Here we go ladies, a brand new sparkly thread that should see us all into our 2nd trimester Smile

Many thanks for the warm welcomes Smile

I've felt lots of movements this evening, I was sitting in quite a twisted position which is why I think I felt it so much.

Guess who's EDD is after the 20th April ? Hmm

However I am due the day of the Royal Wedding, do you think I'll get a telegram if I deliver on the day?! Grin I don't know what is more likely, me getting a telegram or actually having the baby on its EDD!

Just wanted to say a quick hello and to share this if any of you haven't seen it yet:

If you order a copy of the Mama's & Papa's catalog you get a £5 gift card which can be used either online or in the actual shop and put toward anything that is £5 or more in price Smile

(it's only one per household, but that doesn't stop us getting all the Grandparents/Aunties/Uncles-to-be in on the act Grin )

mousecostume if you read this back at any point just wanted you to know you're in my thoughts xxx

caramellokoalalover · 29/11/2010 19:32

MouseCostume, so sorry to hear your news. Can't imagine what you're going through...just puts everything into perspective and I feel like a selfish cow to have moaned about being tired and feeling sick the past few days. Look after yourself xxx

LisMcA · 29/11/2010 19:46

Mousecostume I am so sorry. Take care of yourself.

LisMcA · 29/11/2010 19:56

Scan tomorrow. I think we are going to find out what we are having. Havee been doing all the usual gender predictor tests/oldwives tales. Majority say boy.

A quick check of the stats thread shows that all the mums my age (29) are all having boys Hmm

Will report back tomorrow toe see if there is anything in this chinese gender predictor thingy!

kittycatcat · 29/11/2010 20:36

So sorry mousecostume

Jaylar · 29/11/2010 21:22

Just to confuse things my due date is 20 April (that's my official due date from consultant though I know it's 4 days earlier and all scans agree with me) and I've been told I just miss the HiP grant. Will check again with midwife.

Got the best news today. My sister who is also my best friend is pregnant after trying for 14 months. She had just started all the fertility tests and I'd got her a digital ovulation testing kit for her birthday next week (weird I know but it's what she wanted). There will only be 4 months between the cousins, fingers crossed. Think I was more excited when I got her news than I was about mine.

Looks like another day off work tomorrow as the snow keeps falling outside. Feels like Xmas as barely got out of PJs today. And I ate an entire chocolate orange this evening. Yick. 2 year old DD geting cabin fever though as it's getting too deep to sledge in.

MrsWajs · 29/11/2010 22:06

So sorry to hear your news mousecostume

I'm guessing with an EDD of 24/4 I'll be out for HIP grant also - very annoying!!

MrsWajs · 29/11/2010 22:10

Oh also meant to ask has anyone else had braxton hicks as early as 19 weeks?? I think that's what I'm having anyway Confused

frakkinup · 30/11/2010 05:11

Mousecostume
I'm so, so sorry to hear your news. I hope you have lots of support in RL. Look after yourself :(

MrsW I'm not sure whether I'm getting BHs or just the usual stretching pains. But then I have no idea what I'm looking for really!

Petalouda · 30/11/2010 17:45

Afternoon all - no snow here in Okehampton.

MrsWajs I've been having braxton hicks since 21 weeks (so, a couple of weeks now). At least, I think that's what they are: my uterus tenses up, goes rock solid and pokes out a bit (I was a previous skinny minny, about 18 weeks ago!). It lasts a few seconds (always longer than I think it should) and then relaxes. Baby usually gives me a quick kick (I presume to complain about the squishing), and all returns to normal. For the first few, I only noticed it when I had my hands on my belly, now I can recognise the feeling. It seems to happen for me more when I'm lying still, although I had a few during lessons last week.

Lots of people have told me it's pretty normal, as long as there's nothing else going on (e.g. pain, bleeding, etc.) but ring your mw if in doubt.

Cycle and Stuffed - babber has been going crazy today! I thought I was going to have an 'Alien' moment with my BTEC class this morning! The little dude was practically busting right out of me! Although that's almost preferable to when he does Riverdance on my pelvic floor!

DH is away on training this week so it's just me and the cat at home. I should get some marking done, but would rather lie back and play the kick/poke game!

LisMcA · 30/11/2010 18:11

Snow still here, but did make it to my scan today! Another one for Team Blue here :o

It then took us 30 minute to get up the hill at the bottom of our street. Think it might be another snow day for me tomorrow as the forecast is for another 8 inches overnight.

TBH the only way I got in today was that DH was off and he drove me in. But he's back to work tomorrow and I am not risking driving and getting stuck. I got all the things done I needed to today.

But back to my baby boy! Yay! So excited! I've got the start of my football team!! Only another 10 to go!! Hmm

youngblowfish · 30/11/2010 18:35

LisMcA, that is such fantastic news! (not the snow, the baby, naturally!) Congratulations!

JustKeepSparkling · 30/11/2010 18:35

Lol Lisa & yey for your boy :)

Petal - poke & kick sounds like lots more fun than marking (ex-teacher).

Not a lot going on here babywise really, trying to stay careful & not fall in the snow/ice, expect it will be even slippier tomorrow. & my 2 boys are keeping me busy enough, just about manage to stay awake for their awake hours then head off to bed not long after.

Next MW appt not til the 30th Dec - feels like ages away though my Mum sent the boys an advent calendar & i was explaining it to DS1 when i realised tomorrow is the 1st!!
Kind of want Christmas out of the way so i can start on sorting the baby room - currently a junk room/present hiding room & 2nd spare room, needed for guests at Christmas.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 30/11/2010 18:48

Congrats on your boy lisMcA, I am very biased but I just adore little boys Grin

I forgot it is the 1st tomorrow, I better go and dig out the advent calendars - I'm going to have to put the chocolate ones out of ds' reach.

This pregnancy seems to be whizzing past for me, I think it's because I have ds to focus on so really most of my day is about him. I remember my first pregnancy seemed forever. I hope time doesn't slow down after Christmas

Still only a sprinkling of snow over my way, so I'm very jealous of everyone elses snowfall.

I'm starting to get achey hips during the night now , they are also clicking when I walk up and down the stairs

How are you going to decorate the nursery JKS?

Ladybird10 · 30/11/2010 20:24

Hi All

I haven't posted for ages, so many pages to read but it's all exciting stuff.

I ended up in hospital for a few nights a couple of weeks ago, was having pains down below which felt like my cervix, i went to hospital and was told that my cervix had opened by 1.5cm, they thought i might be having a premature labour. I was put on progesterone to try and stop my cervix from opening even more. Also had a uti and then thrush from the antibiotics. Anyway i seem to be ok now but i have to go back to the hospital to be checked over and hopefully i will be able to stop the progesterone as they are horrible. Was very scary as we have wanted this baby for so long, just hope he can hold on. We had the 20wk scan last week and found out we are having a boy. It seems like there are alot of boys arriving in April :)

Is anyone else still taking their pregnancy vitamins? I've ran out but was thinking of buying more?

So sorry mousecostume such horrible news, take care of yourself xxx

JustKeepSparkling · 30/11/2010 20:36

Not really decorating it as such, the people before us did it in a neutral/beige/bear theme that we've stuck with for both boys - handy & free :)

But DS2 moved in with DS1 years ago and we've got used to dumping stuff in there.

Currently has a double bed, a cot (dismantled), a train table (hidden for Christmas), a random table, a small chest of drawers (refurbed by me for DS1, perfect for baby clothes) and boxes of crap important stuff.

And i've been chucking baby stuff in there too, the washable nappies, baby toiletries, etc.

Lots of work to get sorted!!

Ladybird - that's so scary! I hope your little boy hangs in there for quite a while longer yet.
I take vitamins all the way through pg & as long as i'm bfing too, my diet isn't fab tbh so i hope it makes up for that a bit.

Liv77 · 30/11/2010 21:00

mouse Sorry for your loss

Ladybird Fingers crossed everything goes well for you.

I took the pregnancy multi-vitamins and an omega 3+6 supplement throughout my first pregnancy. DS came out fine so i'll be doing the same again.

My nursery decorating will also involve trying to clear out the spare room. I am hoping to move DS into there so I can put DC2 into the current nursery.

I was hoping the lure of a new big boy bed would do the trick although when I asked him today he said he didn't want one and wanted to keep his cot. Hopefully he'll change his mind. Hmm

LisMcA · 30/11/2010 21:18

Ooh JKS are you using reusable nappies? Have you used them before? I really like the idea, but I'm a bit apprehensive. And people look at me funny when I say I'm thinking of using them :)

kittycatcat · 30/11/2010 21:52

Congrats LisMca :)

Oh ladybird congrats also, and i hope all is ok. How scary. I stopped takin vits at 12 weeks when midwife said i could unless they told me otherwise.

Thaney · 30/11/2010 22:48

Lisa I was thinking about using re-useables too. This is my first so I have no opinion to offer that is based on experience but I like the look of the bambino Mio ones.

frakkinup · 01/12/2010 05:45

I wholeheartedly recommend the Nappy Lady website for getting to grips with reusables. She did me a fab summary with 2 options for complete packages.

I'm still taking vitamins with additional calcium (I don't drink milk). My doc looked at me a bit strange when I told her but they don't even take colic acid here so it's kinda par for the course.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 01/12/2010 09:42

Mouse I'm so sorry for your loss :(

I've got my consultant appointment today. I'm really nervous actually because I want them to agree to a section and that is going to mean discussing everything that happened with DS' birth. I have told DH that he must step in and speak for me if I am struggling. Ho hum.

I use washables with DS and they have been brilliant. Saved us a fortune.
My set are quite knackered now due to 2 years of use, so I need to go through them and see how many I've got that will be ok for DC2, and then buy some new ones. HIP grant will be useful for that!

Ladybird - how scary for you :( Fingers crossed that things go better now.

caramellokoalalover · 01/12/2010 09:43

Congrats LisaMcA! Seems to be lots of boys on the way!

ladybird glad everything is still well and hope you can cut the progesterone soon. That must have been terrifying.

I stopped taking the vitamins about 5wks in when they started making me even sicker. My GP and MW said not to worry as long as I had been taking them before conceiving for a few months and generally had a good diet before pregnancy. I was taking Pregnacare but apparently they're the worst to absorb and you're better off just eating well if you can.

cycle, stuffed, petalouda, kick experts, when did you start feeling the big movements? I'm 20wks and still just feeling light swishes and rolls rather than full on kicks and jabs. Can't remember if it was like this with DS or if this one is just lazier and sleeps more...hoping for the latter Grin

caramellokoalalover · 01/12/2010 09:45

Best of luck for today Alibaba. Hope you don't have to put up much of a fight to get the birth you want.
