moomin156 · 27/11/2010 17:04

Evening everyone........had a really unproductive day. Went to a charity darts do last night and unfortunately got to the final (which i lost) but didnt get too bed until 01:30........today i have been soooo tired that i have hardly moved off the sofa. Think the lack of alcohol will have helped my coordination as i am usually rubbish at darts!

As for names......its so difficult. We like
Florence (annoyed David Cameron called his daughter)
Iris
Martha
Bessie

George
Alfred ( Alfie or Freddy)
Matthew

I am sure they will change many times....i think we will have a list and then decide when we see the bean

cep · 27/11/2010 17:09

according to the bounty pack website there are 5 packs
pack one from professional at 12 week appointment
pack 2 from sainsburys or boots
pack 3 labour ward
pack 4 maternity ward
pack 5 from sainsburys or boots.

mn2 i don't think i could do that either i know some people can change their mind after giving birth, but it takes us soooo long to come up with 1 name we both like it'd take us forever afterwards.

NurseSunshine · 27/11/2010 17:12

You play darts moomin? I'm impressed! Well done for getting to the final. I really like Iris, I'm still umming and ahhing about putting it on my list actually. Alfie is really cute.

MummyN2 (are you called that cuz you're a stepmum btw?) your DSD is indeed very wise. In fact I have to say I'm doubting I'll ever do it again, and I didn't even get BAD ms really.

Thanks for the link MOsnorts. I'm going to go to an NCT meeting thing in Jan that's about HBs. I really don't want to go to hospital.

NurseSunshine · 27/11/2010 17:13

PS I have now been asked TWICE if the baby was planned! I didn't think anyone could ever be so rude! Maybe it's because I'm younger, but even so I find it extremely distasteful and quite shocking.

moomin156 · 27/11/2010 17:16

nurse no i dont play darts.....it was a charity darts night and a non darts player ( ie me) was teamed with a darts player.....but saying that i did hit the board nearly every time and even hit a treble 20 once LOL

NurseSunshine · 27/11/2010 17:35

Well that's even more impressive then :)

Mummynumber2 · 27/11/2010 18:23

nursesunshine people can be so rude can't they, it's like when you're pregnant you become public property! Mummy number 2 is something my dsc's sometimes refer to me as (more mum no 2 nowadays though!). I'm seriously thinking I'll only have 1 too, lucky I have my dsc's so it won't be an only child!

I've had more heavyish bleeding Angry. I'm not even sure whether it's worth contacting anyone about it. Mw said I should go to a and e if any more ( don't think ivf unit will take me any more as I think I've been discharged and am over 12 weeks now). Dp won't be back till this evening and I don't want to worry dsd.

NurseSunshine · 27/11/2010 18:31

Oh dear, I'm not sure what to suggest. If the MW said go to a&e then maybe best to do what she said? Have you called your DP to see what he thinks?

Mummynumber2 · 27/11/2010 18:58

Due to the kind of work dp does I won't be able to get hold of him for an hour or so unless it's an absolute emergency, which it isn't. I'm really not sure what they will be able to do at a and e to be honest. I'll go tomorrow if I'm still bleeding then. I've been here too many times to be too worried now Sad.

NurseSunshine · 27/11/2010 19:08

OK MN2. Just take it easy tonight and I'm sure tomorrow everything will be fine. x

Mummynumber2 · 27/11/2010 19:19

Thanks nurses. I'm sure everything's fine too. Just wish it would stop now! Parked myself on sofa in frount of strictly followed by x factor and have no plans to move for quite a while Smile

catherineps · 27/11/2010 20:00

sounds like a good plan :)

mrsbigw · 27/11/2010 20:19

Hi all hope everyone is OK tonight.

mummy2 I hope it settles down then you can relax & enjoy the rest of your evening.

Nurse I was asked by my business advisor who I don't know at all in a personal sense whether my pregnancy was planned in an email she sent me... the mind boggles at where these people learned (or failed to learn) their manners. I do think the woman in the gym changing rooms who asked me whether all my children have the same father takes the biscuit though. Plain nosey.

I think we will seriously think about names when we find out sex of baby. My friend who is very intuitive & has very accurate dreams dreamt I was having a boy last night, watch this space & we will see! Totally understand those who choose to wait until birth to find out the sex though.

looseleaf · 27/11/2010 20:34

hello everyone! This is a long thread so I don't know how much I'll be able to follow but am thrilled to join you after 3 years ttc. We already had one scan at 4 weeks or so and it was amazing to see a heartbeat.
I keep wondering about baby's sex/ names and it's such a special time having both possibilities iyswim! We have 1dd and found out her sex as the doc forgot we'd asked for a surprise and said 'look at her arms moving'. We're hoping to find out this time anyway to help dd get used to the idea.
Anyway, I look forward to joining in when can and hope everyone keeping well

cameli · 27/11/2010 20:37

MN2 i've had brown bleeding 4 or 5 days every week from 4 weeks, 3 scans at EPU & 1 private scan & they still don't know why. Have even gone without sex for a couple of weeks but that made no difference. Mine hasn't been as bad as yours by the sounds of it but i am 14 weeks today & my nuchal scan last Monday was fine. Fx everything is fine.

I love some of the names you ladies have mentioned but my dp has the shittiest surname in the world & nothing seems to work. As i believe im having a boy we have kind of decided on Harry George even though both names are very popular.
Haven't really made any decision on girls name because everything I like he says no. We have agreed to make Eliabeth a middle name if possible.

My choices for a girl are :-
Madison Isla
Matilda
Tabitha

And for a boy:-
Oscar
Noah
Henry

I told my 14 year old DS last night & he wasn't amused although he does seem happier about it today. Big shock for him as it's just been us two for 10 years....
He just needs time to get used to it. He has asked if we can call it Dexter!

Gonna tell sis, bro's & dad this week....eeeek - not looking forward to it.

looseleaf · 27/11/2010 20:39

mummy2 I do hope you're ok. I bled for 2 or 3 months during my first pregnancy (and a lot) and had to stay horizontal or it'd start again. I'll never know why and yet we ended up with our perfect dd. I really do hope all ok and thinking of you

Mummynumber2 · 27/11/2010 20:50

Thanks guys, it's all getting a bit boring now! It's amazing how common bleeding is though.

Hello and welcome to the thread looseleaf. My bleeding is much better when I'm laying down too. I just don't get a huge amount of time to do that. I think I over did it today (shopping trip with dsd followed by bit of housework). I'm thinking if taking next week off work Sad.

8rubberduckies · 27/11/2010 20:58

Hope you're okay as well MN2 and your bleeding has calmed down.

8rubberduckies · 27/11/2010 21:00

Oops X post

BarbieLovesKen · 27/11/2010 21:05

Nurse thanks for your views on names. Your right about Jack in Ireland, I dont know many but just looked up central statistics and apparantly was number one in 2009 here. Funny. They must all be hiding from me. Dont know why Im letting this influence me, generally dont give a damn how "common" a name is. Im in the if you like it, you name your child it camp end of. That said, the thoughts of 7 in his class is slightly bugging me and the fact that whoever I mention it to makes an awful face and says Nooo. again, I shouldnt care. We both do love the name most and tbh, are only looking for another boy's name because of the above stupid reasons. Anyway, I digress...

Some gorgeous names have been mentioned on here.. in particular (that sticks out in my mind), although many wouldnt suit us, our surname, other DCs names, Im really, really loving: (sorry would have taken me all day to reply to each so cant remember whos is whos)

Charlie
Tess Edith
Lucas James (absolutely stunning name!!)
Arlo
Ruby
Juliette
Jude
Florence
George
Alfie (gorgeous but dont like Alfred shortened to Freddie if Im honest)
Matthew (this is DS's middle name!)
Matilda
Tabitha
Noah
Henry

All gorgeous!! (IMO)

Anyway, Nurse cannot believe you were asked was your baby planned Shock who the hell are these people?? how would anyone think thats ok to ask?

Mummy2 I really hope your ok. Im absolutely sure everything is ok with baby with all you've been experiencing but it just doesnt seem fair that this keeps happening to you and is understandably unsettling.

Looseleaf Huge welcome and congratulations! Smile looking forward to getting to "know" you over the next couple of months.

Im another that couldnt name baby once its here, I need months to prepare and think of names as Id doubt myself so much and wonder was it hormones or am I making a mistake.. but then, to be honest, Im a bit nuts really Grin

DH is out gigging tonight. DD and DS (poor snuffly DS) are in bed so think Ill join them and watch desperate housewives box set in bed Grin

Know this was done but meant to add regarding the dos and dont guidelines - With dd (number 1) I didnt eat most cheese, nuts, raw/ undercooked anything etc... I was very by the book.

By the time I was having DS most of the guidelines had changed and I was allowed most things - I ate smoked salmon quite a bit and am doing the same this time round - plus slightly runny eggs etc..

Im taking a lot of it with a pinch of salt without being completely reckless at the same time. I choose not to drink alcohol at all for the nine months but thats about it!.

Regarding surnames, personally I took DH's name and our DC have his name too. I would regard myself as being in the femisist camp too but to me, its all about choice. As some have said it was between keeping my father's name or taking my DH's and to be honest, my dad was a very nasty, abusive man so it was no contest. I also wanted our entire little family to have the same name I wanted the same as my children and if Id chosen to keep mine and give DC mine, didnt feel it was very fair on DH. To be honest, personally, I dont like the whole double barreling. I think it can get very messy and long winded and am always thinking of the practicalities i.e. if the child wanted to give their child a double name too.. Anyway, each to their own! Smile

Am really off to bed. Night all x

Which is nicer? Gabrielle or Gabriella? (or neither?)

OP posts:
milliemuffin · 27/11/2010 23:08

Barbie Lucas James is my DS so Thankyou very much :) We've only come across one other Lucas in the last 3 and a half years and he goes to DD's baby group so has just turned 1.

I always think Gabrielle is more English sounding than Gabriella but that's just my opinion, both are lovely :)

milliemuffin · 27/11/2010 23:11

Thing is though, as much as I love Lucas's name, nothing else comes even close so that's why I'm praying for a girl to go with Jasmine xx

Balletpink · 27/11/2010 23:19

Hello, all! Good to see we are mostly all ok, although if I've missed any sad news I'm sorry (hard to catch up with all the posts).

Loving the baby names debates & great to hear of the good scan news.

Petitech I think your 12w scan looks like a girl! Smile I have an totally unscientific method of deduction (it's really very rubbish) but it's been right on more occasions than not!
