Just a new thread as I noticed we are near the limit (again)!

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
angels1 · 16/11/2010 11:34

I think my classes are dec or jan, but they are in sevenoaks (apart from tour) as that's where I have all my mw check ups etc. The hospital tour is the main one for me - I want to see what it's like so I can mentally prepare myself for what my experience will be like - I think seeing the rooms etc will settle the nerves a bit! I know 3 other people (plus you makes 4) that are all due around the same time and are going to pembury Grin. Very excited at the thought of ensuite room - at least I can clean it all myself (or get DH to) before I use it (I'm a bit of a clean/germ freak and have already purchased a family sized pack of dettol wipes for my hospital bag as I don't trust hospital cleaners!).

angels1 · 16/11/2010 11:36

oh and 40weeks my friend was told by her mw that once pembury are moved into new hospital they won't turn people away to maidstone like they do now - am hoping that was reliable info!

40 weeks When I'm not fantasising pretending he's Javier Bardem he's a boring old policeman Grin

Congrats on new car, mmm lovely new smell.

40Weeks · 16/11/2010 11:48

Oh yes I dont think its too common angels I am sure you will all be fine!

Am off to a meeting now, how exciting!

Catch up again soon

Oh and forgot to say last week Mothercare were doing Buy One get one half price on Mat tops - not sure if they still are but might be worth a look, they dont have a great range but some bits are ok - they have a lovely navy dress but alas I dont have any Xmas parties to go to so pointless for me Sad

NeedToSleepZZZ · 16/11/2010 11:58

I'm a little Envy at this talk of Pembury; it sounds sooo good Grin! I would consider choosing a hospital birth as my first choice if it were near me...

angels I love the fact you're stocking up on dettol wipes; I'm doing the same, for new flat and just in case I need to go to hospital. My mum is fully aware she'll be on cleaning duty if I get transferred, I don't trust the cleaning staff either (not 'don't trust' them just think they have such impossible jobs that there's no way they can clean everything in the time they're given).

when does everyone's antenatal classes start? i'm not booked in till late Jan so will have legs crossed so lo doesn't come early Wink

NeedToSleepZZZ · 16/11/2010 12:00

wiggles I'm with you on javier, he's on my 'list' Wink

ZeroMinusZero · 16/11/2010 12:02

Glad its not just me keeping my legs crossed needtosleep but I do find it odd they cut it so fine. Mine only needs to be three weeks early and I miss my third class!

oh no, not javier chat again - I really don't get it, but then maybe I have odd taste (I used to have a bit of a secret crush on Louis Theroux and there's something very appealing about Michael Palin (if he wasn't so much older than me that is) Blush.

Have just read that back and realised it's most probably me that's the odd one here Confused

I did read the other day (forget where) that the man on the go compare ad is a suprisingly popular secret crush. Can't see that one myself Hmm.

Tarlia · 16/11/2010 12:51

Good afternoon, I'm also a little Envy of the talk of a brand new hospital! If I have a normal birth as soon as baby is fed we are sent off to the 'hospital hotel' where we will pretty much be left to get on with it, we have to seek help, then discharged after one night - rather scary! The only upside is OH can pay to stay with us, so no lonely nights. I'm worried sick about going into labour at home, we are on the 4th floor, no lift and also getting back up when we are discharged!!

Re baby carriers, I wanted to go for a ring/tie sling but was vetoed by OH who really wanted a baby bjorn. Since I have a bad back anyway he will do most of the carrying, so he got his way. We went for the Synergy which is just like the active with the back support, but made from mesh so hopefully not that sweaty!

ledkr are you icing that carrot cake? [drool]

TPT 9 and about 1cm, so 1cm bigger than last week. I feel bigger too!!

40Weeks · 16/11/2010 13:04

Oh should point out that although car is new to me, it's 3yrs old so not brand new. But still, last car was 10yrs old!

Who said carrot cake?!?! That's all I can think about now. The frosting is the best bit!

ledkr · 16/11/2010 13:32

oh yes Tarlia,i tend to just drizzle some ordinary water icing on laced with some vanilla.Anyone know how to make the cream cheese type...Angels
wigglesits not all that popular here either.I dont even like them all that much haha. When i met dh he followed me around aclub as i sipped from my vodka and coke saying over my shoulder "i dont do coppers or younger men go away"we still laugh about it now,he persued me for ages then took me on a date to a posh resturant where i got hopelesly drunk and couldnt eat anything and knocked over the chair when i got up to use the bathroom.I knew i loved him when i woke up in my bed and he was curled up on the floor covered by a thin blanket!!Still not keen on coppers tho haha.

wigglesrock · 16/11/2010 13:43

Ledkr " I don't do coppers or younger men" my new favourite phrase of the week, vvv funny!! Definitely top title for autobiography Grin

Well do we think there will be a huge increase in baby Kates, Catherines next year? Kate/Katie has been the top name in NI for a while, so there may actually be a decrease Grin

PDR · 16/11/2010 13:44

Ledkr yes it's me - my belt is too small :( It claims to be "universal" but clearly not! Does size 7 have any measurements on it? Would love to swap but thinking they might not make belts in whale size!

ledkr · 16/11/2010 14:02

pdr wtf is universal? Its quite big,i will go and measure it.My spd has been quite mild for a few days the link is that i did nothing at all over the weekend just pottered at home. Was feeling all smug and excited yesterday till i walked from the drs to Waitrose-half a mile at most and then round waitrose slowly before the agony returned and i was walking like John Wayne with my box of cakes.
wiggles that was very random, why would there be an increase in Kates?I actually referred to baby as Ivy yesterday so i think it will stick now.My baby shower is booked for 27th-early due to xmas and dd birthday 10 days before my due date, also dh Mum will be here so was hoping to get a bloody smile or expression of excitment out of her.She better cos in having it to suit her i have sacrificed someone special being there.I am not having gifts cos we are trying to raise money for my niece who had ds and needs a special bike so having a raffle and some games-guess the weight of the baby etc.
PIL have still not even given us tenner towards the baby stuff.I find it very strange indeed.I gave my son 100 pounds for my first gc and its kind of too late now as i have got it all.The only contribution was the relic pram-remember angels squeak squeak

Dreya · 16/11/2010 14:23

ledkr the raffle for your niece is such a lovely idea. I'm feeling a bit emotional today and reading that just brought a little lump to my throat! I hope you raise lots and lots of money.
My PIL haven't bought us anything for the baby yet either. Actually, I'm lying. FIL bought us this disturbed looking 8ins knitted toy rabbit with red X's for eyes with a weird neon green dress on. I don't know what to make of it. Confused It looks like a voodoo doll thing. And he bought us one of those 'Guess How Much I Love You' baby record books which I much prefer! Hmmm, I've just realised the rabbit theme.
I'm new to MN. Can I ask how I do the toilet paper thing please?!

ledkr · 16/11/2010 14:32

just measure your bump with loo roll and record how many sheets it is.I dont know why we cant just use a tape they are a bit strange on this thread haha joking.
I get emotional very easily actually, homeless men in the street set me off as does x factors mat when he sings.
I have been given so much for the baby that i dont need a lot so thought the money better spent on that,in laws are funny arent they?is it your first?its not mine but my dh's first and their first gc so i expected more tbh. They live away and i am already resenting the visit they will make and have to stay when i am recovering from my section so this is hardly going to help. The rabbit sounds psychotic,i would hide it.I locked dd's two china spooky dolls in the cupboard the other night when dh was at work late, they were looking very murderous.

angels1 · 16/11/2010 14:35

ledkr I think Natalie Cassidy might have stolen the famous relic pram (see piccie at bottom of this link)

boomnews.info/natalie-cassidy-shows-off-her-adorable-daughter-eliza-as-she-brings-newborn-to-the-park/

My MIL keeps buying us stuff but too much - she doesn't seem to ask what we have/need, just buys everything she likes the look of Hmm. It's actually getting a bit annoying - goodness knows what she'll be like when baby comes.

ledkr I haven't made a cream cheese icing for years, but I used to make a rather nice gluten free st clements cake and the cream cheese icing I made for that (I think, from memory) had mascapone, icing sugar and lemon juice in. Think it's usual to use philidelphia not mascapone though.

dreya just measure the biggest/widest part of your bump with toilet paper and see how many sheets it is so we can see the progress (or lack of) every week.

Feeling exhausted but quite pleased with myself as have spent the whole day so far wrapping christmas pressies - nearly all done now. Have been bopping to all my christmas albums whilst doing it Grin. Had to have a rest break every half hour though as I get so tired/back ache quickly. Yawn. Not sure if I'm now capable of getting off of the sofa.

smallblackflowers · 16/11/2010 14:40

Hello all. I'm 9 and about a cm for TPT, so about 1.5cm increase on last week.

Dreya How to measure - just get some toilet roll and wrap it around the widest part of you (assuming that's your bump!) and count the number of sheets. Simple!

Ledkr hope your raffle is a success too Smile

I stupidly decided to clean the downstairs toilet today, including skirting boards, floor, etc etc. It really needed doing but I am signed off work for a reason and that reason is not cleaning. I ended up in a very faint state on the sofa for far too long before I started to feel ok again. Lesson learned.

ZeroMinusZero · 16/11/2010 14:43

One of the cuddly toys my mil has bought us already says 'not for under 3s' on it Hmm

angels1 · 16/11/2010 14:56

Love the 'not suitable for under 3's' toy zero. We should have a little competition to see what the most ridiculous/inapropriate gift PIL/anoyone give us. I joke but obv I know they all mean well and are trying their hardest to be useful/good/thoughtful so really we shouldn't be do mean

Lulabel27 · 16/11/2010 15:38

Hi All
So sorry I've not been on this thread for ages, I'm just saying hello and will read through all the posts when I get home to catch up on the news! Will also do the bump measure later :-)

ledkr · 16/11/2010 15:50

angelstoo much time on your hands haha, what a vile pram tho,did you notice her shoes too?equally vile.Is Natalie cassidy the new Mylene Class? For god sake love you've had a baby so bloody what?
I made the icing from philli and butter and icing sugar,i added this lovely vanilla i bought in mexico 2 yrs ago its lovely. Just going to have some.
sbflowersIt amazing isnt it?What are we meant to do re our houses tho you cant just leave it minging can you.I put some washing in drier then away and got dressed and then felt all breathless and tired.I am convinced there is a link to spd.
My pil have really p,d me off. They ring dh and i can hear them ask about me but never for long and dont ask to speak to me at all.I hear dh say "yes all's well" and i feel like shouting "apart from the sdp, anaemia, breathlessness and extreme changes to my whole life yeah all is very well"
They are visting(holidaying) with us next weekend and they will be getting a shock cos i am doing my baby shower then putting on my extra large pjs and watching x factor, none of the usual gourmet food and attention they normally recieve i afraid, and i told dh if the bath room is dirty and the spare bed not changed it can stay like it.ooo the venom is pouring from me!I thought i would set a president for when the baby comes. If fil says "what are we doing for dinner?" i will have a suitably cutting reply prepared haha.

knittakid · 16/11/2010 17:13

needtozzzz I hope you enjoyed the choc croisant, they are one of my fav things at the mo... until I found out that I have put on 8 kilos since week 8. I had the 24/5 or whatever week appointment with the mw, finally met the one that is supposed to be mine and she was lovely, really supportive of the hb idea, and said really nice things about my tummy, the baby scan and his heartbeat. She didn't say anything about my weight so I will go back to my choc croisant diet Smile I can't do TPT as we are extremely short on loo roll... am not sure we are ready to be parents...
I didn't seem to grow for the past 4 weeks according to the TPTs but I am sure it is growing, it must be just the way he is inside or something like that, and your mw will meassure you when you go so you can ask. Appart from that I feel great, am in a constant high, which is very weird and makes me worry that I am enjoying this too much.

Sorry about me me me message, I have been reading all the posts and laughing and sympathising.

Sorry I have forgotten who has been signed off recently and has lots of time on their hands, can I suggest knitting? Grin

WanderingSheep · 16/11/2010 17:53

Helloooo dears!

My TPT measurement has gone up to 8.5 this week! Although used a different brand this week (morrison's own) and I'm sure the sheets are smaller Hmm. I think I have grown though, my skin feels stretched to the limit like it can't stretch anymore!

We have nothing in to cook so DH is bringing an Italian home for tea, yum!

I have to say that I quite like Natalie Cassidy! I've been watching her "Natalie Cassidy: Becoming Mum" and she seems really down to earth. Not like Myleene Klass who is all hair flicky, giggly giggly, fake smiley! Plus Myleene seems to be at the opening of an envelope these days!
