PrivetDancer · 16/11/2010 16:05

Why not go the other way, grinningbee, and have a really big cry an get it all out! Then think of something nice to have for dinner (or pudding)

Thanks jfly :) it was in the morning nappy poo so I didnt see her do it, but she hasn't complained since or anything so it must have been ok really..

Well after the sweep this morning, I have been having very strong tightenings (a bit uncomfortable but not particularly painful) every 8 minutes or so for awhile now... Not hopeful that it will necessarily turn into labour but we'll see! Hope all goes well for you with the induction clueless!!

comtessa · 16/11/2010 17:44

Excellent news about the pound coin privet! One less thing for you to be thinking about.

(Passes grinningbee some hormone-free chocolate cake)

sarahbuff hope your tightenings continue.

Contractions eased again here but I had my 38week appt with MW at lunchtime today and she thinks DD could well be here by the end of the week. Also she said that DD's likely to be between 8 1/2 and 9 lbs. It's the first time my MW has ever given me an estimate on timing or weight so hoping she's right and it won't be too long until LO's here.
Crikey. Must put curtains up first though. And put pram together.

Hope everyone else is well and as comfortable as can be expected.

comtessa · 16/11/2010 17:44

PS Thanks JFLy, went for lukewarm bath in the end instead to be on the safe side.

4madboys · 16/11/2010 18:11

ooh good luck clueless and hope contractions build up to the real thing comtessa and sarah!

nowt happening here and there was a mum at school due the same day as me, she had her baby, a little boy on saturday :) obviously i am thrilled for her, but also a little Hmm she went overdue with her other two and then has had her third early!

i see midwife tomorrow and may beg for a sweep or at least a check to see if my cervix looks like anything is happening!

dairymum · 16/11/2010 20:30

Sorry not had chance to check back through posts. Baby Jake Mathew born sunday 14/11, 8lb 10oz. OUCH. much bigger than expected, and left mummy with HUGE pilesBlush. Having trouble sitting down, luckily Jake is being as good as gold.Grin
Will try to catch up soon. Congrats to others who have popped. Smile

sarahbuff · 16/11/2010 21:54

Having cxs every 8-10 minutes at the moment, waiting to see whether they get closer and stronger, still not sure if they'll disappear for the night and happen tomorrow instead! Was already 3cm dilated when I had the sweep this morning though so whatever happens at least these are doing something! Congrats to you dairymum, hope the piles resolve themselves quickly!

Gemjar · 17/11/2010 03:54

Good evening all,

am 40+10 today (weds) and had a sweep this morning and cxs started fairly shortly after that. They have been about 8-10 mins all day, but have intensified since going to bed at about 10.

Had a bit of show a couple of hours ago and they are now quite intense and every 5 mins. Midwife said to wait until they get stronger and last longer than 40 secs and to take some paracetemol, have done this and had a bath, so now i'm just timing and waiting for them to progress a bit.

Hopefully will be able to hang on until morning as it will make things a lot easier and more people will be able to come and look after DS1, also, me and DH might wake up a bit once it starts getting light.

see you on the other side...

cluelessnchaos · 17/11/2010 04:45

Hope things are kicking off sarahbuff, I am lying cuddled up to my beautiful new son James, very speedy labour and he was 8 lb 15( and a quarter) details to follow

Fenouille · 17/11/2010 04:56

Congratulations clueless glad the induction went well for you.

Good luck sarah and gem, sounds like things are kicking off.

Ooh at your MW's prediction comtessa are you starting a sweepstake? :)

sarahbuff · 17/11/2010 06:06

Am now def in labour! Cxs every 5-7 mins and reasonably ouchy! Waiting until they are around 3 mins apart to call my midwife as she is off today for her birthday but said I can ring and she will come if she isn't busy. Just means I have to hope baby waits until a slightly more humane hour! :). Good luck to you gem hope things are done already!

Huge congrats clueless, sounds like the induction went well!

Gemjar · 17/11/2010 06:22

Getting bored now! cxs seem to be staying at 5 mins apart and approx 40-45secs long. Although I am getting a mini one in between this most times, but that is just confusing me with timings (easily done at this time in the morning)

Hope they get going soon - Sarah, shall we have a race to see who pops first? Grin

grinningbee · 17/11/2010 08:04

Congratulations Dairymum and Clueless, and good luck to Sarah and Gemjar!

Hello anyone else still waiting Grin

Dh is now convinced that the baby is waiting until Saturday, when "horror of horrors" he will interrupt the Arsenal v Tottenham game.

Once I've hoovered etc later I'm getting the birth ball out for some bouncing I think. Mw suggested pineapple and passion yesterday. One look at dh's expression made me realise the passion is off the menu!

40+4...

JFly · 17/11/2010 08:48

Yes, congrats to dairymum and clueless!

Hope things progress well, Sarah and gemjar. Sounds like these sweeps are doing their jobs.

38 week MW appt today. Will have to employ sign language with her, voice still gone. Plus side, quite a walk to get there, so maybe will get things moving. I'm bored of this pregnancy lark, now!

4madboys · 17/11/2010 09:03

ooh more babies, congrats clueless and dairymum Grin

nowt happening here, waiting for midwife as she is visiting this morning, well sometime between 9am-2pm, normally i wouldnt like being stuck in the house but its so cold that today i dont care, plenty of housework to get on with as ever Hmm

good luck sarah! xxx

umf · 17/11/2010 09:11

Congratulations dairy and cluesless!

Go sarah! Go gemjar!

Thought it was kicking off last night after walk, but quietened down overnight. Got all stressy and rattled in the evening, having a lot of trouble maintaining calm "wait and see" attitude and positive thoughts. Not sure whether it's the uncertainty about timing, or cos so traumatic last time, or complexity of childcare arrangements needed this time, or just grumpy cowishness. DH says "well, you're bound to feel a bit odd."

smokeybacon · 17/11/2010 10:01

Congratulations dairymum and clueless on your new arrivals. And sending good labour vibes to genjar and sarah too.

Come on too to my fellow Nottinghamians grinning and comtessa. I anxiously await news from you!

I've been lurking a lot to check on new babies but not managing to post much, I'm afraid. The DTs are pretty good but am trying to sleep as much as I can or have nice long baths when I have a minute to myself. I keep thinking how easy this would be if there was just one newbaby, but when I look at them asleep next to each other, I wouldn't have it any other way!

I think the baby blues have set in a bit too, as DH and I had mini words last night over nothing really and it set me off big style. It was six of one and half a dozen of the other, but I ended up in tears for about an hour. DH was very apologetic. Thankfully, he does get that I am likely to cry over nothing at the moment.

I am also very glad we went down the Doula route as she is fab. She comes in, makes me a coffee, makes sure I've eaten, and then does all the household chores! As well as being on hand to help with feeding the DTs and BF support too. I feel very pampered at times.

smokeybacon · 17/11/2010 10:04

And mibby too - I couldn't rememeber if you'd popped or not at the time of the last post so have had to go and check on the stats thread. Come on you too!!

lainey1981 · 17/11/2010 10:44

gggr just lost my post, shall start again.

congrats to dairy and clueless

c'mon sarah and gemjar -wishing you luck.

hope the rest of you stuck in limbo get going v soon.

smokey glad things are going well with the DTs, sounds lovely that you have a bit of support from the Doula.

am 39+3 and just wondering when it'll be my turn

grinningbee · 17/11/2010 10:44

Glad it's going well Smokey I think Comtessa will be way ahead of me. It's not fair!

GrinGrin

grinningbee · 17/11/2010 10:46

Ha ha Lainey x posted with you. Looks like we're both stamping toddlers/teens!

4madboys · 17/11/2010 10:55

well midwife has been, all fine with bump, she wouldnt do a sweep but is coming next fri when i will be 40+1 and will do a sweep then, she has said that as i have big babies the consultant would me more than happy to induce me once i go over dates if i dont feel like i can hang on til term plus 14, but i said i would rather wait til then just to give my body the maximum chance of getting started on my own, but i am free to change my mind if i want :)

comtessa · 17/11/2010 11:04

Morning all. Glad to hear you've got an extra pair of hands there Smokey and that the DTs are doing well. Had much-needed lie-in this morning with no contractions last night but feels like they might be gently starting up again now. Typing on phone so vslow - congratulations to new arrivals! Will post more later.

SGJ · 17/11/2010 11:51

Hi all!

HUGE congratulatiosn to everyone who's had their baby so far - I'm jealous!! Am 39 weeks today and for the first time feeling completely ready to pop! Seriously, I feel huge today and thought MN would be the perfect place to come and moan about it!

Went to the MLU (where we're booked in) for routine appointment this morning and the midwife told me the baby's back to back, which I was really miffed about. I think it's completely down to the car I'm driving atm, as it gets bloody uncomfortable to drive more than 10 minutes in it now. Wow I'm moany!

Anyway, I'm now watching "I didn't know I was pregnant" on my hands and knees, hoping that'll help! Anyone else have any hints or tips on how to turn a back to back baby?

And good luck to everyone with their twinges/back aches - hope it's not long now!
