Clarkiee hope you're OK - what worrying comments - keeping my fingers crossed that your next scan has a much more positive story ((()))

gdmts1981 · 14/01/2011 00:53

Fingers crossed Clarkiee - try and relax as much as possible before your scan next week - sending you positive vibes!

I had an extremely itchy scalp (i thought i was going to scratch my hair out) for about 3 weeks in the 1st tri but it's now fine.

In fact if I got rid of my back pain I would be symptom free at this point - Grr - notwithstanding my bump that is :)

knackered76 · 14/01/2011 10:51

Clarkiee so sorry you've not had great news :( Fingers crossed for the next scan and your girls. Thinking of you and sending big virtual hugs and a soft pillow to cry in to.

bananarama05 · 14/01/2011 12:41

Clarkiee will keep everything crossed for you and enjoy your few days. Keep us updated when you feel up to it :)

moomin I cut/painted my toenails last week and contemplated the fact it's probably the last time I'll be able to do it in a while. Same on the bikini wax front. I don't fancy asking DP to help with either, I'd only end up with my entire feet a lovely shade of pink/red/whatever nail varnish I fancied that week! So looks like I'll be booking in for a pedicure/wax in the next month or so too.

Hi Swanny always good to see a new face :)

gdmts if I can finally shift this bloody cold I'll be well on the way to feeling pretty damn good too! I woke up VERY late this morning and it wasn't til I got in the shower and noticed the bump I even remembered I was pg which is strange for me so I must be feeling a bit better.

I'm sure there was more I was going to catch up on but baby brain has stolen all my thoughts again today...Very quiet round these parts though as moomin said, is everyone ok? Confused

cameli · 14/01/2011 14:10

Hi everyone.

Just checking in as I have 5 minutes spare at work. I had my anomaly scan on Wednesday but have to go back in 2 weeks so they can recheck the heart, lips & placents again.
Despite drinking over 1 pint of fluids an hour before the scan i hardly had any fluid in my bladder so i was sent away and told to drink another pint and return in 30 mins which i did.
My bladder STILL had hardly any fluid in it! The sonographer said i must be seriously dehydrated and the fluid had gone to my tissues. I must admit i dont drink very much usually but never had. Will make more of an effort now.

Good luck with your next scan Clarkiee.

Thank goodness it's the weekend - i am hoping to clear out my clothes so i have somewhere to put all the new baby clothes i am going to buy :)

swannny · 14/01/2011 14:45

Thanks bananarama05

So where is everyone from then? x

NoMoreChocBiscuits · 14/01/2011 15:10

Swanny I live in Scotland, though am not British (DH is though).

I'm going out tonight for dinner, which I'm looking forwards to, but think I'm going to be yawning my head off all night. Those of you who have to work have my utter sympathy. Don't know how I'd cope being so tired and having to work.

Oh it's lagging down with rain here. It's good though, melting the ice and washing all the crap away.

cameli · 14/01/2011 15:14

I'm from West Yorkshire Swanny :)

jbells · 14/01/2011 15:22

sasamaxx · 14/01/2011 15:56

swanny I'm in Scotland - south lanarkshire Smile. I'm originally from Glasgow but now live in a small town.

swannny · 14/01/2011 16:02

All Northern Mummies then :) (to me at least! I'm in London)

I visit Scotland most months to see my step son though, he's between Kilmarnock and Ayr :)

moomin156 · 14/01/2011 17:27

Evening all, hope everyone has had a lovely day.
swanny im west midlands / worcestershire border.
Looking forward to a weekend with no plans.....

misshoohaa · 14/01/2011 17:28

Chichester - the Sussex one!

Hope you're OK clarkiee, fingers crossed that things will turn out OK for you and your bubbas.

Have a great weekend everyone, I'm still hunting for a bugaboo chameleon. Some of the 2nd hand pries are just too much. £400 with no guarantee? I think I'd rather shell out the other £300 and get a warranty.

moomin156 · 14/01/2011 17:40

My mom has started knitting, how fantasticis that. So pleased, she last knitted 10 years ago when my neice was born but she has been out and bought some white wool and new patterns. I love hand knitted baby clothes Grin

Clarkiee · 14/01/2011 18:09

Hey everyone thank you sooo much for your kind messages!

The mid wife rang today to say she had spoken to Manchester hospital and they said that there is nothing to concern them, that its normal for the placenta to have not finished developing this early!!!! Grin and that they are smallish but they have grown. My clinc have even cancelled next weeks scan because I don't need it!

So happy- what a difference a day makes. Bloody consultant not quite sure he knows what hes on about and his people skills are crap.

Sorry I wrote such a miserable message Sad I also went in to see my boss and told her all the bad news, only to go back with good news a few hours later- ha

Got a viewer for the house too, they put an offer in last year before I knew I was pregnant and we rejected it (but got the agent to ring them back to say they could have it for that price). Fingers crossed.

Bit of a roller coaster ride but feeling much more positive.

p.s. hope everyone is okay xx

jasmine51 · 14/01/2011 18:12

swanny Oxfordshire but often in London (like today) for work.

Oh gawd, I walked past a JojoMaman Bebe shop today...only I didn't just walk past! Hide the credit card statement time.

moomin156 · 14/01/2011 18:15

Clarkie thats excellent news, i am so pleased for you

knackered76 · 14/01/2011 18:32

Clarkiee - Hooray Grin! Amazing the different advice and information you get from people who clearly know and people who think they do but don't really Confused. Those people shouldn't be allowed to talk!

Swanny Just outside London in Herts.

Jasmine Grin so much more temptation coming your way! Just wait until you're on maternity and you have all the time during the day to shop :)

Misshoohaa Luckily my friend kept hold of her bugaboo and is donating it to us. It's a 6 yr old model but as it's free I care not! I did spend some time looking at second hand ones and you're right about the prices, bloody ridiculous Shock. I wish you luck in your quest!

Cameli - Glad the scan went well, despite the fluid issue! I never realised they checked the lips!!!! Shows how much I paid attention in my last 2 pregnancies :)

Putting my shoes on has already become comical as I am the size of a small caravan. Oh well, only 20 more weeks and a whole pile of growing to do Grin

Have lovely weekends. We're fairly busy and then scan on Monday which I am looking forward to/dreading!

takethatlady · 14/01/2011 18:46

swanny I live in Cambridge, but we're trying to move to Norwich (where I work) despite the fact we're in £25k of negative equity :(

Woohoo clarkiee that's great! What a stupid consultant Angry - some people just have no tact. Congrats on the viewing on your house too - these people must really want it if they haven't found anything else in a year.

I am so jealous of all you ladies getting Bugaboo Chameleons. I saw the cream-coloured one in Mothercare the other day and it is so gorgeous. Out of our price range though. I am looking at the Silver Cross Surf which is still bloody expensive (and probably too much) but at £350ish it's still half the price. Plus it will fit in our stupidly small car boot. This is my argument, anyway :)

What did you buy jasmine?

I'm off out to celebrate having been with DH for 12 years (on Monday). We were 16 then, so I'm feeling like an old granny today Confused

Also, my bump is out! Totally out! And I bought scales because I was worried I hadn't put on weight (according to my dad's scales at Christmas) and I have actually put on 5lbs, which I know isn't that much but it does put me back in the normal range. Whoop whoop :)

takethatlady · 14/01/2011 18:47

Just realised it looks like I'm not enjoying the fact I've been with DH for 12 years ... I am! He's lovely Smile

8rubberduckies · 14/01/2011 20:53

Clarkiee glad to hear you've had better news! Grin.

Swanny I am also down south, in Bristol, I know there is someone in Bath (Sarahmumtobe if I remember rightly), but not sure if there is anyone else in the South West.

Congratulations ttl on your anniversary! Me and dp have been together 3 yrs 4 months and have a 2 yrs 5 months old ds... yep, do the maths, it was really that quick!!!

We sat down and had a good chat about what will happen if I'm made redundant last night, and worked out we should just about be able to stay in our home and afford our very basic outgoings, as long as I go back to work when the baby is six months old, earning roughly what I earn now. This could be a tall order, as there probably won't be many jobs about I have the relevant experience to earn how much I do at the moment, so I will probably be applying for lower-paid jobs. It gives us some breathing space though and means I have a few months before having to start jobhunting in October / November ready to start after Christmas.

Also found out today that if you are unemployed you have to start claiming your statutory maternity pay 11 weeks before your due date! Nuts!

Baba is butterfly-kicking like crazy, it's such a lovely feeling! Grin

sasamaxx · 14/01/2011 21:21

Oh that's great Clarkiee - you must be feeling very relieved Smile

lol @ knackered being the size of a small caravan Grin

Congrats TTL - 12 years - impressive!

8rubberduckies - sounds good that you've worked out how to make things balance in your worst case scenario - it may well not come to this though Smile

Loving all the pram talk - I have an old bugaboo frog that I keep in the car. It's great - so lightweight and nippy round the shops. I use a mountain buggy at home though as it is indestructible and takes all the abuse in good sport Grin

Sarahmumtobe · 14/01/2011 21:37

So glad clarkiee that's great news!
swanny we are now living in Frome in Somerset although visit my parents in Epsom quite frequently.

Sorry everyone a bit of a me me post, but have worried myself a bit. My last case this afternoon was a dog that I was quite concerned about, and took blood from. A lot of her signs are consistent with leptospirosis. Because of baby brain it didn't occur to me the risk of me contracting this from the dog, and it can cause abortion in humans. I rang the midwife but she didn't know about it so I'm waiting to hear back from the registrar. Humans can take antibiotics if there's a risk of exposure but being the weekend it's hard to contact doctors :-( Hopefully I'm worrying about nothing but I hate that I may be putting my baby at risk.

Mummynumber2 · 14/01/2011 21:40

clarkiee What a rollercoaster for you. And what a crap consultant, even if he suspected there may be a problem it sounds like he needs to work on bedside manor! I'm so glad everything if ok now. [grin

I have a question for you all. I have a proper bump now but I'm mainly feeling movement below it. Is that normal? If so, why do I have a bump?!

Mummynumber2 · 14/01/2011 21:45

Sarahmumtobe I don't know anything about leptospirosis I'm afraid but I really hope the registra gets back to you soon. If you don't hear back maybe NHS direct might be able to help. Hope everything's ok.
