Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Hello! DD was born at 1am, 3 hours after first contraction. The gas and air ran out towards the end, but just as pool was ready so I leapt into that for last couple of contractions and out she came.
So all quite quick, first couple of hours was very manageable, watching tv through the contractions with gas and air. Was only really the last few that were very intense. No pushing needed, it just kind of happened. No tears, minor grazes but weeing is fine so can't be too bad

Only hitch is that once midwives had left I still seemed to be bleeding heavily a few hours later, long story short am now in labour ward with synto drip and will be here at least til lunch I think. Wish I could see DD1 but DH has just popped home to get her off to nursery as normal and we'll not tell her the baby is here yet.

9lb 2oz, we're still trying to decide between 2 names.

Fantastic news privet, congratulations!

4madboys · 29/11/2010 09:17

yay congratulations privet Grin hope you get home soon xxx

grinningbee · 29/11/2010 09:35

Congratulations to Umf and Privetdancer!

Sending labour vibes to those that want them, and a big sticky chocolate fudge cake to all Grin

comtessa · 29/11/2010 10:26

Congratulations privet! Wow, that was quick.

Am realising that unless LO hurries up then she'll be a December baby, which may seem obvious but I was expecting a November baby. Unreasonable hormonal issue of the day here, clearly I have too little to think about today!

comtessa · 29/11/2010 10:52

Oh, and 40+2.

CardiCorgi · 29/11/2010 11:59

Congrats Umf and Privet
Lainey I hope it all went well. For what it'S worth, I think epidurals are great - was very happy to get mine.

I weighed myself that day before DD was born, 16 kg Shock and when I came out of hospital I'd only lost 4.5 of that. Am now down 8kg from heaviest which is still a bit depressing.

4madboys · 29/11/2010 12:22

well hospital have phoned, i have app on wed am to be monitered etc and depending on how i and baby am they will either induce then or if not i have an app to be induced on sat, so by the end of the week i WILL have a baby! yay thankgod for that the end is in sight Grin

obviously it would be great if i could go into labour naturally, but i am so fed up of being preg now that i really dont give a dam!

comtessa · 29/11/2010 12:30

Huzzah! Great news 4madboys.

grinningbee · 29/11/2010 12:43

I weighed myself just a few hours before birth (mad mummy emoticon) and I put on 24lbs, 3 more than with dd.

I lost 15lb with the birth, and the last couple of days it is falling off which happened before. I have lost 4lb in the last 2 days. Not surprising given dd is intent on throwing herself from every chair/sofa/thing she shouldn't be balanced on!

Another 5lb and I'll be back where I started. If only I wasn't overweight to start with... GrinGrin

Good news re the end in sight 4madboys, and how are you doing today Comtessa? I should have had a March baby last time, and got an April one instead.

sancerrre · 29/11/2010 13:53

William James was born on Sat 27th, 1:48pm weighing 7lb 1oz, (not the 8lb 15 predicted by the scan 3 days prior). Contractions started 4am, 5 mins apart straight away, went to hospital at 7am, 7cm dilated so too late for the pethidine. Not too bad all in all, reckon I got off quite lightly for a first timer. Had a bit of a long second stage, nearly 2 hours, sped up by sycto drip, which didn't seem to make anything more painful, just maybe each contraction a bit longer so more pushing time.

comtessa · 29/11/2010 17:24

Hospital appointment went fine. No concerns over LO or me. Next MW appt Thursday when I'll be 40+5 so sweep etc can be discussed then if LO hasn't yet appeared. So, keeping on being ridiculously, hugely pregnant in the meantime.

Congratulations to sancerre, that sounds nicely straightforward.

craftykamo · 29/11/2010 17:54

Haven't dropped in here for a while. Congratulations to all those who've had their babies.

I had a sweep this morning, which was unsuccessful as my cervix was posterior and hard to find, so am booked in for induction on Thursday afternoon, but will be given the choice on the day as to whether I want to wait for a few more days. (According to my own dates I'm now 41+5, to the scan dates I'm 41+1) Not sure how I feel about it, scared of being induced, but not sure I can bear much more waiting around. And baby really should be well and truely cooked by now. So my mid-November baby is going to be an early December one. Can't help thinking I went on maternity leave far too early!

JFly · 29/11/2010 21:44

Ooooofff. Twinges. Ooooffff. Crampiness. Ooooffff. Bounce. Oooofffff. Bounce.

llandb · 29/11/2010 23:58

Congratulations, umf, Privet and sancerrre!

JFly - how exciting! (Now, careful it's not clashing with any rugby :o) Good luck!

4madboys so you're in the wrong a/n club? :o

One of my aunties is fond of marshalling the family and informed me that I must ensure the baby is out before December because kids hate having their birthdays mixed up with Christmas... I don't think there's much in the difference between late Nov and early Dec. And I'm afraid that I emailed her back to say 'thanks for the input, but I think I'll follow the advice of the obstetrician :)'

Supposed to be going for induction tomorrow (41+3) but I gather the overnight snow is going to make it difficult for delivery unit staff to drive to work, so they'll be short-staffed. So they may tell me to stay home and play in the snow :)

'Night, babes and bumps! :)

comtessa · 30/11/2010 01:24

Jfly how are things progressing? I've been strapped up to TENS machine since about midnight so really hoping this is it.

JFly · 30/11/2010 08:17

Oh, I really thought it was labour. But it stopped around 3 ish? DS had come into our bed and wouldn't got back to his. So I slept in his bed for the rest of the night. Much fun. At least he has a waterproof sheet on his bed.

Still having some cx here, though, so maybe today?? But now snowing a bit in London so could be interesting. We have 4 wheel drive, though! But not sure about DH getting back from work if he needs to quickly.

Comtessa, hope you're progressing better than me! I nearly put on the TENS but then things slowed down.

4madboys · 30/11/2010 09:06

oh good luck jfly! fingers crossed things get going for you!

llandb looks like we will both have december babies!

ds3's bday is 23rd december! and tbh its not hugely convenient, but he doesnt mind at all and this year has asked that we have the xmas decs up FOR his bday, in previous years we have waited till xmas eve so he has his bday and then we get xmassed up iyswim?

i have had to make sure that 'some people' dont try and get him joint gifts/cards etc but on the whole most people still make just as much fuss as if his bday was any other time of the year :)

anyhow nowt happening hear, upset tummy again, as ever, check up at hospital tomorrow and then either induction asap or at the weekend, i just want it all over and done with now.

comtessa · 30/11/2010 09:15

Me too Jfly. Was able to get some sleep on and off but now all cx very far apart and mild. Hoping they return but not holding my breath.

lainey1981 · 30/11/2010 13:49

hi all just quick update, no time to catch up on posts
Baby Finn was born yesterday at 5.5am weighing 7lb 11oz, after horrid labour - about 30hrs (14hrs active labour) ended up with epidural, forceps and stitches, so much for the birth plan hey. but he is gorgeous
am still in hospital due to blood los etc but hoping to be discharged later - once he has learnt to feed.
he keeps screaming at my nipples - getting me quite stressed out as only latched on properly once with help of midwife.
hope everyone else ok , will post more later [smile}

comtessa · 30/11/2010 14:13

Congratulations Lainey! Welcome to little Finn. Sorry to hear about your labour experience but glad to hear that he's now safely here. Hope BFing takes soon.

grinningbee · 30/11/2010 15:09

Congratulations lainey Hope you get home soon Smile

My mw saw me for the last time today as she's happy for the hv to take over. I cried buckets on her! Bloody hormones...

Still, ds has got back to exactly his birthweight today after just 10 days which is brill.

It must be something to do with my chocolate intake GrinGrin

4madboys · 30/11/2010 15:10

congrats lainey and sancerre Grin

hope Finn sorts his feeding out soon for you lainey xxx

nothing happening here Hmm

Babybean1 · 30/11/2010 15:42

Congrats Lainey. Evie took a while to latch on in hospital after her first inital feed as she just wanted to sleep!! MW's stressed me out as they kept trying to wake her and force her onto my breast when it was obvious she didnt want it!! Gave her 2 feeds via syringe then when they were out of the way i did it on my own and aftet a while she was fine. She sure knows what its for now and wants it all the time!! sure Finn will do it when hes ready :)

Here is Baby Evie for anyone who wants a peak :)

mumcha · 30/11/2010 17:55
