Hi all - we've very nearly exhausted the 1,000 post limit on our previous thread so here is the new one.

Looking forward to continuing to share the ups, downs, symptoms, queries, worries and joy (fingers tightly crossed!)

Hi everyone - am so glad you are joining in the names discussion :) we talked about names even before planning the pregnancy :) (talk about jumping the gun he he he)

to justify myself we are going to have a hard time with this both hubby and I are from mixed cultures (none English) but intend to stay in london for the time being so the name has to work in arabic, english, polish and spanish.....yeah I know!

Also I am incredibly bad at making decisions - from buying a handbag to choosing pizza flavour I always regret it :) Now when it comes to the name I will be using FOREVER for my child ..well, that's just too much Confused

Beesok · 25/10/2010 17:20

So are you ladies munching? I realised I haven't drank a single drop of water today Shock

Bad I know......waiting for a delivery that is supposed to be here by 5:30 then going out to buy a scone ;)

moomin156 · 25/10/2010 17:23

beesok i dont envy you on that decision and consider yourself told off for not drinking any water today........that is naughty!!!!

NurseSunshine · 25/10/2010 17:24

Moomin after the shock of finding out he's going to be a dad I'm trying to ease him into it as much as possible. As soon as I get a discernible bump then it's all systems go!

Beesok I feel utterly sick and horrid, then suddenly decide I want to eat something (grilled malt loaf with cheese on), and I feel fine when eating it, then immediately feel sick again and it just goes on like that! Confusing

8rubberduckies · 25/10/2010 17:27

Hi all, it's a busy day in Jue in June world! I am feeling a lot better today, DP had day off work (I have Monday off every week), so I had a chance to sneak off to bed today for a nap (3 hours! Blush). I hope eveyone else who has been suffering from lurgies and toothaches is feeling much better today Smile.

Please don't flame me to death, but my biggest challenge this last week since I found out about being PG has been stopping smoking. I cut down immediately, and I haven't had a cigarette since Saturday night now, so am veering between being very pleased with myself and being on the verge of tears because I want one so much. I know the worst of it will be over by the end of the week, but it's so, so difficult Sad Sad. Having been around the block a few times I know how dangerous cigarettes are for unborn babies, but the knowledge doesn't stop the insidiuos addiction. Rant Over.

Beesok we already have a list of names as well!

Cameli great news about your scan! Smile

NurseSunshine · 25/10/2010 17:31

8rubberduckies have you seen your doctor/pharmacist about stop smoking aids? The fract that you've cut down so much is brilliant. Keep up the good work :)

8rubberduckies · 25/10/2010 17:37

Nurse gonna go cold turkey, call me insane but I'm gonna give it a go... just want the nicotine out of my system asap!

NurseSunshine · 25/10/2010 17:42

You're probably right duckies, no point prolonging the agony. Have you got any coping techniques you can employ when you're craving a fag? Such as, chewing gum, pint of water/juice or something like that? Maybe hypnosis would work for you?

Hi everyone.

Feeling very tired but not at all sick, hope this is ok.

Wish me luck for my scan, as I said, on the 8th!!! I'm scared...

Just been asleep for the past hour or do and now poor DP is cooking dinner!

X

sasamaxx · 25/10/2010 17:58

rubberduckies - well done so far and you can do it - I know you can.
I completely completely understand - I was a heavy smoker (and had been for 15 years) the day I discovered I was pregnant with DS. Yes it was really hard to stop just like that - but it really isn't long until the physical withdrawal stops. As you know, it's the psychological addiction that's the problem but keep focused on your baby and you'll beat it.
I stopped on 2nd May 2005. I'll never forget it. Fag in one hand, positive test in the other, looking from one to the other in confusion [hsmile]

sasamaxx · 25/10/2010 18:00

supersunnyday - that's good to know - thanks [hsmile]

neenewps · 25/10/2010 18:04

Hello all

Hope you are all well.

I spent most of today feeling pretty sick and also my work decided to stress me out and I felt really down in the dumps. Had to pull myself together and went for a swim which seemed to get rid of the sicky feeling and also the stress of work.

Went out for the day yesterday with DH and cried over the lifeboat!!! Absolutely bonkers.. my DH really thought I was mad and I don't blame him either. I did feel pretty stupid afterwards!!

Had a real dizzy spell then while I was out, which lasted for most of the evening - really lightheaded and just generally yuk! I'm really hoping that I don't get that again!

8rubberduckies · 25/10/2010 18:24

Nursesunshine, Supersunnyday and Sasamax thanks for your words of support. I stopped before when pg with DS1 and stupidly started again when I stopped BFing and went back to work, so this is the 2nd time I'm going through this agony! Hopefully though I'll manage to stay stopped this time.

My coping mechanism nursesunshine seems to be leaving the room and doing something different from what I was doing before when I have a craving, like brushing my teeth, or, more often than not today, raiding the biscuit tin!

NurseSunshine · 25/10/2010 18:34

Well keep up the good work rubberduckies, the fact that you're trying so hard makes your baby a lucky little thing. Some women know all the risks and don't even attempt to cut down or stop.

Sorry you're not feeling great neenewps, have you been eating and drinking enough? That might make you feel a bit light headed.

DeadBodyofKaraStarbuckThrace · 25/10/2010 18:51

8rubberduckies - fantastic, well done you! Do tell your MW so she can help support you.

Feeling slightly better and have managed to eat a bit without bringing it back up again, hurrah!

Still haven't got much appetite though!

petitech · 25/10/2010 18:52

Hello ladies... another barf-filled day! I think the motion sickness bands are helping somewhat in that they are keeping things under control, only prob is I can't wear them at work if I have short sleeves on :(
Feeling v relieved today as spoke to my boss about a planned US trip in January, which I am now officially off the hook from, yippeee, was so worried at doing a long haul flight.
Thanks to you all I now fancy lemon meringue pie (my favourite!) scones and custard. Having to make do with an impromptu apple crumble and cottage pie, looking at our tesco delivery yesterday I think I have a pie theme going on hehe!

moomin156 · 25/10/2010 18:58

Think i have just eaten my whole body weight in pasta.......yummy

cep · 25/10/2010 19:02

Someone i used to work with got told that the stress caused by giving up working was more harmful than having 1 ciggie a day.

moomin - that's what i'm worried about to be honest, but i only just finished the antibiotics from the water infection on sat morning. To be honest it doesn't feel muscular, will see what it's like tomorrow if still hurts i'll go to the dr.

moomin you are really lucky, My dh gets fed up talking about the baby really quickly so no point till later down the road. Having just said that mentioned to him that we used the one name we like already and he started coming up with daft names like hans (ds is Luke) and chewbacca.

sasamaxx · 25/10/2010 19:04

moomin I had pasta for dinner too.
In a moment of madness earlier on, I HAD to make some cream of leek and potato soup.
It is absolutely delicious - yum yum!

moomin156 · 25/10/2010 19:06

cep i think chewbacca came up in my DH's list too.....LOL
If your pain is no better then you really should see your GP......its better to be told its muscular than to have an infection in your kidneys. UTI's can backtrack to your kidneys from your bladder....:(
Is giving up work stressfull???? quite looking forward to it personally!

IssyStark · 25/10/2010 19:22

Obligatory 'Crikey, two days off and the thread moves apace' statement.

After feeing a bit queasy and off caffeine last week, I feel perfectly fine at the moment. Last week may well have been a slightly tummy bug as teh Spouse had complained of the same a few days before (we both work at a uni so this time of year going to work is like entering a plague pit). I'm trying to remind myself that I don't usualy get ms until w7 and I'm only 6w1d.

Btw, however mentioned loose bowels - that's always been a pregnancy symptom I get. It's very difficult to find information about it but I did track down some references in our medical library last year and just as some women get constipated when pregnant, others go the opposite way.

DeadBodyofKaraStarbuckThrace · 25/10/2010 19:23

I have also started writing a list of names!

I have far more girls names than boys names though...

NurseSunshine · 25/10/2010 19:32

Me too Kara, there are so many more lovely girl's names I think.

I love my DP, he brought me mint ice cream home from work and is now doing the washing up :)
