Just a new thread as I noticed we are near the limit (again)!

geekygiraffe · 05/11/2010 15:57

Just got a delivery from ebay too - maternity wear for me (3 tops for 99p plus postage), not for baby though, heehee.
Going to fireworks tomorrow night and excited... as long as pelvis stays functional!

earlgreyismynectar · 05/11/2010 16:18

Thanks 40 for your thoughts! I quite agree, surely it would be more dangerous to carry gas & air in a car!! Slightly worrying still that she is doing her utmost to put me off, or maybe she's just plain delusional! I have a strong sense that I won't tear this time and if I do, I'll transfer to hospital then.

I laughed about your snweeze! Been there! Need to make more of a concerted effort on the pelvic floor exercises!!

All this talk of eBay is encouraging me to take a peek but tbh not knowing the sex of this one will hold me back which is no bad thing! I left most of the practical buys until after DD was born last time & expect it'll be that way again, plus I have a mountain of surplus!! If it's a boy he will no doubt wear the occasional pink item indoors!! Grin

Hope you're all having a good day & have fun Guy Fawkes tonight!

GuyFawkesIsMyLoveSlave · 05/11/2010 17:27

Someone on MN who had a homebirth got a tear stitched up at home by the mw afterwards by torchlight as there was a powercut! (just wish I could remember who it was...)

ledkr · 05/11/2010 18:09

Hi all.Been a right misery today.DD is off for weekend and me and dh were meant to be having some us time were going away but decided to stay at home and do nice things,so here i am on mn and he is sulking/falling asleep on sofa.
PDR I agree about the fireworks. I cant do anything now that involves standing or walking it so frustrating. My spd is really aching today and i am so slow in doing stuff.
Did you see the osteopath?
I have bought my pram today. I went for the oyster and got a good discount as it was last yrs model but the one i actually wanted.
Just read a bad review on it but most are good.
I dont really need clothes as i have been given so much.Need a moses or crib now.Have been stock piling nappies and am going to start with formula.I will not pack hospital bag yet tho. With my first i was 18 and went down to the hospital on my bike when in labour with my pjs in a tescos bag.

wigglesrock · 05/11/2010 18:31

Ledkr sympathies re dh, Mr Wiggles fell asleep on sofa yesterday at 3pm IN THE AFTERNOON!! Oh the rage, think he may be afraid to close his eyes at any time over the next 48hrs Grin

Have what we used to call when I was much younger a "free house" tonight. DDs are staying with my mum (army base near her has a fireworks display on 5 Nov and they can see it from her house) Mr Wiggles is working, I have already picked up Chinese food, am in pjs, planning on MNing and maybe ordering my Christmas cards!!

Had midwife appt today, all good, took her ages to find babys heartbeat, but it was really funny because we could both feel the baby kicking. This one is breech at the minute but not worrying, dd2 was breech until about 36 weeks, oh what a fun night it was the night she turned!! Hmm

Got all my forms from midwife. Posting Health in Pregnancy form off tomorrow, will be useful, overheard dd1 mentioning her Christmas list the other day Shock

angels1 · 05/11/2010 18:56

wiggles can I ask a first timer question - is it really painful when baby finally turns to birth position then? I;m imagining a rather big by that time baby trying to move upside down and your whiole tummy shifting about... Hmm

ledkr glad you got the pram you wanted for a good price. I find tickling DH when he's asleep on the sofa can be a good tactic to wake hime up Wink.

A friend gave me Tess Dalys baby diaries book today and must admit I'm not really a liker of hers but sectretly am finding it quite easy/relaxing to read and she mentions MN pg forum as a good place to look at :)

wigglesrock · 05/11/2010 19:11

I had no bother at all with dd1, but dd2 was breech which we didn't realise until about 32 weeks, she turned one night and I wouldn't describe it as painful as such, it felt weird, sort of like heartburn / indigestion but in your tummy and everything felt very tight for a few hours, the uncomfortableness(!) of it woke me and kept me awake. DD2 was 2 lbs heavier than dd1, so she seemed big!! I was induced with dd2 so she has always been a bit of an awkward bugger Grin

PDR · 05/11/2010 19:17

Hi ledkr yes I did see the Osteopath on Wednesday... Did not feel any great benefit to be honest :( Perhaps a bit easier to move yesterday but awful again today and have actually had to rest as can't do much else comfortably. Did just have a surge of energy and cook the tea though lol!
Glad you have your pram sorted! I am still looking at doubles...

In other news:

Unpacked M&P stuff and DH has assembled "cot top changer" wotzit - have a changing table in DS's room and didn't want to buy another one. Potty training DS is not even on my radar although he is 2.5 as he had glue ear hence has a speech delay and doesn't talk much so communication would be a bit of a problem!

My best friend is due tomorrow so fingers crossed something starts tonight :)

PDR · 05/11/2010 19:18

Oh and ledkr the Obstetric physio called yday and I have an appointment for Tuesday at the hospital. Have you seen them? Any good?

ledkr · 05/11/2010 19:29

Been seeing them a while now. Great advice but no real help. She fitted me with a pg belt yesterday and it was like wlaking on air. "i can go xmas shopping and back to work" i mused. You have to buy them she said. That seriously pd me off they are 25 quid but with so much to buy it makes me cross.Been looking on e bay and people selling them 2nd hand so will look tomorrow properly. My osteopath clicked my back once then did acupuncture. Like you i thought it was better next day then back. Dont think ill bother ill spend the money on a mat belt and some galaxy!!!
Hot bath helps. I said to dh today its apity we cant have temporary orange badges for our cars as i find walking far impossible.
Have agood night girls,i am having a turkish take away and a glass of wine.

PDR · 05/11/2010 19:42

Mmmm turkish takeaway.....

I hope they have a belt big enough for me Blush! Someone told me they were £5 here Hmm so we'll see!

I am seeing the Osteopath again on Wednesday as I thought I ought to give it a couple of sessions before I rule it out. Pretty expensive though and with Christmas coming and a new baby on the way, unless it provides results I'm not interested!

I have given up on shops and am now doing everything online. I do need to venture to the post office tomorrow though but will go with the crutches I think. Might get me the sympathy vote at least! Blush

lgmum2b · 05/11/2010 20:03

Hi Ladies,
I'm due on the 20th.
We bought the uppa baby vista pram at the baby show and it arrived yesterday.
maxi cosi car seat arrived today.
So did hte cotbed and change table.
All seems very real now.

Haven't bought many clothes yet and trying to stay sensible.

Having a little girl and due Feb 20th.

How are you all getting on?

ZeroMinusZero · 06/11/2010 09:52

Welcome lgmum hope your little girl is enjoying life in your tummy as much as mine is. This morning mine kicked so hard that I saw the kick make a brief lump in my bump iykwim which was pretty exciting.

I finally got my JoJo Mama bump band yesterday but apparently they're only especially useful when you're walking or standing and I haven't moved off the bed/sofa since last night so will have to try it walking around later. The plan is for us to go to local fireworks but we'll have to see whether I'll be able to cope with the standing. At the moment I'm not really sure what it will be like.

Anyone else watching their bump kick?

knittaguy · 06/11/2010 09:59

yes zero, it's quite violent! also getting really high, more than the second rib up, how high should it be now? although I'm sure some of it is punching as well because one second in really low towards the back and the next really high up front, and I am pretty sure it's got just two legs in the normal place...

ZeroMinusZero · 06/11/2010 10:47

Yeah mine was really high today knitta I was wondering if maybe she's upside down with her head towards my cervix and her legs sticking up... or would that not happen? It just feels so much higher than I was expecting...

NeedToSleepZZZ · 06/11/2010 14:34

hi zero and knitta, I'm meant to be painting but just got in from a jumble sale (I love jumble sales!) and buying material to make curtains for the nursery and feel so tired so decided to mumsnet have a lie down for a bit Wink

i've been watching my bump move around, shudder and get kicked and punched every chance i get, i love it but it is a bit freaky! my OH is fascinated by it now as you can see what could be a head or bottom push against the skin then move from one side to the other. think he's head down too as the kicks are pretty high up most of the time. had really bad rib pain yesterday and indigestion which is still happening, yuk Angry

did anyone see 'the little house' on itv? i'm a bit scared now, especially as my MIL is a health visitor (not really, she's lovely... I think Wink )

cler · 06/11/2010 17:36

Hello everyone, Hope everyone is feeling well. I cant believe i will be 29 weeks on wed, im getting really excited now and cant stop spending on baby clothes. I am trying my best to be as healthy as i can in this pregnancy due to the amount of weight i gained in my other pregnancys. How much weight has everyone gained so far? What is everyone calling there babys?

40FawkesyWeeks · 06/11/2010 18:00

Hi Ladies/newbies

Day started off well, bought new car but dcs behaviour has been appalling and so Now we aren't going to a fireworks display and feel lime horrid mummy for getting angry at them. Ds2 is on steroids and has been a total agro all day, biting ds1 and throwing everything. Feel a bit miserable :-(

On plus side, new car arrives next week and managed to trade in dh car, which is knackered and due it's tax and mot so that was good. Also feeling lots of kicks, which I love and have a custard donut in the fridge with my name on it!

40FawkesyWeeks · 06/11/2010 18:01

Oh and Cler, have gained 8 or 9lb, does hat sound ok? Am only 24 weeks tho. Also gained lots last time so go to the gym 3 times a week to try and maintain things Smile

wigglesrock · 06/11/2010 18:25

Cler I have gained about 5lb but not a skinny minny to begin with Wink Have been very sick for most of pregnancy (25 weeks) and have physical job so that has kept weight off.

In fact meant to say yesterday, whilst at midwife appt, we were trying to get to bottom of why I am still throwing up and she thought that I wasn't eating enough while working, I work 5 hrs with a 20 min break and quick apple, sandwich wasn't enough!! I think I hear Subway beckoning to me Grin

Great news about the car 40.., send some of that lovely new car smell my way.

bonfireofthejennyps · 06/11/2010 20:16

I have gained over 20 lbs since I first saw the OB (more like 25 if I am hones) and am getting worried about the glucose test next week. I have been going to the gym twice a week and walking around as much as possible but nothing is helping - I am hungry! Hope everyone is having a good weekend.

JustOneMorePlease · 06/11/2010 20:52

Oh 40 it's awful when you have one of those days! Great news about your car!
If they are better tomorrow why don't you go and buy a small box of fireworks and have them after tea in the garden/yard!
They will prob be cheaper tomorrow as well! Might cheer you up!

I have no idea how much weight I've put on! Eek. I do know that I feel about as big as I was when I gave birth to ds1 at 35 weeks and am only 25 now! Bloody hell!

PDR · 06/11/2010 21:14

Does anyone else have uncontrollably itchy nipples?!! Or any idea what will help?!

NeedToSleepZZZ · 06/11/2010 21:16

Evening, how is everyone?

I feel awful now as I know I've gained about 16-18 lbs and only 26 weeks. I've been walking and doing yoga most days but I am eating much more... Blush

Managed to paint the bookcase and still got the chest of drawers to do... tomorrow? Wink I got them both for £40 in a flea market place, they're great but a horrible blue.

Sorry to upset any Mary fans but she was quite bad tonight! Had to turn the tv down whilst she was singing (and Katy). Thank god for x factor!

NeedToSleepZZZ · 06/11/2010 21:19

PDR I have itchy boobs and stomach and it drives me mad at night!

40 hope your evening gets better with the donut, mmmm! I saw my friend and her boys earlier and they were playing up so maybe it's all the excitement of bonfire weekend and they'll be calmer tomorrow...
