Welcome Welcome Kelli22.

Mummyhill - how awful for you. How I hate those snooty types of medical staff. I'm glad DD was OK.

Redhelen · 26/09/2005 19:40

Well done Daisydot on the arrival of Grace Olivia. Glad you c-section stiches are settling - mine are playing up and I must confess I was more comfortable whilst pregnant!

Mummyhill - what a scary evening for you - hope all is well now.

Take care all - I sence a baby being born this very evening????

singleteenagemum · 26/09/2005 19:52

RH - i think we're all wishing that. it's not coming from me though Tomorrow should definately bring about one if not more with 4of us going for sweeps.

Mummyhill glad everything was ok in the end.

Hope everyone is getting on fine with their new bundles

franch · 26/09/2005 19:55

Big welcome to the new babes and huge hugs to those still waiting. If anyone's interested I finally got round to writing up the 2nd half of my birth story here .

nicksptw · 26/09/2005 20:49

Just a quickie from an occasional visitor. Baby Abgail Rose was born on the 20th (see Sept stats) - along with a few others by the looks of things ! 10 days early, the labour was relatively short - minor contractions built up during the day, waters broke at 3.45pm, in hospital by 4-ish and Abigail born at 6.40pm, with just entenox (didn't work again...). Had to have stitches this time which was horrific, worse than the birth, although the entenox worked nicely here thank you ! I cried afterwards and the MW said, 'oh the gas and air has that effect sometimes...'. Well, having someone faffing around my nether regions for half an hour with a needle and thread does it for me I'm afraid. So pleased it's over and done with, and Abigail is a beautiful chilled baby (so far). Good luck to those still waiting - it'll be over soon !

Kiwifruit · 26/09/2005 21:14

Congratulations Nicksptw !!

Poor you and dd Mummyhill - I was hospitalised with croup when I was little, so can't see how the doctor could think it was a waste of time going to A & E!

Franch - it might not have been quite the birth you were after, but that is a great birth story!!

Fingers crossed for all those having sweeps tomorrow - here's to hoping that we've all popped by the weekend .

Think Katts must have finally delivered, as she hasn't posted since Saturday....

mummyhill · 26/09/2005 21:35

Congratulations nick - Welcome Abigail Rose

andif · 26/09/2005 21:58

Congratulations to Daisydot and nicksptw.
Daisydot - didn't have a chance to check out whether you were at Kingston while I was there - too desperate to get home!! A relief to hear Grace arrived safely, as there seemed to be emergencies left right and centre while I was there!!

singleteenagemum · 26/09/2005 22:03

lets hope we're all as quick as you franch!

where's JM got to? i reckon she popped in her sleep

How you getting on KF?

mymama · 27/09/2005 00:32

jessysmummy perhaps if dd doesn't contract chickenpox this time you might consider getting her vaccinated and then you won't have to worry at all.

Kiwifruit · 27/09/2005 09:22

Still here STM, but wondering if things might start happening soon, as have diaorrhea (sorry if TMI) - isn't that supposed to be a sign? Hopefully the acupuncture this afternoon will really get things started.

Take it the bumpy tractor ride on the weekend didn't work? Fingers crossed the sweep today will have you running to the labour ward!!

Rhumba · 27/09/2005 09:36

well the second installment was worth waiting for Franch! My pal in NZ had her baby last week in the bathroom and I'm still waiting for the details!

Good Luch all those others being swept today. Mine is at 2.00 (after my wax and pedicure!!)not that optimistic as not due til Thursday and have little cofidence in my ability to go into labour in a timely manner.

Congrats to the new babies and hope MH's DD is better. Would always be over cautous with breathing difficulties (which I don't think you were being!)

bubbles2904 · 27/09/2005 09:42

good morning everyone, good luck with all the sweeps, i'm on the edge of my seat waiting for news.
jm, i think you popped last night, i've got my fingers crossed for you.
franch, wow, i wish my second birth was as good a experience as yours was, i'm still traumatised even now.
congratulations nicksptw

bubbles2904 · 27/09/2005 09:43

ps, welcome kelli, glad you joined

kelli22 · 27/09/2005 10:05

im quite looking forward to my sweep- sounds odd but i just wanna meet my baby, i was up last night having pains but nothing came of it so im really hoping that it will push things along and this baby will have arrived by tomorrow (plz plz) and if not then i will have an induction date to aim for - im not 40+5 so surely something has to happen i should be holding my baby this time next week...........

hows everyone else doing?

jessysmummy · 27/09/2005 10:14

Morning ladies!! Sorry to disappoint you Bubbles and STM - I'm still here, very much with bump!
MW just been and completed a sweep - cervix is soft but still a bit thick but since this is #2 she could manage to reach the membrane. Slight period pains and feeling very queasy but nothing else to report ATM. Am intending to keep on the move all day today to try and shift something. Have another one booked for Friday if nothing has happened by then.
Good luck STM, Rhumba and Kelli (welcome) with your sweeps today. Sending favourable cervix vibes your way!
KF - hope the acupuncture has the desired effect, too!
Mummyhill - you definitely did the right thing with getting DD to hospital, esp since she is asthmatic. How rude of the doctor to dismiss your concerns. My DB ended up in hospital wth Croup for about a week when he was about 6, and he's never suffered from asthma.
CONGRATULATIONS nicksptw - another beautiful little girl!
mymama - didn't know you could vaccinate against chickenpox??
Am off to read Franch's birth story and then jiggle about some more until this baby comes!

beatie · 27/09/2005 10:15

Congratulations Nick - I had my baby girl on the 20th too. We have a lot of girls popping out this September don't we?

"MW said, 'oh the gas and air has that effect sometimes...'. Well, having someone faffing around my nether regions for half an hour with a needle and thread does it for me I'm afraid" Midwives say the funniest things

mymama · 27/09/2005 10:18

jessysmummy you can get chickenpox vacc over 12 months.

jessysmummy · 27/09/2005 10:23

OMG Franch! Wow...can't get Bizet's "Carmen" out of my head now after that story- very dramatic. How amazing. Well done. And what a star your DH was (and DD1 too). Just going to scrub the bathroom now so suitable for my half hour labour and rescue by 3 burley ambulance men!

jessysmummy · 27/09/2005 10:24

Thanks mymama, didn't know that.

LadyLazarus · 27/09/2005 10:47

just popping in to wish all those still waiting a big 'hurry up'! look like katts might have given birth by now ...

singleteenagemum · 27/09/2005 10:50

Morning all,

JM glad your sweep went ok...at least they could find your cervix...i;m still not impressed by my mw on Saturday

got really bad cramp this morning, along with sickness...is it a sign?? Got to wait ages till my sweep grrrrr....

Hope everyone elses are going fine.

Positive thinknig now gone out the window and i feel like an awful mother, resenting my baby already for not coming to sy hello.

beatie · 27/09/2005 10:57

My midwife advised me to go for a walk 2 hours after the sweep was performed. Thought I'd pass on those words of wisdom incase you get different advice. For me it changed the cramps into contractions.

kelli22 · 27/09/2005 11:36

Thanks Beatie, i've got my sweep at 2.30 so thats helpful to know, i hope i get a nice mw today. im also going to get a birthing ball from argos - do you think i could just sit on that instead of going for a walk, im not much of a walking person lol

Redhelen · 27/09/2005 11:53

Good luck with the sweeps!!
