ginhag · 13/01/2011 17:07

I just TOLD you what to do scorps :)

LadyGoneGaga · 13/01/2011 17:15

Do you have a detachable carrycot on your pram set up, Scorps? You could use that in lieu of a moses - will do same job. Otherwise I think it is worth having one in case your baby is normal and will sleep not attached to you.

Scorpette · 13/01/2011 17:17

Shurrup gin, I'm having a flail! Wink

So I should... get both? That was actually my plan, as the basket is handing for daytime naps. I ask my Mum about this stuff but she either can't remember and I was in my own bed before I was a year old anyway (like all good 70s kids).

Scorpette · 13/01/2011 17:24

For all you Hippo Hipsters out there: found this groovy vid (ignore cheesy Americans - not inc. our dear Cass, of course). Have wanted a water birth with hippo breeving for years (broody and planning motherhood for fucking yonks, me!)

Vid:

HalleLouja · 13/01/2011 17:26

The boy never slept in the crib. We put him in the moses basket in the crib so we could rock him. If I were you Scorps I would get a moses basket and a stand which rocks - much cheaper than a crib and you will get good use out of it.

TH's nephew never slept in the crib properly either. Maybe it will be third time lucky.

Muser · 13/01/2011 17:27

Get both Scorps. Moses baskets are cheap anyway.

It is nearing time for a new Not List, featuring the lovely ChooChoo at the top. Who wants on/off/changing?

ChoChoSan · 13/01/2011 17:57

Did someone mention my name? :)

Finished work today, thank fuck...about time As I feel as though my skellington is gradually dismantling itself, anaemic and bruised ribs (inexplicably). Also a bit puffy these days, and bemoaning the loss of my previously nicely turned ankles. Stilettos firmly consigned to the wardrobe now, but that's not to say I did not take advantage of the Kurt Geiger sale. I also bought a tailored VW jacket online to treat myself for a bit of post-birth stylishness, as I am the type to find that I have been living in stained velour after a few days off work. Although jacket is my size, it's very fitted, and having tried it on, I can't imagine my rib cage ever reverting to a girth that can be crammed in the jacket. Hoping baybee comes with enough time for skeleton to snap back, or within time for me to return jacket Blush

Aaanyhoo....me and the boyf have lots of ideas for nursery and, miraculously, we are in agreement on our theme, none of which have come to fruition yet, apart from that I have ordered curtains, but I suppose the baybee will be in with us for a while anyway!

Looking for box set suggestions, btw....ideas welcome

rocketleaf · 13/01/2011 18:11

oh yeah and while we are on the subject what about black out curtains, are these REALLY a necessity? The room currently has wooden blinds which block out the light quite a bit but wont make it completely dark. i keep reading this is a VERY BAD THING but really cant be arsed to change them. Thing is i am bloody light sleeper so i madam takes after me i could well be in for it.

cho good skills on the wishful shopping there, best to have something to aim for and of course your ribs with return to normal hour glass shape 30 minutes after giving birth :o

ChoChoSan · 13/01/2011 18:29

Hi rocket, and congrats on your scan...a girlywhirly rocket!

I decided to go with blackout curtains for nursery, but I did deliberate over it, as I don't want a baybee that can't sleep with a bit of daylight on it, but in the end I thought it'll be in it's room for years, and you get the kind of ankle-biter you are given, to a certain degree, so went for safe option!

ginhag · 13/01/2011 18:35
ginhag · 13/01/2011 18:37

what has helped others. Not sure hats really come into my argument.

owlbooty · 13/01/2011 18:43

I did start reading all the pages at work but all the talk of guffing made me snort with laughter so I had to stop as people were staring. Bad PESHes!

Cho skellington sounds v.painful in manner of transformer robot going wrong. Hoorah for finishing work though :)

Muesli I think I may just lurk for a bit longer rather than joining in with the listage as I would like to see how the scan goes before I get my hopes up. Lurkity lurkity lurk.

rocketleaf · 13/01/2011 18:50

gin you really are a font of all sense and reason today (and every day) :o I suppose I know that anyway, that it really depends on the baby. I know I might sound like i am getting all organised but really its only because i have a bit of time on my hands and internet 'research' is more fun than getting down the the stuff that would actually be useful, like sorting though all my books or shredding some of the paper work, or taking the recycling to the dump. Or trying sorting my portfolio out and looking for some extra work. Really I am a lazy tart and will probably end up with not much done at all by my due date :o

Think i will stick with what i've got and if she really has trouble sleeping or ends up waking up with the larks evry morning then i'll prob nail a bit of black out over the top of the blinds thus completely ruining the effect of my perfectly designed nursery :o

rocketleaf · 13/01/2011 18:53

good lord cheesy grin over load.

PrincessBoo · 13/01/2011 19:02

And if you're going to be co-sleeping or having her in with you in cot/moses till she's 6 months then the curtains in your bedroom need to be the ones that block out the light before you sort the nursery.

Unless you put her down in there for naps of course.

Medee · 13/01/2011 19:22

Scorp we're doing Moses basket till it grows out of it, then cot. You can go straight to cot, but liked the size and portability of a n MB.

Thanks for the thermometer comments - the one drom linked to might just be the thing.

Medee · 13/01/2011 19:23

Can't believe we need a new thread after 13 days!

LadyGoneGaga · 13/01/2011 19:25

Can I change my due date to 24th July on the list? And change to "has lost her waist". Can someone check Pol's date for me too? ta

and in 3PM - gah! I can't find my gingercake recipe. And the alternatives I can find in my books contain eggs which I don't have, so my gingercake thoughts will need to wait till the weekend to be satisfied.

Medee · 13/01/2011 19:27

I'm glad to be 6th, not sure I would be happy any higher than that! It's ages away Hmm

Scorpette · 13/01/2011 19:38

Hey, Kimdeal isn't on the BESH BAYBEES list - d'ya wanna get on there, me old flower? I know you had a male of the species, but not the date.

PollyPoo · 13/01/2011 19:39

You got the date right GG, thank you.

Meds sorry to hear of your accident, I hope you are feeling ok now?

Congrats on the start of your mat leave Cho! Not a moment too soon by the sound of it. Did you see on FB that my lovely SIL offered you her tens machine? I think she posted a comment after yours on my profile.

My MIL has offered to use her airmiles to take me, Boo and BB to greek island for 2 weeks in May! Accommodation is free as the hotel belongs to MIL's SIL if you get my drift. All we have to find the pennies for are the ice creams and the ferry. Boo gets to hassle her grandma for two weeks (I don't think MIL has actually thought about how tiring this will be!) and I just have to drink cocktails look after BB. The only drawback is I have to spend two weeks with MIL! We actually get on ok, even though she is as tactless as can be, but two weeks is a long time. What do you reckon... should I go? I can't convince TG to come with us - he hates the heat/sun (freak) and would just moan the whole time so probably better he stays at home. Besides, someone has to look after the dog. Grin

rocket I can't remember if I managed to say this already but congrats on your little girl! They are the best (I would say that, of course). I have sackfuls of pretty pink clothes if you want them Wink. But seriously, if you do need ought or would like to peruse what I have available, just yell. I won't be able to keep everything. And I chose some stickers with tree branches, birds and cats that can hang off them (wasn't sure about using the cats in the first place). Then they arrived and were not what I expected. Think I may be able to put them to an alternative artistic use though. I am chuffed with <a class="break-all" href="http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=cdn5.mydeco.com/product_images/full/95f89d2599dacced5e78a56a20972f3d4ec3482b.jpg&imgrefurl=mydeco.com/p/alpha-hummingbird-pendant-shade-white/GB000005R6YMTKIXBJFPOOCVWEJM75EMIQTKCD3G/&usg=__5ZJHa_X8r9EmFJD8w3iXN32sJsc=&h=500&w=500&sz=27&hl=en&start=0&sig2=9R-4QW8-5eQhGhMkg7jQqw&zoom=1&tbnid=cX3B18QPDPJ5VM:&tbnh=133&tbnw=133&ei=0FUvTfnCHIaEhQernLToCg&prev=/images%3Fq%3DAlpha%2BHummingbird%2BPendant%2BShade,%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DX%26biw%3D1280%26bih%3D709%26tbs%3Disch:1%26prmd%3Divns&itbs=1&iact=hc&vpx=599&vpy=61&dur=42&hovh=225&hovw=225&tx=128&ty=144&oei=0FUvTfnCHIaEhQernLToCg&esq=1&page=1&ndsp=29&ved=1t:429,r:3,s:0" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">this though. I plan to inject some colour.

Quick luffs to everyone. and congrats to cho on finally finishing work.

And, BTW, a 36 week baby wasn't that stressful... Wink. But I wouldn't really wish a prem on anyone.

Nipple tickles and super chuffs all round.

CurlyCasper · 13/01/2011 19:45

x-posts - How did I miss the return of kim! Lovely to see you back in these parts.

Medee · 13/01/2011 20:01

thanks Polly, yes, fine now, though MrM has threatened to wrap me in bubble wrap till March!

2 weeks is a long time, but it's free, and May will be a lovely time to go.

I have now seen that nursery blog and it is indeed luffly.
