubey grip bandage from my hips up to my chest for a few weeks (makes you look like the baby weight had fallen off) and wasn't allowed to carry really heavy things. I then had a bit of physio, basically pelvic floor exercises with a few extras and they fixed themselves ok. Saying that I'm fairly sure they've come apart again this time. I'll worry about that once this tardy little one is out!
Debating whether or not I'll make the 10 min walk to the post office or to be really lazy and drive. Weather not great so may drive, though walk may get things moving, decisions decisions....
Have a good afternoon

RockLover · 20/01/2011 13:20

I am also thinking of setting up a bed in the bathroom as I am fed up of walking up and down the slate staircase (our bedroom is a basement room).

Feeling weird today, just woke up from a strange half-sleep nap and now feel all disorientated and funny. Also got a tummy ache and feel mildy nauseous, just feel kind of out of it. I wonder if this means anything in terms of labour starting soon, probably not but I can clutch at straws can't I?

I have asked DP to pick up some raspberry leaf tea from Holland & Barrett on the way home so I can start drinking that to see if it gets things moving. Think I will get some pineapple in too as I can't do hot curry and sex is just not happening for me. Does anyone know if you need a fresh pineapple, or can you have tinned?

RunningKatie · 20/01/2011 13:55

I decant my wee too, I have a special cup in the bathroom for it as those containers are ridiculous to aim at.

Just been out for chocolate cake and I'm shattered now. I am going to fit the mirror onto my car headrest before I allow myself a nap though.

I can't find any pattern to the heartburn at all, last night went to bed feeling fine - had 2 spoons of gaviscon just in case. Woke up at 3am with the awful burning feeling so had another 2 spoons, then at 5am had to have another spoon.

Rock, I think it has to be fresh pineapple.

DP rang his mum last night to tell her about the sweep/induction timetable. Her advice was that he needed to jiggle me about, so that's scheduled in for tonight! Grin

I have stretch marks that radiate out from my tummy button so keep telling myself it looks like a sunshine, which it really doesn't.

NoLadyButManyBubbasAndBumps · 20/01/2011 14:09

Ooh hope so rock for you! Tinned pineapple is fine, but genuinely you owuld need to eat the equivalent of about 4 full pineapples for it to make a difference. Curries are an old wives' tale (I'm an old wife, I should know). I've been having really spicy curries (just cos I fancy them, rather than for baby reasons) for the past two weeks and I'm still big and preggers.

Salt poor you with mum and mil - I had a big go at my DH about this the other night, as I'd told him I didn't want his MIL (sweet but annoying beyond belief when she comes to stay!) to stay here when we have a newborn, which he took to mean a couple of days old Hmm Hmm rather than a few weeks. It's totally normal to want to be possessive, but also if your ILs will be coming over for days at a time then it can be quite suffocating when you're mid-nappies and boobs out and sleep deprived. It's a hard juggling act...

AmIGoingMad · 20/01/2011 14:20

I've developed quite a few strech marks in the last few weeks all right at the bottom of my belly- hopefully they'll stay down there!
Wee decanting sounds like the only way forward! Glad I mentioned it as I've now discovered that its not just me! Smile Apparently it's just me with a lack of common sense Blush
Well , my friends little girl is gorgeous and sooo cute! Made me even more excited! Her health visitor called when I was there (she'd turned up a few hours early) so I didn't stay long but it was nice to meet the health visitor as she'll be ours too! She reckoned I'm having a boy around 7lb 11- but then also joked that now that she's said that it'll be a girl of a totally different weight!
Have also been a bit concerned today as this little one isn't moving around as much as usual. I normally get a right old kicking when I go to bed but last night just a few little ones and not very much throughout the night or today either- have felt some but not the usual Confused Hopefully he'she'll start up again now that I've typed that. Hubby reckons that LO wore itself out the night before last when he/she was going nuts- fingers crossed he's right!

NoLadyButManyBubbasAndBumps · 20/01/2011 14:23

love the idea of it looking like a pretty sunshine runningK :)

NoLadyButManyBubbasAndBumps · 20/01/2011 14:26

and bog off gallic with your one stretchmark!! :o

although I genuinely have had no heartburn in any of these pregnancies - don't know what it feels like >>runs and hides

AmIGoingMad · 20/01/2011 14:28

Oo just remembered- apparently if you're using disposable nappies or if you use wipes at any point then amazon is worth looking at- you might have already thought of this but my lack of common sense means that I hadn't thought of amazon for anything other than books and cds but apparently you can get nappies etc really cheap on there!

NoLadyButManyBubbasAndBumps · 20/01/2011 14:32

Mad my one was a bit quiet today, but I've just stuffed a whole big bag of giant cadbury buttons down me and it's dancing the jig like the true blooded scot that it is!! :)

Fuzzywood · 20/01/2011 15:22

Very glad I drove to the post office as just getting from the car and walking the 50 yards nearly killed me, think it may have moved down a bit as serious amount of pressure low down. Just eaten a mint aero and trying to stop myself eating the wispa and minstrels I also bought.
I'm not thinking about stretch marks as my stomach is a mess, loads of veins and red stuff so goodness knows what it'll look like when this is over.
Mad apparently they slow down a bit just before they arrive so you never know Smile

RockLover · 20/01/2011 16:12

runningk you're so ladylike having spoons of Gaviscon, I just swig it from the bottle so I can get a bigger dose!

Ami, I have noticed that the last few days or so baby has really slowed down his movements. I am still having well over 10 a day, but they are more little wriggles and pokes rather than massive kicks (apart from one exception the other day, don't know what the hell he did, but it HURT).

But if you're worried you could call the mw for advice. I did read that the baby's movements tend to change and become gentler and less regular towards the end of pregnancy due to there being very little space to stretch out in.

I am getting stretchmarks at bellybutton level this time as I am all flabby at the base of the bump, but tighter at the top. With DD all my stretchmarks were at the base of my bump (where I wasn't so flabby before her :(). So now my tummy is nicely covered in the damn things, although I haven't got as many as I did last pregnancy. I really don't bother worrying about them as there's nothing that can be done to make them go away, so I just accept it.

I am jealous of all of you who have loads of choccie, I have none! DP and I finished the chocolate cake last night and I had the last mini donut earlier. Bummer!

Crystylline · 20/01/2011 17:05

hmmm.

going for a walk proved dangerous to my wallet!

new top, bath bombs and excessive amounts of junk snack food ended up coming home with me!

bump is kicking less for me too, much more squirmy motions. when walking around, i felt really heavy too, but at least as he's moved lower, there's less pressure on my lungs so i could breathe!

Am now at home in the warm downing raspeberry leaf tea and eating baklawa!

I too glug from the bottle! what's the point in spoons at this stage??? Grin

thanks for the Amazon tip ami - i wouldn't have thought to look there. wonder if they do eco-friendly disposables? I've got reusables, but want a few packs of disposables that are as kind to the environment as possible. (i feel awful at the thought of adding to the massive amount of nappies in landfills all over the place) Sad

blats Bubba over the head with the antacid bottle for her lack of heartburn

Crystylline · 20/01/2011 17:06

passes rock some green & blacks with sympathy

RockLover · 20/01/2011 17:17

Thanks Crysty. :)

LadyBuzz · 20/01/2011 17:21

i'm home Grin so pleased, DH is being a star and DS2 is alot happier, he even asked for a cuddle earlier and tried to walk off with her - I almost split my stitches laughing Grin

Getting a takeaway to celebrate (Chinese bubba)

I will attempt to put a pic of DD on my profile for you, her skin is a lovely olive colour now and I cannot get over how tiny she is, newborn clothes drown her - i'm not used to little babies!!

Feeling a bit crappy still, i'm anaemic and on iron, on diclofenac & painkillers and DH has to inject me with anti clotting stuff every day Shock nasty! But over the moon to be home and not in as much pain as I thought.

Am off to catch up on posts now

NoLadyButManyBubbasAndBumps · 20/01/2011 17:23

munches gratefully on green & blacks and wonders if this is what gaviscon tastes like

:o

:o

AmIGoingMad · 20/01/2011 17:24

Oo fuzzy that's exciting and scary! I had read that too but over the last few weeks I've probably had more movement than the rest of pregnancy- mmaybe DH's right and baby's worn him/herself out! Thanks for the words of wisdom- I've had a few wiggles and quirms since posting. Going to sit down with some more choc and then some Orange Juice in a bit to concentrate on it.

Been a bit distracted as my lovely nan just came over for an hour. She's still of the mindset that pregnant ladies at this stage shouldn't be alone in the house. I've tried to explain tactfully that I actually like the peace and quite and ability to laze potter about and that if I need her then I can pick up the phone. Think she understands and didn't think I was being evil and I have also said that she's welcome to pop up but that I'm honestly fine. Hope seeing me today puts her mind at ease bless!
Have however just been drinking the raspberry leaf tea whilst sat on my birthing ball!
I really don't know how those of you with little ones cope with pregnancy so well- I find it impossible to get somewhere by a specific time so the school run would be challenging to say the least! Smile
rock you must send DP to get you a steady supply of choc- vital for sanity at the moment! That and cheesy puff crisps left til they go just that little bit soft... Grin

AmIGoingMad · 20/01/2011 17:27

x post!
ladybuzz fab that you're home! And I'm loving your choice of meal for celebration!
bubba you're one brave lady! Grin Grin

NoLadyButManyBubbasAndBumps · 20/01/2011 17:34

Fab that you're home LadyB - sorry you're being jabbed and feeling anaemic and all that crap- chinese will definitely take the pain away. Kung Po?

Mad if you could see my stretch marks, you would see that they far outweigh any heartburn IMHO Wink :o :o (and salt I agree that skin elasticity is as it is, and no amount of bio-oils or other will help if your genes are stretchmark-prone :()

btw, my body actually looks much like skinny young bint from OBEM this week, and my labour will be as easy >>nods furiously to self while dribbling and rocking

Crystylline · 20/01/2011 17:37

LadyB that's such a lovely image. gorgeous children! I bet he'll spoil her rotten

Bubba On the other hand.... ooh! Angry no G&Bs for you! That is unless you share our pain!! Grin

ami your nan sounds very well intentioned and sweet, but i soooo know how you feel. Keep have conversations with my mother along these lines. she'll say, "oh yes, of course you must be nervous of going out alone in case your waters break etc... " Well, I wasn't... but grr!!

and completely agree about how on earth anyone copes pregnant with other kids too! blimey. I barely manage to look after myself daily atm, let alone a child-shaped someone else! maybe, you go mad like Bubba... Wink

CupcakesHay · 20/01/2011 17:45

salt I don?t think there?s anything wrong with telling people to bog off. I can so see where you are coming from wanting to spend time with your new baby. But just speak to your mum and say ?thanks ? but how about next month?? etc. But I can?t talk ? you know my MIL is going to be here weekend after birth, regardless of if I give birth at a weekend or not. In my head, I think a thurs birth will be best ? thurs have baby ? then surely she won?t come down on the sat ? so I can have a whole week with baby, me and DH (oh, and parents, but they?re not mad/nutty like MIL!)

crysty I?m not sure about the stretch mark creams etc, but I love the Palmers one too ? so I just slap that on every night whilst I?m listening to glee with baby. Just realised, maybe DH will ruin my nice little night-time routine!

Not sure I like the idea of the tummy muscles falling apart fuzzy - esp not the heavy lifting thingy.

Ok ? I was naughty Blush and skipped antenatal class this afternoon? had a nap and then sorted some space in bedroom for Dh?s clothes ? and made my dad do another trip to the loft with more junk!

Love the thought of your DP jiggling you tonight running Grin who said romance is dead when you?re 9 months pg???

Poor rock still feeling ill. But it?ll be lovely when your DS is here and you can feel all sprightly again.

Sure baby?s fine AmI - but is there anything you know makes it kick lots ? like I know playing music through belly button makes mine go mad - but some people say having showers helps baby kick, etc. If you are worrying though speak to M/W ? didn?t someone on here have same thing and called M/W and after putting phone down baby went nuts??? Grin You know, the whole ?typical? thing!

I have loads of chocolate ? thank god ? we have a choc orange, half a choc swiss roll, a choc santa, 3 thornton choc bars, 3 skeleton lollipops and a big bag of Cadburys buttons?. As well as a lemon swiss roll. And if I get desperate ? there?s always the snacks in the hospital bag Hmm ? naughty me! Must forget about them! Am I making you Envy rock Wink?

(by the way ? I?m taking notes and just refreshed page and there?s another 6 posts. ARGH!)

buzz pleased you are home ? and love you DS2 trying to take baby ? how cute. And more to the point love the Chinese take away. mmmmm?.

Well ? now my above advice is redundant AmI - but my thought was there ? so I?m leaving it there! And bless about your nan. Sweet but annoying. And then you feel guilty!

crysty I agree about the other kids ? but I admired everyone so much bloody working! I was exhausted and I have no kids, mum & dad cooking for me, and wasn?t working! You lot deserve medals.

I?m also wondering how giant my boobs have got. I was telling DH on phone that I think they?re massive and bump will be huge ? given that he hasn?t seen me for 10 weeks?.. not going to tell you his reply Blush! Aaah ? maybe romance isn?t dead!

A week today and I?ll be having curry or Chinese! Can?t decide?. Want both! Maybe go for Chinese for lunch?...and maybe curry for dinner ? or is that too ?greedy?decadent? Grin

God ? right - pootle will be proud of my massive note taking. ? going to post now without refreshing otherwise we?ll end up with a 1000 word essay!

NoLadyButManyBubbasAndBumps · 20/01/2011 17:45

I was merely wondering out loud if gaviscon tasted like G&Bs. Obviously no hurt intended sniggers in an ever-so-slightly loony way :o

Right, those small child-shaped ones are demanding food. Apparently you have to feed them you know nods sagely at her own wise words

LadyBuzz · 20/01/2011 17:48

bubba beef fried rice, chips curry sauce and prawn crackers mmmmmmmm!

AND no heartburn with it - It really does go when the baby is out Smile

The photo uploaded keeps crashing my tiniternet so I shall try again tomorrow to show off my lovely girl!

running I also made the executive decision not to wash my legs today - I can't reach, good decision Grin

CupcakesHay · 20/01/2011 17:52

Oooh ladybuzz chinese sounds lovely - and yes, let's do picture tomorrow (please!) I'll keep fingers crossed for internet - dying to see the strawberry blonde Kali!
