Tessasmum - Glad that you've got your PC back! I would be lost without mine and having just sold my laptop [sheds a tear] don't know what i'd do without it. Good luck for homebirth visit on Thursday, hope it all goes well.

Jenjam - Nice to see you post. LOL @ 'Look into my eyes..look into my eyes' approach, it sounds really interesting. Can you shed any more light?
As I'd been really sick during the first trimester I'd already cut my hours to p/t so breaking into the being at home all day mode was probably easier for me. As you've worked up until now you'll probably find there's lots that you'll want to be doing in prep for the baby. Personally, I have days where I find it hard as all my friends are either working or have families of their own and are quite busy but I'm getting used to it now and as everybody so tactfully keeps pointing out 'Make the most of it, when baby is here blah..blah..blah' and you know the rest!!

Londoner - Good luck with party prep. Do you enjoy baking anyway? What kind of cake are you going to make? We tried to do what Karma suggested yesterday to find out baby's position and decided to use the doppler so that we have an idea of where his heart is. It was just by my bellybutton so seems that his head is at one angle at bottom and feet at the opposite angle at top - they call it oblique i think? Anyway..could be all wrong, shall be patient and wait for Thursday.

Twinkle & Hamster - Good luck with appts. Let us know how they go.

Now that i've done my good deed for the day will be offski.....

Londoner · 11/10/2005 11:37

ChaCha, actually you know you're right, how perceptive of you.... I love baking, just not always easy to find the time! (like I know, I could be cracking on now but I'm posting..... ) I have to bake a MASSIIIIIVE chocolate sponge and sandwich it together with plain butter icing, decorated with red butter icing love hearts, a 'no. 7' candle and coca cola lollies ( ? I know! ) stuck all around it one for each party guest.....
Hmmmm, so your baby's lying in oblique fashion huh, kind of an eccentric type you're expecting there, little monkey eh?

sarahsausage · 11/10/2005 11:42

Morning all,

weird to think exactly 2 years ago today was my due date with dd. I just sit watching her and can't belevie whre all the time has gone .

Hamster - re mmr, dd had hers, it wasnt really a tough desicion for me. way i see it, i had it and everyone i know had it and had no problems with it at all. But then everyone has their own opinions on these kind of issues.

Very of the ladies having home births, would love to have a home birth.

Sarah 33 weeks today

Londoner · 11/10/2005 11:42

hamster - Hi, good luck with your son's MMR.... such a hard decision to make I'm with you on that one. I'm sure he'll be fine, and then t'will be such a relief to know he's protected. Be on stand by with that Calpol and tepid flannel, they'll see you through any crisis. Also good luck with your MW appt.
ChaCha - wow, thanks for the count down... I think! [gulp emoticon]

novadandypowder · 11/10/2005 12:12

Great list Chacha, but where has everyone gone? There are some names on there that haven't posted for a while (runs off to buy new deodorant).

Unexpected lazy day today as thought I was going to be helping out on reception at the animal home, but due to crossed wires not going in until thurs. Meeting friend for dinner tonight though so still got to get off my bum and get into town for 6.

Busy weekend coming up, best friend coming to stay from thurs to sat/sun, and a few of us are off for a girlie early birthday/baby lunch at the Ivy on sat . DH will be off playing skirmish for his 40th so he'll be unable to walk on sunday although he can forget it if he wants sympathy from me .

Ho hum - what to do with myself today....

ChaCha · 11/10/2005 12:40

Hi Nova - Sounds like a lovely weekend ahead - enjoy your lunch at The Ivy. Feel free to fill us in on your choice from the menu, drooling over the keyboard is the next best thing!!
What does playing skirmish entail and is it a man's game? I honestly don't know.

Londoner - Awww..how sweet! Your DD sounds lovely, I like the idea of the lollies, that's so original. Tell me, after having 2 boys how was it to have a girl? How are they different?

Sarah - Nice to see you here as well. It's your DDs b'day right...Happy B'day then!

I must admit (if you can't already tell) that i'm a bit bored today DH is taking me out for a while this evening which is something to look fwd to but everyone i know is busy today and I just feel the day is dragging along. It's days like this that I miss work. Never thought i'd say that.

goldenoldie · 11/10/2005 12:53

JenJam - great news about the hypno-birthing classes. You are not far from me - let me know if you fancy meeting up for a coffee.

Know what you mean about getting up every hour or so at night for a pee.

ChaCha - my date is 10 November.

Waist has hit the big 50 now - it is 50 inches round and doing anything is an effort. So glad they are taking these two at 36 weeks...................

Londoner · 11/10/2005 12:58

Hi sarahs, sounds like you're having a nostalgic time at home with your daughter today, cuuuute!
Hi nova, sounds like a cracking weekend ahead for you then.. hold on tight, here comes nova! Hope you have a delicious meal on Saturday, when's your b.day?
ChaCha, Sorry to hear you're so bored.... could you do out for a walk? Somewhere nice, or are you just too uncomfortable? Or too bored (I know that feeling!). Glad to hear your husband will be taking you out tonight and spoiling you, where will you go? Maybe you could do a superlong pampering session on yourself or something so you can knock his socks off and show your husband/yourself/rest of world that heavily pregnant or not you are blooming sensational....... and they'd better not forget it...... after all, you are ChaCha right?
Having a girl when already 2 sons is great, whatever comes is great, having own kids is best thing ever, waiting for baby to be born it too dull esp. 1st time round I agree, but motherhood is ace. Roll on November!
Actually, I'm v. lucky in case you were wondering, my Hologram has gone to shops for me and is now shopping as I post, he he [slack mother emoticon].

ChaCha · 11/10/2005 13:19

Hi goldenoldie - Must be amazing to be carrying twins. I kind of feel guilty for moaning over the weight of just one when you have two to carry around and the GD!! How are you feeling anyway? Is your DS excited about his siblings?

Londoner - Don't fancy a walk although I know it will do me the world of good. I have lots that I could be getting on with but I'm just in that strange 'can't be bothered' mode that I get from time to time. I like the idea of pampering session but might save that for the weekend. We aren't doing anything extraordinary later, just out to visit friends and then a walk nearby. There's a place where we go where we just park the car and watch the moon when visible and then walk the hills - it's really beautiful and I enjoy the night air. Anyway...

babyonboard · 11/10/2005 14:15

hi everyone..
I got way way too muych sleep last night..fell asleep at 11ish, then had the usual waking up for the loo at frequent intervals, got up with DP at 6.30, then put a film on the pc to watch in bed and fell straight back to sleep..and woke up an hour ago! eek..
it has put me into a very energetic and silly mood.
I just called to pay our phonebill and couldn't stop laughing at the guy on the other ends voice- don't ask why!- he must have thought I was crazy! teeheee
Nova- so jealous of your lunch at the ivy, sounds lovely! we once got out of a cab right outside and the doorman came over to open the cab door..felt a bit silly shuffling away down the street..hehehe
I was going to do some more sewing this afternoon but I keep doing silly things so am worried I'll mess it up..I just made a cup of tea without boiling the kettle..wondered why it took so long to diffuse....bleurgh!
chacha..I may be joining you in being bored soon..so much energy but can't think what to do!
I can hear the baby in the flat downstairs crying and want to go down and coo over it, but that would probbaly seem a bit odd..hehee..'hi..can i come in and look at your baby please!?'
i really want to go shopping but my hips and back still haven't recovered from my cleaning spree so best not..
MIL has emailed me saying to only expect phonecalls from her about haircuts or clothes..hehe..not sure what to make of that!
Someone please suggest something for me to do or you run the risk of me logging on here every 10 minutes and boring you silly...

sarahsausage · 11/10/2005 14:30

Chacha - Not dds birthday till 20th October, went 9 days overdue, the 11th was my due date.

G O - I complain about having to chase dd around and about how uncomfortable i am being so huge, but i bet this doesnt compare to how you are feeling and prob have been feeling for ages! At least you dont have to go full term

Just read on the VBACS website that it COULD be possible for me to have a home birth, pretty much down to the midwives policy at my hospital. But then if for some reason i needed an ambulance to get to hospital, it wouldnt take me to the hospital i am booked in with because i'm in a different hospitals catchment area (the very same hospital which took my blood samples when i was pg with dd but didnt actually do the tests, needless to say i switched hospitals, also people i know have had very negative experiences giving birth there). So its looking like i dont have much of a choice, really dont want to risk having to go to the other hospital.

Anyone else feeling really fed up? Starting to feel pressure down there when i stand up, only very slightly but its definately there. Surely this baby isnt going to engage in the breech position?! Pretty sure its still a head i can feel up top.

Better go and rescue dd from the sofa, she has somehow got her foot stuck behind the cushion and is shouting "Help!"

Diege · 11/10/2005 14:49

Hi everyone! Logging on for my library session; only half an hour left as catching up took so long (with fascinating diversion about private room vs ward!.) Special hello to Twinkle and Enthusia - so lovely to meet you both at Northern meet-up, and can't believe how fast the time went (not that we really stoppped for breath!). Can't stop thinking about what Twinkle said about 'buttonholes' (will let her explain!). Good luck with scan today! Enthusia - you have convinced me to take 2 bags to hossy, but I can't match you with 3 - you put me to shame with your organisation! We also managed a bit of shopping after lunch at the discount M&S which which v. productive, and I have to admit to a small splurge in Karen Millen en route for tram home. Gorg' top reduced from £120 to &14 - well, I couldn't just leave it could I! (only problem being that I bought it in my regular size for Xmas, without realising this will only be 5 weeks after birth! May just be wearable next summer, with cardie on top!
Waiting to hear news from Mr. Rodeo! Big hello to everyone else - thanks for countdown ChaCha. I too am at the stage when actually putting washing machine on constitutes adequate days work! Still got those potato fritters of yours on my mind!! Prefer oven crunchies...mmmm!! Also been getting evening tightenings/cramps, and just grateful to wake up as normal at present! Had driving lesson this morning, but think next week's will be my last (too uncomfortable) - must pass my test soon though, with 3 under 5 to ferry around! Will try and log on on Thursday, as library closed on Weds (roll on lap top delivery!).
Diege 35+2

novadandypowder · 11/10/2005 15:11

ChaCha, skirmish is paintballing. DH loves it and is getting sooo excited. He's got about 15 people lined up for it and has T-shirts printed and even created a soundtrack to get them all going in the car on the way there.

My birthday is 5th Nov, but as baby is due then thought I'd better try to arrange seeing my friends before that. I'm sure they'll all be very shocked to see the size of me now, haven't seen them all since the summer.

The weekend just got better - as well as shopping and lunch with bessie mate on friday, I've also booked us in for a massage.

DH and I have been discussing when we should take the kitten back, and even the thought of it makes me want to cry, I am a rubbish foster carer. She's got so big since we took her in, but thankfully is still kitteny enough to get re-homed quite quickly. Can we justify keeping her....... (the head says no, the heart says yes)

babyonboard · 11/10/2005 16:05

dp went paintballing a couple of months ago - they all had a marathon drinking session of double sambuccas before and after.
He came home very messily drunk and covered in bruises- it was very expensive too, he paid over £100 to get beaten up hehee..he loved it though, and plans to go again.
Can't wait to hear from rodeo...!!!!!!
I just started to watch season 2 of desperate housewives, and just as I was getting bored and about to switch it off it got very exciting..yet another trashy american show for me to waste my time on!hehehe
i am panicking myself by worrying i'm about to go into labour..I had the mad cleaning frenzy, have had bad backache, and very dull aches and pressure in my pelvis..now today babies movements are very slight...just tiny little nudges, and when I was just stepping into the shower therre was a 'trickle' - definitly not wee!
i'm sure i'm just worrying, maybe because i'm bored..hehe..but my mum's waters broke at 34 weeks..argh..

ChaCha · 11/10/2005 16:32

BoB - If it wasn't wee shouldn't you be on the phone to your m/w?? Or am i just as paranoid as you?

babyonboard · 11/10/2005 16:38

No one is answering the phone - do you think i should call the labour ward or nhs direct, or am I just being silly?
i'm certain it wasn't wee..i would hope I am sane enough to know the difference..hehehee
nothing has happened since though..i put a pad on and it's totally dry..

babyonboard · 11/10/2005 16:54

I spoke to the midwife, she said not to worry for now, and as she is doing home visits today will call round this evening and leave me some detector strips to put over the pad.
she's so great!
Obviously if anything else happens I'll call the hospital but I'm sure I'm just being silly.

ChaCha · 11/10/2005 17:00

As my mother would say: 'Better to be safe than sorry!' It will put your mind at rest if anything. Your m/w sounds fab btw.
Put your feet up and relax for a while. Doctor's orders!

babyonboard · 11/10/2005 17:05

hehe..my feet are permanently 'up' these days chacha!
my midwife is great, when I had the fainting episodes she came round every other day to check my blood pressure to save me having to go to the day assesment unit.
shame she won't be at the birth!
she told me to do something which is going to make me feel very stupid..empty my bladder fully, then squat over a pile of kitchen towel and 'bear down'...apparantly if there is leakage then it is almost definitly fluid..i will have to time it so I'm doing it in the middle of the kitchen when dp walks in from work..teeheeee

BEKsmum · 11/10/2005 17:16

Afternoon girls,

Haven't really had time to catch up on all the news, but it seems like you girls had a good time yesterday - so where's the pictures then?

Bob, hope you're feeling ok, let us know what the midwife says when she comes round later won't you, can you imagine being the second to graduate!!!

I had a growth scan today and the baby is measuring above size as for some reason the sonographer put in that I was 36+5 even when I told her I was 35+2 but all seems to be fine. She reckons bump weighs 6lb 3oz at present and has a head circumference of 342mm which I average out as about 16cm diameter through a 10cm hole - ouch!!! Got a great picture of bumps face though and it looks like it's got very fat cheeks!!!

I have an appointment with the consultant on Thursday so just have to hope she doesn't decide to drag me in after last weeks little wind up. It's dh's birthday on Saturday and I desperately don't want them to share so will just have to tuck my ankles underneath the chair out of sight and hope the blood pressure is down!!!

Right am going to take Ben for a walk to meet dh off the bus on his bike as it's such a nice afternoon.

Hope you're all well and keep those feet up Bob!!!

karmamother · 11/10/2005 18:33

Evening all.

Slightly irritated as I've just spent 20 mins writing a post then my pc crashed.
Trying to remember what I typed.....

Oh yes, ChaCha - my edd is 25th Nov but I'm fairly certain that I'll be induced at 38 weeks due to the GD. Sorry you're feeling bored. I'm still busy sorting out places to put all my stuff (loft, mainly) now that I've moved in with DP.

Londoner - enough with the chocolate cake, already! I keep hallucinating about choccie cake...its my fave. I have to make do with sugar free jelly to get my sweet fix at the mo. Still, I'm fully expecting to look like a cast member of Desperate Housewives once I've delivered!!! Ha Ha, if only!

BoB - good luck with the little leak. Hope it settles down & you get a few more weeks.

Glad the Northern meet up went well, wish I could've been there but the house looked like a furniture warehouse so DP & I have been very busy.

Off to sort out some food...its all I can think of now. DP thinks I've turned into a human dustbin. What he doesn't realise is that I'm a bit bulhemic (sp?) but I keep forgetting to do the vomitting part.

Laylasmum · 11/10/2005 18:41

No news from Rodeo yet then? have kept logging on to see!!

Can anyone help with a niggle of mine? I've got a` patch of skin on my bump just to left of my navel it feels really sore like its been burned. Its sore to touch aswell. Anyone any ideas what this could be? Theres nothing to see on the skin at all its not even red. Sure its nothing but if any of you guys have anything similar let me know.!!

Got midwife coming round on thurs for a home birth visit thingy am a bit unsure of what to expect from it though!!

karmamother · 11/10/2005 18:48

Laylasmum - wonder if Mears can shed any light on it?
