Congratulations to all the new mummies!

Another one here who was awake at stupid o'clock. It's very annoying, especially when dd was asleep for a change!

Comtessa if you were wandering around the Victoria Centre on Saturday afternoon, I may well have passed you. We were there too. Far too busy and bustly for my liking, plus I can hardly walk. Had to get a new mobile as mine just died and was so frazzled I didn't take in anything I was told.

I also went to Mothercare to get some new maternity bras. Can anyone explain how on earth my back measurement has changed by 8 inches from the last time I was measured??? (same shop). Assistant reckons I should wear one 8 inches smaller, but bigger cup size. Very odd!

And as for pregnarage, I am officially sick of people saying "not had it yet" etc. I'm only 39+2, and went 9 days over with dd. And to the lady yesterday who told me she had all her three sons 9 to 14 days early in a smug fashion - well whoopee for you!! Ahem. Sorry.

As you were... HmmGrin

sarahbuff · 08/11/2010 09:35

Another one getting "you're still here??" comments... Grin I'm 39+6 and told EVERYONE I know this entire pregnancy that I will be late without a doubt, but no ones seems to have taken any notice. At least I can be smug and say "I told you so" to the seemingly hundreds of people who have been completely sure I'd go early this time (last three were 8, 10 and 12 days overdue). On the plus side, I'm feeling pretty fine, no swelling, not too tired and not horribly uncomfortable. Also is a bit of a downside though because that makes me think I'll be ages yet before I go into labour!! Oh well. Congrats to all the new mummies, your birth sounded lovely Celestine, hope you and baby are settling in well and feeling good!

comtessa · 08/11/2010 09:44

grinningbee Victoria Centre on a Saturday? Oh my, you're braver than me. The rest of town was bad enough and the Vic Centre is even getting bad during the week now. (Must not get sweary to random strangers, repeat, must not get sweary to random strangers...)

Hope all the witching-hour people get to have some much-needed rest today.

Woke up this morning with some dampness and was hoping (clutching at straws) that maybe this was a case of waters trickling rather than gushing. Probably a bit much to ask as only 37+1. But my knees are really feeling all the weight I'm carrying. I stepped on the scales over the weekend too - getting on for four stone now (inwardly screams). But it's all on bump, not even on boobs as still fitting some gypsy style size 10 pre-pregnancy tops from New Look. Confused

Anyway, I have my list for the day and now I will stop moaning and go have a bath while I still have the luxury of time all to myself.

Mibby · 08/11/2010 10:29

We were in town (Notts) on Sat afternoon too, how odd :) Wonder whether we passed each other and didn't realise

Today is D day and last night looked promising but it all fizzeled out to nothing so am very grumpy today. And its raining and I have a huge pile of ironing to do :(

Hope everyone else is as well as possible xx

comtessa · 08/11/2010 10:37

Perhaps we should all walk around with red flags, that way we can all recognise each other and also be warning the general public to NOT, under ANY circumstances approach, talk to or pat the hormonal pregnant lady. As she WILL bite you. See all these lovely teeth?Grin

comtessa · 08/11/2010 10:38

Speaking of which, better get dressed and head in again. Hoping the rain will make everyone else in the whole of Nottingham stay at home today. Unless they're a friendly MNer with a red flag, of course :)

grinningbee · 08/11/2010 10:42

I know one thing, I'm not going back to the town centre at all until after Xmas!

Well, apart from the QMC anyway... Grin

Dd has covered every inch of floor with toys this morning. And I have last nights washing up to do... and washing to sort, hospital bag to pack, plus a bag for dd. And I'm sure Dh asked me to do a couple of things today but I can't remember what. Bleurgh.

I think I might just step over everything and make a cuppa Grin

balijay · 08/11/2010 10:49

Grinningbee just ignore the lot and make a coffee... thats what I'm doing Grin

rollerbaby · 08/11/2010 11:10

just had lots of bloody show this morning and lots of cramps til 2am last night... not long now I hope!!!

comtessa · 08/11/2010 11:13

Thinking of you honeymoo! Hope this is everything starting properly for you x

cluelessnchaos · 08/11/2010 11:37

good luck honeymoo,

Just had another midwife here for a home visit, she was going to try and do a sweep but the head isnt engaged enough

grinningbee · 08/11/2010 11:49

Balijay I've just made a cuppa and have some shortbread fingers too. Naughty but nice!

Good luck Honeymoo, hope it's all go for you now. I wonder how Smokeybacon is getting on?

I put one lot of washing on the airer and another load in, but washing up is still in the sink. I did give in to the urge to clean the toaster and kettle though Hmm

Toys still everywhere, but if I tidy them she'll only do it again till she goes to bed!

fromheretomaternity · 08/11/2010 11:57

Ds2 born Friday night at 8pm, 8lb 10oz, just half an hour after arriving at hospital!!

Are there other bonfire night babies out there?

Vix7 · 08/11/2010 12:27

Gluck honeymoo!

Fromhere congrats!! Nice size bub!
Half hour !?!?

Finally discharged fr hospital yday. Cleared in e morn n spent most of afternoon waiting for discharge papers. The longer we waited e more stressed i got. By e time nurse came round to do a final bp/hr test, I had been waiting >4h n seen ano family in same room go off. Little wonder both numbers were elevated, no?
More waiting as doc was consulted, test redone (still high). Finally allowed to leave after speaking to doc who also agreed high # probably due to stress of waiting. Phew.

Baby is settling in at home (we hope!). Sleeps like an angel, feeds like a demon!

Rinnyx · 08/11/2010 13:08

Aw big congrats celestinelass and fromheretomaternity and glad your finally home Vix7 :)

Well today is D day for me also and it feels like every other day, DS happy with his bum in my ribs and me well and truelly fed up now :(
Going to walk over to the local shop soon and get some chocolate powder to make a drink to help with my 'feel sorry for my self' mood

fromheretomaternity · 08/11/2010 14:23

Yep half an hour - was having contractions every 5 mins so hospital said stay home - then they accelerated very suddenly and by the time I got to the delivery room I was already pushing!

Much quicker than no 1 but sadly not any less painful!

comtessa · 08/11/2010 15:14

Congratulations fromheretomaternity! Wow, what a speedy birth.

Sending you chocolate cake Rinnyx. Just ate a whole pack of Weight Watchers carrot cake. Which I figure is about the same amount as one regular slice of cake.

lainey1981 · 08/11/2010 16:14

congrats fromheretomaternity amazingly speedy birth - must have been a bit of a worry getting to the hospital on time.

Vix bet your glad to be at home, enjoy it

am having a v lazy day, it was all i could do to put the dishwasher and washing machine on. Have had a couple of uncomfy days with contraction type things v irregular and like bad period pain so guessing just BH? feel like baby is even lower than before (was 3/5 engaged last week) as soooo much pressure down there now.

me and DP tried to get things moving last night -the old fashioned way Wink, was v awkward trying to find a position that didn't kill, but managed it in the end. bless DP i have been neglecting him since have been pg - oh well have another 'session' booked in for thursday (oh the romance). SPD is particularly bad today, but all for a good cause ey?

have been have lots of cervical mucus today (tmi), so not sure if start of a show or just normal?

think am just trying to convince myself that LO is ready - could still be another 25 days I guess as they don't induce til 40+10. fingers crossed will be before then.

hope those of you due/overdue are coping ok Smile

Fenouille · 08/11/2010 17:01

congratulations to all the new arrivals since I last checked in. Off to a bit of a rocky start here as little Norry lost +10% in the first couple of days as he wasn't managing to feed at all. Having asked a million times whether they thought there might be a tongue tie and being told to stop being silly they finally confirmed it's probably due to tongue tie... Got an appointment on Wed to have it cut and at the moment we're feeding a mix of expressed milk and formula. We're using bottles at the moment so I hope we'll be able to reestablish breast feeding but with such a rapid weight loss we didn't feel we could faff around too much. He'd sleeping on the breast all night (and lots during the day) so hopefully he'll get into the swing of it quickly.

For whoever asked, Einar means lone warrior - DH's family have a bit of a thing for Scandinavian names but it goes well with the German part of his surname.

One last thing - how do you manage nappy changes so as to avoid your angelic son peeing on you? I've been caught out twice now grr.

cluelessnchaos · 08/11/2010 17:28

fenouille when I was changing ds I used to keep a wad of cotton wool to put on his willy as soon as the nappy came off and held it there until mission completed, it seemed to be if he wasnt exposed to the cool air he didnt wee, or else the cotton wool caught it, but to be fair you are not the mum of a boy until you have been "baptised" a few times

BorisTheBold · 08/11/2010 19:40

Hi all,

Congratulations to fromheretomaternity, sounds like an excellent birth!

Just back from my "monitoring" appointment at the hospital. Started having contractions at around 9.30am this morning and attended pre-booked hosp appoint at 1pm. BP lovely, low protien in urine, contractions every 4 mins - me starting to be happy. Scanner brought in to double check baby's position, as agreed when section cancelled last Friday.

Yep - you've guessed it, baby has moved AGAIN Angry and is now breech again. Arrrrggh, there are no words for how frustrated I am at the moment.

Have to go back tomorrow afternoon for an ECV, if successful the hosp will break membranes to engage baby's head and get things moving. If ECV is unsuccessful tomorrow then another section will be scheduled. However, still having contractions at the moment and if these persist, we have to go back to the hospital straight away for EMCS.

Nightmare, as you can imagine, especially as we live 500 miles away from respective families and keep having to arrange childcare for DDs.

Off for a bath now and some peace. Please send me some anti-labour vibes as I really want to give the ECV a chance tomorrow!

Fenouille · 08/11/2010 20:03

My goodness Boris you're in my thoughts tonight, hope you can avoid the EMCS.

Thanks clueless that's pretty much what I've been doing, just hoped there might be a magic solution :) He hasn't done it to his Dad yet though, so I might wait to share your tip until his 'baptism'

Vix7 · 08/11/2010 20:36

Boris oh my you poor thing!

(has stern words with bub to stop his gymnastic routine. stay head down now...)

Fen, my friends who have boys all warn me about projectile pee and poo. my gal has done one pee in the middle of changing diaper on me already. thank goodness diaper was still on and could catch the 'blessing'.

umf · 08/11/2010 20:47

Boris! Thinking of you!

JFly · 08/11/2010 20:52

Congratulations, FromHere and Celestine! Jasper is on our boy "list". Lovely.

Hope we have baby news from honeymoo tomorrow.

Boris I am Shock and a bit Sad for you! Do you get any drugs for the ECV or is it not supposed to hurt? I really hope that things "turn around" for you (hah!) and you avoid a section.
