Lisascat I am suffering so badly with itching! It is mostly on my back and arms, but I have had it just on my scalp a couple of times. It is driving me NUTS!!!!!!! I actually had an itchy inside of my eyelid earlier! In fact, talking about itchy scalps, it's starting up now.... Confused.

Mainlymainie good to see you back again, sadly, I don't work for the council, so will just get SMP.

Sorry to hear you're having work problems too mrswantstobeamum, it's a crap time to be worrying about work stuff.

Right, I'm off for a big scratching session Smile.

8rubberduckies · 12/01/2011 21:14

How bizarre, I change the last sentence and it posts both versions Confused.

moomin156 · 12/01/2011 21:18

i found extra moisturising of the skin helped my itching, more that twice per day if needed. it has settled now but at one point i could have cried with frustration. The midwife took bloods to see if anything up but thankfully all good. She did say i could see GP and have an antihistamine if it didnt settle but thankully it did

sasamaxx · 12/01/2011 22:28

Lisascat I ALWAYS get dry, itchy scalp when pregnant - often accompanied by dandruff - nice!

KaraStarbuckThrace · 12/01/2011 22:32

Lisa - I have an itchy rash on the inside my arms which i think is contact dermititus, i wonder if your skin is more sensitive in pregnancy?

jasmine51 · 13/01/2011 09:28

I thought I had chicken pox as I didnt just have an itchy rash I had itchy spots. Was advised to wear natural fibres, change washing powder to non bio and use a simple moisturiser like E45. Seems to have cleared up now...except for my appendix scar area which itches like mad, presumably as it stretches.

Oxfordshire Mums - have you found the baby warehouse at Mongewell? amazing...why is this not advertised more? Defo a place to cane the credit card!

Just off to see new GP, bit scared, hope this one actually has some compassion and understanding of even the basics of pg!

Have a good day x

LisasCat · 13/01/2011 09:54

Oooh yes, baby warehouse, goooooood! Got the car seat from there last time, about £30 cheaper than anywhere else. And they're so helpful, and knowledgable. The only downside is getting there during their opening times (oh, and finding it the first time you go there...and getting round that sharp hairpin bend and down the steep slope...they actually don't make it very easy, do they?!?).

Anyway, itchy scalp is calmer now, probably because you've all reassured me that it's probably not nits, so that paranoia has gone, and it's easier to ignore the itching when I'm not also desperately trying to catch one of those disgusting critters in the act.

Moog72 · 13/01/2011 10:20

I have an itchy head too, and given my daughter has had nits recently I keep thinking it's that but can never find any... so maybe it is pg related!

I have a quetsion ladies, I have pain low down in my tummy which feels like period pain - any idea what this might be? Ligament pain?

moomin156 · 13/01/2011 10:30

Is anyone else finding some little everyday tasks more difficult already........drying feet out of the shower, cutting toenails?? i only have a little bump and its quite difficult!

jasmine51 · 13/01/2011 11:05

Moog yes for the past few days I've had quite alot of this. Bump is noticably harder too so maybe its a growth spurt. Am getting stabbing pains in groin every now and again but cramps...yes..very present

moomin I am having this problem. I asked my MW what single parents do about cutting their toenails around the bump (ie people that have noone around to do it for them) I was expecting there to be some help service but she said I would have to book in for a pedicure...what every couple of weeks? if anyone else has any cheaper suggestions here let us know.

I also noticed I had a problem getting up off the floor when I was drying my hair today.

Hi Ladies

I was recommended to check out this thread.

I'm Leila, I'm 18 weeks gone with my 1st. I live near Wimbledon.

xx

LisasCat · 13/01/2011 12:21

Hey Swannny/Leila, if you're near Wimbledon Common or the park to take bub, I'm very jealous - my nan lived next door to the park so I spent much of my childhood sailing in the park or up on the common, building dens in the woods (long before the murder of Rachel Nickel made it a bad idea to let a young child run off into the trees alone and trust them to find their way back to the windmill cafe a few hours later).

Moog I had quite a lot of pain around the bottom of bump last week - not like period cramps which for me tend to be shooting pains but serious deep muscle ache, which felt like I was carrying a lead weight, instead of a 10cm long foetus. Midwife told me I've got to stop carrying DD (no matter how much she whines), because it's probably the stress on my stomach muscles while they're so vulnerable. DD is not impressed. First black mark against the baby's name!

Hi all, I have also been extremely itchy-the main places being my scalp (I also got DH to check for nits), and my back particularly around a small tattoo that I have had for years and had no problem with.

Welcome swanny I'm 18 +2 with my first baby too. I'm originally from Epsom and my parents still live there,

Ah well, back to work. Roll on maternity leave-it seems so far away!

takethatlady · 13/01/2011 14:44

Leila you're not my best-friend-from-school Leila who also lives in that part of London and knows I'm pregnant but has definitely not told me that you are pregnant, are you??!!

If so, when we meet up next Saturday I am going to be watching your alcohol consumption like a hawk Grin

jasmine51 · 13/01/2011 14:52

Off to the 'Baby Warehouse' for a nose...leaving credit card behind!

swannny · 13/01/2011 15:09

LisasCat - I don't live too far actually :)

Sarahmumtobe - Awesome :) Where do you live now?

takethatlady - No I don't think so, but I like your name and am sincerely hoping baby comes on time so I can make the concert in July haha xx

motherofsnortpigs · 13/01/2011 17:14

jasmine I probably drove part you as I was doing the school run in South Stoke this afternoon. You'll have to pop in for coffee next time :) Not going to get to aquanatal for a few weeks, but be warned, I have shunned swimming costumes in favour of a bikini! I'm trying desperately to sustain myself. Blood sugar's all over the place even if I eat wholemeal and high protein all day I still feel sicky and headachey and a bit shaky and faint. Nice. I need to stop weaving the lentils and start eating them...

takethatlady · 13/01/2011 17:56

Oh swanny you're not her if you're going to Take That! I had to sell my tickets as they were for six days after my due date :(

jasmine51 · 13/01/2011 18:10

mother 4x4? demonic look on drivers face..."get out of my way I need to be in a warehouse of wonderful baby stuff"?...yup that was me! Great fun, love people at the Baby Store - warming the DH up for a visit there with primed credit card!
I have every sympathy re blood sugar thing - yesterday I went to long business lunch..made sure I was hungry beforehand and flippin food was really nouveau. I nearly ate the table...and the waitress...

Clarkiee · 13/01/2011 21:22

Hello,
Had another scan today. Consultant said he didn't think they had started with the twin twin transfusion thing- which is great.

But he did say that they are both smaller than they should be and that one part of my placenta isn't working properly! He said the placenta is still not fully developed so it could sort itself out. He also said I might have to have babies earlier and that babies born at 24 weeks have a 25% chance of survival and babies born at 28 weeks have a 90% chance of survival!!!

He's passing my results onto Manchester hospital again incase they want to look at me. I said is there anything I can do and he said 'cross your fingers!!'

Very worried again and had a big cry tonight. I've told my best mate at work and going to tell my boss but no-one else because I work with so many lovely people who they will be asking me lots of questions if I tell them but I'd rather not talk about it.

Going to try and do some none related baby stuff for a few days. Hopefully I'll be feeling more positive after my next scan next week Wink. Take care everyone- speak soon xxx

8rubberduckies · 13/01/2011 21:29

Oh Clarkiee that is such horrible news and can't imagine how tough it is for you taking that in. Thinking of you and your babies. We are here if you need a rant or a virtual shoulder to cry on xx

Evening everyone.....a quiet lot today, home from work and only had a few posts to read :(

Clarkie thinking of you, there is always so many 'ifs, buts and maybes' isnt there that just make it all so stressful.

jasmine51 · 13/01/2011 21:40

Clarkie - thinking of you...and I do know some very healthy 2 year old twins that were born at 24 weeks. Cant say it was a stress free time, but they pulled through. Finger crossed, take it easy xx
