Celestinelass Sorry to hear you're not able to get any sleep! With my DS, I was having contractions similar to yours (for about 36 hours - sorry!) and was also told not to go in until they were 5 mins apart and "very painful". Not having a frame of reference for "very painful", I didn't realise how close I was to stage 2 (my contractions didn't get to 5 mins apart until the very last few), which is why I ended up having an unintended (but lovely) home birth. If you feel as if you need to be in hospital, it's probably worth going, before you get to the stage where you can't bear the thought of getting out to the car except on your hands and knees! Good luck!

Mibby · 06/11/2010 21:48

Celestinelass hope things get moving soon

Rinnyx have been for long walk this afternoon, just back from large curry and tried ...ahem Blush this morning so Im hoping for something to happen soon

comtessa · 06/11/2010 23:42

Congratulations b00kworm and welcome to the world baby James!

And congratulations to loooopy and little Daniel - welcome!

Smokeybacon hope your induction went well and you have two lovely little babies with you by now. Or very soon!

Celestine no words of wisdom to offer, I'm afraid as I'm a first-timer, just hope that things move along before you get too exhausted.

No news here, except that our new bed FINALLY gets delivered on Tuesday and I will no longer have to sleep on a mattress on the floor. Or more importantly, not have to get up six times a night from said mattress on said floor.

Hope everyone else is feeling well and had some lovely sunshine today.

Rinnyx · 07/11/2010 11:27

Hope one of them things helps Mibby I have tried them all to as well as pineapple, kiwi and that tea but nothing.
I have a feeling he's going to have to be pulled out, lazy little sod Grin
DD couldnt wait to get out tho.

Glad you are finally getting your bed comtessa we are bums on floor till our new sofa turns up which could be as late as first week of December Shock

Mibby · 07/11/2010 11:39

None of it worked RinnyX :( Ive been taking the tea too

Glad your bed is on its way Comtessa, sleeping on the floor must be really uncomfortable

Hope things are going/ have gone well celestinelass

Jenni363 · 07/11/2010 14:57

Well my due date has finally arrived. Just back from a long walk, very tired..

Not even a slightest sign of a labor starting... Don't even know if the baby's head is engaged or not... Gotta try to be patient... Smile

CardiCorgi · 07/11/2010 15:12

Congratulations Fenouille B00kworm and Looopy

Due today and absolutely nothing is happening :( Just been for a 10km walk and whilst bump feels a bit tight, I can't feel anything in my back, so I think it doesn't count.

DH is very busy at work next week, so I assume that baby means to create maximum disruption.
Started maternity leave on Friday, it've very strange to think that I won't be working again until April next year.

harmonyb23 · 07/11/2010 17:43

Congrats to anyone who has popped since the last time I came online!

Hope things are moving on for you Celestinelass sounds very frustrating, not to mention painful!

Things are going well with baby Aiden, he just won't stop feeding at the moment so I am getting extremely tired and a little bit sore now! My wound, however, is now practically completely healed and I have been out for a walk today, not the first one since the caesarian but the first walk where DP has allowed me to push the buggy. It was nice to get out of the house and go for a walk around the park whilst DS played in the park.

Hope everyone is well.

Sabie · 07/11/2010 20:15

Quick post; CONGRATULATIONS to all those with babies! Can't believe how many since I last checked.

Was wondering does anyone else get a sharp pain low down which makes them stop moving? Its like baby is pushing on very sore spot?

CardiCorgi I am very impressed with 10k walk. I could have done that 2 weeks ago but not now!

Rinnyx · 07/11/2010 20:15

Sorry to hear things are still a no go Mibby
I think I am just going to give up now and see if I make it to next Monday when I have to see the MW again, told DP he has to come along to this app as we will have to sort out time and date to start me off :(

Glad to hear your doing well harmonyb23 :)

FourEyesGood · 07/11/2010 20:37

Sabie I get that too - makes me stop and go "Oooh!" which never fails to make DH look a bit alarmed. Grin I assume it's just baby pressing on a sensitive area; it doesn't really feel like contractions or anything.

rollerbaby · 07/11/2010 20:43

yes that;s the baby's head on your cervix - good sign as will get things going!

Quick update from me - baby nice and low, sweep performed this morning and 1-2cms dilated already...

Bleeding and cramps all afternoon so won't be long!

Mibby · 07/11/2010 20:49

Interesting re baby's head on cervix - I'm getting that too

Good Luck Honeymoo

comtessa · 07/11/2010 21:13

sabie me too. Right at the front just above my groin (if that's not TMI...). Likewise v.impressed at Cardicorgi's 10k walk!

Great to hear you're healing so well harmonyb23.

Any update on celestinelass?

Latest pregnarage incident: Well, I really had to keep a lid on it today when my friend's husband called me Mum. And he's about my dad's age which made it slightly creepy too. But they are lovely people usually so I had to just bite my tongue.

Yesterday's random shop assistant was not so lucky. I was in Bodyshop in the city centre and so far I had had two people try and sell me something (it's not even that big a store!) when a third came up to me and said: "I'm not being rude or anything but when are you due?" So I told her "about three weeks" and turned away again. She then asked me if it was a boy or girl at which point I said: "Look, I don't want to talk to you about this as I have enough questions from people I actually know." Which may seem quite gentle but I was really seething. And now I write it down it seems like such a minor thing to get mad about! Anyway, the moral I take from the story is: I must not go into town on Saturday afternoons anymore as it's too busy and I'm too hormonal.
Alternatively I just need to respond: "No no, I'm just very, very fat. How rude of you to point it out" :o
Hormones, pah.

Anyway, hope everyone is doing well and being far more serene and less narky than me. My poor DH Blush

comtessa · 07/11/2010 21:15

PS X-post - hope everything's going well honeymoo!!

JFly · 07/11/2010 21:43

Ah yes, head on cervix. Soon, it will be an effort just putting one foot in front of the other. It really does feel like the thing's about to fall out.

Had a fun few hours early this morning. Many cx quite intense. Even grabbed dh's phone to start timing. Then, after about 2 hrs tapered off and could fall back asleep.

Sadly, think this could go on for the next few weeks. Only 36+5. Will despair if it does keep happening. Still, hasa inspired me to pack hospital bag and put waterproof sheet on bed. Well, will do tomorrow....

Good luck, honeymoo!

celestinelass · 07/11/2010 22:33

Hi everyone

After spending 20 hours in pre labour, went to birthing centre last night at 10pm.
Waters broke but not very dilated, nearly sent home but as they were quiet, they let me stay. THANK GOD!

Hopped in the water birthing pool at about 11, contractions continued very strong, then suddenly it all accelerated and baby was born under water at 1.27am!

Beautiful baby boy, weighed 7lb 7oz. Perfect in every way. We've named him Jasper.

No real problems, just used gas and air and lavender oil on a flannel. Still excruciatingly painful but SOOOO worth it to hold him safely in our arms.

Got home at lunch time and so far he has slept 90% of the time.

So he missed being born bang on his due date by only 1.5hrs!

Good luck to everyone, hope you all have as positive an experience as we have!

comtessa · 07/11/2010 22:54

Congratulations celestinelass! That's fantastic news - thank goodness they let you stay! Welcome to the world little Jasper.

BorisTheBold · 08/11/2010 02:35

Hi all,

Insomnia is still visiting here Grin!

Huge congratulations to celestinelass, sounds like a very positive birth and I love your choice of Jasper.

Also congratulations to bookworm I hope your wee guy has kept up with bf, after his slow start.

Any news from smokey...?

Still no progress here, am now 39+2 and am due back into day unit at hosp tomorrow for yet more PE monitoring. Feeling really detached at the moment, if CS hadn't been cancelled baby would have been "out" for 3 days by now. I suspect I have not been the best company this weekend Blush, but dp has been a star and has taken over the running of the house, kids, animals, food, shopping etc. with hardly any complaints.

I have mainly slobbed about, as my feet are now so swollen I can't wear trainers and have had to resort to my faithful Birkies teamed with an old pair of grey work trousers held together with a hair bobble [shame]. I am a total fashionista! I have no motivation to go and buy more trousers as hopefully the baby will make an appearance in the next week or so. In the meantime I'll just need to continue to look like a before picture of "What not to wear".

Hope everyone else is sleeping soundly...Envy

Pidgin · 08/11/2010 04:45

I'm awake too Boris - listening to the rain and trying to work out whether it's worth making a proper effort at going back to sleep. I am also down to almost no clothes but really can't face shopping...

Congrats celestinelass and good luck honeymoo! Hope induction went well smokey. Umf I enjoyed your description of the plug. Sounds like things could be starting for you?

We were obviously all out walking yesterday, I did a couple of walks too but to no avail - think I will hibernate today though!

Good luck to everyone who's waiting...

balijay · 08/11/2010 04:59

Wide awake here too and have been since about 3.30pm - nothing wrong with me, just awake. (waves to Boris and Pidgin)

Off to read back a few pages now, have been away in Birmingham this weekend...

Hope eveyone is well

blondecat · 08/11/2010 05:16

Same here. Since 330. And starving which his rich considering I made mistake weighing self yesterday and OMG it's a grim result.

Congratulations to all new babies. I am too tired to name but I think loopy, hmm sleep. And celetines?
hope you are all recovering well even if things didn't quite go to plan. Babies seem to have their own plans.

CardiCorgi · 08/11/2010 07:25

Congratulations celestinelass!

Not sure if being able to manage a long walk is a good thing or not - if I feel this fit, I may have another two weeks to go. Nooooo.

On the other hand, I think I've just had a show - loads of truly disgusting gunk. Any idea if this means things are about to kick off?

On the clothes front, I am also down to black trousers, black top, purple top or a thrilling combination of all three. At least my swimsuit just about fits, although all of that material that was loose at 20 weeks isn't any more. Boris just think of all of the nice things you will be able to wear again afterwards.

Pidgin · 08/11/2010 07:49

I woke up at 3.30 too! It's obviously the witching hour.

Cardi don't want to be depressing, but I had a show on Thursday and nada since - but it might also mean things are kicking off!

CardiCorgi · 08/11/2010 08:03

I thought someone would say that. Bother.
I weighed myself this morning too. Bother again.
Off to the doctor later for my last check with her before the hospital takes over.
