Congratulations fromhere

boris you must be so disappointed that LO has flipped again. Hope baby decides to stay head down for you

vix glad you're back home now

Not much happening here - had some cramping every 10 mins or so for a couple of hours on Sunday but it went away again after I had a bath. Tried to go for a walk yesterday, but my plans were ruined when a massive thunderstorm rolled in and I had to waddle really fast run back to the car to get out of the rain.

MIL seems to think I'm not ready to go into labour yet as my belly button hasn't fully popped out Hmm Didn't realise that the belly button was like an oven timer that would pop out once LO is cooked Grin

BorisTheBold · 08/11/2010 22:00

Thanks guys. As far as I can tell, there will be an initial injection to relax my stomach muscles to try and make it easier for docs to turn baby (although it's not like I'm toned Grin). No pain relief offered and I've heard tales of how painful an ECV is - I'm really not looking forward to it.

Lol at bunnygirl - maybe that's why mine's is messing around, my bellybutton hasn't popped out fully either!

Mibby · 08/11/2010 22:18

Fingers crossed for you Boris, hope its all over soon.

blondecat · 09/11/2010 00:20

Oh Boris what a nightmare. The LO is being naughty! At least they checked so you are not in the dark. I am worried mine may push me into the same boat.
I hope she takes a break tonight and you can give ecv a chance.
I was told it may be uncomfortable but it does not have to hurt. The more relaxed you can be (ha as if that was easy) the more comfortable it will be. Also you can always tell them to stop. Keeping fingers crossed for you and the little circus performer - you would think the LO would not have space for sommersalutes anymore!

fenouille I am sure the lone warrior can get the hang of breastfeeding. You are right to do whatever it takes to get some milk down him now. And even if he refuses cooperation me and DH are both bottle fed and we survived well. The plus sidew would be longer sleeps and Your husband feeding too. But hopefully it won't come to this.

My LO is still breech and officially with feet close to her head yet somehow in the last few days she is managing to score frequent direct hits on my cervix or at any rate something low down and very sore. I have no idea how she does it - with her bum? Her hands? Or maybe she has turned but don't think so really - I can feel her head high up. Just hope she is not planning on anything in the next 48 hours as her daddy is in Paris, mastering the universe, of course. Wink

Good night everyone

blondecat · 09/11/2010 00:23

Oh and sulk. Got my first stretch mark Sunday. I screamed when I saw the stripes. Dh came running with a look of sheer panic on his face. Quite funny really.
Two and a half stripes - what military grade does that make me?

llandb · 09/11/2010 02:09

Oh no - lost the thread! Found it now :)

Been having lots of pre-labour for last few weeks. Am worried I won't recognise real thing as I have friends who didn't in this situation :o - had no prob with PG1 as no pre-labour to confuse the matter.

You have all been very busy popping babies! Will defo go back and find out who's done what, but meanwhile, congrats to all who have popped! :)

And reading just this page, Boris, Shock good luck!

Blondecat don't know about rank but yes, they are battle stripes, for sure :o

Bunny everyone knows that the timers aren't calibrated for all ovens - mine pops waay before cooked - perhaps yours is a super-duper fan oven that cooks things more quickly than the timer can register? Hope you didn't get soaked!

'Night, bumps & babes! :)

Wallace · 09/11/2010 07:18

Congrats to anyone with a new baby that I have missed!

Good luck Boris :)

LOL at bellybutton timer - this is my fourth and mine has never popped out!

comtessa · 09/11/2010 09:18

Hello all.

Boris so sorry to hear about the LO misbehaving. It seems they have a mind of their own right from the word go!

blondecat my stretchmarks have taken over my lower abdomen! Am clearly something like head of the armed forces of several countries by now.

Hope you're enjoying being home Vix.

Latest news from Comtessa Towers: No sign of LO arriving anytime soon but OUR NEW BED ARRIVES THIS LUNCHTIME! HUZZAH! Waterproof sheet ready and waiting - oh the glamour.

Rinnyx · 09/11/2010 09:40

Morning ladies.
Well yesterday was my due date but I think today might be the day.
Went out for thai last night and had a slightly spicey duck and fresh pineapple meal.
Been having on, off lower back pain all night but not enough to fully wake me and woke up this morning to what I am guessing is a show.
So managed to walk DD to school and now sitting at home killing time waiting to see how soon these pains/contractions take to get longer and stronger.
DP is still asleep in bed and not fazed at all Envy

comtessa · 09/11/2010 09:42

That's great news Rinnyx - do keep us posted.

smokeybacon · 09/11/2010 09:48

Very quick post to let you know Freddie and tobias arrived sat evening (in the middle of strictly!). Natural birth with no epidural sadly. We got home last night so will post birth story and catch up with any other arrivals later on.

umf · 09/11/2010 09:57

Congratulations FromHere, Celestine, and smokeyb!

Eeek, Smokey's "Natural birth with no epidural sadly" scares me. I'm nuts for wanting a homebirth this time, huh? Realised last night that the image conjured up by NCT teacher of lazy sluttish mother with epidural reading Hello magazine through contractions is exactly who I want to be. Except not Hello.

Hope things are moving now Rinnyx!

Nothing doing here, but I'm only 38 weeks. All those minor contractions wore off. Mw this afternoon; hope BP not up from family stress.

(Octonauts driving me crazy! Anyone else with a preschooler who spends every waking moment rescuing sea creatures from natural disasters?)

grinningbee · 09/11/2010 10:27

Umf I am currently being Peppa Pigged to death if it makes you feel any better Grin

Huge congrats Smokey - when you have a moment (ha ha) may I ask how you found the QMC this time? I'm wondering why you didn't get your epidural...

Bit of lower backache here and have had some low down period pain, but nothing going on. Apart from being awake on and off from 3.30. Yuck.

Ah well, I still have a box of Thorntons from my birthday and some nice chocolate ovaltine (oh, how old do I sound?!?)

Grin
kelsuprise · 09/11/2010 10:31

Hi Ladies and bubs
Have been without internet access for a few days here, so missed some of your news. Congrats to all new mums and lovely snuggles to new babies! Great to catch up with what has been happening. Was due on the 30th Oct but wont get an induction date until tomorrows midwife appointment. Have had a few mild crampy pains on and off for last few days, but nothing else. I have polyhramnios (excess fluid) and was told that I would absolutely not go overdue (the consultant even wrote to my GP saying that I would prob not go to full term!!) ha ha... here I still am at 40+10!!!

lulastic · 09/11/2010 11:06

Ah more babies, exciting times on this thread!
blondecat it feels a bit mean that you can get so far mark free and then all of a sudden get a surprise, I have one beginning now too, at 39+4 However, If I don't get any then I will have to experience the wrath of my sister which will be worse than having a belly full of scars for sure.

Okay, TMI territory now... does anyone else experience little tiny air bubble deep down in the cervix area? (I say cervix, but don't know exact location) They are not at all like fanny farts (excuse the grim teenage terminology!!!) what it feels exactly like is the baby blowing cute little raspberries against me.

Anyone?

comtessa · 09/11/2010 11:53

Congratulations Smokey! That's great news and thanks for letting us know. Yes, looking forward to birth story (I think...) when you get a moment. Another one who's interested in your QMC experience.

Grinningbee when's your EDD? Mine is 27th November (sigh).

lainey1981 · 09/11/2010 12:13

congratulations smokey welcome Tobias and Freddie.
comtessa yay for the new bed, of course you do realise sod's law dictates that your waters will break all over your new mattress (thank goodness for the plastic sheet)
My sister was overdue a few years ago and took delivery of a new bed, went into labour v suddenly at home, delivered within 55 mins - thank goodness they still had the old mattress!

Not much happening here, still got period type pains (as have had on/off for last few days), completely not able to sleep (but wondering if this is because have bought a new pillow).
also still got lots of mucus type stuff every time I got to the loo - so is this just normal or my plug coming away v slowly I wonder?

my next midwife appointment isn't until next friday - which is 2 days from my due date ... seems like an aaaaage away.
oh well, breastfeeding class tomorrow - 4 hrs, not sure what to expect
blondecat feel your pain, i noticed the beginnings of a couple (only a couple of mm long) under my bump a couple of days ago - although one looks like could be spider vein? really hoping that DS arrives before they run the length of my belly. Not that I EVER get my stomach out (except on the beach) ...

grinningbee · 09/11/2010 12:16

Comtessa mine is the 13th. Mind you, dd was 9 days late, and they've already made me an appointment on the 22nd to go over options. Maybe they think I'll be late again!

My midwife last time was fab. Dh even took her piccy to go with the baby photos.

sarahbuff · 09/11/2010 12:53

Hi ladies! Shock at your situation Boris! Hope it all works out for the best, whatever happens.

Today is my scan due date (my date is next Tues) and baby is still 3/5 engaged, same as two weeks ago. BP a bit high which was odd considering I usually suffer with low BP, did have to bring all the children (three DS) to my appointment as DH had a job starting at the same time as my appointment which he absolutely couldn't miss, but as I joked to the MW before she took my BP, all three boys were angels in the waiting room so hopefully BP shouldn't be high! :) But then I've been having horrible horrible heartburn for the last three days and read this thread last night about a woman who had horrible heartburn at 31 weeks, went to get checked out and was given an immediate CS due to PE! Eek! Don't think that's me tho, def just icky heartburn.

Anyone else have totally odd pregnancy dreams? I dreamed last night that I woke up this morning and waters broke, I rung the MW and she was in clinic and said ring me back if/when you get regular contractions, I was sure baby felt really low and about to come out and went to the loo and baby shot out bum first!! Ack! Tried to shout for DH but he couldn't hear me so I'm sitting on the loo with a blood covered baby, not breathing yet and its freezing in there because the window was open during the night! Totally freaked me out and was so real I was surprised to wake up and still be pregnant! Ack.

Anyway, sorry for sharing totally random disturbing dream, hope everyone who is waiting isn't too uncomfortable!

umf · 09/11/2010 13:44

lulastic on the peculiar cervix feelings - I'm sure DS had his arm down birth canal and was tickling cervix the other day. Really a very odd sensation. It was day of growth scan so I asked sonographer if possible and she said oh yes, they like to have a good feel of anything interesting...

sarah yes, bonkers dreams. Will be glad to deliver and have them finish, if unconscious ever does settle down again.

4madboys · 09/11/2010 13:50

wow lots to catch up on!

CONGRATULATIONS ON ALL THE ARRIVALS, WE ARE ALL POPPING NOW! Grin

i am almost 38wks and have been having bh and upset tummy and period type pains but dont think madame will be putting in an appearance anytime soon, hope she hangs on for another week as ds3 is still off school and ds4 has had chickenpox and now has cold/cough, so too many germs in this house for a new baby!

boris hope things go smoothly and baby turns for labour or you get your c section asap.

rinny good luck hope this is it for you!

cant remember what everyone else has been saying Blush but hope everyone is well and as comfortable as they can be!

comtessa · 09/11/2010 17:35

Lulastic same with the bubbles-in-cervix for me. Very odd feelings!

Sympathies Dr Umf. I've had period-pain-type backache all afternoon and feeling tender/painful around lowest part of bump but nothing regular so probably just LO practising. I imagine her back-pedalling and then taking a run-up at my cervix before deciding she's still comfy and going back to sleep again.

sarahbuff glad it's not just me with the crazy dreams. Dreamt last night that we had to move again. AAAARGH! Thankfully just a dream.

comtessa · 09/11/2010 17:37

PS Lainey IKWYM about the waterproof sheet - bought one weeks ago and now cannot find it, thanks to chucking things everywhere tidying up on Friday for housewarming. Really want to make bed and have a nap, but do NOT want to tempt fate!

JFly · 09/11/2010 18:49

Is my birthday today and had a lovely breakfast out with DS and DH, followed by the cinema with DH while DS at nursery. First time we've been in many moons and most likely the last for a while! We saw "Due Date", which sounds a bit cliched given the circumstances. It was silly but quite funny. And Robert Downey Jr is H-A-W-T.

Out for dinner soon to mystery restaurant. Have been told I can wear jeans so I'm thinking not Claridges. Wink Lovely friend is babysitting so have bought her a bottle of prosecco to say thanks. Is so nice not to have to pay a babysitter for once!

Hope all bubbly cervixes and rib-kicking babies settle down. 3 weeks to go here and it feels a lifetime away. Maybe I ought to just pack that hospital bag, though....

Hi there, back with birth story!!

It was all pretty quick and intense. The induction worked a treat. It took one dose of prostin to get me to 3 cm in 6 hours and then my waters were broken which, wow, really kicked it off.

I was 5cm at 6pm having contractions pretty much without a break. The epidural was all lined up, in fact the anethetist was in the room with needle in hand when at 6.40 I had the urge to push. 7.01pm Freddie was out.

Contractions stopped for a bit which was a huge relief but then they said twin 2 was breach. That wasn't really a surprise as he'd been very wriggly all day but I really wasn't expecting to push out a breach baby without pain relief! There was never any mention of sectionning me.

There must have been about 10 people in the room at delivery. 4 registrars, the midwife and medical student who had been with me all day, and some random hangers on who came in for a nosy! I must admit it didn't really bother me as they were all encouraging me so the fact I seemed to be some sort of twin show, was fine!

F was 6lb 11 and T was 6lbs. Both good weights!

We're home now and its all good. Its a bit of a struggle though with giving my time to the other two, particularly DS2 and its beginning to make me feel a bit teary that I can't spend time with him as I have to feed the twins.

The feeding is going ok. Milk not in yet so am topping up with formula. Want to avoid being readmitted like with DS2 as my milk never properly came in, but the boys are doing ok on colostrum and about 10 mls of formula each feed.

grinning comtessa I have nothing but praise for the qmc. Even though I didn't get my epidural, it wasn't really their fault I dilated so quickly. The midwife who was with me throughout the whole thing was fabulous and I felt looked after before and after this time ( I think because I had the high bp with a twin pregnancy I was given special attention though).

Must go back now and see if there are other arrivals!
