Evening all! Still no news then?

Hamster - know what you mean about MMR. I was pretty sceptical about the link with autism from the time it came out. I spent a lot of my working life with autistic kids and adults and knew that that was around the time that people start to suspect all was not well, even my aunt 50 years ago. I did all the research but when it came to the day I was anxious, and angry as well. Angry that 1 b**y study of 12 kids was causing me so much stress. Needless to say she was fine, apart from an impressive measles rash about 2 weeks later I think - good photo opportunity but no effect on Tessa (bad Mummy )

Laylasmum - another homebirth one on here then, think that makes 4. I should be having a visit for the same thing on Thursday but midwife not back from holiday till then and no-one has arranged an actual time. As I feel it is rather importnat for Dh to be there we may have to rearrange it!

Fingers-crossed BoB. It really is a countdown now!

BEKS - I was supposed to have done something about the sweepstake weeks ago and haven't. Can you remind me what I was supposed to do please?

Loved the kidney scan story Twinkle!

Golden - you don't think your son is hoping a puppy might appear instead of/as well as some brothers do you?? My nephew spent most of my SiL's 3rd pregnancy saying he didn't want a brother or sister he wanted a dalmation

SharonTW · 11/10/2005 20:49

twinkle and BoB - water leaking and contractions already...eeek!

i'm getting quite frustrated at how slow and old and crumbly i am. this must be what it is like to be old...i feel lithe and energetic, but I can't do everything i want to do. bending down is nearly impossible without doing cliched hand on back move. partner swings from scoffing 'are you sure you're not exaggerating just a little bit' as I grunt with one hand on back while trying to pick things up off the floor to 'are you alright let me get that for you'.

at night it feels like I've really 'done my back in' - am going to go online and see if i can find a pregnancy masseur in my area. AND then to the hospital as MY FEET AND HANDS are HUGE. think i shld get them checked out - they are corned beef in colour and like pasticine to touch...yuck - can't be right cannit?

then must 'eco paint' the skirting boards in the baby's room as i need to get dp to put the spare bed all back together before his SIL from Hull comes to stay tomorrow night. feel a bit like lou from little britain...bed bound and groaning in the morning in presence of partner then up painting skirting boards and singing to the radio in the afternoon. he he

it's tiring being at home all day!!
Goldenoldie - would love to meet up at some stage, seem to have jam packed this week and next with the race to get things ready...can we do it once i've got a few things on my 'to do' list ticked off. err like 'get stuff for hosp bag'

Does anyone have a stuff to take to hosp list they would like to share with me ?

Rodeo Rodeo where for art thou Rodeo?

JenJam · 12/10/2005 09:26

rodeo1 · 12/10/2005 09:51

CONGRATULATIONS Mr and Mrs Rodeo!!! [Grin]

Lovely name

ChaCha · 12/10/2005 10:20

Congratulations Rodeo!!!!! Wow! Our first graduate on the November thread....awwwww!

Beks - Tis great news about your growth scan and best of luck at the consultant.
BoB - Hope you're feeling well today.
Jenjam - If you search for 'hospital bag' on the Pregnancy thread you will find some great lists on there. I copied and pasted a lot of the suggestions from other MNers and made it my checklist. I found suggestions such as dextrose tablets useful .. would never have thought of that.

Twinkle - I've been up a lot with BH, only managed to sleep from 12-5 with a possible 5 trips to the bathroom. I wake feeling quite faint these days so will talk to my m/w about that tomorrow.

Thankfully have a SAHM friend over tomorrow who will be coming with me to m/w and spending day here. Am going to busy myself today with list prepared at 6am! Will not let myself get bored!

novadandypowder · 12/10/2005 10:55

Jenjam my feet and legs sound exactly the same as yours, getting very frustrated with it now as the left one especially is very uncomfy. The midwife always says that there's nothing wrong, so I guess it's nothing to worry about.

DH told me last night that he keeps expecting the baby to come at any time now (I'm only 36+5), bless his cottons. I think it's because a few of his friends who had early babies keep reminding him of the fact. I've told him that I'm more likely to go over as my mum did with all 3 of hers, so he's got a while yet.

At another loose end today as was supposed to visit a friend, but she's been up with a sick baby all night so thought it best to cancel.

Glad to hear all is well in Rodeo land

Laylasmum · 12/10/2005 11:03

BEKsmum · 12/10/2005 11:50

Congratulations Annie and Emerys, what wonderful news and what a lovely name.

Hope mum & baby can be back with the rest of the family by the end of the week and that Bella & Joe gets lots of spoiling too for being such a lovely big sister & brother to Jessica.

Three cheers for our first graduate ladies

ChaCha · 12/10/2005 12:37

I've just spent the last 15minutes or so standing in the garden trying to get some air as I came over in a sweat! It's not so bad now but was quite scary..I feel really weird. I haven't taken iron tablet for 2 days as I feel they make me ill but am wondering if i should take one now to stop feeling so dizzy. Any ideas ladies? Sweating - is it a normal symptom at this stage?

twinkle1 · 12/10/2005 13:04

congratulations!!!!! The rodeo family hope you will all be at home together soon
Cha cha take it easy.
bob what happened about ??waters going???
well i am still looking for a carpet for the nursery, its the only thing about living up a bloody mountain not many shops
Got to take the kids to a swimming club try out tonight!!! mum the taxi service strikes again

ChaCha · 12/10/2005 13:32

BoB hasn't logged in today. Hopefully she is still asleep as I recall she said that was the case yesterday. Fingers crossed.

Sweating has stopped now but still feeling a bit weird. Could someone tell me the name of a good perineum massage cream pls or what i could be using? Should be starting now.

I want to go and get my hair done and buy some new clothes, am so emotional as of late even had strange ideas that baby when older will look back at pics and think I was fat and ugly DH thought this was hysterical which made me cry even more. I then ended up laughing and fell asleep! How things change.

Labour cannot be imminent as I have no desire for nesting. Only thing i'm doing is lounging around like a fat cat while list stays in its place on dining room table. Well...where is everyone?

babyonboard · 12/10/2005 13:44

hi all..

congratulations to Rodeo and family! what great ews..
i'm looking forward toseeing the 'babies born' list steadily grow..and hopefully i will be pretty far down the list!

I was indeed still asleep until 1pm- hehe..i couldn't sleep last night as I was worrying, and had dp checking my hospital bag and ironing cot sheets at 11pm..heheheee
No more leakage has happened, the litmus showed nothing yesterday ,and she has left me with four which i should use once a day.
Going in for an appointment on friday too ,where they will do a scan if i am stil concerned..
I am feeling a bit silly- i think i panicked over nothing, but better safe than sorry!

Twinkle - hope the contractions were just a random one off..must have been scary!
chacha - hope you are okay too..no idea what could cause that, but I am guessing it's not due to over exertion..teeheee

novadandypowder · 12/10/2005 14:20

ChaCha if it's any consolation I too sweat an incrediable amount for no reason. Also get quite hot so have to make sure I wear layers that I can take off quickly should I need to cool down. Are you trying to eat more foods with iron instead of taking your tablets? I'm sure I read that raisins and apricots were good iron food...

You can just use a base oil (pure vegetable not petroleum based) for perineal massage or a water based lube like KY Jelly. I keep meaning to start this but never seem to get round to it - must try harder.

BoB, I bet you must be slightly disappointed in some way? But what's all this about ironing cot sheets??!

JenJam · 12/10/2005 14:30

errr..what's all this about ironing?

i konw i'm behind most of you, but anyone experienced solvent free paint? IT SUCKS. i've put on 2 coats of gloss (i hate gloss-work) and it still looks streaky/patchy. sigh

and now it's raining

and i'm going to get fat because staying at home all day involves EATING all day.

anyhow you don't want to hear me waffle on. I'm going to hosp to be reassured that puffy arms, legs and angelina jolie esque lips are normal.
have nice afternoon all bye

ChaCha · 12/10/2005 14:34

Thanks Nova - That's reassuring to know. Thought I was turning into MIL who has hot flushes and strips at the drop of a hat! Think I can safely cross menopause and labour off the list for today then

Funny you mentioning raisins & apricots. I went to the shop on the way home last night for what was meant to be a drink but ended up with packets and packets of mixed fruit, nuts & bombay mix. I overdid and ended up sick but will try to eat SMALL portions rather than stuffing half a bag down my throat.

How are you feeling now Nova? You still seem a bit distant.

babyonboard · 12/10/2005 14:35

nova- i had a mad panic that we would be bringing a baby home to an unmade bed..hehehe.

I was slightly dissapointed, but obviously if he was born 5 1/2 weeks early there'd be a chance of him being poorly and in scbu for a while which i certainly don't want!

I'm so tired of being pregnant now- i can't wait to be able to lie on my stomach and walk for more than 5 minutes without being in pain.

good luck at the hospital jenjam!

novadandypowder · 12/10/2005 14:37

I'm quite enjoying the fact that my lips are fuller, I'm hoping they'll stay like that after birth. I also look like I've been indulging in fake tan as my skin is really pigmenting.

Haven't used eco paint, was glossing outside so figured that using gloves to keep it off my skin and wearing a face mask would suffice. Kept humming rave tunes to myself whilst doing it though in an 80's altern8 stylee. I hate glossing so we don't use it on doors and skirting in the house.

novadandypowder · 12/10/2005 14:47

Didn't realise you still had 5 1/2 weeks BoB, I can understand you wanting to cook your bean for a little while longer . I'm about to hit 37wks which makes me quite excited for some reason - another one of those milestones I guess.

Keep meaning to say BoB that whenever I see your name it makes me think of the episode of the Simpsons when Homer is in a barber shop quartet and they write the song 'Baby on Board'. See, now you've got me singing it again.

I'm doing better ChaCha, thanks for asking. Now I'm freaking out about my body shape and longing to get my waist back. Got to make sure I don't slip into bad habits in the last few weeks. I'm getting tired a lot and my feet and legs are swollen, but I want to keep active otherwise I'd just veg out on the sofa.
