New trimester, new thread. Here's to us becoming grumpy, impatient, fat and uncomfy while counting down the days... :o [hhmm] :o

running you are allowed to sulk, its the one and only time you have a good excuse Grin

girlafraid welcome. don't panic we have loads of time yet - is this your first?

I was tested for strep b when I was in hospital so all ok here so far!

BubbaAndBump · 05/11/2010 15:35

Welcome girlafraid - lots are not organised but a few of us are 2nd or 3rd time mums so are just dusting off the cobwebs freshening things from last time, and there are a few new mums-to-be who are clearly going to be pram-addicts and have bought the lot! :o

Poor you Running I'm not surprised you're having a bit of a sulk and a cry - it's this trimester's hormones added to crappiness from work. I love that you say "we're going to have a nice bath" etc - really sweet :)

I'm at home today with one very snotty child and one who threw up in the night, was a boiling hot little thing but who then decided to sing me lullabies at 2am. She has a rash too which doc says is eczema Hmm even though it's on her tum and back, not particularly 'scaly' and not itchy at all...

To bonfire or not to bonfire - that is the question...

cupcakes- that made me chuckle when you mentioned being pleased with yourself for staying later than other people- I'm exactly the same! Not that I'm exactly a social butterfly at the mo!!!
running you have to best excuse you're ever going to have for sulking which also doubles up as it's reason so don't be hard on yourself!
bubba hope all's good at the next test!
As for the group B strep thing, I also cannot believe that they don't test routinely for it when it's something so serious but which can be sorted easily! I need to ask my midwife about that when I see her on Tues- only thing is I keep forgetting everything at the moment! Also, everytime I ask about something I'm made to feel like I'm neurotic (possibly slightly true now that I come to think of it Blush) and that I'm trying to find things out far too early!

When I've asked about hospital choices she keeps saying, oh we'll go through that later, but when I was phoning about little one's movements on Tues, everyone else that I spoke to seemed surprised that I'm not already booked somewhere for the birth! How about you ladies? I'm 28+1 now- are you booked already?!?!

AmIGoingMad · 05/11/2010 16:52

Oo- enjoy the fireworks if you're out and about tonight! I'm loving the idea of a pj night on the sofa!
Also have to say that I'm loving the Apprentice! The candidates are so amusing! And irritating at the same time! Smile

This is my 2nd baby - I have a DS who will be 2 when this one arrives. I was much more organised with him so that's probably part of being a 2nd timer...

LadyBuzz · 05/11/2010 21:19

jjkm glad things are starting to look up for you. its good to hear how you are all getting on.
You will get to the numb feeling from the CS, I still have numb bits but i don't notice any more!

eightisseventoomany · 06/11/2010 15:37

THATS ALL SOUNDING GOOD JJKM

so glad the twins are ok...
I always get emotional (pregnancy not helping !!) and i was crying happy tears that your twins are OK :)

One good thing is that you can take a bit of time to recover from it all whilst the twins are being well looked after...c-secs take time to heal from anyways (without all your additionl problems), and I..like soooo many, rush into doing too much too soon..
bet you would have done too Grin

but so glad your all doing well, and best wishes to your twins...wishing them back to full strength asap xx

Pootle78 · 06/11/2010 21:58

I've had to buy gaviscon, am hoping it is just a blip :(

gallicgirl · 06/11/2010 22:12

You know you can get it on prescription?

Pootle78 · 07/11/2010 10:41

Thanks for that gallicgirl am hoping it was a one off as have had brekkie this morning and all seems ok (touch wood!)

If not will be on the phone to the docs tomorrow!

gallicgirl · 07/11/2010 12:12

I've found eating well helps. When I'm busy and eat adhoc kind of meals, I tend to get a bit of heartburn.

My partner gets it loads and keeps urging me to ask the midwife for more Gaviscon Shock but to be honest I think I'd rather have the minor heartburn right now as I really don't like the texture of Gaviscon!

Try drinking lots of water, seems to help me. Good luck with it.

RunningKatie · 07/11/2010 18:36

good to hear from you jjkm - keep dropping in and letting us know how it's going.

Aaahhhh, gavison, that lovely pink nectar. I am needing it more and more so think I'll have to get a prescription for it.

Saw a friend today who said she thought I'd be huge by now, wasn't quite sure what to say to that!

I went to some fireworks last night - everyone said that the baby would wriggle a lot but instead I think s/he went into a major sulk and didn't shift much until this morning. Confused

Curtains hung in the nursery, shelves up, baby monitor ordered. 11 weeks to go! :)

BubbaAndBump · 07/11/2010 18:39

LadyBuzz how you doing on carseats? I'm looking at this as an alternative to down-sizing my DH to a TinyTim equivalent to squeeze in between two child seats in the back, with one child driving me mad and being less safe in the front (not in that order of priority, of course Blush Hmm)

Help!!!!!!

After a disappointing shopping trip last week, I brought my first item yesterday and now I can't stop buying!

We've got baby grows, sleep suits, bibs, velour suits, snow suit, scratch mits, the changing bag from Boots, a baby bouncer and some nappies (I had to, I had a dream the other night that baby was born and the only nappy we had was the free one in the bounty pack and we were trying to flick the poo out of it to use it again! Confused )

Now we have the nice things, need to look at all the other things, my poor plastic!!! Fingers crossed my HIP grant will appear this week!

ZippyPippy · 07/11/2010 20:46

Sorry to hear about your day on Friday running, hope you had a nice weekend and feel better. Hope your little ones are feeling better as well bubba.

We went to fireworks last night which was lots of fun, was worried bump would go crazy but like you running, didn't seem to do anything! I have a new problem now though that when I get up to go to the loo in the night bump wakes up too and then keeps me awake wriggling!!

Great to hear how you are jjkm and that you're all being looked after well, do keep us posted.

Welcome girlafraid and pootle glad you have got into your stride on the shopping front Grin Our cot and pram arrived on Friday which was very exciting!!

LadyBuzz · 07/11/2010 21:25

bubba I did look at those seat things and have heard they are very good BUT our car got far too expensive last year and we got a Grand scenic, so we do have 3 true seats in the back with one albeit a small one. and also the option of the 2 in the boot just in case. We were going to get DS1 a highback booster but it doesn't fit in between the other 2 seats and I figure if we stick him in the middle if he falls asleep he can lean on the other 2 seats!
I hope that makes sense - it did in my head. What car do you have and what seats?

We looked at loads when we got this one so tried a fair few combinations!

pootle pmsl at you flicking the poo from the nappy Grin

FloraPost · 07/11/2010 21:56

That's weird Pootle, I had a dream the other night where the baby was born and we didn't have the kit for anything we needed to do - tried to take him home but no car seat, tried to feed him but no nursing bra, etc. My JL list seems to be working now so hopefully won't be kitless for long.

We just had our last ever baby-free weekend away (gulp). Reality is creeping up...

What pram have you got Zippy?

RunningKatie · 08/11/2010 15:46

We bought a pack of nappies yesterday in Sains and got their free Mum & Baby box of stuff. I'm beginning to feel somewhat organised now,

Have started the Christmas shopping online & early, feeling it's better to be organised so come December I can put my feet up a bit. Nice idea Grin

AmIGoingMad · 08/11/2010 17:12

jjkm really good to hear from you! Sounds like things are getting there and that you'll have your little ones home with you in no time! Smile

As for everyone else- you're making me panic! I feel so disorganised! Haven't even finished sorting the junk out of the nursery yet which is concerning me slightly! Have ordered pram, car seat, wardrobe, changing unit and cot - but not moses basket which I think we'll need before cot anyway?! They're not being delivered til end Dec tho which seems a scarily long time away!!!
We did sit down last night and start making a list of things we think we need but have to be honest and say that it made me feel even more clueless than before! Confused It's our first time and want to get all lovely exciting studd but also want to take as long as poss on maternity leave with little one so don't want to put ourselves into too much debt!

Pootle78 · 08/11/2010 20:03

AmIGoingMad don't worry, we have only brought what I have listed and have no nursery (still a junk room) no pram, cot, moses basket, car seat, blankets, sheets etc, etc, etc!!! We were going to write a list of what we need but still haven't managed to get round to it! I was looking at maternity pads the other day and DH was asking if I had to look at them whilst he was there, my response was that he would need to know where they are in the shop if he needed to go and get some!

Running I'm nearly finished with the christmas shopping, didn't want to be waddling around the shops at 8 months pregnant getting stroppy!!!!

Ryuk · 09/11/2010 08:18

Pootle tell your DH a randomer on the internet mocks his delicate attitude! :)

RunningKatie · 09/11/2010 13:46

Pootle - awww bless, he's going to have to toughen up a bit! :)

Mad - we're only appearing organised due to the amount of stuff we've been given. I didn't actually want to start doing anything baby related until the beginning of November but once DP's brother started emptying his loft it was like holding back a flood. Our cot is being delivered Dec 21st, and I think it'll then start to get even more real!

One wriggly baby here, started at 9pm last night all the way through the night and into this morning. I'm shattered even if s/he isn't. We'll be having an early night tonight with the pregnancy relaxation cd.

That's good news jjkm. I know you're not out of the woods yet, but your girls sound like lovely feisty little things. So glad they're doing well.

For all you 2nd/3rd/more time arounders - did you do real nappies or disposables? I like the idea of cloth ones but does it take loads of lentil weaving effort? I love the environment but I also tend to go 'fuck it' in the face of adversity Grin. The starter kits seem really expensive so any views would be good before I take the plunge.
