DuelingFanjo · 29/12/2010 19:22

hey there! I am here, attached to my breast-pump and enjoying a glass of milk Grin

Baby Bob is coming home on Friday, hurrah!

Esian · 29/12/2010 19:37

That's great news DF - just in time for 2011 and a glass of champagne if I were you Grin

I had a sweep today Shock, but nothing happening so far. Got another one booked for Friday then being induced next Monday if I get that far.

I'm also drinking my last cup of raspberry leaf tea, I didn't think I'd finish the packet when I bought it Hmm.

I agree with Frankenfanny but it is hard to keep your mind off it when it's all anyone talks to you about. I know I should be going on long walks but a 4 hour Pride and Prejudice TV marathon won out Grin.

MrsChris · 29/12/2010 20:06

Great news DF - so pleased for you

Esian - thank god for Pride & Prejudice-a-thon. The highlight of my christmas (sad!!)

Having trouble with walking thanks to bad back pain. Was told 2 weeks ago that LO is back to back which is probably contributing, but had GP appt today and he seems to think she's turned which is great.

Bouncing on the swiss ball is good though.

Anyone got any plans for New Year's Eve? It's my birthday and the most excitement I can hope for this year is labour Wink Ha ha. Just wondered if anyone was risking a night out?

maxpower · 29/12/2010 23:08

great news about Bob DF

MrsChris we have nothing planned for NYE (it was my due date but Matthew thankfully arrived on 19th). DH will be working during the day and I'll be keeping an ear out for news of my friend who's due NYD.

Esian · 30/12/2010 16:36

MrsChris Happy birthday for tomorrow.

I have a big family and friends party planned for tomorrow where we hire a hall and DJ equipment. My main problem is I have so little to wear now - I've been in the same 2 t-shirts since about October Sad.

I've just sent DH to shop for more chocolate to help my mood Smile then I must tidy the house ready for mw visit tomorrow morning. Think she'll book me in for inducing as well, but wonder whether bank holidays will affect that.

Keep cheerful everyone still waiting - at least we'll be first to give birth if we join the January threads Wink

GreenGeekGirl · 31/12/2010 05:29

Wow, what an amazing few days it's been! Henrietta (Hetty) Marion Arabella was born at 1.50am on 28th.

DH & I Cycled to the for monitoring on 27th when I was 40+15 expecting to be home again by lunchtime but the CTG was a bit odd so we agreed to being induced there and then. Had two pessaries that day, with not a sniff of a contraction. Next morning had prostin gel and then spent the day wandering round Bristol, which brought on mild contractions, and was generally quite lovely. Got back to the hospital about 5pm just when the contractions were getting more intense & went down to the delivery suite. Then the fun really began because they examined me & discovered that Hetty was trying to come out face first! They broke my waters and left me with my strong but irregular contractions until about 9pm, when they decided I needed to go on syntocin, at which point I got on the gas & air, which was pretty special. By 1am they had the drip ramped up so that my contractions had been full dilation strength for 2 1/2 hrs but I was still barely 3cm because of her presentation! I finally agreed to an emergency c-section because her heart rate wasn't looking good again. I joked to DH at the time that this was the doctor's goal as soon as she saw home birth in my notes. The operation was so quick & easy & I cried just before they brought her out because I was so excited about finally meeting her & with good reason. Like DF said, I was utterly unprepared for how intensely I would feel about her & I have turned I into a walking (hmm no mostly slouching) cliche of a new mum with a precious first born. She's just absolutely & quite literally awesome & I've been floating on air ever since!

Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin

MrsChris · 31/12/2010 10:11

Congratulations GGG - what a lovely story and it sounds like you dealt with it all admirably considering your actual birth was so different from what you'd planned.

Happy New Year for tonight Esian and I hope you enjoy your party. It sounds brilliant and I hope you find something to wear. I'm planning nothing more for today than a short walk, some cake and lots of crap TV (whilst wearing my uniform of leggings and biggest ever t shirt!).

Come on LO!!!! I'm ready for you now.

kellestar · 31/12/2010 13:17

Fab news on your new arrival GGG Henrietta is a lovely name (and is the name of our most mischevious chicken!) hope you have a lovely time settling in with your little one.

I can't believe Bea is 2 weeks old tomorrow!

maxpower · 31/12/2010 13:21

congratulations GGG take it easy and don't rush your recovery

happy birthday mrschris

DuelingFanjo · 31/12/2010 13:56

Congratulations GGGGrin what a great name. Can't believe you cycled to the hospital, go you! Typical isn't it that nothing goes to plan. I look at my birth plan and almost everything I didn't want to happen, did happen. But I honestly don't mind at all, not now I have my baby in my arms.

take care of yourself and enjoy every moment. Bob is home and I am so in love with him. He fed like crazy last night and refused to sleep unless he was in my arms or on me. I'm going to get him into a baby wrap/sling as soon as I can.

Wholelottalove · 31/12/2010 18:13

Congratulations GGG I love the name and glad you had a positive experience despite it being different from what you planned.

Happy Birthday to MrsChris and good luck and lots of labour vibes to those who are still waiting for their babies.

Lavitabellissima · 01/01/2011 01:06

Wow congratulations GGG! Loving the name and the fact you were still cycling, I'm am in absolute awe!

Happy birthday Mrs Chris

Kellestar, how many chickens do you have? My mum's are called Maud, Myrtille &Mildred Grin

MrsChris · 01/01/2011 14:10

Thanks for the birthday wishes. Had a very nice (quiet) day but unfortuntely no sign of LO!

Are those of us still pregnant going to stay on this thread or migrate to Jan 11 thread? Not sure what protocol dictates ;-)

Who else is left?!?!?

Lavitabellissima · 01/01/2011 14:46

Mrs Chris, I had my twins on the 4th Nov but I stayed with Dec, just felt like I didn't want to move.

Esian · 01/01/2011 15:36

Happy New Year everyone!

MrsChris I missed the party in the end because I was busy giving birth finally to Francesca Grin.
She was born at 3pm NY's eve and weighed 7lb 2oz's. Think the sweep on Wednesday did its job.
Just got home this afternoon and am still at the gazing in awe stage:)

Good luck to everyone still waiting and congratulations to GGG

Lavitabellissima · 01/01/2011 16:23

frankenfanny · 01/01/2011 18:21

Baby girl eventually turned up today all doing well more when we have all had some sleep.....Happy New Year everyone.

kellestar · 01/01/2011 18:42

Franken & Esian great news from you both. Get some rest and let us know how you are doing in due course.

Lavita we have 8 naughty bantam hens Cheep, Molly, Irma, Henrietta, Gracie, Psycho, Dotty & Ginger. At the peak we had 21 chickens but they've slowly whittled down to 8.

DuelingFanjo · 01/01/2011 19:57

Congratulations Esian and frankenfanny Grin
DH's mum and dad have been here all afternoon. Midwife came around one and gave me some fab advice on breastfeeding. Now have one very happy Bob and no bottles of expressed milk given since 5am. He sleeps a lot though which isn't what I expected at all. I forget that he's 11 days old already!

mumatron · 01/01/2011 21:50

aww df so glad you have bob at home. hows things with mil?

congrats to all who got their dec babies. i was due on 24th but lo is still refusing to make an appearance.

Strix · 02/01/2011 00:17

Eh? Move to jan thread? I think not! Please stay.

Lavita, do you fancy a west london meetup with babies? I am thinking maybe lunch in richmond/twickers whilst my older 2 are in school. Maybe pjen could join. And of course anyone else I w lon would be welcome.

Df, Glad bob is home now. And glad bf is going well.

GreenGeekGirl · 02/01/2011 13:47

Congratulation Esian & frankenfanny & welcome to your little ones :)

DF Very happy to hear Bob is home and feeding well. I re-read my birth plan yesterday but had to stop because I was in danger of bursting my stitches from laughing too much Wink

Best of wishes to everyone still awaiting & even more excited for you all now! x

Erm can anyone point me in the direction of the post-natal thread please? Confused

LittleB · 02/01/2011 14:01

congratulations esian, frankenfanny and ggg, so even though we didn't manage christmas eve or christmas day birthdays we have a new years eve and new years day birthday!

Lovely to hear bob is home and doing well, and thanks for the sympathies strix, we're feeling much better.
Hope the other babies on this thread arrive soon.
