Just a new thread as I noticed we are near the limit (again)!

Haven't seen natalies programme yet but I tend to enjoy most pregnancy shows so ill try to get into it.

Can anyone who has seen a physio tell me if you need recovery time afterwards to let the goodness pink in? I ask because I'm seeing one for the first time tomorrow and am planning on popping into school afterwards, but I might be able to put it off by a few hours if that's going to benefit the physio session.

"Not suitable for under-3s" means "we haven't put this through the expensive testing we'd need to put it through if we want to market it to under-3s", though, not necessarily that it's REALLY unsuitable for under-3s. You have to use your own common-sense.

wigglesrock · 16/11/2010 18:37

Ledkr mentioned influx of Kates because of royal wedding. Isn't this your in-laws first grandchild - thought they'd be drowning you with stuff and well meaning advice Wink

My in-laws much as I love them are champion at bringing home deadly unsuitable gifts from holiday. The last ones where these really freaky clowns with painted ceramic faces, dd2 pulled the hand off and was almost impaled by a giant spike Shock

WanderingSheep · 16/11/2010 18:42

I think people do tend to buy "not suitable for under 3s". I took DD to a birthday party of her friend who was two at the time and everyone bought her toys that said "not suitable for children under 3 years" but they were all perfectly suitable for her to play with. Agree with Prof that you just have to use your own common sense. Toys that are really unsuitable can be put away for when they are older.

WanderingSheep · 16/11/2010 18:47

No-one has bought anything for the baby yet. With DD the ILs and my mum were arguing over who bought what, this time nobody gives one! Grin

ledkr · 16/11/2010 18:57

tends tail off with the subsequent gcs but as wiggles said i would have expected a bit more, they are just not enthsiastic at all its very strange,i am hoping they dont think they can be at my house every weekend after should they decide they like their grand daughter more than they thought cos that will annoy me after this lack of support.
Was going to call her middle name after mil but i dont think i will bother now.humph.
I get the Kate ref now wigglesbloody farce. I am a bit of an anti royalist at heart so am enjoying the thread on it at the mo,the " mn heavies"have just joined in haha
ithibk ill just lurk.

wigglesrock · 16/11/2010 19:14

Yes had a giggle at that thread myself, I was lucky my mum and mil have same first name although they use nickname versions of it, so with dd1 just used the name as her second name, all pleased, still in both their wills Grin.

40Weeks · 16/11/2010 20:12

Ooh wandering so which Italian did dh bring home for dinner, would George Clooney count, he does live in Italy...Wink

Had mw appt, all seems well and got form for my HiP grant, yippee.

I really liked Katie for a girl, in all my pregnancies, but been put off by K Waissal and now this royal wedding so am scratching
off list. Just can't find names both of us like so we have ended up with pretty boring ones IMO Sad

Would love to be fly on wall at ledkrs when PiL arrive and expect the royal treatment! Can't believe they aren't more excited! My mum is besides herself and this is dgc7! And they are ALL boys!

ZeroMinusZero · 16/11/2010 20:43

I don't really care about the royal family either way, I struggle to understand how anyone could want to watch an entire programme about Will's and Kate's relationship.

I'm with 40weeks I'm wondering what this prepared sarcastic comment is... I always find, if in doubt, simple insults can be remarkably affective, ie: "oh fuck off, you fucking fuck" or something like that tends to get the message across, though obviously more original ones can be funnier.

I don't suppose anyone out there who has had physio knows the answer to my physio question earlier, do they....?

PDR · 16/11/2010 20:54

Ledkr forgive me for I am an idiot the belt is not too small at all - I was not doing it right Confused ! Of course
that doesn't help you what with yours being too big and all!

Going to speak to my GP tomorrow as sick note ends on Friday... I tried to do a bit of "normal" activity today with DS to see how I faired... not good really :( Managed to walk round garden centre with buggy (good to lean on) but was in absolute agony in the car on the way home and had to sit in tears on the drive before I could bring myself to climb out of the seat! I will tell this to my lovely GP as I think the "psycological" effects of SPD are really getting to me now and I am starting to get a bit depressed. DS is only 2 so totally unaware thank goodness but can't help feeling sorry for him at the lack of "fun" - he is at nursery tomo so they will keep him busy!

Sorry this is a very selfish post!

ElleB1980 · 16/11/2010 21:10

Hello everyone, it's been ages!
Had a flick through to catch up, glad those of you who are signed off are getting the chance for some r&r. I've been horrendously busy at work with a huge event but it's finally done with and have escaped for a weeks holiday this week and am hoping to not have to deal with anything much when I do go back next week!

Kick started my holiday at the end of last week with a strange water infection - I've had millions before but this one presented with random symptoms which took a few days and a midwife and emergency doctor to diagnose. V odd. Topped that excitement by going for a tour of maternity facilities on Sunday and ending up almost fainting so they hooked me up to some
monitors and gave me a delightful internal exam to check up on baby. A real backstage tour! All is well though and I'm finally enjoying my hol by starting Christmas shopping and catching up with you lot.

Oooh, also started our NCT classes a couple of weeks ago - saw some scary looking forceps yesterday!

X

ZeroMinusZero · 16/11/2010 21:12

Not at all PDR that's what this thread is all about, isn't it? Getting things off our chest and supporting each other? Sorry to hear that things aren't working out for you. Remember that slightly less play with your DS for a few months won't affect him at all, you can always pay him attention in means other than play... I assume, not having had a child yet I'm sort of guessing.

wigglesrock · 16/11/2010 21:23

PDR hope all goes well with Doctor tomorrow, thinking of you, don't worry about fun times with ds, he'll be fine. When I had dd2, dd1 was the same age as your son and I was signed off permanently for rest of pregnancy from about this stage, she was fine, I couldn't do that much with her but we muddled along, mightn't be your ideal but CBeebies is your friend Wink

ledkr · 16/11/2010 22:00

i was thinking of fil- "What are we doing about dinner?"
me-"i dont know what are we doing about dinner cos im 7 months pregnant so i clearly wont be making it"
I normally push the boat out with nice bread and olives etc and delicious home cooked fayre for dinner,i am no longer doing that since dh and i had to eat awhole easter egg each after being served dolls sized veg lasagne after along day at work and a 3 hr journey. It sliced bread and marge all the way from now on,hahaha

TallulahBelly14 · 16/11/2010 22:50

Hello again ElleB - hope you have a relaxing week off Envy. Gosh your NCT classes have started early - I'm doing them too but not for another month! What are your group like? And what kinds of things have you talked about so far?

earlgreyismynectar · 16/11/2010 23:30

Hello ladies, enjoying catching up on everyone's news. Hope those of you with SPD / general crapness are feeling better & taking it easy. Not much to add to the other stuff. Knitta I really want to get back to my knitting again, it's been too long and I did find it so thetapeutic (though very much with a concentrated look on my face and much muttering to myself).

TPT = 8 sheets on the dot. I thought I was 9 last week but obviously I dreamt that. I have been experiencing the most horrendous indigestion & heart burn, got this when I was carrying DD too. I'm carrying high so wonder if that's contributing? Anyone else getting this? Been chewing Gaviscon tablets which I thought would be preferable to the liquid form but not so sure now, yuck!

Does anyone remember Mrs Teapot from very early stats on this thread? Well I came across a version of this name recently on another thread & I always did wonder what had happened to her & missed her funny posts. Anyway I asked if it was the same Mrs Teapot from Feb antenatal and she PM'd me today that yes she is! I got a lovely message explaining that she had indeed miscarried but is happily now 12 weeks pregnant again! I'm so pleased for her! Anyway, thought I'd pass it on to those of you who remember her!

A funny thing happened to me today. I passed a Big Issue seller who tried to sell me the magazine & I politely declined being in a bit of a rush. As I passed, he commented on me being pregnant. I smiled & nodded & went on my way & the he started to shout after me "Excuse me! Excuse me"! Which I decided to ignore Hmm then he bellowed at the top of his voice "it's going to be a BOY! & he'll have blue eyes"!! I was ready to give him some money on my way back for his psychic prediction but alas he was gone! Funnily enough, I think it IS a boy! But I'll have to wait till Feb to find out!

suzym1984 · 17/11/2010 08:01

earlygreay how funny about that big issue seller! Im amost tempted to ask you where he was so I can hunt im out! Despite wanting a surprise the suspse is now starting to kill me! Lets see if he turns out to be right!

ledkr let us know what happens with pil. Maybe politely suggest that yor fil gets his wallet out and treats you all to a meal out/ take away?

PDR hope you get on OK at the docs tomorrow and that he is sympathetic.

I am supposed to be back at work on Monday but still feel incredibly rough. I have very low blood pressure and feel like I could faint at any moment! Midwife said not to rush around or stand for too long- not possible as a teacher! Not sure what to do tho as she didnt mention getting signed off for longer so maybe I should just get on with it.

Have a lovely day everyone x

angels1 · 17/11/2010 08:27

earlgrey That's great news on mrs teapot - it's really good to hear good news like that :) Also, we had a magician (OK, so not quite a psychic) at my wedding who did the ring on a ribbon to see if it's a girl or boy on my friend who was pg at the time. He told her she wouldbe having a boy but she had a girl. She tells me all her scans showed a girl but as the ring thing said boy at the wedding she was convinced the scans were all wrong and so couldn't buy any girlie bits just incase!

Has anyone had terrible leg (especially calf) pain during the night? I woke up last night, had a little mini stretch and got shocking pain in my calf remeniscent of ligament pain but so bad I had to put all my energy into not yelping loudly and tried to stand up to see if it helped but couldn't move my leg. It lasted maybe 5 minutes of terrible pain and then wore off a bit and now I'm just left with a feeling like I've pulled a muscle in my calf. My pg book says leg cramps are common at night in pg - can a leg cramp really be so painful??

OP posts:
suzym1984 · 17/11/2010 08:38

Had no legs cramps, but I often wake in the night with hip pain! very annoying! Ive read that cramps are due to the body havig to carry around extra weight, so maybe try some gentle stretches before bed? No idea if that would help tho!

angels1 · 17/11/2010 08:41

yeah suzy I often wake with hip aches/dead hands/restless legs/ligament pain when I move at night but never such extreme leg pain. I wonder if it's as I stood up alot yesterday wrapping christmas pressies (have to do it standing up as my back hurts sitting down for long). I will try stretches and hope it never returns again!

Morning everyone!

Doc rang just as I got back in the car after dropping DS at nursery (before 9 - how efficient!) and immediately said he would sign me off for another 2 weeks. He said not to feel guilty about work and to take it easy. He is so lovely, not just becuase he is signing me off but he has been lovely to DS in the past as well when he had glue ear. I think I will get DS to draw him a Christmas card :)

I am wearing my support belt today but not yet noticed any difference... will keep going though!

angels I have had the occasional leg cramp and you're right its so painful - are you sleeping on your side?

ElleB1980 · 17/11/2010 10:11

I solved my leg cramp issues with a very expensive maternity pillow. Figured it was worth it as am already up and at 'em 3 or 4 times a night for a bathroom trip!

Tallulah - NCT classes go right up to Christmas so leaves about a month before the baby arrives. I suppose with Christmas right in the middle it would be cutting it a bit fine to go any later. So far we've covered the stages of labour, different methods of pain relief (funnily enough breathing and relaxing was highly recommended over anything medical) and this week we looked at monitoring and instrumental births. The forceps were Very Scary - although that might have been because she didn't have the actual ones, just some modified BBQ tongs which are apparently very realistic! The group are nice though, and giving the appropriate eye rolls when it gets toooooo airy-fairy which bodes well for post-birth catching up.

Elle have you found the classes useful? I too will be doing them but in January.

Good to hear about Mrs Teapot, there should be others with good news around too, I hope.

earlgrey sorry I could not remember who it was. Are you on ravelry? there are sooo many free easy patterns there, if you are not I could send you the pdfs of things if you want.
