What's Coppers? We have I'm a celeb on. I can't find the energy to be interested though!

ZeroMinusZero · 15/11/2010 21:40

Documentary-thing on C4 about the police. Is really good, reminds me of One Born Every Minute a little bit, but with the police instead of midwives. Reeeeeeally interesting and funny.

What's happening on IACGMOOH? How's Lembit Opik getting on?

ledkr · 15/11/2010 21:52

Hi girls.zero cant watch coppers it winds me up they are soooo arrogant and dh is a copper and even he gets annoyed by it.
Cant believe howmuch you lot have been nattering,it cos we are all off sick.
I am signed off until end of month then am going to get another as i figure if i cant even walk my child to school i cant work.It is interesting a few of you are getting the breathlessness and exhaustion now too,i think it is either linked to or exasperated by spd.I have now relaxed about the sickness as nobody will thank you for going in and being a martyr and they arent the ones whio have to live with all our probs.
pdr is it you who said your belt is too small, they sent mine too big,its size 7 we could swap, let me know cos if not i am going to stitch some velcro on it to make it smaller.
Glad you said about h and m, have felt guiltily fat since i bopught jeans there and had to have an 18-i was 14-i have only gained about a stone and a half which mw says is good esp for an old bird.Had my 28 wk check today and all ok,she said that even tho my iron levels arent worryingly low, they have still dropped dramatically since i was first booked in and that was with taking a preg vit and iron so its on wards with the iron and black pooh for me!
The stitchy feelings you are getting sound like round ligament pain and are very painfull,i get them when moving suddenly or getting up from lying down, what with the spd and that i make a hell of a noise and fuss when i get up for a wee 50 times in the night.
Prof can you recommend a sling that doesnt make your lower back hurt, cos i found using one the same as being heavily pg,also when can you use them after a section?

WanderingSheep · 15/11/2010 21:56

I'm not paying much attention, TBH. I think Lembit is having a row with Linford Christie but I'm not sure.

Gillian McKeith (sp?) is getting on my nerves! If you're that terrified of bugs you wouldn't even go camping let alone go to the jungle where you're gonna have to do bush tucker trials and such Hmm. Every year you get some idiot sleb who gives the same old spiel, "well I've never watched it!" What. Ever! You've never heard anyone even talk about it then? Hmm! Grin

ZeroMinusZero · 15/11/2010 22:02

ledkr wandered what you would think of it because of your DH. It's all about the Kent police so I'm going to have to be loyal to my fellow Kentians (is that a word....?) and stick with it. Oh well.

Sheep glad Gillian McKeith isn't up for it, I've never liked her and her pretend "doctor" ways.

ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 15/11/2010 22:08

Which did you try, ledkr? I'm trying to remember when I used one with DS post-section; DH had two weeks' paternity leave and he carried DS for that and in my memory I started carrying DS in the sling from that point, so from about 16 days in that case. But I could be misremembering and I don't think I went out all that much with DS at that point. I know by 4-5 weeks post-section I was definitely carrying him in the sling whenever we went out.

NeedToSleepZZZ · 16/11/2010 09:19

Good morning everyone!

Hope you are all well today. The sun is shining down here and it really makes a difference, feel a lot calmer and happier.

TPT Getting a bit worried as down to 7 1/4 which is smaller than I've been since doing this. I know I've lost weight in the last week due to stress and moving but thought bump had grown. Can still feel him kicking and doing circuit training (or whatever it is he gets up to) in there but think I'll mention it to mw on Friday when I have my 28 week appt. Think I'll have a chocolate croissant this morning and start the day as I mean to go on!

knittakid I think we're due around the same time and I know our measurements have been similar so wondered how you were doing/ growing?

NeedToSleepZZZ · 16/11/2010 09:22

oh and angels, just saw the advert for recipe of the week on mn and thought of you as it's gluten free (choc, almond and chestnut cake). looks extremely good..... Wink!

ZeroMinusZero · 16/11/2010 09:44

I'm still around the 9 mark for tpt which I feel like I've been on for some time. But I was wondering, are we expecting to grow more than we actually will? Obviously well be getting bigger and bigger but perhaps its a lot more gradual than I originally thought. has anyone out there been pregnant before have any idea how many sheets they were by the end? Or did noone else bother to measure themselves with toilet paper last time?

Hello all.Prof-i just had the standard baby bjorn which you dont rate so i will try a different one.I will mostly use the pram but i was thinking it would be handy to pop into town on the bus before i can drive again.
We are having alook around the new hosp on 3rd Dec. I am really pleased as we dont even know where to go in an emergency as yet and i would like to see where i will be staying and find out their policies on stuff.Mw said yesterday that nice guidelines now state you can go home after 12hrs following a section.Well i think someone from nice needs to go and have their stomach and womb sliced open before they make this judgement.I am doubtfull i would even get up to my bedroom on the 2nd floor until at least 24-48 hrs,i told her i will be squatting.
On the cake subject-i had the most amazing cupcake from waitrose yesterday it was cherry with a rose flavoured icing.I have not had a craving yet but if the carrot cake i am making does not hit the spot i feel atrip to waitrose will be in order later.
Also made a fab apple crumble yesterday and had it with cream, sooo good.

ledkr · 16/11/2010 10:13

zero i was probably a whole roll with dd haha.I am 10 due to my huge inner swimming pool.

ledkr · 16/11/2010 10:17

Sorry to go on but had to share.I have just got my dress from e bay.Its in the catalogue(JoJo) for 40 and i got it for 10 brand new as the lady had her baby early it really nice.Pity i havent got anything but ugg boots to go with it as my legs are so swollen :(

wigglesrock · 16/11/2010 10:28

Morning all, I feel that I've gotten huge over the past week, bump has just expanded hugely, it's all out front, know that it is a sign of boy or girl but can't remember which!!!

Lekr - I have changed hospitals as well, am now having dc3 in the same hospital as dd1 , and dd2, we moved last year to a different area but not overly fussed on closer maternity ward. Mainly because they look for a 3-6 hour discharge after birth!! I have 2 children under 5.5 no way I'm rushing back home, I too am claiming squatters rights. Its funny at hospital where I'm having baby they really aren't keen on discharging too early. I may be the only one but I find someone else bringing me tea, visitors limited to 20 mins, and an endless supply of trashy magazines, and a beautiful new baby to gaze at for hours pretty close to my idea of heaven. Plus dd2 still prefers me to wipe her bum after a poo, not sure I'll be in the mood for that Grin

ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 16/11/2010 10:33

The same advice I gave angels probably holds, then (although from talking to other people on here most GPs will give you the OK to drive from about 2 weeks post-section if you ask them).

I would have discharged myself ASAP if I'd had a section last time rather than a VBAC. The first time there was virtually no help in hospital so I was doing everything and it would have been far easier to be at home with DH jumping to fulfil my every whim.

ledkr · 16/11/2010 10:45

Yes i know what you mean and i will be 10 miles away from home so may be anxious to get home,i am not a big baby with ops but i still doubt a 10 mile car journey and 2 flights of stairs to my bedroom,i drove at about 4 wks after the insurance co okayed it but my friend has had a good idea and stuck to the 6 weeks as she said she will be back to normal then and wont get this time again-she does have avery useless dh tho to be fair.
When dd was born i insisted on keeping her by my bed but she choked and i couldnt get move to get her so had to pick her up by her babygro to tip her up.She had gone blue and bought up meconium andhad to go to special care,i try not to think about what could have happended so let them take her that night.
wiggles glad its not just me.I quite like languishing in hospital recieving small doses of vistors and having my meals cooked.Spending interupted time with my new baby preparing to meet our public. My only concern is that between me and dh's jobs we will be in the town where we are based and are rather dreading bumping into clients. There are 18 side rooms at new hosp so i am rather hoping we can get one but dont want to ask and look prissy,do you get that prob? When we went for a scan early on when bleeding we saw a couple of local crims who were sneering at us,i told them to sod off much to dh's amusment.

wigglesrock · 16/11/2010 10:54

Ledkr there are a few side rooms in our hospital, but only 4 beds in each ward so chances of running into someone we know is quite slim, especially as we've moved. We also have to be very careful re Mr Wiggles job, its not the most respected of professions in NI!! That was one of the other reasons we didn't fancy the other hospital, although Mr Wiggles didn't tell me he wasn't happy going there until I had made decision. We have quite a few imaginatative answers when asked what he does for a living Grin Am sure some parents at dd1 school think I've made him up as they never see him at anything!!

By the way re dentist - think it depends on that actual dentist. My dentist is NHS too and he's happy enough to do stuff like denture, bridge work through the pregnancy allowance but he gets a lot of custom from me so he likes to keep me sweet!!!

ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 16/11/2010 10:59

Ah, you see the meals are crap in my hospital, AND they make you walk a fair distance to get them, AND they won't let you carry your baby so you either have to leave her behind or push her in one of thoe plastic bubble cots and then somehow juggle tray of food as well on your way back. I missed a lot of meals when in with DS.

ZeroMinusZero · 16/11/2010 11:03

Hmm my situation is very lucky as if I gave birth today I'd have to do it in one of the oldest, most dilapidated hospital around, but by the time I pop they should have hopefully opened the new one which includes private rooms for everyone. So while right now I'm very keen to get out of hospital ASAP when im in there it might be a different story. And of course if there are problems and I need a section I won't have much choice

wigglesrock · 16/11/2010 11:09

Prof You have to walk to get your meals!! No wouldn't be having that, the food in my hospital is awful but Mr Wiggles loves it, think 1970's school dinners and you're there Grin So we swap, he brings in yummy sandwiches for me and I save him some jam roly poly and something that looks like mince!!

Very pleased with myself, am starting to get on with some Christmas shopping, went to ELC this morning and got some stuff for dd2, to be fair they're presents from my mil and sister but I said I'd pick them up because I'm a doormat giver!!

angels1 · 16/11/2010 11:15

ohhh zero are you going to pembury too? Might see you there while I enjoy my own private room Wink. I hear they might be running a little late and not opening mat unit until mid jan Confused. Please let it run on time and let me not give birth too early - I don't think I could cope with the oldest hospital around with massive wards! I also heard we might get ensuite rooms - is the rumour really true???!

Thank you so much for the sling/baby carrier advice prof et al. I now feel thoroughly confused as to what to get though Hmm. I don't think DH would use a sling.

My TPT is 10 again. And I was sure I had grown as feel much bigger and clothes are all mgetting tighter around the tum. Must be spreading out all over as opposed to just out front I guess.

Thanks needtosleep for the cake recipe suggestion - I spotted it yesterday and thought I might give it a go. Might have to wait a while though as I'm still rubbish with cooking.

Angels yes that's right and I think they are ensuit. Are you doing antenatal classes there? I just got mine booked but they're not till early Feb so I really hope I can keep my legs crossed until then. I was a bit surprised I didn't get January but oh well, its the first two classes that are the important one, the third is a tour of the hospital which isn't quite as vital.

40Weeks · 16/11/2010 11:28

Hello everyone

Have been offline for a few days but am back now! Hope you are all well, I havent had a read through but TPT is 8.5 which I was 2 weeks ago? Hmmm, dont get it as have gained 2lbs since then Confused

My friend was booked into Pembury but they were full when she went into labour and she got sent to Maidstone (I may hve mentioned this already) and she didnt know the way so was giving her mum directions from her iPhone between contractions! I hope you do get into the new version of the hospital girls, that would be lovely!

I am seeing the MW later today so hoping to get MatB1 sorted as only have 2 weeks left of work and god only knows they wont be able to sort out mat allowance out that quickly! I think I can claim from 11 weeks before EDD which should work out about right. And hopefully get the HIP grant too! That will certainly help.

Got our new car at the weekend, woo hoo, its lovely and comfy and am so glad we finally sorted it out as have been threatening to since Jan!! Before we even knew about DC3!

oooh and I made my Xmas cake at the weekend with DS1&2 - they helped stir in all the fruit etc and thought they were great. What they couldnt grasp though was that we wouldnt be eating it that afternoon, but would be waiting 6 weeks to scoff it! They thought I was mental.

40Weeks · 16/11/2010 11:33

Oooh wiggles what does DH do???

Hmmm I hadnt thought about getting rest in hopsital, as I will be at home for birth hopefully....will have a 2 yr old and a just turned 4 yr old - I must be mad! Will be sending them to PILs for the duration but they havent never stayed overnight so not really sure? Oh well, DH will just have to manage as i too plan of gazing and cuddling baby and feeling all proud of myself Smile
