Knees hurt for a while cos boney.I never wash new stuff either but keep it quiet as nans and mums seem to think its essential. My nan was horrified i dont "air" stuff even tho it comes out of the drier Confused

PDR · 15/01/2011 10:51

ledkr foot was back to normal this morning but do you still think I should call the doc? Or see what happens tonight?

I have given up washing baby stuff and have sent everything to the launderette in a giant ikea bag for a service wash! They'll do it in one wash in giant machine so prob more economical anyway tho I dud have to send the powder as they use bio. What a lazy cow I am!!!!!

DS still running a temp but no other symptoms as of yet. He's gone back to bed for a while now.

Regretted Indian takeaway big time last night as was up in the night with indigestion :( Indian is officially off the menu now!

Having cravings for Subway this morning - god I am SO bad! Might not act on it though as dont want to take DS out...

ledkr · 15/01/2011 11:17

PDR is it stil painfull at all?I should keep it up as much a poss.If it comes back up and you have lots of pain then get it checked,is your calf ok?no swelling, puckering or pain?
Was going to do pic today as you just have to see my 45cm bump but dh has pissed me off already,im not sure if its me or him,we had never had across word in 3 yrs until this pg,am starting to seriously worry about our future tbh,Hope its just the hormones.Sad

PDR · 15/01/2011 11:44

ledkr no its not painful now but trying to take it easy. My calf is fine but did have a pulled muscle (I think) last week from the night cramps but it's gone now.

Ah ledkr don't worry about DH I am sure it's just hormones. I am exactly the same. DH is wanting to go to the pub tonight to watch the Arsenal match which I am not keen on as DS is poorly and wants "daddy" all the time (DH working till 4pm). We actually have the channel it's being shown live on so no reason why he can't watch it at home with a few beers but he's trying to tell me it's on Sky Sports which we don't have but I can clearly see it's on ESPN which we do Confused. Idiot! Basically he just wants to go to the pub which he should just be honest about Angry!!!!

snowangels1 · 15/01/2011 11:57

ledkr DH and I had cross words this morning too and I'm in a bit of a state about how he'll cope/we'll cope with baby. Am seriously hoping it's all hormones as I've never felt this annoyed with DH before and DH is being so rude and moody to me (in my hormonal opinion anyway).

Had a terrible night with heartburn/leg sticking into my digestive bits/smell of loft boards DH left in bedroom awaiting going into loft tomorrow making me feel really quesy. This is all getting quite hard work now.

wiggles I hope you've recovered from the fall. It seems vending machines can be a dangerous piece of kit Wink

PDR hope DC feels better soon.

Naive first timer question again - how do they tell how dialated you are? DO they take a peek/feel at your lady bits and give educated guess at number of cms from the feel or do they use some kind of impliment? Does it hurt? I know this is very dense. Sorry but I have no idea!

snowangels1 · 15/01/2011 12:04

Oh yeah, and just wondering if anyone is managing to keep up full, ahem, marital relations with their DP now?

DH tried/wanted some 'proper' action the other night and honestly didn't seem to understand that I was so sore/swollen/uncomfy in that whole area that I really didn't even want to try. I guess I should be glad DH is still interested in me in the state I am Hmm. Just wondering if I'm being unusual in really not wanting to bother or not. I felt like I should try to for his sake given we'll have a big lack post birth, but I just couldn't do it.

PDR · 15/01/2011 12:19

angels the midwife does an internal exam to see how many cms dilated you are (don't think it's true cm more like a scale of 1-10) You can ask for minimal internals if you are not comfortable with this but it's a good way of knowing if things are progressing or not.

We are just about managing relations but positions are limited Grin and lots of foreplay is required (sorry TMI!) If you don't feel like it though don't do it! He will cope - there are other ways Wink

snowangels1 · 15/01/2011 12:24

so what is an internal exam then? Blush

pdr we are starting to exhaust the other ways Wink

PinkiePoo · 15/01/2011 12:25

Ok...just got home in between teaching today for lunch. Feeling really crap, got bad cramps down low and back ache...is this normal? starting to worry. I feel ok apart from that. I did 3 hours cover teaching last night so could this be a way of my body saying too much??

Just need advice as i have 3 hours to teach this afternoon and 3 hours tomorrow morning!! ARGGGHHH!!

PDR · 15/01/2011 12:38

angels they put their hand/fingers up there to be crude Blush

PDR · 15/01/2011 12:39

Pinkie I get cramps if I am overdoing it. Please take it easy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Can anyone cover for you?

PinkiePoo · 15/01/2011 12:44

Well probably....just need the money!! Maybe i will go but just take it very easy. Got bad cramps at beginning of pregnancy and nothing since this bad, she wriggling around a lot though. I might be wrong but maybe she has dropped as i feel its all of a sudden harder to walk....

Give me a few more weeks and i would be happy to go into labour (kinda) but its too early now! I am sure it will be fine, just honestly feel like a pile of shite!!!

PDR · 15/01/2011 12:54

I know a few of you have Bugaboo prams so can I ask you if I need to get a footmuff now or can I leave this a while till I am using it in pushchair mode?

40Weeks · 15/01/2011 13:06

Gosh girls Just when I think I am catching up there is a whole new page to read!

On my way to a chocolate making workshop! Then meeting two of my BFs for coffee. Lush.

Anyway, no angels you aren't a weirdo for not wanting the fu shebang. If I am honest. I am certainly in the mood for it but just so bloody tired. The mind is willing but the body is not!

Good lick tad hope labour is nice n quick for you! Keep us posted if poss.

Pdr you could wait for the footmuff as it's used with the pushchair which won't be this winter x

Pinkie take it easy!

ledkr · 15/01/2011 13:07

angelsbless you,you would have to have a very big lady garden to be able to peek in at your cervix Grinthey do an internal and neasure with their fingers i think its on finger per cm.As you know i have been up for it all pg but now i just physically cant be bothered and i dont think i could tbh.
Thanks for sharing dh annoyance stories, and yes i do think its him too,he told me the other day he was irritated that i called down for him to bring a toilet roll wtf.
i just hope he will come up with the goods post section or my mate is coming to stay and helpou and he can p off.

ledkr · 15/01/2011 13:11

pinkie, what are you teaching and what grade,as you know i taught tap with dd but i sat down for the jumpy stuff,it was advanced too so quite strenuous. Can you show the technique without actually jumping, call in Louis Spence i say

PinkiePoo · 15/01/2011 13:20

I teach jazz and tap. I do try and take it easy so not really jumping, but maybe I'm just tired.

Just got bad cramps... Not easing! I teach up to grade 6 tap but feel guilty when I can't do it properly. I need to chill out. Just getting panicky as I'm measuring too big and maybe I will go into labour sooner than I think.. Having a mini breakdown today ha ha!

wigglesrock · 15/01/2011 13:33

Having no marital relations of an exciting variety with Mr Wiggles at this point. I'm afraid we get to about 7.5 months at that's it, seriously not even my mind is willing never mind my body. Its a bit different with us re his shift patterns anyway, maybe if he was home at night it might make a diference Wink

Knee is much better thank God, have to say was having a full on panic attack at 1.30 this morning, the pain was so bad and movement so limited that I was sure I had really done some damage. But have managed to "walk off" most of the pain/tightness, still sore but deffo better.

ledkr · 15/01/2011 13:46

gd 6 should be able to manage with just verbal prompts, the cramps may well be the start, how far are you?im now measuring 45 wks at 37 and im still going so you maybe ok.please take it easy, ill do a triple time step in youe honour Grin

snowangels1 · 15/01/2011 14:12

triple time step? That brings back memories. I can just about tap step shuffle (or something). pinkie you're doing amazing to still be teaching jazz/tap still, please be careful not to overdo it. I think anyone would understand if you had to cancel any classes or take it easy.

Sorry for being so naive re: internal exams Blush . So if it's about one finger per cm does that mean you can sort of check yourself at home? Blush

Just managed a little nap. It was only about 10 mins whilst DH watched top gear but feel a bit better now :)

I'm glad others don't seem to be getting very jiggy with it (I don't mean that in a 'I'm glad your sex life is crap' way, more a I'm glad I'm not the only one way). I just feel a bit guilty as the second trimester randyness never appeared, so poor DH has been with an uninterested old lump since june Confused

Oneof4 · 15/01/2011 15:56

Angels I asked exactly the same question at my class and apparently it's quite approximate - one mw's 3cm is another mw's 4cm, and they measure by feeling how much of the baby's head they can feel through the cervix. I imagine that having a prod yourself may do more harm than good and leave you none the wiser!

No maritals going on here, either. The spirit is willing but the body is an unresponsive whale.

Sorry to hear about your knee Wiggles, but the story of how it happened really made me laugh. :)

PDR · 15/01/2011 16:05

angels can you even reach your cervix over your bump?! (Impressed if you can!) I doubt I could but like Oneof4 says it's more of a guide and some women never reach 10cm.

snowangels1 · 15/01/2011 17:08

Good point pdr! I was just interested really. I've had a very odd sensation 'down there' recently and the best way I can describe it is (sorry if tmi) it's like I've got a tampon in but it's not quite in the right position or it's in dire need of changing IYKWIM Blush . I assume it's just that the whole area is a bit sore.

Am in mega bad mood so no one come near me! Have spent the afternoon with DH emptying out our loft at our new house ready for boarding it up tomorrow. My parents (who used to live here) left lots of nice toys/games/books etc of mine from when I was younger to go through but also TONS of junk that they just couldn't be bothered to move. I'm very Angry . What on earth do I want with a 60 year old play pen that probably has lead paint on it or a broken banjo (to name but a couple of the masses of dusty stuff now dirtying out lovely clean house). grrrrrrrr.

tadjohndoryp · 15/01/2011 17:33

Don't check yourself angels as you don't really know what you're feeling for and could introduce some sort of infection. They just happen to check that here at 36+ weeks otherwise I would never have known. I am slightly concerned that I will be walking around the supermarket and it will just fall out! Shock I won't know whether labour has kicked in at this rate. Needless to say dh doesn't want sex anymore!

Hope everyone is having a great or at least improving Saturday. (And you manage to get all that crap cleaned up angels).

Hope your knee feels better wiggles. Apologies to anyone I've missed.

ZeroMinusZero · 15/01/2011 18:35

Yep, no maritals in the Zero house for a loooooooong time... question, has anyone else bought nursing bras yet? I got a couple on sale that I thought would fit, despite being quite big, but they're quite tight. And I just read that they shouldn't be too tight because they shouldn't put too much pressure on your nipples (assuming you want to breastfeed).

So... I'm not sure what to do. Was thinking of trying to get fitted tomorrow but not sure if the place I'm going to will have much experience of pregnant or breastfeeding women. Although thinking about it, I suppose it would be strange if they didn't. I also wondered about the wisdom of buying nursing bras before giving birth as it's all going to change again soon enough.... but I don't have any that fit right now Confused
