Hi all,

Sorry to hear you're having such a rough time littleb, button and df, I really hope things are progressing for all of you, sending you love and strength x

My daughter was born at 2.53am on Saturday morning, she was 7llbs 14oz and we have called her Isabel, she s absolutely amazing in every way!

I'll post more later but the basics are I did go to my friend's wedding on Friday and my water's broke during the ceremony! I had had no indications prior to this and the cx didn't start for a while afterwards. So my advice for those of you wanting to move things along is to go to a wedding or other big event about an hour away from where you live!

We got home from the hospital yesterday after literally having to dig the car out of the snow in the hospital car park. After a pretty dicey journey back we are now cocooned up at home. DH has been amazing - walking to the shops for everything we need and generally looking after us.

Congratulations to maxpower and kellestar sorry if i've missed any other snow babies Xmas Grin

Wholelottalove · 21/12/2010 19:27

Hi, just popping in to say big congratulations to kittybump maxpower kellestar and reshape and I hope DF littleb and button are all ok and will be holding your new babies soon.

We've had a rough week, William didn't really establish BF well, although seemed to be getting knack of it had a very bad night on night 3 and by day 4 had lost just over 10% of his birth weight so we were sent into hospital to be checked. He was a little dehydrated so ended up staying overnight, then had to wait for ages for another blood test, then with the weather ended up staying second night. Back home now, he is feeding well from bottle with a little formula supplement. I think our BF relationship is scuppered, but glad he is ok. Still pumping to maintain supply and trying to work out where to go from here. Hopefullly will see everyone on the postnatal thread when things calm down here.

lee69 · 21/12/2010 21:17

Hi all, hey Button you and me are due the same day (26th), I was supposed to have a a section on the 17th due to my dc being transverse, dd3 was the same, so I had my mind set for the op, went to get bloods done on the 14th, and MW thought the wee one had turned Smile got a very quick scan and yep indeed the baby has turned and is now head down, and section was promptly cancelled!!! Not a twinge or contraction in sightShockand I am utterly fed up,cant sleep due to twitchy legs at night, cant get out because of the snow and SPD, and I just have a sneaky feeling this wee one will want to join us on christmas day.Confused.....hoping that out of all this I can have a much desired water birth Smile next check up Christmas Eve....my love to all out there festive wishes and kisses tooXmas Wink

LittleB · 21/12/2010 21:18

WLL sorry to hear you've had trouble feeding little william, hope things improve for you, I really struggled with my dd and gave up in the end, hoping to do better this time. Still no sign of ds turning up soon though, still having small contractions, but not doing much.
Congratulations reshape and kitty, lovely to have more babies!

LittleB · 21/12/2010 21:22

Hi lee, I'm due on the 26th too, but my dd was a week early and I had cervical treatment which I was told would mean my baby would probably be 2-3wks early (we were worried he would be prem for a while) but hes still hanging on in there! I wonder if any of us will have a Christmas Day baby!?
My next appt is for a sweep on the 30th.

laziness · 21/12/2010 23:57

congrats kellestar and Reshape :)

interesting birth stories :)
can't wait to share mine...the wait seems unending...:(
I'm due on 23rd Dec and no sign of any contractions till now...
I wonder how long first timers have to wait...
:(

By the way ladies..i need a suggestion.

I have been advised by a friend to get a front opening shirt for nursing while in the hospital..i thought it wasn't so necessary..but apparently it's a must have..
I have been looking online for something decent..but haven't come across anything..
Mothercare does nursing shirts which are all drop-clips..no front opens..
checked M&S, newlook, Next,and a few more...
any suggestions..?? would really appreciate it...

capricorn76 · 22/12/2010 09:47

Congrats to all of you who have already given birth. Hope you have the best Xmas's with your newborns. I'm really hoping to join you. I was due on the 18th and have bought the cutest Elf outfit for my DD to be to wear on Xmas Day!

I have a sweep booked for Friday - my birthday and am having my 2nd bout of Accupuncture with electrodes this week, tomorrow. I'm bouncing on my ball, drinking Raspberry Leaf Tea, walking loads. I'm trying so hard but nothing's happening!

bakingkeepsmesane · 22/12/2010 09:52

Lovely to read new babes news, well done! kellestar, we will name our next addition to our chickens after Beatrice! Our Gracie was only 5lb15oz; I think it seems like we got bonus time with her!

Lavitabellissima · 22/12/2010 16:12

laziness I bought a cheap nightie from primark, I'm struggling now to find any nice nursing tops, they are all ugly!

Lavitabellissima · 22/12/2010 17:10

Kittybump Congratulations!

GreenGeekGirl · 22/12/2010 17:49

Congratulations kittybump and family! :)

Good luck with your sweep capricorn76

I'm totally clueless about high street shops I'm afraid laziness and would usually suggest looking online but I guess you need them faster than can be delivered. Might be worth bearing in mind that one person's 'essential' is another's useless tat! Wink

Totally agree Lavita, especially as I'm trying to get organic fabric too - hurrumph!

40+9 today and went in to hopsital today for monitoring. My amniotic fluid levels are low, so booked in for induction on Friday, which scuppers both my home birth plans and Christmas at my mum's - boo! On the other hand it is exciting to think it will all happen so soon. They did a sweep today thought so hopefully it'll all kick off tonight. Please keep everything crossed for me!

frankenfanny · 22/12/2010 18:21

Good luck GGG I bet you can't wait to see your LO. At least you were favourable for a sweep - I am 40 + 10 but they are not able to do a sweep so I am going in for monitoring once I am past 14 days over and possibly induction.

I am not surprised to be late but it is awful having to wait. Sympathies to anyone else in this position.

Strix · 22/12/2010 19:59

Hello. Can't believe it's almost Christmas. I have been so focussed on pregnancy and baby that actually I feel like the big event is over and and have to kick myself to remember to excited about Christmas. Luckily DH carries enough Christmas enthusiasm for the both of us.

I agree that breastfeeding top/pyjamas is a good thing for hospital, if you might be there for a few days. Hospital gowns are a real pain because you have to undo the whole thing in the back and flash your tits to all of sundry.

I got some breqstfeeding pyjamas on ebay, but you might not have time for that. Even a big shirt that buttons down the front would be better than a hospital gown.

laziness · 22/12/2010 20:49

thanks for the suggestions Lavita GGG and Strix :) really appreciate it...
and I totally agree GGG that one person's must-have is a total waste for another...
the friend who suggested getting a nursing top had to stay in hospital for 8 days...probably thats y she suggested it...i so hope that doesn't happen to me.. :(
I will probably just get an ordinary front open buttoned top...:)
good luck capricorn and GGG
look forward to hearing ur good news soon :)
I guess I will be around for the time being...

am due date tomorrow..literally no signs of any contractions...:(

maxpower · 22/12/2010 21:17

congratulations kitty

good luck GGG, fingers crossed for you

MrsSnaplegs · 22/12/2010 23:40

GGG instead of BFing tops I just wear pyjama tops at night or a nightshirt (Tesco and Asda have a few brushed cotton ones - not organic though!) and in the day an old TShirt under a big cardi so can lift shirt then pull cardi across or a normal shirt - try one of your DP/DH shirts or see if your dad has any old ones!!

laziness · 22/12/2010 23:44

hey
found a nice nursing top at kiddicare's site..for all those interested...

laziness · 22/12/2010 23:48

MrsSnaplegs I really like ur idea of wearing a big shirt and a cardi...thanks :)

P.S: squatting right now Xmas Hmm

ButtonAzure · 23/12/2010 09:40

Hello... have had a crazy couple of days but happy, resulting in a child!

Went in for attempt at a sweep on Tusesday at 1.30, Midwife managed to get though this time as had (finally) started to dialate.
However she discovered that LO was breech Shock had been being told head down, fully engaged since 35 weeks!!!!

Elodie was born by C section just a couple of hours later. She weighed 8lb, and we were both allowed home yesterday evening. Very very happy :) ..Just so relieved that my extended 17 days of latent labour is over!

MrsSnaplegs · 23/12/2010 09:59

button woohoo! Congratulations! bet you are glad that is over - 17 days is epic and good job you went for that sweep! Elodie is a lovely name.

BFing tops - ggg And laziness the other option for shirts is charity Shop - will get you thro first couple of weeks until snow has gone and internet suppliers can deliver again.

GreenGeekGirl · 23/12/2010 10:07

Congratulations button! You must be so relieved for it to over & to have finally met your LO :)

I am a bit cross with the hospital. They told me yesterday that they wanted to induce me tomorrow (at 40+12) because my amniotic fluid levels are low. I've been reading up about it & got suspicious when I read this has been used as an excuse before to demand inductions, so I checked my notes against the charts & I'm still within normal levels! Admittedly low but still normal! Considering the risks of induction (eg doubling risk of c section, for example) and the fact that baby seems completely fine, this does not seem reasonable. I think they just saw 'home birth' on my notes and assumed I'd be difficult about being induced. This is exactly the sort of thing that makes people not trust medical staff. Grrr! Angry

capricorn76 · 23/12/2010 10:13

Good luck GGG and congratulations Button, that's a nice healthy baby you have there and I love the name. You must be so happy to have your baby with you for Xmas Day.

With regards to front buttoning tops. Tesco's do good front buttoning flannel nightshirts for about £10.

My friend, who was due 2 days after me,just texted me to say she had a show yesterday and her contractions have started. I'm ashamed to say that my first response was to start crying as I'm 40+5 and haven't had so much as a twinge. I'm very happy for her though, just being a bit of a jealous baby.

Lavitabellissima · 23/12/2010 10:33

Congratulations Button pretty name , enjoy your snugly newborn Xmas Grin

I hope all is going ok for DF no news for a while, lets hope she had a snugly baby too and updates later.

I wonder if we'll have any Xmas day babies?

Wholelottalove · 23/12/2010 10:43

congrats button wow 17 days, poor you. make sure you get lots of rest.

laziness · 23/12/2010 15:13

congratulations buttons
GGG it's good u didn't totally rely on the info provided by the hospital...I am so annoyed with my midwife..shes a young girl..who doesn't tell me anything ever except that my BP is 'fine' and the baby is 'fine'...
I have to rely on google to learn about labour exercises etc and other stuff...

I'm due today..and the annoying phone calls have started coming in..it's so difficult to keep a straight tone..I've been telling people..I want to get it over with more than u..so if there's a news I'll tell u!!Angry
and ppl on my facebook have been wishing me luck since morning as if I'm going for a marathon today!!

Anyway, thanks for the suggestions about the BFing tops..
my DH went to M&S yesterday and got me two very nice front opening buttoned shirts..I would have never spent so much money on BFing tops had I gone myself! but he didn't let me get out of the house as the roads r still quite slippery in this area..
anyway, I'm happy with my tops :)
