bananarama05 · 06/01/2011 19:28

just marking my place so I can find you all again later!

moved my maternity leave back today but have wangled 5 days holiday spread out so that with the bank holidays as well I don't work more than a 4 day week after the end of March, much to my delight :)

misshooha my hairy bump paranoia is a great source of amusement to DP!

jingle liverpools a bit far so will have to give it a miss but thanks for the offer!

Thanks for the new thread neen and hope you enjoy the show tonight.

TTL keeping everything crossed for you. x

jasmine I'm 19 weeks on Saturday and haven't had a 20 week scan date through yet. My mum works at the hospital and had a sneaky look on the system yesterday and it's def not been booked in yet. I was going to leave it as they got so crappy with me for chasing it up last time and only booked it in a week before hand but think i might give them a ring after what a few of you have said Confused

Wow we talk a LOT, sorry if I've missed anyone out, just had a quick skim through of today/yesterday, blimey it's been busy!

NurseSnowflake · 06/01/2011 19:28

Clarkiee You must be really worried and upset but I'm sure your little girls (eeeek GIRLS!!!) will be fine. I'm pretty sure most twins are born with one being slightly bigger than the other, aren't they? Do try not to worry, just take it easy and think positively until you have a cast iron reason to think otherwise.
I hope you haven't been off buying a zillion tiny blue things by the way Grin

Misshoohaa I had the (combined flu and swine flu) jab on monday. Normally I wouldn't bother (fit and healthy with no underlying health problems) and actually I'm not that bothered about getting 'flu as I've never had it before, only colds, and if I did I would just take to my bed and pop paracetamol until I felt better! However swine flu is actually quite a serious illness, for anyone, but especially pregnant women. So after umming and ahhing and declaring firmly that I'd decided NOT to have it I finally bit the bullet and went and got it! Some people experience aching arms and slight flu like symptoms but I was fine. Didn't even hurt! I wasn't massively happy about having it but I do feel as though I did the right thing. Obviously, only you can decide what's right for you. (Sorry for the thesis!)

Hope you're alright TTL, I'm slightly jealous of your slanket, not to mention your being waited on :) However I believe you have forgotten the hot cocoa that you clearly require at this time. Y'know, for er, calcium for the baby.

bananarama05 · 06/01/2011 19:32

monica my mw didn't mention the flu jab until i asked about it at my 17 wk appt and she went "oh yes i'm meant to recommend you get that, thanks for reminding me"!

I am also the proud owner of a slanket courtesy of my mum who told me everytime she comes round i'm on the sofa, good to know she has a high opinion of me!

NurseSnowflake · 06/01/2011 19:34

Oh, I forgot to mention, I also seem to be growing a hairy bump Sad It started off with one long black hair (I'm blond so it was most irregular Confused ) and there seem to be a couple more little friends joining it now so I can only assume that I will end up looking like a gorilla if it carries on at this rate. Do you think it's dangerous to put hair removal cream on your bump? Would the baby be born bald?! Grin

And, oh horror of horrors, I have thrush Blush Sad Never had it before. They don't mention that on the list of 50 reasons to be glad you're preggers do they??!!

Clarkiee · 06/01/2011 20:37

Thanks ladies Grin you're right nurse I'm going to try not to worry about it as there is nothing I can do and as you say nothing cast iron as yet.

Hairy bumps sound like they are quite common (I have one too) doesn't make them any nicer though Wink after having the paper towel tucked in very low this morning it also reminded me that the lady garden could do with a trim Blush (ha ha tmi sorry girls)!

Quick question - I had my 12wk scan the same day as a friend and she had her results come through the post on 30th December, I'm still waiting, surely if it was bad news they'd ring??

I had a bit of a panic just now with my laptop! Turns out it has a 'touchpad disable' button and my DS found it earlier! I was reading loads of forums on my iphone on how to fix it but nothing was working so I just pressed every key on the laptop one by one and voila!!

GoodVibrations · 06/01/2011 21:53

Jasmine I don?t understand your blood results I?m afraid but if you have doubts about the midwife advice you could ring Tommy?s midwives. I?ve called them a few times in the past and they are really helpful. I also have the M&P leggings ? they are sooooo comfy, have already worn them with everything!!!

TTL Glad you are feeling reassured, but I do hope the bleeding stops soon so you can stop worrying

CEP if you?re still reading, thanks for stopping by! You must pop back when you get a BFP!

misshoo I?ve had the flu jab

clarkie how scary for you. Glad they are keeping a close eye on you. By the way I?m in Manchester too :)

jingle I had a 4D scan last time, but DD was in the worst position ? face pressed into my groin. We got some lovely photos of her feet!

On the ?hairy? topic, I was really hairy last time. I remember getting stressed later in the pg as I couldn?t reach my bikini line to shave and felt like a yeti. In fact it made me cry!. I couldn?t get a wax as I have v sensitive skin when pg and just bruise. This time though I have the opposite, no hair at all!!! It?s really bizarre. I haven?t shaved my legs since the 23rd Dec and there is still no hair :)

KaraStarbuckThrace · 06/01/2011 22:21

Just marking my place.

Good luck to all of you considering house moves! We're in the same position as TTL, would like to move closer to DH's work in Sheffield but can't as we are in negative equity :(

Nurse - is it a linea negra you have? That is a sign you are having a boy!

Clarkiee - fingers crossed your next scan will give you more reassurance about your twins.

TTL - Sorry you are concerned about the bleeds, apparently it is common, but get it checked out anyway - for your peace of mind if anything.

Needmorechoc - hope your FIL is ok :(

bananarama05 · 06/01/2011 22:25

goodvibrations I want your genes! I just got in the bath with great intentions of re-acquainting my legs with the razor for the first time in a couple of weeks. DP then decided he was getting in after me so had to give it a miss.

clarkie I think I'm going to have to give professional waxing a go, lady GARDEN is an understatement at the moment. I think forest is nearer the truth Shock, sory tmi!

I got an email from mamas and papas today to say they're doing free delivery on maternity clothing. Just had a look and it seems to be sale and new season stuff only though which doesn't include the leggings. They look amazing though so may well make it onto the pay day shopping list tomorrow anyway! :)

Merlion · 07/01/2011 03:26

Thanks for the new thread - my stats appear to have disappeared so will add them again. Are we going to add boy/girl as we find out?

TTL sorry but what on earth is a slanket?

Clarkiee well done on bringing up the balance a bit for the girls! A friend of mine had twins in July last year and at one point one was much bigger than the other but they evened themselves out in the end and were pretty much the same weight at birth. Here's hoping it's the same for you.

crumbletastic · 07/01/2011 08:03

yay, I think I'm feeling movements. Every now and then I feel a bump from the in side but if I concentrate too hard on it my whole body shakes and I'm not sure if its not wind or something but it is getting more consistent now. Puts my mind at rest a bit as I was a little scared whether things were okay after i had swine flu and was hospitalised.

LisasCat · 07/01/2011 09:43

Supersunny I thought my sickness was over, having had a couple of weeks feeling pretty good. Then on Tuesday it came back with a vengance. I almost passed out at work and have been having really bad waves of feeling (but not actually being) sick on and off the last couple of days.

S'not fair - I thought I was done with that bit!

motherofsnortpigs · 07/01/2011 10:16

nomore Is there space in the playpen for one more? DS has learnt how to climb the stairs... sasamaxx we've got the measure of you - washable nappies, baby slings and now lentil soup Hmm :) Been stewing for a few days about comments on medical interventions/pain relief/homebirth I'm am earthmother at heart and having had ptsd after horrid first birth would say that it matters hugely to me how I bring this baby into the world. Big wave to lisascat and jasmine. Oxfordshire is obviously the place to be. jasmine have you got the energy to phone the JR everyday? They get cancellations and have to fit in emergencies. If you're with silverstar I'd pester them. If the recommendation is for a 20 week anomaly scan, they will surely fit you in. Don't give up or back down! How were you supposed to know that their system is that you book your 20 week scan at your 12 week scan when you were chased out the door?

motherofsnortpigs · 07/01/2011 10:25

Stupid phone - sorry

jasmine51 · 07/01/2011 11:28

mother thats a good idea, might do that. I did try and book my scan at my 12 wk apt...they just took my form and said they would be in touch grrr.
You in Oxon too? we could potentially all be at the JR at the same time...well, waiting on trolleys in the carpark anyway!

clarkiee talking with a friend of mine who is in her 60s - she had twins but didnt know until she had delivered one and the nurses did a 'quick check to see if theres anything else in there'! Can you imagine the shock!

TTL has your bleeding stopped now?

VERY disturbed by the profusion of slankets in our thread!

NoMoreChocBiscuits · 07/01/2011 11:59

Working my way down the page. Honest Grin

Sasa I'd love to make soup from scratch (have a chook in the freezer, just waiting), but alas I know I'd just throw up. (that and lentil soup gives me wind Blush)

Oh god, speaking of wind just had some as I was typing. OW ow ow. wind trapped behind a little baby is very painful. SadBlush

SnortPigs sling him in, it is after all a magic MN playpen where they can never escape and they never complain Grin Dreams are free.

Kara Thanks for asking about my FIL. He's still in hospital in the HDU, they don't think it's meningitus, but still no word on what it actually is. He has a prob with his neck that makes even a cold painful, so he's doped up on morphine at the minute. As such I'm still holding off on the flu jab and trying to up my fruit and veg intake.

neenewps · 07/01/2011 12:00

ttl glad to hear that the bleeding has subsided. How are you feeling today? Better I hope.

jasmine I too am also disturbed by slankets in the thread. I seriously thought that they were one of those things that never sold on QVC :o

Thanks for all your support on the moving thing. It's nice to hear that we aren't the only ones in this predicament. I'm hoping that the next place we find we manage to stay in it for more than 5 minutes!!

Just had my 16week MW appt! Got really emotional when I heard the heartbeat. The MW didn't know whether she would be able to find it straight away but put the listener thing on me and bingo there it was. Wow the heartbeat is really fast :) Felt really reassured and she said that it was a really good strong heartbeat :o

MW also told me I am Rhesus negative. Anyone else Rhesus negative or was in the past? I have just looked it up in my book to see what it means and I can see that it is anything to worry about. Other than that all was well so I feel really lucky.

Haven't had my 20 week scan through yet. I think it's very poor, ladies in Oxford, that you possibly won't get a 20 week scan? Why does NHS care differ so differently between each health care trust. We don't get a nuchal fold scan here - if we want it we have to pay for it privately.

Hope you are all well today. Sorry to those who are still suffering from MS :(

OP posts:
NoMoreChocBiscuits · 07/01/2011 12:04

Kara just realised you've misnamed/renamed me! Needmorechoch? That is one thing I do not need more of!!

Jasmine no slanket here. Just a well used duvet that lives behind on the couch.

LisasCat · 07/01/2011 12:52

jasmine if all goes well I won't bump into you ladies on a trolley in the car park on delivery day, because I'm hoping to go to the Wallingford MLU. Last time the monkey was 2 weeks late, so I had to go in to the JR to be induced, but hoping #2 turns up roughly on time so I can pop up the road to those nice midwives.

neenewps I'm Rh neg. It's not a problem in pregnancy as long as they know and can give you the necessary injections. But it does mean you're an invaluable blood donor. Ours is a rare type but the only one that can be given to any recipient regardless of their own type, so the NHS bloody love us.

8rubberduckies · 07/01/2011 12:53

WTF is a Slanket? Well, now I know, thanks to Google. When I was a student me and a friend came up with the idea of making a duvet suit, with it's own pocket for the TV remote control and other "necessary" paraphenalia for a night in Grin. Looks like someone stole our idea but made it out of fleece instead.

79monica · 07/01/2011 13:37

No slanket here but we do have a "lounge duvet" that stays on the sofa all winter. Merlion - I'm not surprised that you haven't heard of slankets, I was in Singapore for part of our honeymoon in August and I don't think that you would ever need one there!

LisasCat · 07/01/2011 13:53

I've just been outed! Well, technically I outed myself. I read a post in which there were a whole load of details scarily similar to my cousin, so I just asked, is it you? And it is!

(Quickly thinking back over everything I've ever said about my family on MN...... have bitched about my mother a lot. Oh well, anyone who's met her normally agrees after a couple of minutes!)

8rubberduckies · 07/01/2011 14:01

I know someone who uses loads of Mnet acronyms on Facebook, and always wonder if she is on it too, but don't know her well enough to ask.... My partner bloody outed me to two of his team in work who are on here... good job I have always namechanged when slagging him off discussing relationship issues!
