I have done quite well with buying normal leggings a size bigger rocket, sometimes going for the longer leg length as well just to be sure. I have also done the same for empire line dresses/tunics.

I think there's more choice of maternity stuff online than in the shops, annoyingly. Where have you looked? Dotty Ps and New Look have been good to me. JojoMamanBebe is pretty good as well and has a sale on.

Scorpette · 30/12/2010 23:26

My Dad irons my parents' bedclothes. Madness, I tells ye. Mind you, the last lot we washed, TYF just dumped on top of his dirty slipper by the bed, so my Mum is probably the winner in this domestic scenario. As you all know by now, I don't own an iron (and Pol can attest that I am not a scarecrow) so it's a no from me re: ironing anything baby clothes.

Also about Monty tubes or whateva: I read that term a month ago on MN and googled it. Apparently you're supposed to get them as your pg progresses. But I've had them ever since puberty. Is I a freak or is it bullshit that you only get 'em when diffed?

rocketleaf · 30/12/2010 23:27

Haven't heard of JojoMamanBebe so thanks for that muse Although it looks suspiciously like LaRedoute group, I hesitate to buy anything from there as its taken me 5 years for them to stop sending me Vertbedaut crap in the post after I bought one thing for my niece. I have checked out new look and dotty ps before but not recently so will give them another look. Mainly been looking Asos, Topslut, mothercare (bork) debenhams. Have actually found some ok stuff on TS just now but its ALL black which is a bit dull. I have picked up nice stuff from Hennes mat range way before I was diffed so am hoping I can find some stuff instore there.

Scorpette · 30/12/2010 23:30

Rocket, I got some fab black pg leggings from H&M for only £7.99. Dunno how tall you are, but they fit me at a long-legged 5ft4.

Scorpette · 30/12/2010 23:41

Am orf to bed - won't have 'nets until @6pm, so happy Noo Yir if some of you will be out by then Grin Love you shlaaaaags!

rocketleaf · 30/12/2010 23:42

I'm 5'7" Yep I think a trip to Hennes is going to be the solution.

Ok and just for your viewing amusement I found these on my internet travels.

skeggings seriously BAD name, jeggings have a LOT to answer for. Hmm

ginhag · 31/12/2010 00:18

cho soz... I did manage to answer eventually, comes out of top hat but sprinkles not just out one hole. Fuck knows why the other bit does anything really.

Got distracted by your description of colour at first, hence my rather patronising colustrum post. But I did realise, there's a post back there to show it...

I just had a glass of champagne Grin Am a wild one. Mr gin n boys came back, one of them is gonna be 40 on jan 1st so cracked open the bubbly. I thought if I joined in n had a glass I'll be less annoyed at them being a bit loud n happy when I go to sleep (or try to)

ginhag · 31/12/2010 00:22

rocket top shop has black maternity leggings, they is good. H n m was quite good for me too, although I fucking hate going in the shops.

Tbh pretty much all my mat wardrobe is black or grey, with the odd bit of brown or white. Very occasionally you may spy an ackshul colour. But then I tend to dress in a very grungy fashion, so it feels fairly normal to me. So I'm prob not much help...

SilverSky · 31/12/2010 07:28

RockYaSocksOrf Snap! I am the same height and those leggings fitted me fine, in fact fitted me from early pregnancy thru til now and MB is 8 wks. So I feel a very worthy investment.

Have you tried Next mat range? It's only avail online, tho could be found in huge stores. Also Pumpkin Patch have a maternity range tho it's limited.

rocketleaf · 31/12/2010 09:42

Wooo, just back from hossie, LOVELY sonographer lady said it would be 'mean not to' scan the Sprout as well. It was AMAZE! I think because dating scan was so early and was basically just a blob or maybe the equipment at the hospital is a bit better than the clinic but it was so clear!! Baba was facing towards us and having a wee rave so really good picture of his/her face. I think she was buzzing just as much, must be nice to get the opportunity to do that when you spend all day scanning people for diseased organs. Unfortunately they dont do print outs there as its all sent digitally but it was just lovely to see ickle one boogying around in there :o

gin i am fairly grunge too, when I'm not a bit skaterish. I do try and inject colour when possible but its usually purple or dark green. I suspect my mat wardrobe it going to be pretty dull, at least until summer when I can get some frocks on.

Good to know re sizing silvs Defo will try the H&M ones then. Budget is a bit of an ishoo for me now I'm not working so prob be my staple. I don't mind the stores, but then I quite enjoy a jumble sale too :o

I read that those bumpy bits of nipple (bet whoever Mongomery was was made up they got named after him Hmm) were for lubing the nip, spose they are going to require extra lube just after birth so might be why they get a bit over active?

PerfectDromedary · 31/12/2010 09:45

Mat clothes are AWFUL - cheap materials horribly overpriced because you can't buy anything else. Still, at least pregnancy bumps are things to be worn with pride these days, so that we don't have to wear dirndl tents.

My basics have been leggings from ASOS (although they do keep going into holes because they're cheap and I wash them with fabric conditioner - on my second batch), a black grandad cardigan from JoJoMamanBebe, these amazingly comfortable and yet ok for work black trousers from Seraphine and a couple of wrap tops and support vests also from Seraphine. Lack of boobage = support vests way more comfortable than horrid maternity bras.

I've found ASOS's mat wear ok, although not brilliant, but at least there's some sense of style/shape. Gap's quite good for casual stuff, but crap for office wear.

PerfectDromedary · 31/12/2010 09:47

Sprocket Cross-post! Fab that you got to see the sprout! What did they say about gall bladder?

MsFC · 31/12/2010 09:55

cho, washing? Nah. Can't be arsed. Never did with the boy child, and like Mooch, he still has all limbs.

I can't remember much about where on your nips stuff came out off, just that it was impossible to get dressed after a warm shower without exH holding a breast pad on each one to stop it shooting across the room. Nice. They didn't warn us about THAT in NCT.

gin don't throw your iPad across the room. It's cruel.

Lovely news about your extra scan rocket!

Still full of congestion and cold, so no plans for tonight. Just me, the FC, M&S party food and a Spooks box set.

rocketleaf · 31/12/2010 09:59

They couldn't tell me anything drom they just send the results thru to the GP and I have to make an appointment to see him. So prob have to wait a few weeks to find out the score but judging by the length of time and amount of snaps she took scanning that side compared to the right it is gall stones. Plus I could feel it when she was pressing down, its very tender there. Just will find out the severity I suppose, not like there is any treatment!!

I really like those trousers but I generally HATE viscose, it clings in the wrong places on me and i don't like the way is hangs of my thunder thighs. I am after a pare of those in cotton/lycra but can't find any anywhere, although that does look like quite thick and matte viscose?

rocketleaf · 31/12/2010 10:02

cross post mrs sorry you are feeling poorly still but your evening actually sounds bliss. we are going to friends for nibbles and shampoo, TB was quite happy to stop in but I pointed out this is prob the last year we will be able to too. At least it is a low key do and I will be driving so easy enough to bail.

rocketleaf · 31/12/2010 10:02

to too? what? Hmm

SilverSky · 31/12/2010 10:09

I think the NCT online shop do bamboo trews which look comfy and as tho they will last during and after preggo.

gin I agree on the square boobs!!! Veh odd. Engorgement is not an enjoyable time fo' sho'.

PerfectDromedary · 31/12/2010 10:10

I didn't even notice they WERE viscose - shows how shit I am at interwebulator shopping. They're very thick and heavy and like wearing a cotton/lycra blend.

They're not the most flattering at the top of my thighs now (because I am the size of a nelliephant) but they were fine earlier in pregnancy.

MsFC · 31/12/2010 10:14

I like those trousers too muse, I have a similar pair that are tHe only things that fit me now. They are so soft round my bump.

Sorry rocket, I was so pleased about your sprout view that I forgot to ask about the gall stones. There really is nothing they can do if that's what it is? What an arse. Will the pain get better or worse as you grow?

I think going out is a good plan for tonight, like you say, next year will be a different story! Is it far to drive?

I shall also be avoiding Eastenders as it looks far too stressful. Last nights episode was bad enough. (bet I'm the only PESH who watches such drivel...!)

Muser · 31/12/2010 10:24

Think you meant Drom, not me MrsFC. I wish I'd known about those trousers earlier, they look ace. I am not buying anything now though.

I also recommend buying non-maternity jumper dresses. I am still wearing a black poloneck jumper dress I had pre-pregnancy. Show that bump off.

Muser · 31/12/2010 10:26

Also meant to say, hooray for views of Sprout rocket, what a lovely surprise. Gallstones are a pisser though.

We are stopping in tonight, but we always stop in. I am really not a fan of NYE in London. Edinburgh is a different story, but that's because you can walk home easily enough.

PerfectDromedary · 31/12/2010 10:28

I am not buying anything, neither. Not even though there are sales on everywhere. I will not be caught by evil discounts.

I am currently wearing an empire-line sweater dress that I bought well before pregnancy. Is now more just a sweater, but tres, tres comfortable.

Sling and breast pump both turned up today. I am proper earth-mother, me. Apart from the lack of ackshual baby, of course.

MsFC · 31/12/2010 10:33

I keep having dreams about my breast pump. Where I express loads of milk and then remember I didn't sterilize the bloody thing and have to start all over again! I haven't said anything to the FC about how the freezer gets full of white milky bags. Need to know basis, that's how he works.

rocketleaf · 31/12/2010 10:34

It's most likely to get worse, FC as the sprout grows the rest of my organs get squished into a smaller space. I can't have any treatment until after birth as the drugs or the ultra sound treatment they give to break them down would harm the baby, and can't have a general for removal of gall bladder either unless it in extreme circumstances. Mind you I'd rather look at every other avenue than removal first anyway. My main concern is that the next few months of attacks are going to damage my gall bladder so much that surgery will be the only option left. Apparently it can get so scarred it wont recover. BUT there is sweet FA I can do about it really so I am just not going to worry about it right now.

It has made me rethink having a HB tho. TB was a bit worried about it anyway and now that there is this added complication I think I'd be better off in the MW led unit a the Womens. Not because the gallbladder can affect the birth but because I think I will probably be coping with 2 different sets of pain so want to keep my options open on that score. Still going to do my best for as natural a birth as poss tho!

silver just so you know, bamboo is usually the same as viscose, viscose is a man made cellulose fibre made from 'natural' sources most often bamboo as its cheap. They often label it bamboo to wrap it up as more natural than it is but the processing is heavily chemicalized. It's a bit of a grey area but i think trading standards are looking at legislation about clearer labeling but haven't yet brought anything in. (yarn boffin!)

LadyGoneGaga · 31/12/2010 10:37

Oh, I've missed loads of chat due to my inability to stay up past 9pm these days.

Glad you got to see baby, Rocket. That helps make up for the starvation/nil by mouth. Hope news is ok when go to the Docs.

I've gone into maternity clothes already for some stuff as sporting a little bump already. So have dug out old Topshop jeans from last time and like Scorps have new H&M leggings. Have quite a lot of stuff from H&M. Do Blooming Marvellous still exist? Shop has closed in my town.

Am very excited about Pols gusset too!

We're staying in tonight as have MiniG (his dad was meant to have him but has plans and tbh, am not that bothered about going out) - going to eat nice food and maybe watch a film if we can get the boy to bed.

Is anyone else really, really itchy? Boobs and bump mainly - driving me mad.
