Boris aargh! And you all psyched up! That's such a mindf*ck. All sympathy.

Vix hope poppet well and you home soon.

PrivetDancer · 05/11/2010 19:14

Boris that is gutting, but hopefully you'll get a nice calm but quick birth in return!

Just realised that next Friday is 12/11/10, that sounds like a cool date of birth :-)

Boris What a little monster! I suspect my little darling may have a similar manoeuvre in mind. We shall see.
Consultant cheerfully told me that if on 16 she flips we cancel the ELCS but... that quite a few of those who flip late manage to flip back to breech before delivery so they will be checking me out thoroughly if I come in in labour....
Good luck hanging in there in the meantime. On the positive note natural way means shorter recovery time and none of the "do not bend down under any circumstances" jazz.

Vix hope you can both go home soon - are there any nice places near the hospital that do take away? DH already knows a big part of his job will be feeding me after the deed is done

smokeybacon · 05/11/2010 19:45

Hi all. Not had time to catch up but will try as am now in hospital as admitted due to the high bp and a little bit of protein in my see. Am booked now for induction tomorrow!

Will try to catch up but if not congrats to any new mummies and hope everyone else doing ok.

b00kw0rm · 05/11/2010 20:06

Sorry I haven't had time to read through- baby James was born at home after quick 5 hour labour on Tuesday 2nd at 39+4. Labour was great, although scarily quick- MW only arrived 40 minutes before baby did...
We've been struggling with feeding since- James seemed too sleepy and mucousy to suck for the first day or two, so I was expressing and feeding him from a spoon, but he's finally decided to start sucking and has been making up for it with near constant feeding today!

Hope everyone's OK and good luck to impending mummies too
xx

JFly · 05/11/2010 21:07

Congrats, bookworm and welcome to James!

Boris, that is so shocking! Is it you who has had another CS before? I'm surprised they didn't just do the op if you also have PE and so close to EDD. Is this hospital protocol? Anyway, I hope that you avoid the theatre next week, regardless of type of delivery! (I'm a bit scared of forceps, TBH Blush).

Hope other babies (in and out) are behaving.

cluelessnchaos · 05/11/2010 21:15

Congratulations bookworm, really pleased you had s nice labour experience, that is one of my shortlisted names as well.

Boris I can't imagine how frustrating that was, real mixed feelings but after a vd I am sure you will be really relieved to not have had to have cs.

rollerbaby · 05/11/2010 21:35

Hi guys - I've been lurking I'm afraid but have finally just had a bit of show so very much hoping that I've not long to wait now. Having a medicinal glass of wine and then bed....

how much show is there IYSWIM and how long does it last?

umf · 05/11/2010 21:55

honeymoo this is almost certainly TMI, but for me last time the show looked pretty much exactly like a beadlet sea anenome (www.glaucus.org.uk/Beadlets043.jpg)! The ones you see in rock pools on the south coast. I was so astonished by the resemblance that I showed DH - I think it was the worst moment of the whole labour for him.

Congratulations bookworm and good luck tomorrow smokey!

I'm trying to work out whether I'm in labour or whether it's a false alarm. DH is inflating birthpool, I'm going to bed.

Vix7 · 06/11/2010 02:06

Nicely done bookworm!! 5h!

Qn: what's your secret trick to getting your LO to bf?
I'm still struggling to get her to even latch. Hv had to supplement w formula which is far fr ideal for me.

Loooopy · 06/11/2010 02:27

Full details when allowed home but Daniel was born 7.49am 5/11 8lb 3 1/2 oz by emergency C section....home birth went wrong...baby fine and apart from being tender I'm ok....he is feeding and sleeping like an angel x

celestinelass · 06/11/2010 06:47

Hello all x

Congratulations to all the new mummies :)

Bit scary to hear how many have gone not great.

My DD is today and I've been in labour since 10am last night!!

Still at home as contractions staying 10 mins apart, haven't slept at all..........ouuuuchh bear with me a sec......

and relax and breathe.....

O/H has slept through whole thing so far, collapsed around 2am!

Been on the sitting room floor on all 4s most of the night!

Will update if anything develops.

Best of luck to all about to pop xx

Wallace · 06/11/2010 06:48

lainey1981 · 06/11/2010 07:48

massive congratulations to all the new mummies, and good luck to those in labour now, keep us posted!

cluelessnchaos · 06/11/2010 08:53

Goooo celestinelass, hope you managed to get some sleep and something to eat as well.

hmmSleep · 06/11/2010 10:26

Good Luck with induction smokeybacon.

Go celestinelass, hope things speed up soon!

Congratulations on baby James Bookworm, baby Einar Fenouille and baby Daniel Loooopy (sorry homebirth didn't go well). Hope I haven't missed anyone, it's all kicked off!!

Sorry to hear baby has infection and isn't feeding well Vix, hopefully it'll be sorted and you'll be home soon. Have you tried lots of skin to skin to try and get her to latch?

Boris, good that baby has turned, but must be very frustrating for you! Hope all goes smoothly from now on.

Gemjar · 06/11/2010 11:22

Congratulations everyone who has made it, although I am very Envy

I need labour-y thoughts from everyone, I am due tomorrow and would really love to have a baby at some point this weekend Smile

Nothing seemed to work to get DS1 started last time though, so I am not holding too much hope, at least i've definitely only got another couple of weeks at the most to wait.

Off to inflate the birthing ball....

hmmSleep · 06/11/2010 14:45

Have given up with moses basket and in desperation have ordered one of these co-sleepers. Keep your fingers crossed for me that it'll make a difference, I need some sleep!

Rinnyx · 06/11/2010 14:58

congrats once again to any new mums, I did read who had poped but that was on my phone so I forget, forgive me for the none personal congrats Blush
Also hope things speed up and LO is with you soon celestinelass

My DS still shows no signs of saying hello and its driving me nuts, will be 40 weeks Monday :(
Yesterday was DP's 30th and even tho I know I would of been no help going out to help him work I felt bad and now he wont be going on his trip to HK I feel really bad, bla curse you pg hormones Angry
Plus our sofa went yesterday, we sold it on e-bay and now I just have the floor to sit on Hmm til the new one arrives which could be any time up to first week of Dec, what fools me and DP are Grin

Mibby · 06/11/2010 16:14

Congratulations to all the latest arrivals :)

Same Due Date as me Rinnyx, why are we still waiting?! Its just not FAIR! :( Envy

Fingers crossed they both turn up asap

celestinelass · 06/11/2010 16:27

Grrrrr.........now been having regular painful contractions for 16-18 hrs. No sleep save some 20min catnaps.

10 mins apart 40 seconds long. REALLY regular save three periods when it ebbed off for about 40mins.

I can handle the contractions, they're painful but predictable and I can breathe through them just.

How long will this go on for!? Midwife doesn't want me in till they are 5mins apart.

Waters haven't gone.

DP's birthday today....he's having a fab time getting his hand crushed, making tea, timing the contractions and not able to touch a drop of booze!

He's being great.....now he's awake lol!

umf · 06/11/2010 17:16

celestinelass that sounds very tiring indeed. Would midwife consider breaking waters?

Rinnyx · 06/11/2010 17:26

Sorry to hear things have not relly moved on celestinelass still keeping my fingers crossed for you.
I'd say if its still the same after 20 hours demand you go in and been seen.

So Mibby is the race on to see who will pop first? haha, I feel like I'll still be waiting this time next week :(

umf · 06/11/2010 17:43

Sorry celestine I mean doing a sweep, not breaking waters! That helped a friend of mine who was having v drawn out but painful prelabour, finally got things going properly.

Here contractions have restarted this evening, after a walk. But still not sure it's the real thing.

bunnygirl80 · 06/11/2010 20:33

Congratulations fen bookworm and loopy

Good luck with your incudtion smokey

boris how annoying being all ready for your cs and discovering LO has turned. I hope LO stays head down and you get a nice straightforwards labour

celestine hopefully things get a move on soon. TBH after nearly a full day of regular contractions and little rest I'd probably just turn up at the hospital and demand to at least have my progress assessed

I'm only 38+2 but I'm getting really impatient now. Very little sign that anything's about to happen though - I still haven't really had many BH's. Am aiming for a 12/11/10 baby though, so he can hang on till Friday, then I want him to come out asap Smile
