Here we go ladies, a brand new sparkly thread that should see us all into our 2nd trimester Smile

Many thanks for the warm welcomes Smile

I've felt lots of movements this evening, I was sitting in quite a twisted position which is why I think I felt it so much.

OP posts:

Hi all - haven't posted here for aaages!

I have had a glass or two over Christmas too - lovely :)

We've been down at my parents, back today and I've got major tidying and sorting plans on my mind. Just feel like I need to get everything sorted. Need to unpack first, and find homes for the small mountain of presents that DS got Hmm

I'm 28 weeks on Saturday, can't believe it! Bump is massive already.

In other news, the hospital think I have gestational diabetes. I think they are wrong, because apart from the GTT all my sugar readings are really low. Anyway I am back there again in the morning so we'll see what they say.

Petalouda · 29/12/2010 17:35

Hello!

Glad to see it's been happy christmases all round!

I'll admit to having a couple of fingers of champagne on xmas day - it was christmas, and little sis got engaged that morning (5 weeks after having her LO!).

But Lis I'm with you, I've been dreaming about Rattler since about week 8!

We've got a little more of the baby stuff sorted - we've found the baby's room (from under all the boxes!) and have the big bits of hardware (cot, crib, pram) and picked up a couple of vests the other day too, to add to the bits we got for xmas. I'm planning on adding little bits to my tescos orders for the next couple of months, spread the cost into the food budget.

I've got my GTT tomorrow, and am worrying that it'll show up positive, even though I'm pretty sure I haven't got GD. So your post, Ali, is quite worrying.

Is it wrong if I try to fiddle it?!

And then I'm 28 weeks on Friday. So definite 3rd Trimester territory!

Meanwhile, little bugger seems to have changed position since xmas day and now likes to tuck his head up under the right side of my ribs, whilst practicing for riverdance on my downstairs area.

I keep pleading with him to turn around and belt me in the side again. That was much more preferable.

However, if he's not head-down at my appointment tomorrow, we apparently get another scan some time down the line.

beckie90 · 29/12/2010 20:01

haha no lismca, i know of the song but i think it was before i was born, ooops lol. think the physio is taking the biscuit

Petalouda · 29/12/2010 20:06

Beckie even I feel old now!

AliBellandthe40jingles · 29/12/2010 20:23

Petalouda - I swear mine came back high because I was so poorly when I had it done. I had a stinking cold with a temperature and all sorts for the fortnight before Christmas and had my GTT in the middle of that.
I've been told to control mine with diet - but I have eaten mince pies, christmas cake, pancakes and syrup over Christmas and not had a reading that is even close to the boundaries of what I've been told to aim for. So I really do wonder whether it is a mistake, and whether I'm pricking my fingers 3 times a day for nothing.
It isn't all bad, I'm going to get lots of extra scans!

Good luck with your scan, and I hope your baby turns round! Mine had turned head down but got stuck sideways for about 36 hours over Christmas which was mega uncomfortable, and now I think it is breech again.

beckie90 · 29/12/2010 20:27

petalouda age is just a number lol :), on the inside i feel like an 80 yr old really, with this tiredness and creaky bones

JustKeepSnowing · 29/12/2010 20:29

Pretty sure mine is still breech :(

Must do more spinning babies stuff.
Seeing MW tomorrow so will see what she says - though after them misdiagnosing DS2's 'breech-ness' the whole way through i'm a tad sceptical Hmm

Also want to ask about this grant thingie, whether i qualify & whether it's too late to do anything about it.

AprilMeadow · 29/12/2010 21:21

I now have the Time Warp going round my head!! It has taken weeks to get it out as DD1 (3.8) loves it and does the dance to it, cute but slightly annoying when hearing it soooo often :)

I seem to still have a fairly quiet baby, dont feel him kick much and when he does it's normally at night. I have no idea whether he is breech or not. I will assume he is as the girls both were and didnt turn until quite late, infact DD1 turned 2 days before she was born and she arrived at 36+3. I have my 28wk appt next Wednesday, 1st time I will have seen the mw since 16wks. Am hoping to hear his heartbeat as I didnt hear it then due to him being a pickle!

I'm 27wks tomorrow and so pleased to have reached the 3rd trimester. As a reward I have just purchased the last of the bits i need for the new arrival. Bedding, curtains, bouncy chair and towels etc

I hope that the GTT tests come back negative for you both and that you can carry on for the rest of your pg's not having that to worry about.

Petalouda · 29/12/2010 22:44

Thanks for the info Ali. So they just gave you a monitor? I can do that.

I'm hoping to have mine at the local midwife led centre, as opposed to Exeter hosp. And a positive diabetes result could scupper that.

As for the time warp, I think technically it's before I was born too. But I remember it well!

I'll let you know how the GTT goes!

Night all.

LisMcA · 30/12/2010 11:33

I had a GTT at 16 weeks because of the research thingy I'm doign and it was fine, but I've got another one at the end of Janaury. I cant have a MLU birth anyway as there isn't one nearby, but I have heard rumours that I might not get to use a birthing pool because of my BMI. Must investigate that further!

The Time Warp was before my time in the charts! But being a budding thesp, have had to done a white coat a suspenders many times to re-enact it on stage!

Anyone who hasn't seen the Rocky Horror Show get thee to a video shop and treat yourself!

The Time Warp could be our unofficial anthem! Stick it on your birthing playlist and think of us all when it comes on!!

All together now

beckie90 · 30/12/2010 12:24

i want a birthpool, but given my last birth was shocking im kinda expecting this time to go same, so i dont think i dare risk it im too scared lol.

GabbyLoggon · 30/12/2010 12:31

its done in terraced houses

Petalouda · 30/12/2010 12:38

Ooh, Beckie, that sounds ominous. Please don't tell me till after we've popped!

GTT this morning was ok. Got to ring back later for the results. I'm planning on scoffing lots of choc till I'm advised otherwise.

My blood pressure is low today, which never happens. It's usually a bit high.

And belly measurements put me well above the the top line. Little whopper!

DH just gave me a strange look when I mentioned doing the Time Warp in the delivery room!

beckie90 · 30/12/2010 12:53

no i just mean me lol i heamorrhaged the 1st time so for me the risk of it happening again is higher, and not to mention im just paranoid and convinced its gonna happen.
u'll all be fine :)

lucielooo · 30/12/2010 13:12

hello everyone, hope you all had lovely xmas.. I've been back at work since yesterday (boo) but had a half day for a MW's appointment (yay!) all ok although fundal height 27 instead of 25. The MW didn't seem worried so I think it'll depend what I measure at my 28 week appointment. Baby was bang on for dates at the 20 week scan so just concerned incase it's getting big because of GD. No real reason to suspect I have except for increased bmi and don't think anything showed up in my wee!

Definitely decided to start doing some baby shopping, even though it still feels really early! Sorted out my maternity leave today and I'm finishing three weeks before my due date and taking it as holiday.. that's only 11 more working weeks.. wooohooo!

Other exciting news.. my lovely DP popped the question on Christmas day :) He was going to do it in front of all the family but they weren't being very co-operative and kept falling asleep/arguing etc so he ended up going down on one knee in my mum and dad's hallway, just the two of us. It was perfect actually, just us whispering and giggling and makes me grin to think about it :) DP is fab, and I can't wait for him to be DH!

GoldFrakkincenseAndMyrrh · 30/12/2010 13:12

I find it really hard to believe we're actually having to make decisions about delivery etc already! It's all go from here. My ante-natal classes start in just 3 weeks...

I'm going to have to start making some serious lists.

GoldFrakkincenseAndMyrrh · 30/12/2010 13:14

Ooooh congrats lucie. That's wonderful news!

JustKeepSnowing · 30/12/2010 14:37

Congratulations Lucie Grin

MW appt went well, baby possibly transverse now, across the top of the bump, [hmm[ though obv has wriggle room in there Blush so trying not to stress about it yet.
Discussed ECV, i said i would consider it nearer the time.

BP 'nice & low' err yes it gets lower as my pgs progress, soon i can't stand up quickly without falling over, lol.
Heartrate good (150 - think that's meant to be more likely a boy then? will google in a mo).

Also got blood form for next lot of bloods at 27ish weeks, next appt 28wks.

beckie90 · 30/12/2010 15:01

i heard under 140 its a boy and anything over 140 a girl well thats what the old wives tales quiz i did said lol. but my babys is over 150 and hes a boy.
congrats lucie :)

lucielooo · 30/12/2010 15:34

Thank you :)

What bloods do you have done at 28 weeks JKS? Appointments get really regular from now on in, which is lovely - it's always nice to get a bit of reassurance baby is ok.

Is anyone booking a bonding scan? I'm going to book one for about 30 weeks I think. They need to be between 24 and 32, I'd like to see baby again before he's born (very impatient mum to be!)

Hope everyone is feeling well!

LisMcA · 30/12/2010 15:35

Congrats Lucie :o wonderful news!!

I'd heard over 140 was boy, see all these old wives tales if we beleived them all we'd be having baby monkeys!!

Maternity bras i ordered arrived today! Hmm, good job I'm already preggers because DH will not be coming near me in these! They look like something out of the 20's, but they are comfortable and thats all I care about right now!!

Just been into Edinburgh shopping! Think that'll be the last time I venture in til the baby comes! Too busy, too many people with no regard for bumps!

JustKeepSnowing · 30/12/2010 15:39

Nothing exciting i don't think Lucie - just iron levels mostly i think.

What's a bonding scan? just an extra scan to help bond?
I will have an extra scan about 36ish weeks to check if baby is breech or not, at my request, as i can't fully believe a MW feeling the bump.

Quick google seems to show below 140 is a boy, above is a girl, last appt was 141, this time 150, so make of that what you will.
I was convinced it was a boy but have found myself recently thinking of it as a girl, don't mind either way, but love the guessing games!

JustKeepSnowing · 30/12/2010 15:40

Oh and i asked about the flu jabs - as i had both in Feb this year, she said not to worry until Feb 2011 as the jab should last til then. But to definitely get it then, i'll see what i think in Feb time as i still remain slightly unconvinced about having it when pg.

Petalouda · 30/12/2010 16:39

No result yet on the GTT. Got to try again tomorrow.

We've just spent a small fortune in mothercare! But we did save a lot. Tommee Tippee bottles, steriliser and breast pumps on half price. Bedding and clothes on buy 1 get 1 half price.

Basically, I think we might be ready for a baby now! Good job really, I don't think DH will have a day off with me till about 36 weeks now, and I'm not doing this then!

GoldFrakkincenseAndMyrrh · 30/12/2010 16:49

I have a transverse baby too which means more scans (not happy about that as I'm not convinced they're 100% safe).

Well done on the shopping! I need to order the big things now. Scary!
