Congratulations, lainey! Sorry you had such a rubbish labour - hope Finn makes up for it. Love the name Finn - one of my faves, but DP won't have it (or any of my other faves) :(

Hope you get BF sorted. Lots of people had to help me with DD and then my CMW gave me the crucial tip that enabled me to line everything up (in my case, the tip was 'bring the baby to the breast, not breast to baby') and after that, it was fine :) Might have been obvious, but noone had thought to say it - or not after I'd had the baby when I might have taken it in and it might have made sense!

Babybean I can't view the link - but it could be a temporary prob so will try again later :)

mumcha yay for sleep!

They decided this morning that induction would fail, so am booked for a c-section first thing tomorrow morning - another December baby, then! Hope I can remember how to do this BF lark, and can figure out how to carry a newborn in a sling.

DD still a snot-filled meltdown monster - DP will have to cope alone!

Babybean1 · 30/11/2010 19:20

Hopefully here is Baby Evie as dont think last link worked!! Sorry....not very good at this linking business!!
If all else fails.....I'm Rachel Tadman for anyone on facebook that wants to add me as a friend and have a look that way instead!!

How exciting landb! Tomorrow is DEFINITELY baby day!! Hope all goes well and look forward to hearing about the new arrival!

Ninjacat · 30/11/2010 19:34

I hope you don't mind me popping in.
My DS was born 4th Dec 2009 but was due 22nd Nov so just wanted to say if any of you November ladies are still hanging in there it will happen one way or another Smile

llandb · 30/11/2010 19:50

Babybean thanks - and sorry to tell you that the link went to something that looked like an MN page that wasn't yours :o

But it gave me enough of a clue to look at your profile photos :) And she is gorgeous!

Ninjacat congrats! Yes, 4 h 10 mins of Nov left for anyone who is in the UK and hasn't popped :o

PrivetDancer · 30/11/2010 22:59

Congrats lainey and sancerre!!

And best of luck for tomorrow, llandb! hope the induction is gentle but effective!
4mad, hope you get yours tomorrow too!

I had a post partum haemorrhage apparently, but not too major. Had some huge clots scooped out, which was nice, but really the worst thing about yesterday was waiting to be fecking discharged from the hospital! How can it take 3 hrs to get some iron tablets?!

Anyway, deep breath, it doesn't matter now, we got home again yesterday evening and DD1 (!) met DD2, it was very sweet :)
We've been careful not to overdo going on about the baby stuff and DD1 seems pretty chilled about the whole thing so far. Hope it lasts!

Good luck to everyone else still waiting - not long now!

Sorry to hear about your haemorrahage Privet but glad you're out of hospital and feeling well now.

So, LO has now run out of time to be a November baby. Who else is now awaiting an Advent baby? I find I'm now avoiding people where possible as I'm just so fed up of being asked about LO. And ignoring all "Any news?" texts. Pregnarage? No, now pregnagrump!

40+4. MW appt tomorrow, hoping she'll suggest/try a sweep.

umf · 01/12/2010 11:36

Congratulations Lainey, Privet, Sancerrre!

So Rocky was born on Sat evening, as indicated by my elliptical post partum message 4.6kg/10.3lb. (Rocky's his nn, full name unusual so won't post cos anyone googling it would find this thread, but posted it before. 6th century Cornish saint. Tamed a wolf.)

Labour complete opposite from last time's 48hr marathon. I was pretty much in transition by the time I had the sense to call the mw. It didn't even hurt until then. When she examined me I expected her to say 4cm, but was fully dilated and head there. Didn't have time for pool, or even gas and air. TENS machine worked all the way to the end, astonishingly, even though I must have been almost fully dilated by the time I put it on. Last hour was painful, but perfectly manageable with DH and doula's help. Pushing difficult cos huge baby, but once I was squatting instead of on all 4s he came out nicely.

Scary bit then: only one mw had arrived, cos everything went so quickly. Rocky needed some resuscitation, which didn't worry me but terrified poor husband. Only a few breaths and he was pink again but a nasty moment. I had pph at the same time. So two sets of paramedics in house within 4 mins of birth, Rocky and DH whisked off to hospital for checks, mw got placenta out and I stopped bleeding. I was absolutely fine, thought birth had gone brilliantly, was v well looked after and stitched up, knew Rocky was perfectly ok cos mw not worried about him at all. Poor DH had scary trip to hospital, lots of bad memories from DS1's experience. But Cambridge hospital excellent staff all really kind.

After stitching (pretty extensive, I fear) and shower, mw spent about an hour squeezing colostrum from me which doula took to hosp for Rocky. In the morning my mother, DS1, and I went to hosp. R latched on straightaway and we managed to prise him out of the system and get him home later that day.

Seems v ironic that mws quite concerned it had all been v traumatic for me, when actually about a million times better than last time in London, when no-one gave a shit.

Rocky adorable, feeding All The Time, DS1 taking it pretty well.

Milky, confused, hormonal advent greetings to everyone. Good luck, still-to-pops.

pkugirl · 01/12/2010 11:36

My November baby has become an advent one too, comtessa.

Today's sweep showed I'd made no progress since Monday's sweep, despite some nasty pains leading to sleepless nights, etc Xmas Hmm

Off to hospital today just like you, 4mad for exactly the same treatment, though induction for me would be any day between now and Friday.

Don't know about you all who are left waiting, but am so excited now for baby but v nervous now re being stuck in hospital for induction and just the pain in general -just not how I saw this going..

Wishing you all the very best of snowy labours.
x

pkugirl · 01/12/2010 11:38

ps Apparently 'advent' means coming..... you think?!?!

Not sure our LOs got that memo Xmas Wink

comtessa · 01/12/2010 11:59

Have just checked an online dictionary (pedants are us)

  1. The coming or arrival, especially of something extremely important

(Repeats loudly to bump, tapping for emphasis)

Feeling your sleepless nights pkugirl. My last few nights' sleep have been lost to counting contractions, wandering round house, and call or two to labour suite, followed by the (by now) inevitable tailing-off of cx around 5am. There have been at least three times in the past fortnight that I've been about to say to DH "Call a taxi, we're heading in." And I think now maybe I should have done as maybe things were happening enough to prompt waters being broken or something. But then I also know that nature takes its course etc etc and LO will arrive when she's ready. Sigh.
Don't know whether to be glad this is my first so that I can hibernate or wishing I had a LO to run around after to keep me occupied.

pyjamalover · 01/12/2010 14:25

Haven't read through the last few pages yet but wanted to let you all know I had my baby boy on saturday evening, he is absolutely perfect and I'm over the moon, he was born to breast feed!

Had a hard time having him with 60 hours of painful contractions (the first 36 only every 10 mins a not too bad), only 4cm dilated then he suddenly dropped his heart rate and I had an emergency caesarian. Been quite sore since but improving every day. As everyone else has said he's worth it!

I'll catch up with the rest of your news soon but hope you're all having happy healthy babies.

umf · 01/12/2010 16:51

Congratulations pj!!

Ouch, comtessa hope it happens v soon. Hopefully a long prelabour is a good sign. It was for me. Everything really ready to go when it finally kicks off.

comtessa · 01/12/2010 21:41

Congratulations again PJ!

Thanks umf. Had pains again this evening for about 90 minutes and was convinced I was dilating. But now, nothing, nada and zip. Off to bed for early night, methinks.

grinningbee · 02/12/2010 09:10

Congratulations PJ and anyone else I've missed.

Now then Comtessa... I'm beginning to think dynamite is the answer...? Grin

comtessa · 02/12/2010 11:36

Thanks grinningbee. I think at this point I'm willing to try anything! I blame my mother as my two elder siblings were nigh-on ten-month pregnancies. (I was a mere three days late.)

Trying to stay positive but TBH, I can't help feeling like I'm doing something wrong.Confused

comtessa · 02/12/2010 12:25

Huzzah! Just spoke to my MW who's shocked that I haven't delivered yet and, despite all orders for MWs to return to base, she's going to brave the ice to come and do a cervical sweep on me this afternoon. Happily I only live a short distance from health centre where MWs are based.

(Starts stockpiling dynamite to help things along in case sweep doesn't start things off...)

SGJ · 02/12/2010 15:15

Keep us updated Comtessa - although I don't post much I am avidly following everyone's birth stories! I had a sweep yesterday and apart from being extremely unpleasant, it doesn't seem to have made any difference! But they do say that they'll only work if you're ready to go and although I'm now 41+ 1 I really haven't had any strong BHs or anything even approaching contractions, so hopefully it'll work for you!!
Best wishes for everyone still waiting for their tardy babies - are you starting to look forward to your induction dates like I am?! X

PrivetDancer · 02/12/2010 16:36

Try a glass of wine tonight - I'm sure it worked for me!
Hope the sweep is good, comtessa, and productive!

Just popping in to let you know DS2 was born (on his due date!) Tuesday Nov 30th at 16:06. 7lbs 4oz. Contractions did pick up again that morning and I went to the hospital about 1:30. Baby born only 2.5 hours later.

Unfortunately, my VBAC turned into a crash c-section under general anaesthesia because (WOULD YOU BELIEVE IT) I had another placental abruption (happened with DS1). I don't know the odds of that happening twice, but by golly, they must be slim! Frankly, it was hideous.

It was rather scary and touch and go but thankfully we are both absolutely fine. They even let us go home this afternoon, loaded up with pain meds and iron tablets. I'm happy to be home to see DS1 and even the dogs. Recovery will be slow, but have at least got doula and DH to help.

Poor little guy doesn't have a name yet! We can't decide. I think it's down to us both thinking he was a girl, so we didn't properly think about boy names.

Hang in there, those who are waiting! I was two full weeks late with DS1 and it is very frustrating, I know.

I will keep checking to see how you all get on!

blondecat · 02/12/2010 19:34

Hi Girls

Just popping in between feeds to ask a TMI question
Sorry

I had a c-section over 2 weeks ago
Since then I've been having tummy trouble - first the usual constipation, then 1 day normal, then diarrhea for over a week now

It was really bad at the beginning, I couldn't eat anything and am breastfeeding so was famished. Now it's better but still not going away

I was told it's not bacterial / viral as baby, thank God, is OK and there is no other tell-tale signs.

Subsisting on boiled chicken, white fish, white rice, bananas, camomile tea, white toast etc

It seems esp prone to being triggered by me eating a larger amount at any one time

Has anyone experienced something similar? Anything helped?

Thanks in advance
Am getting desperate here

comtessa · 02/12/2010 19:58

Sorry to hear that blondecat. I'm afraid I don't have any experience/advice to be able to offer you. Apologies.

JFly congratulations on your son and glad to hear you're both recovering well.

Thanks SGJ and Privet. Have glass of wine next to me (small) but not holding out much hope as the G&T last week didn't have any effect Grin.

Sweep caused cx again for a few hours, gone away again now, but due for another Monday morning and now have induction booked for Tuesday. So the end (or baby) is in sight - huzzah!

Hope you get some help Blondecat, sounds horrible.

4madboys · 03/12/2010 10:23

ooh more new babies! Grin congratulations!

nowt happening here, tho have upset tummy and niggles again, have to go to delivery flr for 8am tomorrow and they will break my waters for me and hopefully that will do the trick as it did with the other 4!

good luck everyone!

b00kw0rm · 03/12/2010 11:29

blondecat - one of my NCT friends had similar after DC was born- turned out to be colieac so couldn't eat gluten... she'd never had any problems before pregnancy, but apparently was triggered by baby and doctor kept advising her to eat toast and cereal which was making it worse! Hope it's not that, but might be worth cutting out the toast for a day or two?
comtessa- am thinking of you as think you're the last of the Nottingham November ladies?
We're doing ok here- James is a month old now and HUGE (11lbs 1oz yesterday), as a result of near constant feeding, so I've been really struggling to find 5 minutes to catch up, but have been trying to read and almost always have a few tears when I read a new birth story (I blame the hormones!) so good luck to anyone else still waiting for their arrivals.

comtessa · 03/12/2010 12:35

Thanks b00kw0rm Smile. Four days to go and counting... Great news about James' weight gain - hope you're not too exhausted.

sancerrre · 03/12/2010 13:43

Congratulations umf, pj, jfly. And good luck to Comtessa, 4madboys, SGJ and pkugirl, thinking of you all. For what its worth, any of you having inductions, I had the sycntocin drip towards the end and it didn't seem to make it more painful, I was just glad it sped things up!
